Here are a few places where the AeroPress excels: Flavor The AeroPress consistently brews some of most delicious coffee you’ll ever taste. It works by fully immersing coffee grinds in hot water and creating a seal with the plunger to press the coffee through a filter using gentle air pressure. The resulting cup is flavorful, clean, and low in acidity and bitterness. This method provides so much control over the brewing process that you can make whatever adjustments fit your tastes. Easy setup and clean up Using the AeroPress is simple. Add coffee grounds and hot water. Stir. Press the plunger down gently. That’s it.    This is the second Aeropress I’ve had and I’m a huge advocate for it. I needed to replace mine of 4 years and I’m really disappointed because the one I received is defective and tilts to the side when pouring water into it. This makes it difficult to use and potentially messy and a big hassle if the water and coffee grounds spills over.

   I love this. We don’t use it all the time because we have lots of other ways of making coffee but when we do use it, it is a joy. The same coffee is somehow richer and, of course, hotter. We took it with us when we went away for a long weekend recently and it was great to have decent coffee rather than the cheap instant stuff the hotels provide. Our trip also included a few days in self-catering accommodation and again this came into its own as it is so much easier to clean up than the cafetière provided.

   Do be sure to have the press on a stable base as you do have to press down quite hard to push the coffee through but that is the only downside I can think of. Cleaning up after use is a doddle, push out the end of the tube into a bin and just wash the equipment, no messy grounds to deal with.

    I liked the first AeroPress I purchased five and a half years ago so well, I’ve replaced it. Why? My video shows more detail. First, when you follow directions, this makes superior coffee: 175 degree(ish) water (not boiling), 10 second stir, slow press. I’m not an expert, but have used a French press and tried the AeroPress with stainless filter as an alternative to paper. I prefer the AeroPress with paper filter. BTW, the 10-second thing is consistent with espresso methods. Evidently that is just how long it takes to extract full flavor and avoid bitterness. The AeroPress result has all the flavor the coffee offers, filtered so you can reheat it without degradation. If you’ve used a French press and reheated a mug a time or two, you know that the residual oils make for an increasingly bitter drink. I can heat a mug from the AeroPress 2-3 times and the flavor remains consistent. My new press appears to be built of a different plastic from my older one. I’m guessing that this is to solve the one problem I’ve had: crazing of the chamber interior. This probably relates to the hot water. As my video shows (or see macro still images), the main tube developed crazing which allows coffee to leak around the plunger end. I’ve read that the current plastic went into production shortly after I purchased my original. Yes, I could have replaced the plunger end and chamber to rehabilitate my AeroPress, but mineral residue from local water (washing only, I filter my coffee water) has made my old rig look kinda crusty so I went for a whole new set. My macro photos are of the old chamber, so I’m guessing that you (and I) won’t experience the deterioration with a new chamber. But, hey, they are fun to look at.

    Makes one to four servings hot or cold quickly. A beast with loose leaf tea. Do not waste time with any cold brewer. Make shots, refrigerate, serve hot or cold drinks. Clutch for travel. You need one or three. Every morning I make fresh hot coffee for my girl and I. There was a learning curve. At first I made the usual mistakes. Look up the inventor on YouTube. His recipe is a good starting point. At first I would make a moka first thing, Aeropress was too fiddly for me right off. Six months later the Aeropress is my go to.

    I have two each that I have had since 2020 the most recent I purchased at the end of 2021. When I say this product is bulletproof for a cup of coffee, it is. All you need is your coffee and a separate container a grinder if you want to grind it, or you may have already have grounds, and some boiling water. It’s a simple as that. For traveling sales people or travelers in general, it is a no-brainer you can make a fresh cup of coffee, anywhere any place anytime. On the plane, in the mountains, anywhere. What an amazing invention for coffee lovers . And the material outlast also, I purchased two mesh gold plated filters for travel which have lasted. They do come with paper filters for those who are environmentally conscious and those who travel and have the practicality the steel mesh is phenomenal.     I’ve had my AeroPress for quite some time, to be used as a backup. During a recent hurricane evacuation, I finally used it and it is now my primary coffee maker. I did find that the water ran through too quickly, and after exploring some information online, I learned that most coffee professionals recommend the inverted method. I tried this, and it makes a perfect cup of coffee. I personally think this method should be included in the instructions. This little gadget was my hurricane highlight.

    I needed something easy to clean for use in the Rv. It is easy to clean but has a bunch of moving parts. I left the funnel behind, and the spatula. I pour water from a pan or large measuring cup and don’t see the funnel as a necessity. I use a fork to stir. But when I put in the filter, coffee and add water to the press over my cup, it runs right through! After several very weak cups of coffee I decided to fill it upside down. I set the plunger level at 3 cups, add coffee, fill with water, stir, then put the filter and cover on. I let it brew for a minute or 2 and get the richer brew that I prefer. As long as the plunger continues to work, my method should work. When camping, water is limited so the easy cleaning saves on rinsing and dealing with messy grounds.

While the product does exactly what it says it’ll do I highly recommend some trial and error situations. I believe my coffee grounds may be too fine or maybe it was user error, but I managed to get coffee grounds through a single filter.     The good… I gave it two stars because the coffee tasted very good and cleanup was easy. The bad… The finish on the funnel started peeling (see picture) after the first use. Even more disappointing is the claim it makes three cups. I realize a “cup” of coffee is often a mere 5oz. The instructions say to use only 8oz of water, so that’s only about half of three 5oz cups. My 16oz mug got only half full (see picture). Sure I could have heated more water, pulled the plunger out after the first press, poured more water in, and pushed the plunger through again, but what a hassle. I also do not know what that would have done to the taste. It is easier (or at least just as easy) to continue using my Ninja brewer. This is going back.

    Okay so I’m not one to put products out there… But this…. Game changer if you’re a coffee drinker. I’ve been huge fan of my French press but it PALES in comparison to this baby…. No grit. None. Zero. But all the richness, coffee oils, without the bitterness. Oh. And it’s self-cleaning. Highly recommend! I’ll never again go back to my French press, percolator, and for sure never my drip!…. Except my new Moccamaster!
