   Quality of the coffee was average, but my main complaint with this coffee maker is the fact that it was $100 and only lasted a little more than a year. The finish on the heat element has peeled off and has rusted. I submitted a claim to Braun and although the warranty had recently expired, they agreed to review the issue if I sent a photo. My feeling was that a $100 coffee maker should last much longer than a year. They reviewed and denied my claim.Their reply: “After reviewing the pictures on your case we have decided that the warranty for your unit is invalid due to negligence of the unit. ” I won’t buy another Braun product.

   Good coffee maker. Had extended timer (4 hr hot plate). Died after a year. If I had to guess I would blame the extended timer which was used almost exclusively. Charcoal filters were bit of a chore but that’s Braun wanting to take impurities out of the water. Enjoyed it while it lasted. Won’t by again, though.

   For some reason I keep having over flow issues. The basket overflows and clogs ther drain and gets coffee and grounds in the water reservoir. Then have to clean the entire pot completely. Imagine finding this mess at 5 in the morning and having to clean this mess and start over. Only had it 9 months.    This is the best coffee maker I have ever owned. It is very well made unlike the others like mr coffee. It is 14″ tall so it fits well under the upper cabinets. Another user had a video claiming it was 19″ and unable to fit but that is not the case at all.

   Awesome coffee pot. Great design and functionality. The mesh coffee filter is nice. still working on getting the perfect grind size for it, but seems you’ll just expect dregs in the bottom of the pot after a brew. We like the temp settings and the green button glow!

   Very good looking machine, makes quality coffee. Paid $80 something, everyone thought I paid $200 for it. I have a espresso machine(Nespresso) at home, but it costs too much when it comes making Americano, it takes 2 pods to make one cup of Americano, and 2 pods will cost close to $2, and if i want to make a 20 ounce of coffee then…. it will cost more than me buying straight from Starbucks. So i’ve decided to shred $80 bucks on a drip coffee machine and it is absolutely worth it!

    Decided to spend a little more money on what I thought was going to be a decent coffee maker, but this was a disappointment. Within a month of using this, the top plastic lid had warped, making it hard to seal the top and prevent tons of steam from escaping. Even when I tried to adjust the top cover before brewing, somehow it would still end up out of place. A cyclical problem now – escaping steam warps lid, which prevents proper closure, which results in escaping steam. See picture. This is not acceptable and I’ll be replacing this coffeemaker with something else.

    We needed to replace a 14 year old 5 cup coffee maker and also needed to upgrade to a larger one since our college-aged daughter is now drinking coffee too. We looked at several articles rating the best coffee makers on the market and this one consistently won the best value award. We got it on sale so the value is even better. I definitely wanted a cone filter coffee maker and this one has that. It is very easy and intuitive to use. I like the reusable metal filter. So far, no problems. The carafe doesn’t drip when we pour it like our old one did. I really like the feature where you can adjust the warming plate. I prefer it on low so that it’s drinkable right away.

    This is a great coffee machine. Setup was very easy. Buttons are simple to use and easy to program. I love the built in copper filter. No need to buy paper filters. Very easy to clean as well. Between the copper filter and the carbon water filter, I must say my coffee tastes better than from my old machine with a paper filter. Love th sleek square appearance. Looks stylish on the counter. I highly recommend this coffee machine.

    I just moved and my ex wife wouldn’t let me take my coffee maker. When I got this Braun I instantly knew I was winning! It’s looks amazing with the digital display and when in use the green lights make it look even better. It’s easy to program, the built in filter improves the coffee taste, and it doesn’t leak at all.     Do not buy! I bought this from coffeemakers.us.com in April 2020, didn’t last 1 year. In Feb 2021 received E01 error which the manual indicates you must call Braun. They said the entire coffee pot needs replaced, had to provide proof of purchase and image of error. They denied my claim because I bought from coffeemakers.us.com and coffeemakers.us.com used a third party. Ridiculous. What does it matter…it was brand new and their warranty says it’ll be replaced. Unwilling to honor. $80 piece of crap.

    Once upon a time…I had the most beautifully designed, functional, and reliable German coffee makers. Braun. Krups. Black, white, mill and brew, and more. When my last Braun finally gave up after 10 years of faithful service, I went to buy another and found what you all found. They were gone from the U.S., driven out by a flood of cheap coffee makers. So, I began testing out all the runners-up. Cuisinarts came and went back. Zojirushi? Nope. Bonavita? Nah. And paying $300+ for a Technivorm Moccamaster? Forget it. I started getting my coffee on the outside, as they say. Then, last week, I was in BBB and saw this beauty. Was Germany back in the game? Turns out yes, but by way of China. And for all of you who think that’s a deal breaker, think again, my friends. I am happy to report that this new incarnation of Braun engineering, at least the KF 7170 that I have, is the real deal. Things I love: 1. That built-in lip in the back of the lid that catches EVERY drip of condensation and sends it back into the reservoir. 2. Coloring the steps in the water reservoir lime green. I can see them now! 3. All the adjustables; water hardness, warming plate temperature, brew strength (bold is really bold), and number of cups made. 4. Quiet operation. 5. Easy programming without having to be a math major. 6. Fair price. 7. Sturdy, substantial, and sleek design, with beautiful attention to fit and finish. 8. Oh, and AMAZING coffee, of course. UPDATE 5/1/18 First Clean Cycle! I’ve had this machine for about a month now, and with our hard water, the CLEAN light came on this morning. I don’t like using chemicals, so I just poured a carafe of water in with a couple tablespoons of vinegar (no water filter or gold filter in there, of course). Then, I hit the CLEAN button, it flashes, then I hit the BREW button, now they are both flashing, and the machine just does its thing. The whole cycle only took about 15 minutes. Not sure why Braun says it can take up to 45 minutes, but mine was really fast. Then, both lights go off, I run one more pot of clean water through, and I’m good for another month. So far, so great. 🙂 UPDATE 12/24/2019 After a zillion pots of coffee, VERY slowly, the warming plate started chipping off about 3 months ago, though the rest of the unit works like when it was new. So, today CHRISTMAS EVE DAY mind you, I called Braun customer service and not only were they there (amazingly), they told me that I had a three-year warranty on the machine (yay!) and that even though I couldn’t find the receipt from BBB, they would still replace the unit for a nominal shipping fee of $15, sent to them with the cut cord to Delonghi. Don’t have to send the whole unit back. And the woman, Angela, I spoke to was really nice and helpful. So, nice to know Braun still stands behind their products! It will take a couple of weeks to get the new unit, but that’s fine. Saves me spending $100 on a new one. Go Braun!

