   I was excited to find this percolator since I was looking for a coffee making option without the coffee being in contact with plastic or aluminum. I grind my own coffee beans and have to be sure to not grind it courser than when using a drip coffee maker, but the flavor is very good when using good quality coffee. The fact that it doesn’t have a light to tell you when it’s done percolating is a non-issue because unless a person is hearing impaired you can easily hear when it’s done. My biggest concern with this percolator, and it’s a great concern, is that the lid that covers the ground coffee has an oval opening that is EXTREMELY sharp and jagged, and it sliced my thumb right open while I was cleaning it the first week of use. It was a decently deep cut that hurt for a week. I’m attaching photos, and the one shows my thumb after it had already healed for days. This is just unacceptable and a liability for the manufacturer.

   Exactly what I expected when ordered. Basic minimal small electric coffee percolator. No switch, no light, no glass top knob. Just makes perked coffee. Perks when heating water switches to keep warm when up to temperature. Only fault I see is that it is hard to see water level marks inside pot. Easy to judge once I determined what “full” looks like. It’s not critical. Just don’t overfill. Picture shows top open. I use an old Mr. Coffee “weed whacker” grinder. Gets the job done. Made funnel (3D print) to aid filling basket with grind. Makes great perk coffee!

   I purchased this brand of Percolator because I own the Farberware 4 cup version and it is over 20 years old and still going. I got this one super reasonable from a warehouse deal. We like to make Ice Coffee in the summer months and I wanted to make one pot instead of multiple pots of coffee using my 4 cup. What a treat! To make 12 cups, which they say is about a 5 oz cup, I fill it to the 12 cup marking which can easily be read on the inside of the pot, fill the brew basket with 6 Rounded scoops of coffee using my 2 TBS coffee measure. The first time I used it I was a tad concerned that the brew basket sat up so high above the top of the percolator, as there is a spring on the bottom of basket stem holding it up. However the lid snaps on and everything stays in place. Plug it in and it starts Percolating immediately. I have only ever made the full amount of 12 cups and it takes about 11 minutes to percolate. Because I make Ice Coffee I unplug it as soon as it finishes its cycle because leaving it plugged in keeps your coffee hot. I let it sit for about 15 minutes before removing the basket and let it cool right in the pot until its cool enough to go into my glass container for perfect Ice Coffees. Percolating 12 cups just about fills my 64 oz container. I hope this 12 cup lasts as long as its predecessor has.

   This is our 2nd Farberware coffee percolator. The first one lasted about 5-6 years before it died. We love the ease of use, that the coffee is HOT and does give a great cup of coffee. So we bought the same model but the quality sure has decreased. The power cord failed after about 9 months. We still had the previous power cord so we used that it and it worked. Around the 2 year mark the top part of the handle began to crumble. First one good size piece just fell off, then a second and now a third piece. The top part of the handle is no longer connected (see photo). It’s not heavily used as we only do one pot (about 7 cups), once per week and just heat the coffee each morning (only drink 1 cup per day). My wife is afraid that the bottom part of the handle might suddenly break causing a pot of hot coffee to fall on the legs of whoever was holding the pot. Will not go with another Farberware percolator.

    Classic Farberware really makes a nice pot of very, very hot coffee. A proctor which would have sort of an auto shut off and a light. No, the light would stay on for as long as the thing was heating and then after an hour or 22 hours, I think it would shut off. This pot Is a solid little machine and cook and mean hot cup. But it also never shuts off so if you leave it plugged in in two hours, you will get a black gooey mess at the bottom of your pot. Just remember to use it and then unplug it after a while. I I wish they could make more modern version of this maybe something with straight walls straight edges just got this kind of 1950s retro modern design that I remember from my mother’s kitchen 50 years ago.

    First of all, I like this coffee pot because it doesn’t contain any microplastics. It’s all stainless steel. It’s nice and small, four cups. Unlike drip coffee pots, it heats up quickly and it keeps the coffee really hot. There’s no evaporation so the coffee doesn’t get distasteful. It’s easy to clean being all stainless steel. I used drip coffee pots for years until plastic became a concern. This is a great little coffee pot.

