   Just received my new French press. Makes an absolutely spectacular cup of coffee. I used a hand grinder and ground my beans course. I would recommend a heaping tablespoon per 8 ounces. Tasted wonderful! Keep in mind this is for camping so clean up is a bit tricky as all of your grounds will end up on the bottom and not in your cup. If you treat it as a camping coffee pot, dump and rinse in the wild it is no problem at all. Carafe seems to be insulated to the gills and hold heat forever. I was most impressed by the quality of construction of the unit. It is heavy duty to say the least. Coletti hit this one out of the park. Excellent product!!! Keep up the good work!

   Albeit my first ever press, I am impressed with the quality. After years on the electric drip & fast k-cup circuit, I’ve switched over to the press. I’m sipping on my first brew of chai coffee which is still the perfect temperature from the initial pore.

   Arrived in a sturdy box and wrapped in its own cloth bag. Quite easy to use. Instructions are printed on outside of box. Lid can be turned to a closed position to help keep contents hot. Easy to clean and easy to store.

   This sleek and sturdy press has made me a very happy convert!

   This is great french press!! I was looking at other big name brands with high prices but some of the parts on those were plastic. This French press is all metal except for the rubber seal. It makes a good cup of coffee and no bits get past the press. It’s feels like it will be past down to my kids how well it is built

   I’ve had it with glass French press beakers. I’m tired of breaking them, cutting myself and needing to replace them at some crazy cost. This is definitely the last french press I’ll ever buy for myself. It’s massive! Rugged enough to knock out a burglar, yet meticulous enough to brew your favorite coffee to perfection. The craftsmanship is definitely not one for the price. With it’s thick stainless steel, it’s clean lines, tight clearances and awfully impressive and consistent welds, this thing should cost AT LEAST $50. This French press is made to last!

   I purchased the Butte percolator and was thoroughly impressed. They have a special flute design in the neck which actually regulates the perk for a truly delicious cup of coffee.

   I then ordered a French press for my grandson. Pure quality! The only issue I had was when it was delivered from coffeemakers.us.com. The box was smashed but the product was still in great shape. It was good the rigors of coffeemakers.us.com. I contacted the company and they immediately got back in touch with me because of the damage to the box.    The press feels hefty. It looks and works great. However, the knob (also sturdy) was fastened on a strange angle to the stem. I made a quick phone call to companies (very friendly) customer service . A free replacement part was sent to me right away.

    I gave it a 5 star even though it doesnt keep coffee hot for 4 hours. after 2 hours It keeps coffee hot enough to where my creamer doesnt ball up when i make my second cup. . It still steams a little after two hours. Its a heavy duty beast and its built really well. It keeps coffee hot twice as long as other stainless steel french presses ive bought. Just not for 4 hours.

    I bought this for my wife so that she can enjoy French press coffee when we go car camping. This thing is built like a tank! I think you could run over it with your car without damaging it – it’s that sturdy!

    My wife also said it makes good coffee. Only downside: the plunger components don’t come apart for cleaning, which is unusual (or so she tells me).

    Also, ours has what looks like a manufacturing defect along the bottom edge in one area. It looks like someone used a grinder or something to try and smooth it out for some reason, and wound up making it looks like it’s damaged. But that’s not noticeable unless you turn it upside-down, and it doesn’t affect performance, so I’m not deducting any stars.

    All-in-all a solid product that I expect will last a lifetime. I just hope they exercise a little better quality control during manufacturing.

    Update. The replacement arrived today and the seal is in good condition. This is becoming our favorite French press ever. It’s super sturdy, strains the grinds perfectly and keeps the coffee hot. It makes 4 mugs of coffee, which is just perfect for us. This was a Christmas gift for my husband. He had been wanting a slightly larger French press than the one we have, and this was exactly the size he needed. It arrived, and I wrapped it. Upon opening it for Christmas, he found a melted and miss formed rubber gasket. He assumed that it was packing purposes to keep the lid from wiggling, but upon further inspection we realized it was meant to be a seal to help keep heat in. We are returning it and ordering a new one, and hopefully the second will arrive with the seal not melted and mangled. Aside from that, construction seems to be fine. It’s not the prettiest press out there but it’s the only one I could find in this exact size.

    Makes coffee. I don’t think anyone actually believes it will keep your coffee warm “all day” or whatever their gimmicky marketing tag was but that’s not why you make coffee anyway is it? That o-ring in my picture doesn’t stay put very well but it doesn’t seem very important either. All in all it’s a good piece, filters clean and doesn’t leave a muddy cup. Presses all the way to the grounds and doesn’t trap your precious, magic bean juice under the screen. I bought this because I was tired of my 3 year old cracking/breaking glass ones and I’m confident that problem is solved.

