   I pinched pennies on a fixed income for a YEAR to buy THIS! Hated that the cord was really short( 8”?) , thought it was maybe a hidden cord, but pulled with a lot of effort , while trying NOT to break it. Nope, thats as far as the cord goes. Won’t even REACH the outlet. Had to buy surge protector plug ( $10) as I am not comfortable with extension cords. paid $109 10/22 for the coffee maker. Lasted about a year, then started cutting off every so often while brewing & just got worse. Bought 4 different surge plugs hoping that was the problem. Nope. Tried holding it in the air ( NOT EASY TO DO WHEN FULL) then plugging it directly into socket. Blew the switch just like it did the plugs. It now takes almost 10 minutes to brew a pot while constantly standing there turning it back on. Called cuisinart. As it is still under manufacture warranty for 3 years. After 40 minutes of her basically repeatedly calling me a liar & forcing me to send several pics, insisting the cord was 28” & not 8”, me taking a pic of the cord with a measuring tape & her insisting on me yanking the cord until I feared it would break ( mind u, I have really good arm/hand strength). She finally said I must have a faulty one & agreed to send a new one. Then she said I had to CUT the POWER CORD on the defective one & send her a pic of it cut BEFORE they send me a new one. When I asked how long it would be before I received the new one? 7-10 days?! So I am supposed to go 7-10 days WITHOUT COFFEE?! SERIOUSLY?! She said, well, IF u want a NEW ONE, YES. WOW! So close to $200 later after buying all the new plugs, sending her video & PROVING THE PROBLEM, being talked to like I am a COMPLETE IDIOT for 40 minutes I am now being PUNISHED for at LEAST 7-10 DAYS?! I RARELY GET ANY SLEEP as I am an unpaid livein caregiver for my disabled veteran cousin on a fixed income as well & absolutely NEED COFFEE TO FUNCTION. I have to do IV antibiotics on him @6am & have GOT to be ALERT to do the procedure correctly. Did I mention I am also disabled on a fixed income & unable to drive? now I have to figure out WHO I CAN BORROW $ from, HOW to GET TO A STORE, PURCHASE A CHEAP COFFEE POT to use till THAT one GETS HERE, then figure out HOW to GET BACK TO THE STORE RETURN THE ONE I BUY?! all for a coffee maker that has NOW DROPPED TO $69?! CUISINART should be ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES taking advantage of disabled people. KNOWING THEY HAVE NO OPTION BUT TO DO WITHOUT.

   We have had it for about 8 months now, so we have run into quite a few things that are just plain odd design choices. 1) The top area that shoots the water down is so close to the coffee, about 10% of it splashes back up onto the water spouts and is a plain to clean because they are raised up. (see photo 2) 2) The coffee maker will go off at the set time, whether the top is closed or not(the part that shoots the super hot water). We once left it up on accident getting it ready the night prior, and woke up to a very wet kitchen floor. Cannot imagine if someone was in there when it happened. The fact there is no safety check to see if the door is closed before shooting water out is beyond me. We had a Ninja coffee maker and you had to have it perfect or it would warn you on any small issue. 3) Back to the splash up of the coffee grounds when they are hit with the hot water, they also fall down the door when you open it, into an area that is pretty much impossible to clean well and just holds lots of grounds and coffee residue. It makes this extremely annoying to clean completely. (see photo 1 after a fresh round was just done) 4) The water filter makes no sense. It is at the bottom of the water area, but there is a gap between the bottom and where the filter sits and where the water goes through…now correct me if I am wrong, but it is supposed to be a pass through filter but has a gap below it? What makes the water pass through it. Or I got a faulty filter holder. (see photo 3 – I had removed the filter to show the gap below it) Now, if all this won’t bother you, then it isn’t a bad coffee maker. I love the way it holds the coffee and keeps it warm over a few hours vs a carafe. I just can’t deal with the much added work around it. I check coffeemakers.us.com every few months to see if they came out with a “pro” version, or one that doesn’t have all these horrible design decisions. Alas, guess we go back to a ninja with a metal carafe.