    Update 4.13.23 I returned a very good I got in poor condition from coffeemakers.us.com Warehouse, first time this has happened, so I decided to give it another go. I ordered this one like new, I have not used it yet, but as I previously stated I own one that is easily two decades old and like it so much I want another for work/secondary residence (gf’s house). This time coffeemakers.us.com delivered a like new item – as advertised. Again the only improvement to this work horse and major player in the coffee game would for it to completely shut off about an hour after it is initially plugged in to prevent scorching the stem and the bottom of the pot should all the coffee evaporate. The coffee maker goes into a stay warm mode once the coffee is made. On my older model I have literally written “unplug me” with a picture of an electrical plug on the top in permanent marker to remind my self to unplug it once the coffee is made. I’ve forgotten to unplug it twice, first time I majorly scorched the bottom in the hole where the stem sits and the stem. I had to use steel wool & scouring powder to get the char off, second time (a few days ago) it was minor and used a blue scrubbing pad. Some char remains but it does not affect the taste of the coffee. Four stars, great product highly recommend especially if you can get it in good condition at a discounted price. Initial Review: I inherited a coffee pot like this from my Father he used to drink a lot of coffee and it was definitely used. First off, let me say this is a GREAT coffee maker. I got tired of buying k-cups and brought the heavy artillery back out. I thought this coffee pot is so good I’ll buy another one and take it to work or my girlfriend’s house. Ordered this (first) one USED VERY GOOD. I have not bought anything directly from coffeemakers.us.com Warehouse that was listed in very good/like new condition that was not in excellent shape, very little to no visible signs of use. Until now, the box was new and it has been refurbished with a three prong female in the pot itself and a new detachable cord, unlike mine (2 prong) which is 20 to 30 years old or more. When I took it out of the box I was immediately disappointed on inspection this coffee pot probably works but is in FAIR condition at best, heavily used with a major crack in the base and a rusty screw on the bottom. The lettering on the sticker is worn (mine isn’t). I tried to reason it out but then I saw the screw on the bottom was rusted. Yard sale/thrift shop condition with a refurbished cord. Almost immediately I put it back in the box to return it. The condition was unacceptable for VERY GOOD. However, I thought enough of this product overall to buy a second one (that I don’t really need) at a discounted price. I wish it had an auto shut off after an hour. I try to unplug it as soon as the coffee is made as the warmer will stay on and scorch the pot if you forget to unplug it, I’ve done this once and had to scrub the pot out and the tube with steel wool to get rid of the char which will ruin the taste of your coffee.

    IMPORTANT…. Update: see below, dated 4/24 & 5/24. I really wanted to like this being a percolator user for decades. I order a used ‘like new’ one, but it arrived more broken than ‘like new’ so I returned to get another new one. It does the job and makes a nice, hot, flavorful cup of coffee. It is easy to clean, although you end up cleaning it earlier than you think (see below). My problems with may just be my personal issues, idk. 1. There is no light. I knew this. But it sure would be nice to have especially when brewing process stops and then later when you glance from across the room and ask yourself, ‘Did I unplug that thing?’ 2. Getting the top off is not easy and hence I am afraid, in the not too distant future, the black knob will snap off. That’s how hard it is to remove. There is no screw, it is welded on, so if it breaks, there is not solution other than to somehow buy another whole top, or pry it open with a tool. Neither solution is great. 3. Because the inner part of the spout is so close to the top , you really do have to remove all baskets before you start pouring. Otherwise you will be refiltering/brewing some of your coffee. The baskets are hot, drippy and before having a first cup of coffee I find myself swearing a lot early in the morning. Plus, being slightly OCD, I then find myself cleaning the whole drip system before I even pour myself a cup of coffee. Maddening! These issues could just be me being a cantankerous old man who wants an easy cup of morning jo. It does make a nice hot cup of your favorite flavorful coffee. I will use this until it breaks, but still looking for my go to percolator. UPDATE 4/24 6 months in pot was working ok until we went to plug it in and the wire attached to pot sparked. Luckily my wife was not holding the pot anywhere near that area. Smell of burning rubber, a dark burn mark on my counter and a very frightened wife. The cord had just snapped in one section exposing a bare wire. (See pic) We have a coffee bar and are careful with our coffee pots. This was not user neglect or us ‘slicing’ the cord by mistake. We don’t prepare food by coffee bar. Wrote to Faber customer service but have yet to hear from them adding to disappointment. This is very dangerous . Someone could have been shocked, the counter could have had permanent damage or if left on counter in ‘keep warm’ mode, who knows what could have happened! Very scary. And no response from CS is a big red flag! Avoid!!! Final Update 5/24: After not hearing from Farberware CS i purchases a compatible cord. It was a better cord since the wires were one piece and was actually molded into the plug. All worked well for about 3 weeks until the percolator stopped working altogether. There was a burning smell and then it stopped functioning. Between the original cord being downright dangerous, customer service being terrible, and now the product not working at all after a mere 8 months. I double down on my DO NOT BUY! AVOID AT YOUR OWN PERIL!