    I was an early supporter of this project on Kickstarter. I waited anxiously for it to be released. When mine finally arrived, I was disappointed. While it is hefty and keeps coffee warm for a long time, it’s only marginally better at keeping coffee warm than my Mueller French Press which is nearly 1/3 the cost. For fit and finish, mine is rough. There are two manufacturing marks in the side, and the overall finish is not smooth (perhaps intentionally to make it look more “rugged”?). The seal for the lid that the directions say specifically you’ll need “to give a good pull” to get out just isn’t tight… it slides in and out with ease and falls into place without any effort. I’m also slightly baffled that the hole in the lid that lets the coffee pour is ABOVE the seal. Even when you turn it around to the back (away from the spout), it’s still above the seal and steam/heat can easily escape through it. Overall, I’d take my Mueller press (which is hefty as well, and beautifully finished) over this one hands down.

    I love this French Press! It is always worth it to invest in good quality products. This feels good, looks great, and makes outstanding coffee. I usually stick with drip coffee because I drink a large volume, but this is convincing me to switch over to French press. This thing keeps coffee hot for many hours, is easy to use, and is just a total joy. I’ve used the glass presses before and get annoyed at how often grounds wind up above the filter. This fits tighter and if you can deal with the slightly annoying sound of the metal scraping (I’ll do anything for a cup of really good coffee!), you’ll be super happy with this product. I had bought a percolator from these guys and found it to be wonderful (though I don’t like the grounds that come out without using a filter) and wanted to try this too. I don’t know which I’ll bring camping next time, but probably the press, maybe both. They take a lot of pride in their products and I’ll be on the lookout for what they do next. This one feels like something that will last for decades. It might not, but it is solid and works amazingly well.

    Press arrived dented, but the box wasn’t so it may have happened during manufacturing. The pour spout has semi sharp edges, misaligned weld on the interior creates a sharp burr of metal. I wouldn’t be so harsh, but for a $60+ item? As a vet it’s great to see this is a veteran owned business but it is still manufactured in China.

    Great sturdy/solid French press. I wish this was made in the USA though. Some little blemishes from the manufacturer is a little bit of a bummer. Minor welding mistakes. Some scuffs/blemishes. I had to use a pair of pliers to separate the mesh strainer from the metal shaft. It was on way to tight. Also it threads on a bit canted. For a high dollar french press it could be a little more refined. Should work great for camping though.

    The last cup of coffee from our previous press was a mouthful of grounds. Double screen filter on the Coletti keeps grounds in the pot far better than our GSI press. You can see my empty cup in the pic, this was the last cup from the pot, which is usually the one with the most grounds, and there is little residue with the Coletti. I tested the Temps after having the coffee sit for a little over an hour in a 64 degree house. Coffee started out at 185. One hour later coffee was 138. We left about 2 cups in the press for 4 hours and it was just tepid, so I don’t think the 4 hour claim is correct, but our coffee usually doesn’t sit around that long anyway. The outsides and top of the press do get warm, warmer than our Cotopaxi insulated bottle, so there is heat transference, and therefore loss of heat. Press is very sturdy and comes with a nice bag. The extra capacity is great when out with friends, nothing worse than serving your friends ALL your coffee, then having to wait 10 more minutes to get your own cup. Our only dislike is that the filters are not removable. We find there are often some grounds that get stuck between the bottom metal and the lower mesh screen, it seems difficult to get 100% of the grounds out of this “trap”. Update – after several weeks of using the press, it is developing several small holes where the pour spout meets the inner wall (see last pic). We first noticed a slight whistle from the pot when we poured in hot water, but couldn’t find the source. Then I noticed when pouring, there were small bubbles arising from one of forming holes. This is the biggest one and its currently no bigger than a pin hole. But I suspect the plunger is causing some wear at this point and those holes are going to get bigger and more appear to be on their way. Ultimately water and grounds are going to get in there between the 2 layers and they won’t want to come out. This will lead to the untimely death of the press 🙁 Quite disappointed as it was doing such a good job.

    This review is long overdue. I had been using a standard percolator for our camping trips prior to this purchase. The Coletti boulder is so easy to use and yields a great coffee. I also don’t have to worry about it breaking on me or getting beat up while we are out and about. The construction of this thing is top notch. Coletti also makes an incredible coffee. Glad to have this product in my camping tool kit.