   Cuisinart confirmed today 120424 over the phone that the WRONG CHARCOAL FILTER HOLDER was provided with our new unit. It does not fit into the grooves in the water tank and ultimately comes lose and floats. Cuisinart is sending us a new holder but wanted to make others aware of this issue. We’ve had three of these coffee makers. We really like the carafe-less design, which for some reason is hard to find. Our last one however was a disappointment as the water tank cracked after less than 2 years of careful handwashing. Once I receive the correct filter I’m hoping this one holds up.

   I read through a lot of reviews on coffee makers recently before purchasing this one, and we’ve been very happy with it. I noticed a lot of reviewers for this coffee maker having similar issues with cleaning/grinds getting stuck, so I thought I’d write a review and add some pictures of how to clean and maintain this pot. That seems to be the issue. The removable water tank on this is why we bought it and it doesn’t disappoint. Just lifts out and it can stand on its own in the sink which makes it super easy to fill. There is a charcoal filter that sits where the water moves through so filling it from the tap is easy. We previously had a Cuisinart so I’m happy we can still use the same filters. The filter basket is easy to lift out and clean. It comes with a gold one but we prefer paper filters. The manual is VERY specific about using one OR the other, so don’t double up (like we did the first time.) I found Bunn brand filters are slightly taller than standard and work perfect in here. When cleaning out the filter, I just hold the handle with one finger and dump the whole thing in the garbage. Someone complained about the handle getting in the way and making a mess, so that’s how I prevent that. That gets rinsed and put aside to dry after each use. In my pictures next is the inside of the pot where the coffee tank is. At first I thought, how am I ever going to get this clean? After a minute I realized the entire tank simply lifts out by a handle!! I have a feeling a lot of people aren’t taking this out to clean it daily, and that will definitely cause issues. There are some grinds leftover no matter what we do so it’s very important to clean this. I just rinse it a few times and put it aside to air dry. IMPORTANT STEP! On the underside it says to push in on the valve while rinsing the coffee tank so that water flows through. This will keep any grinds from getting stuck. It’s got to be impossible to have issues with this machine if you’re doing this. My last picture shows the top view of the opening where the coffee tank valve meets the “button” to dispense coffee. There is nothing there, nothing to get stuck. This tells me that the issues of the button getting stuck and gunked up with grinds are because people aren’t taking out the tank and finding through the valve often. This machine is really well designed. All extra water in the machine funnels down to the drip tray, so there aren’t any weird puddles or spills. Drip tray is removable, so when my husband has to fill his huge Yeti before work, he just takes it out and leans his Yeti against the edge of the counter. The buttons and functions are easy to use, auto off is customizable which we like. The coffee tank keeps the coffee hotter for longer than your typical carafe. We grind our beans daily and our coffee is very consistent in taste. Our toddler loves to get us our coffee by using the button so that’s a fun extra. Overall, a really great machine with easy to use functions and should last a very long time with proper maintenance as per the manual.

   Cuisinart Coffee on Demand™ 12 Cup Programmable Coffeemaker Model: DCC-3000P1 I purchased my DCC-3000 coffeemaker on November 20, 2023. A number of years ago I own an earlier model of the Cuisinart ‘On Demand’ style coffeemaker. I prefer this style of coffee maker, no pot, but my earlier model failed (3 times) so I went back to the Coffee Pot style coffeemakers. A recent visit to a relative’s home introduced me to the latest Cuisinart On Demand model, so I decided to return to the On Demand style. After using the DCC-3000P1 for three weeks, I have been pleased with its operation and the coffee is great. I also like some of the improvements over my older model, one being the addition of a replaceable charcoal water filter pod that is in the water tank. Well, after looking at the water filter system, I realized it is absolutely worthless for filtering the water. The replaceable Filter Pod fits in a black plastic holder that is used to insert it into the 8 plastic post holder that is in the bottom of the water tank over the waters’ drain. The 8 posts hold the Filter Pod holder nearly a ¼” above the water drain, so water just flows around the filter to the drain. To filter the water, the water has to pass thru the filter, not around it. So the water tank filter design is flawed and does NOT filer the water. I attempted to call Cuisinart’s customer service to explain the filters design flaw but the girl I spoke to could only instruct me on how to install the filter, which I was capable of doing myself. My explanation to the customer service girl about the flaw in the system didn’t motivate her to pursue a solution. So, while I like the Coffeemaker style (on demand) and the ‘idea’ of a water filter system, the Cuisinart DCC-3000 filter system DOES NOT filter the water. So save your money on replacement water filter pods and don’t bother even using one them. I wish I could have talked to someone at Cuisinart about this design flaw and get a resolution, but the Customer Service ‘first responders’ seem to only be able to assist with basic user problems. R.    So far, so good. I read all the reviews before purchasing this coffee maker. There were e few concerns about some black flakes in the coffee from the plastic, I guess..? We’ve only had this thing for a week, but so far; no flakes! Even the gage is working correctly, although we don’t really need it, since we usually drink 2 mugs each in the morning and it makes enough coffee for that. The only thing I don’t like is that you have to take the water tank out each time you want to fill it with water. Or use a pitcher to fill it up. It’s nice that it comes with its own water filter. It’s very quiet and keeps the coffee hot enough for us to drink our two cups in the morning. It beeps twice when it’s shutting off, after two hours, I think. It fits under our cabinets on the kitchen counter, but you do have to pull it out when filling the water/coffee. No big deal. You have to yank on the cord a little to pull it out at first. You can also remove the little shelf in the front do you have a commuter mug or something tall to pulpit your coffee into. Our last Cuisnart coffee maker lasted over ten years! Let’s hope this one does too…