    Purchased this coffee maker last August. Five months of use (once per day) and the lettering on the “brew” button is vanishing. Not a good sign for the overall quality of the unit. I could read the buttons on previous coffee makers for years until they stopped working. I suppose we can use a Sharpie to label it when it completely disappears. Update: Beware of losing the spring that operates the valve at the bottom of the filter holder. This cuts off the coffee flow when removing the pot for coffee while brewing. It tends to fall off. We found it on the floor and in the sink.

    This coffee maker makes some of the best coffee but has a horrible flaw. It steams so bad that it literally melts itself. All of the buttons on the front have melted and begun to fall out. Just wish it had happened before the return cut off.

    Had a great deal of trouble the first time the clean mode was activated. At that time help came from googling the the problem. I unplugged it and then plugged it back in and cleared the glitch. The second time the program ran the clean cycle there was no way to get it to make coffee again, no matter what I did. I followed all the directions carefully, using vinegar and rinsing. It would never move from the “clean” cycle. Since this was the second time I had trouble with this machine and it seems to be a problem others had, I threw it out.

    Always clogs! I love this coffee maker except for the useless ‘Anti-Drip’ system where you can pour a quick cup of coffee while the coffee is brewing. It always clogs. I removed the spring lever on bottom of basket to brew a full pot. Braun should save the pain and remove that ‘feature’.

What is interesting are the similarities between the Braun and my old Cuisineart. The look like they were made by the same manufacturer.

    It looks very nice. Easy to install. Bit dissapointed because the Ani-Drip system isn’t actually working as advertised. I tried pouring coffee in middle of brew, after few minus of brew but it was still dropping some ☕. Not much different compared to my old 19 dollar coffee machine in that aspect.

    Does it make good coffee, yes but not any better than your average $30 Mr Coffee pot. This is NOT your daddy’s Braun coffee maker, it is made in CHINA. It is a pretty looking coffee pot. The biggest design flaw is as noted in other reviews – NO window to see the water level like other coffee makers. This design flaw will make you unhappy as you either have to measure the water in the pot or hold a flashlight while you are pouring water into the top of the coffee maker. Real frustrating but you will get over it. What you can not overlook is the POOR customer support from Braun when the coffee maker stops working. I owned the Braun for 4 weeks when I started having the coffeemaker stop functioning properly. It would stop brewing when only half the water was brewed. This got progressively worse until it stopped brewing completely. I have had 3 lengthy telephone conversations with Braun Customer support. I have been told I will get a replacement. Countless emails with receipt copies AND pictures of me cutting the cord off the coffeemaker (as requested by support) get NO replies . FWIW Braun customer support has not acknowledged ANY of my emails. After a week of frustration with Braun customer support I have just about given up on getting a replacement coffeepot. Never will I ever buy anything from Braun or DeLonghi again.

    Do not buy this coffee machine. Within several weeks the labels on the front wore off . And when I contacted Braun they said it was normal wear and tear. Really, after a few weeks? This is clearly a manufacturing defect on a machine that pretty pricey. I would stay away.

    It is very hard to find a drip coffee maker today that makes a good cup of coffee. When my old reliable Mr. Coffee machine died on me, I just went out and bought another one. The new one made terrible coffee! It was really confusing because the old one made the most delicious cup of coffee. I noticed that my old coffee maker had a showerhead water dispenser on the top that evenly disbursed the hot water into the basket of coffee grinds. Today, almost all drip makers have a single hosed spout that pours the hot water into the center of the grind basket. This results in terrible tasting coffee! The hot water needs to pour on all the coffee grinds not just a point in the center of the basket. When I looked at this Braun coffee maker, it did have a showerhead type distribute spout on the top. The problem was it had a large hole in the center of that shower spout and all the water was just coming out that hole, and the coffee tasted terrible. I decided to make a modification and plugged that center hole. Now the water distributes out the showerhead evenly over the coffee grains and this machine does now make a better cup of coffee. I did have to place the settings on 1-4 cups, Bold, and medium heat. All of this seems to have resulted in a much better tasting cup of coffee. I can’t figure out what these coffee makers are thinking! Is it bad engineering? Is it just trying to save a few pennies during manufacturing? Either way all these drip coffee makers are now doing them selves large disservice. I will keep this one for now, but I’m almost ready to go to a percolating coffee pot. It’s not that hard for these drip makers to do the right thing, so they really need to get their act in gear. The other features on this machine are kind of nice.

    The filter basket has a plastic tab that holds it in the coffee maker, so that the basket doesn’t get pushed up when the carafe is in place. The tab broke, and we assumed it may have been cracked. Past warranty, we ordered a replacement filter basket from Encompass for $6.00. The tab on the replacement filter basket broke after just a month of use. The plastic tab is too hard and not flexible enough to be moved regularly when removing the filter basket for rinsing/emptying. So now we are using the filter basket with the bottom closure mechanism removed. Very disappointed in this lack of quality from Braun.