    I bought this lil coffee pot to prevent waste. In order to get a good cup of coffee, I was making at least a half pot in a drip percolator. Not finishing the pot though. This is perfect for a huge mug o’joe in the morning, I’m the only one that drinks it here. It does NOT have an on/off switch, you MUST unplug it after use. It Does have a keep warm setting, after the brew cycle is done. NO on/off light. No brew indicator. Just a lovely, simple, non digital pot. Brew cycle take 5 minutes, and you can plainly hear when it’s done brewing. Just love this pot. Fills my 24 oz mug beautifully.

    After reading as many reviews as I thought I needed to, I ordered my percolator. Before it arrived I happened to read more of the critical reviews and wondered if I’d made a mistake. After washing and making my first pot of coffee this morning, I can say “Wow!” I used slightly more coffee than I did in my 5-cup drip pot. I had seen many reviews that said the coffee was weak no matter how much coffee they used. I’m happy to say my coffee was a little too strong so I’ll go back to my normal full 6 tsp. for the max water fill. The coffee was very hot (big plus) and had no metal taste. I am trying to get rid of as much plastic as possible (especially when anything hot could come in contact with it) so this was an easy thing to do. Some have complained that there is no auto-shut off. I have solved this with a timer that will accommodate the 1000 watts of the percolator. I’ve included a photo of the timer. I think this percolator is a keeper!

    Despite size of coffee maker, only makes 5 cups of coffee at 11.5 ounces per cup., (1) The Chinese manufacture decided to make the hole where the coffee pours through the darn smal holel, that it takes exactly a quarter of a minute to fill a 11.5 ounce cup of coffee. VERY SLOW TO POUR. (2) The very small hole is placed so close to the top of the coffee pot that as you tip the coffee pot over to start pouring coffee, the coffee will pour out of the top edge of the pot. So you have to be very careful. (3) The lid is so tight you have to pull EXTREMELY hard. This also makes pulling the lid off while the coffee is still hot very tricky, even dangerous. So if you need to remove the coffee grinds right away, like I do, then this is very tricky to do without burning yourself. Even when the coffee pot is not hot, it’s extremely difficult to get the lid off. As a man, despite I have muscle power, I still must pull really hard to remove the lid. (4) There is no on or off switch. Unplugging it is the only way to turn it off. Such an expensive well built coffee pot you would think there would be a toggle switch. (5) Warning under coffee pot not to use commercially. Meaning this coffee pot may overheat if we try to make pots of coffee back to back? Setting aside all the above it does an awesome job. Perfect taste every time. Yes, some coffee grains get into the coffee though. You can hear it start to boil within five seconds of plugging it in. Coffee ready in about ten minutes. Note: it’s made in China might explained why there are so many issues. Would not have bought it knowing it was made in China. Sorry about that.

    Chose this percolator after comparing with many others on coffeemakers.us.com. Reviews I read of other brands and sizes spoke of parts breaking off, the units failing, or poor build quality. I have this for approximately 4 months now and I still enjoy having a hot cup of great tasting coffee. Has consistently worked without issue. The build quality is solid, the cover fits securely and the brew time is reasonable. Combined with a paper filter, there are no grounds in my cup. This model is small, but I think it’s great for one person. Cleaning is easy.

    I travel for work about 50% of the time and struggled to get my coffee fix on the road. I’m not a morning person and adding an extra stop at Starbucks to my morning routine does not work well for me…However, relying on the coffee at my hotels also does not work well for me because it is never strong enough and I don’t like to use the coffee makers in the room. But in order to have a good day, I must start out with strong, delicious coffee!!! And this little percolator does the trick! It’s easy to use and only takes a few minutes to do its thing. Once unplugged it cools down fast enough so that I don’t need to worry about packing it in my bag and setting things on fire. It makes the perfect amount to fill my travel mug. The reasons why I didn’t give it a 5-star rating is that 1) The lid is hard to remove which makes it tricky to take off when it’s hot (and I’m in a hurry) and 2) The volume markers are etched on the inside and are difficult to see. Overall this is a solid, well-made item that I am very happy with so far. It has also made it through TSA in my carry on without raising an eyebrow.