   This is an excellent coffee maker. I like the simplicity of not having a carafe to take care of. All the coffee enters the tank and stays very hot for a couple of hours. It has a single button to dispense the coffee. This is a great feature for my 86 year old mom. She could not lift the carafe, but can refill her coffee with a simple press of the button. It has three parts, the tank, the filter and the holder for the filter. I typically remove the entire tank to clean and remove the coffee grinds (to the compost bin). I don’t find it difficult to clean. I did not like the flat filter basket, only because I don’t think that the coffee is as strong as with a cone shaped filter. This coffee maker, replaced a 15 year old Cuisinart which still works for large pots of coffee, but not smaller pots, which I normally make. Also, it barely has any stainless steel on it. Only the control panel section. My old coffee maker was wrapped in 3 sides with stainless steel. Over, it has been an excellent coffee maker.

    Overall, really like the coffee maker. Brews good coffee and does it much faster than our older coffee maker (say about 10min to get 12 cups). Some observations based on other reviews I read prior to purchasing: – The charcoal filter not seating fully on the water outlet on the reservoir, and therefore not providing any filtering. This is absolutely true – it doesn’t sit fully on the outlet, allowing water to completely bypass any filtering. Total design flaw that was likely not caught in any quality controls during prototype or testing. Doesn’t bother me, I just don’t use the filter. – The power cord length being really short. Some reviews say that the cord is only a foot or so long (or even shorter) requiring an extension cord. I can only speak for myself but our coffee maker’s cord was plenty long. I will say, however, this was possible only after tugging on the plug end pretty hard to get the remaining cord length out of the storage area on the bottom. My guess is that people that had this problem didn’t pull hard enough.

    Update: After several brews, it happened; a leak! Thankfully I was brewing on demand and had a cup sitting ready so it filled the cup. I’ve found that my sometimes too finely ground coffee will migrate from the filter basket into the reservoir. So now I know to make sure the dispenser area is completely free from debris before brewing. I just run some hot water through a couple times and if there’s no leaking, it’s safe to set the auto-brewing. Humbug but there’s a downside to every device. I am still pleased with it. I don’t know what happened at the Cuisinart lab or testing center but they are serious about this ridiculously short cord. You will need an extension cord. I followed the setup & use instructions closely because I was concerned about the leaking. I have not experienced leaking like some reviewers but I’ve only used it three times so far. Once pre-programmed and twice brewed on demand. The coffee flavor is what you make it. It depends on the quality of your coffee beans and your measurements. And of course the clean water. The charcoal filter in the water reservoir might help? But I’m not sure yet. So far I’m happy with this coffee maker. Although a four hour keep warm time is a bit of a stretch. As usual, if you want piping hot coffee, it needs to be the 1st cup.

