Loved this Keurig until… it failed. We were using it for home use, the main reason we went with this model was the larger water reservoir. it had 8, 10, and 12oz cup sizes and the “strong” button which does make for a bit stronger brew. The issue was that it failed in just under 6 months time. I do plan on contacting Keurig and try to return it, but who knows. We needed a coffee maker so I went to Walmart and paid the same amount listed here on coffeemakers.us.com for the model we purchased. I did not buy it here because even though the “prime” cost has gone up, it is rare now that you can get any item in 2 days. I am having to seriously consider if I will remain a prime member or not. To add insult to the Prime shipping delays, I also have to watch commercials when watching prime videos.

After having tried multiple consumer-grade K-cup machines from Keurig and Cuisinart, I had enough of their INSANELY CHEAP build quality and pitiful performance, so started searching for something better. Turns out that Keurig has a “commercial” line that has two models that don’t require water piping and come with tanks, allowing them to be used like a normal consumer-class home brewer but with better quality. One of them is this K-1500 model, based on the consumer K-Elite brewer, which was a contender.
One of the key bones of contention with the other machines is I NEVER buy environmentally-destructive disposable K-cups and brew my own beans/grinds, which is where modern consumer-class brewers fall flat on their face. Thankfully that’s where this machines absolutely SHINES!
PRO’s:
– It is FULLY compatible with the Keurig My K-cup (both the current Universal model which is frankly junk, and the previous-generation version which is MUCH better at preventing water leaks), allowing you to brew cups using over 2 tablespoons of grinds for a strong brew up to the 12oz limit of the machine
– Build quality is MUCH better than its consumer sibling, the K-Elite, from the outer casing, the ROBUST metal handle for the K-cup mechanism (though only the handle is metal, the actual K-cup assembly is thick plastic), drip tray having proper thick metal grate on the top with an improved stopper to prevent it from falling off, and heavy-duty gauge electrical cable
– It brews actual HOT coffee at the perfect temperature, though has no adjustments for this
– Has a “Strong” setting which I frankly find TOO strong when I brew my own grinds, but should be great for those using disposable K-cups
– Large tank with useful front and back handles to refill it with ease and transparent front to easily gauge water level
– The quietest Keurig machine I’ve ever used, not to mention the quietest
– Drain hose for the internal tank for cleaning
CON’s
– It’s a fairly large machine that does take up a bit more counter space than other consumer machines, but only a little more
– Doesn’t come with some of the more elaborate functions like cold brew and such, but that’s perfect for me as I was looking for a meat-and-potatoes, reliable brewer
– No auto-on or auto-brew timers, again harkening back to this being a commercial, no-frills machine, but does have auto-off after 2-hours, which can be disabled if desired
Now with my specific unit, I did/do have some issues which may require Keurig support… When initially setup and going thru the first cleaning brew cycles, the machine’s Add Water light would turn on after EVERY brew, regardless of how much water was in the tank. After completing the initial rinsing brews, refilling it unplugging for a few minutes and plugging it back in, this stopped and it’s now behaving itself.
Another issue is the lid on the water reservoir is warped and doesn’t seal evenly on the tank; you can review this in my attached images. Because the lid has a inner lip going into the tank, it still seals more or less, but is visually unappealing and I may request a replacement get sent under warranty; I’ve seen a few other people complaining of this on the K-1500 and even the consumer-variant K-Elite. These are the reasons I knocked one star off my review.
In terms of the brew, well, I have ZERO complaints! As you’ll see from my video attached to this review, I actually get a slight amount of crema to be produced, as I use over 2 tablespoons of grinds and tap them down a bit in the K-cup, and with the strong pump and high heat of this machine, it produces THE MOST flavourful and strongest cup of coffee of any single-cup brewer I’ve owned since Keurig came out on the market!
Which brings me to a bit of a PSA… Keurig does NOT specify this machine as being compatible with ANY reusable K-cup, including their own My K-cup model, and I’ve read many posts online that Keurig Support blatantly lies to people telling them this machine can’t use reusable cups and must use disposable cups. This to me is reprehensible, as they are not only misrepresenting this machine, but contributing to environmental destruction! Shame on you Keurig for doing that!
Bottom line, for the extra $20-50 over the K-Elite consumer brewer, or any other Keurig brewer for that matter, this machine is a no-brainer! If you can live without the gimmicky features of the consumer machines, this one will deliver for you! I hope this machine lasts a long time!

I bought this model because I needed something more heavy duty for our office of 10 people that are all coffee drinkers. It has an auto off feature which is great for when it’s just sitting and not being used. The option to brew a strong or normal cup is a nice feature. I’ve had different models of Keurigs that brewed a smaller amount of coffee than what you would expect, this one actually brews more where the largest cup would fill up about 3/4 of a standard coffee tumbler. Great value and after a few months of use it has continued performing very well.

I use this thing at home – about 8 to 10 times a day, every day. Had it for about a year now and it makes great coffee just like it did on day one. Love the larger capacity carafe. Buttons still look great, no sign of fading. The open/close mechanism is solid. Overall excellent build quality.
Probably second on the list of essential life items, right behind a quality mattress!

This is a very good coffeee maker. Simple to use, easy to refill (great grips on the reservoir), and heats up quickly. The only reason that I gave it 4 stars (instead of five) is that it makes you refill the tank far too early. By my estimate, there is about 15 ozs of water in the tank when you are forced to refill.

We ordered the Keurig K-1500 but ended up receiving the K-1550, which was an upgrade. It includes a feature for making iced coffee, which is nice to have. My wife uses it at home and likes the larger water reservoir, which was the main reason for choosing this model.
It fits easily on our K-Cup drawer, and the footprint is about the same as the Keurig K-50 it replaced. Overall, it’s a solid coffee maker that does exactly what we need. Would recommend!
