   I have enjoyed using the Chemex coffee brew system. I did have a Keurig, but I felt like it was never clean, and there was no way to clean inside of it. I was concerned that was what was causing me to have additional allergies and issues with my health. Lots of research I found Chemex. Having the system all glass, I’m able to clean it thoroughly each time. I got the 3 cup size, which is perfect for just me to use. I have tried the half filters as well as the folded filters. I recommend the square pre-folded filters because they do not have a seam where the grounds can escape. You just have to add an additional fold for the 3 – cup size. I also got a stainless steel electric kettle. This is a great combination. If you are concerned about if your Keurig or coffee maker is fully clean, I highly recommend this product. It is very easy to use and the coffee taste great. The only thing I don’t really like and wish was different. Is the wood band on it. As you can see from the photos, it gets worn down after getting wet through the washes. The leather knot is too hard to undo each time so I don’t untie the knot anymore. I tried untying it a few times but it is hard to get back on tight enough. They need a band of some sort that does better with washing instead of wood— or something easier to remove.

   Received this as a gift and I love it. Buy paper filters because mine sat on the counter not being used for almost a year because my reusable metal filter got clogged up after just a few cups and I couldn’t get it to work. I finally got the paper and now I make 90% of my coffee at home. It’s perfect. The only coffee that can compete is when my favorite barista makes me the same thing for $5. Buy some good coffee for this. Skip past the Starbucks and store bought and find someone who roasts it fresh every week. Makes all the difference. Also, I kind wish I had the one with a glass handle because this is kind of awkward in my large hands. The wood looks dope though.

   I’m trying to live a more toxin-free lifestyle, one of the things that I have done to do this is get rid of my plastic Keurig machine. I replaced it with this pour over Chemex. Little did I know it would improve many different things for me, including: The overall taste of my coffee, before I was buying pre-ground at the grocery store. I have since stopped and started buying a whole bean called purity and then I grind it down myself then pour it into this Chemex. Coffee tastes so much more better, it literally is like a art of its own. I use paper filters, pre wet them first. Boil up some water in my bodum kettle and then pour a little bit over the top to let the gases release and then I start pouring little by little until it reaches the little dot on the on the glass, the little dot on there lets me know that’s a full cup. Cleans up well, super aesthetically pleasing to see it on my counter. Love the sound of the coffee dripping, I have no problem waiting just a little bit longer to do it this way than the , I have no problem waiting just a little bit longer to do it this way than the automatic coffee machines. Because I know that the way that I’m doing it is the healthiest way possible for my body.

    Tra tutti i modi di fare il caffè, quello “filtro” é quello che preferisco, e questa caraffa semplicissima é un ottimo strumento. Il caffè viene aromatico, forte o meno, dipende dalla quantità di caffè che si mette, senza residui, senza il grasso galleggiante in superficie, non amaro e nemmeno acido. L’unico accorgimento: Usare solo caffè buono! Il caffè vecchio o di scarsa qualità viene malissimo, si sentono tutti i difetti. Se nella moka va bene quasi tutto, con questo metodo assolutamente NO! Consiglio un’arabica di media tostatura, altrimenti prevale il gusto di tostato/bruciato. Sicuramente lo consiglio! É piaciuto persino ai classici bevitori di caffè all’italiana.

    I laughed about the other reviewers who mentioned this was a pain to clean. How could it be?! Well for starters (this size at least) a sponge wand and some brushes won’t fit down into the bottom of glass. And the wood and leather pieces which add such a fashionable touch are a pain to re-assemble. At least, I thought so – I could NOT get the leather tie the way it originally was. After several attempts I ended up with a square knot and a Chemex that reminded me of a dalek (see my picture in the product gallery). But ah yes the coffee! It’s wonderful, just divine. I will not go back to my french press. This coffee is so pure and tasty. Just follow the instructions, brainless after a couple of times. I have my chemex clean and folder placed in it the night before, also kettle full, to help speed things up in the a.m.

    The actual product is very cute and easy to hold. The box it came in though looked bent and broken down like someone had owned this before and returned it. I don’t mind except that I purchased the product as “New” so I also paid full price. Just means I will be sanitizing this one a little more thoroughly before using and would NOT recommend sending as a gift unless you inspect it first. Was also sent USPS so it took allot longer to arrive :/

    Had this for 2 years and it broke. I love the Chemex brand because it does keep the coffee hot a tiny bit longer but having to be extra careful with it every time you use it becomes ridiculous.