    We purchased this make and model because our last one served us very well for many years (7-10? who remembers?). We make an 8 cup batch every single day and finally had to replace it due to a pin hole leak in the pump. Our water is extremely hard so obviously the charcoal filter did a very good job for a long time. So far, my only objection is the length of the power cord. It is located at the very bottom of the coffee maker. There is a 1/2 inch shield over the top and then it extends for 1/2 inch to the plug. Not kidding. There is no scenario under which I could plug directly into a wall socket. So, I am compelled to use an extension cord in a very vulnerable position. Any amount of water or coffee spillage would be dangerous. I understand the need to cut costs these days and the cord tends to be the first casualty, but this is ridiculous. A few extra pennies would be worth it. We love this brand and are looking for a safe solution so we can keep it.

    WHY TO BUY THIS: 1. Programming features help if you have trouble managing your time in the mornings. BUT you should read the instruction manual to learn how it works. I did this and it works perfectly. Some people are very handy and smart and don’t think instruction manuals or demos are worth their time. Things that can’t figured out by instinct simply “don’t work.” I get that. Just know what type of person you are before buying. 2. Coffee stays hot. Most coffee-snob approved devices do not include an approach to keep your coffee hot, unfortunately. BUT once you have a machineful of hot coffee, do not touch any buttons after that, or it thinks you’re doing something new and shuts off the heating element. 3. Very easy cleaning. This = freedom from digging grounds out of a french press and banging the expresso puck into the trash. Priceless. 4. No regular coffee machine issues! No spilly carafes, No drips of burned coffee on the element, No grounds in the device (it’s nicely designed to help with that, No worrying about whether it’s turned off after you leave the house. NOTES: 1. It does fit under a cabinet, but you have to move it forward (i.e., out from under a cabinet) to open the lid to add water and coffee. Not sure that’s clear in other reviews. I attached a picture of my low hanging cabinets from the 80s – they are a worst case scenario compared to most kitchens. 2. My E-F valve does work, in an antique kitchen scale kind of way. It is “full” relative to the amount of water you’ve put in. If you add enough water to only make 3 cups of coffee, it’s going to say that it’s F when there’s 3 cups made. 3. It’s made of plastic inside. Probably not ideal for people who have issues with that. 4. Only pour in in the exact amount of water you need to make that batch of coffee. 5. If you get the refurbished one like me, buying an extra gold filter is unnecessary. I did this, but notice it’s a lot faster and easier just to use paper filters.

    My coffee maker suddenly broke so I read several consumer reports and this model was in most of them if not all of them, ranked No. 1 via one report from the official “Consumer Reports” brand.

    I was intrigued by the notion of no coffee pot. I thought it was a really nice-looking machine. But in theory, I felt like there would be more cleaning to do because the coffee is stored inside the machine in a reservoir, and I assumed it would be tricky to clean that out every day.

    I decided to just give it a shot. It arrived and right away, I thought it looked a lot more impressive than I’d expected. It’s a very sharp looking machine. Also, it keeps a pot of coffee hot longer than your typical coffee pot, in my experience. This is important to me as I drink coffee for hours after I wake up.

    First night, I set the coffee maker to brew a pot 10 minutes before I would be waking up. I got up that morning, came to my kitchen, viola. Fresh brewed coffee, no pot, just a convenient tab you press down like when you’re getting coffee in a hotel lobby.

    Have had it for about a week now. Cleaning the coffee filter out and the coffee reservoir (the chamber that holds the whole pot of coffee inside the machine, is much easier than I expected. Both the coffee filter and the coffee reservoir/chamber have convenient little handles, and they slide right out of there with ease. And then it’s really easy to rinse them.

    I can honestly say that so far, this coffee maker has been much better in general than I expected. It looks nicer than I expected, it’s easier to operate and clear than I anticipated, the coffee stays hotter and taste better than I’d expected.

    I’m a fan of Cuisinart, but wanted to try something different from the carafe. I love the look of this machine and happy I made the purchase. My favorite feature is having my cup sitting & waiting in the morning after the timer has brewed, and all I have to do is press the lever and an illuminated stream of coffee is dispensed in a dimly lit kitchen. The drawback would be the extra steps for the cleaning. You have the coffee grounds basket which sits in another basket, which sits in the insulated reservoir where the coffee is kept hot. The java reservoir/container doesn’t need to be cleaned every day. Then you of course have to fill the water tank on the side. You can find some videos on YouTube that show all of these steps, which makes it easier to understand. I’m happy with the purchase and think it’s great idea from the everyday carafe coffee maker.

