   I used three times, after cleaning it, I went in place the plunger in the carafe, the glass broke. Very flimsy and weak glass.

   I already had a Cafetière à Piston but it broke. The problem was that the plastic collar holding the plunger in the lid broke off. I tried to fix it with a “plastic” epoxy but it didn’t hold. Rather than waste time I just ordered another one. I’m happily pressing my coffees.

   The problem is that the cap has to be aligned in a certain way to allow it to be pulled out. It’s not a big deal but you can figure it out. The problem is that casual users don’t know this and they probably just keep yanking. Eventually the plastic yields. Overall the design reduces the amount of plastic needed, which is a good thing.

   Bodum could have helped people by noting the alignment with marks in the cover plastic, but they didn’t. For that matter they could have reinforced the plunger (say with flanges). I know, designers and molds are expensive. But Bodum (still) has a reputation to uphold (I mean, with the hard-to-remove sticker on the side of the container extolling their primacy in making presses).

   Bought this for those days when I am feeling generous and prepared to share my coffee beans with other family members. I imagined I’d be so overwhelmed by their gratitude for such as benevlolent act that I wouldn’t mind washing it up afterwards although in all honesty I think I was hoping they’d do it. Anyway, it makes great cafetiere coffee and it’s as sturdy as any of these things are. I went for Bodum because I thought that when I drop and smash the glass there would at least be a decent chance of being able to buy a replacement glass jug for it. Haven’t smashed it yet so can’t test out that theory but it turns out I do mind having to wash it and nobody else is volunteering. I never know what to do with the damp grinds. Can’t just rinse them out down the sink or it will block (that’s not just a theory, it happened) and scraping them into the food bin gives me the heeby-jeebies. If I had a garden and a garden tap I suppose I could rinse and chuck into the flowerbeds but I don’t. Shoving the plunger part under the kitchen tap is obviously simple enough so it got ‘easy to clean’ stars for that bit.

   Mejor café que antes, fácil de utilizar y limpiar. Mientras se calienta la cazuelita, sólo con agua por lo que no hay que fregarla, preparas la cafetera, se hace muy fácil, y una vez hecho no ocupa sitio en la encimera.
   Si se me rompe, me compro otra. Habría merecido la pena comprar el vaso de cristal de repuesto.
   El pistón/filtro funciona muy bien, se desarma bien y se limpia fácil.