    I waited several months to write a review. This is because I have been burned by purchases before that are great at first and fall apart 3 months or so later. At first glance, this coffee maker is great! It brews hot coffee, apposed to a cheaper coffee maker and all parts are washable. Or, so I thought. The fact is that about 20% of the coffee reservoir cannot be accessed because it is blocked off by a rather silly implemented “float” mechanism that is supposed to show you how much is left in the basin. The reality of it is that most people have no need for this. 12 cups makes 4 drinkable cups (and a little more) for myself and wife in the morning with a tiny bit left over. That’s two coffee mugs each and I don’t need a gauge to remind me to count to 2. That being said, I rinse out the unit after every use and wash it weekly. It has never alerted me to de-calcify the unit, but I have done that twice since the vinegar solution also does remove some of the coffee off the metal heat transfer plate at the bottom. Last night, the unit started to emmit black flakes that would crumble apart at the touch. I thought it was coffee, and read what others have already mentioned here. I spent 2 hours last night rinsing, using vinegar clean cycle, scrubbing, etc and it didn’t make a difference. This morning, after spending another 30 minutes at it, I removed the two screws at the bottom (they require a long screw driver shaft) to remove the top section of the basin. This allowed the float unit to slide right out. I was disgusted at what I saw. I quickly got excited as I examined the coffee basin and realized that the coffee maker would work without reinserting the float. Unfortunately, even with the float removed, the black flakes continued to come out. I found that I was able to scrape off the flakes with a wet paper towel and did so for about 20 minutes before I came to a conclusion. This isn’t coffee. After the coffee residue was removed, the black flakes continued to come off the same spots and had a shiny, glittery quality to them. It almost looks like teflon when it gets scrapped off a pan. I then tried to wipe the interior of the coffee maker – the part that stays mostly dry (with the exception of water getting splashed on the sides) and what do you know. Very slight flaking and plastic strips coming off the side. I did not use the butter knife to scrape it out. I used it to scoop it from the bottom because my hand wouldn’t fit inside. I HIGHLY do not recommend this coffee maker simply for health reasons. Do a google search and you will that the black flaking problem is not limited to only this particular model but several Cuisinart models. My guess it is either the plastic that is being used or a heat resistant coating that is being used. Either way, even if it is non-toxic, I would never be able to recommend to someone else. At the moment, I am now looking for a completely serviceable machine made from glass and stainless steel where all parts are removable and washable. Even if it’s something meant for commercial use rather than home use.

    The coffee maker has a few significant issues that make it hard to recommend. 1. Grinds clogging the spout: Coffee grinds tend to get stuck in the spout where the coffee dispenses, causing leaks. This happens when the basket overfills, which is easy to do because the coffee basket is very small. It holds only about half a cup of grounds, so if you try to add more for a stronger brew, it overflows, spilling grinds into the tank. While rinsing the tank usually solves the issue, sometimes a stray grind will stick in the spout, preventing it from closing properly and causing a mess. 2. Weak coffee: The small coffee basket limits how much ground coffee you can use, which likely explains why many reviewers complain about weak brews. 3. Metallic taste: The coffee sits directly on heated metal in the tank due to the built-in metal warmer, which gives the coffee a noticeable metallic flavor. In contrast, traditional coffee makers use glass pots, avoiding this issue. 4. Inconsistent timer: The “set timer” feature is unreliable. About half the time, the coffee maker turns on immediately instead of waiting for the set time. This means you might wake up to coffee that’s been sitting for seven hours—not exactly the fresh start you’d hope for. While the push-button pour feature is convenient, it’s not enough to outweigh the machine’s flaws. Between the leaks, weak coffee, metallic taste, and unreliable timer, this coffee maker falls short of expectations.

    Pros: I like that I no longer have to pour my coffee and worry about making a mess. I like the overall size /footprint. It’s not any bigger than a normal size 12/14 cup coffee maker. Coffee is hot and has timer to set how long you would like it to stay on before turning off. 24 hr timer to let you brew when ever you want a cup. Negative: #1) cup are should be taller so it would make viewing your coffee area easier while you fill it. The light doesn’t help if you have a normal size 8oz coffee cup setting under it. #2) charcoal filter why even have it? It set above the drain that the water is sucked through and does not have the water go through it but around It. Why even have it? Overall review is great and I give it 5 stars. I found this model when I was searching the internet and was reading reviews from consumers reports. They gave this coffee maker a very high review and I can see why. We all want a coffee maker that brews a nicely cup of coffee and keeps it warm for us. This does that with out all the bells and whistles of the $300-400 coffee makers. Trust me you wouldn’t be disappointed when buying this coffee maker.

    First, this is a very good coffee maker. Coffee is flavorful and is kept hot in its dispensing reservoir. Having no carafe to wash is nice, however, the coffee reservoir tank has to be similarly cleaned (it is removable) and given all of its crevices, is actually harder to clean than a regular carafe. The polished metal heating pad at the bottom of the reservoir will stain within a few weeks of use (you can de-stain it by using some Barkeeper’s Friend cleaning powder but, again, this is more work than you’d have cleaning a regular glass carafe). And you absolutely must keep the spring-loaded pour spout clean to avoid drips. Another issue with the reservoir is that it has a catch that connects to the machine’s coffee “fuel gauge” so that you know how much coffee is left in the tank. This is a great feature, however, you can expect it to fail with 100% probability within 2-3 years of your purchase and, as far as I could tell, there is no way to fix it (I honestly don’t even know why it fails since it’s presumably a simple float mechanism). You can purchase a replacement reservoir right here on coffeemakers.us.com for $45 (search for “Cuisinart Coffee Reservoir”). While this will fix the fuel gauge problem, depending on the price you paid for the coffee maker, the replacement reservoir can be as much as 50% of your original purchase cost. We purchased a replacement reservoir about 2 years after purchasing the coffee maker when the fuel gauge stopped working properly. The replacement actually lasted much longer than the original, around 6-7 years before it failed. At that point, I just bought another Cuisinart Coffee maker on sale because it was like getting a replacement reservoir for $45 plus an entirely new coffee maker for about that same price (gave away the original coffee maker with the wonky fuel gauge). We’re much more diligent about cleaning and drying the water and coffee reservoirs so that they don’t accumulate ugly scale. We never encountered a “clean” light issue as some reviews have mentioned here. Again, this is a very good coffee maker but be aware that it requires cleaning diligence and the coffee reservoir will almost certainly need to be replaced within a couple of years of your purchase if you want to have a working fuel gauge. The original Cuisinart coffee maker we purchased 12 years ago is essentially identical to the one we just purchased so Cuisinart, who are undoubtedly aware of the issue with the reservoir have made no attempt to address it. My advice would be to only buy this on sale (around $80-$90). Do not pay the regular price (about $120) as this machine is not worth that amount given the future additional costs that you will be paying.

    I’ve owned two Cuisanart coffee makers in the past (both Grind & Brews) and this maker is just as good, if not a bit better from a cleaning perspective. Just empty the gold tone filter and wash with warm soapy water and you’re done. The fact that there isn’t a carafe is kind of genius. Having owned two Keurigs over the past few years, I grew tired of the K-Cups and really craved a good old-fashioned cup of coffee. You’re going to get that with this machine. The design is quite beautiful and I love how it lights up your coffee as you pour into your mug. Those familiar with Cuisanart will probably like that the machine has similar features to the other models, including the five gentle beeps it makes after completing the brew cycle. It takes about 7 minutes to brew a full 12 cups. I brew about 2 cups daily and this model is perfect for that. Easy to set the night before, brews quickly, gives off a nice aroma, and clean up is minimal. Regarding commuter mugs: I use the Oxo Good Grips stainless steel mug and it fits under the machine after you remove the drip tray. If you have anything taller, it’s not going to fit unless you angle the mug under the pour spout. The reviewers who complained about the electric cord being too short don’t realize that you need to tug firmly when you first remove from the box. The cord is exactly the length stated in the product description. A gentle yank should do the trick. See my photo for reference. Although I do love the minimal parts and effort to clean after using, I would like to see another model like this with the Grind & Brew option. I am a big fan of that model because you don’t have to use a separate device to grind the beans. But, you go into it knowing you have to clean the grinding chamber and its lid daily (hence why two less parts to clean on this model is attractive, in addition to not cleaning a carafe and lid daily). Overall this is a fantastic machine for those tired of the K-Cups, Nespresso pods, etc., but want a similar machine using “normal coffee.”
