   Not pleased with the seller, apparently one Clark Chen of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, CEO of Desung US (annual estimated gross revenue about $33k). When I unboxed the carafe I found that the handle was chipped (see photos–black cardboard used for contrast). It had been smoothed out (someone used emery cloth) so it didn’t cut me, but the structural integrity of the glass handle is compromised, AND it was supposed to be NEW. I emailed [email protected] last month requesting a new carafe, but I have not heard from them. Indeed, when I unboxed the product, it looked like this may have been a returned item that they quickly “fixed”, put back in the box and shipped (perhaps a sign that the company is financially distressed). I did NOT order a refurbished unit. I don’t expect them to stand behind their product and cannot recommend them. All that being said, this unit makes fairly good coffee, though not as good as my brother’s Keurig. Essential oils account for much of coffee’s taste; I think those oils get filtered out by the cloth filter in the siphoning process. This leaves you with a cup of somewhat good-tasting, very clear coffee. Also, this unit boils the water–that’s what forces the water from the carafe into the upper tank–and I have heard that boiled water doesn’t necessarily make the best coffee. Coffee at the 5 CUP mark will fill about 2.5 regular coffee cups. Cleaning the carafe is difficult owing to the narrow neck. Same with the upper tank’s glass stem (take care, it’s fragile). The bristles on the included brush are too stiff to use for cleaning either carafe or tank. The cloth filter will have to be replaced fairly often. Also, when the water in the carafe moves into the upper unit, it leaves about 1/4 inch of water in the bottom of the carafe. Thus, when the coffee siphons back down into the carafe it is diluted to some extent. I guess I like the concept of a siphon coffee maker better than the reality. Anyway, if the company DOES get back to me, great. If they simply respond to my review calling me a kook, or denying that they repackage returned items, I can’t say it wasn’t expected. Still trying to decide whether to keep using it or chuck it for a Keurig. Good luck!

   This is a great product. It yields flavorful coffee and fairly quick too. We still haven’t figured out the best way to clean the actual coffee pot, because it has a small bottle neck, but that’s no big deal. It is fragile, so you have to keep it out of reach of little hands. Overall, we love it. It’s perfect for those leisurely mornings.

   After about 1.5 weeks, the top compartment cracked. So bummed. Fortunately, coffeemakers.us.com is the best and is sending us a new one now, and we will just send this one back. I think the best advice I have is to treat this thing with the utmost caution. It’s so fragile. But, we love it still.

   Be warned you should never leave this plugged in overnight when you set it for the morning. I made that mistake and woke to a mess of coffee all over my counter, the pot was burnt, and the electric maker was ruined. We love this maker enough that we replaced it again. Third time’s the charm…

   To coin a phrase, it’s all about the base… What makes this siphon coffee maker stand out above the rest is how easy it is to control the heat. The electric base that the pot plugs into is so much easier to manage than either alcohol based or propane burner, and even the infrared heater that’s available for these. And yes, I’ve used all of them (the infrared was disappointing). The propane burner is OK, but I find it runs out of fuel after a couple of uses and I’m constantly refilling it. The Queen Sense is nearly as easy as a standard drip coffee maker as you just fill it with water, put the grounds in the top siphon, and turn it on. Wait for the science experiment to start and magic to happen, then enjoy your coffee. The only downside is that the coffee pot/heating element is a sealed unit, so if you break the pot (which I did), there is no easy replacement. An expensive lesson in where to put your coffee maker, which is not below the spice rack. Lesson learned. My Hario is collecting dust since I got this one.

   Hands down, the better way to brew coffee. This vacuum, siphon brewer is made in China and I do not like that fact. But what this is is an upgraded Klarstein vacuum, siphon brewer. I’m guessing that Klarstein sold the design to QueenSense. With that out of the way, I owned this product for many years and I almost cried when the bottom part of the fused glass handle cracked, making the brewer unusable. After searching for another copy, it became clear that there were none available, anywhere. So, 2 years later, I find on coffeemakers.us.com the QueenSense model. I am/was overjoyed and I bought 2 of them. The fact that after brewing, you have to wiggle the top portion, the reservoir, out of the pot is a bit of a hassle…because the reservoir is hot, well I can live with that… This design does really make an excellent, monstrously great cup of coffee. The price, honestly, cheap for what you get. This QueenSense design does have a couple of upgrades to the original Klarstein design, the top of the pot, the spout, is thicker glass and the connector, that electrical connection between the base of the unit and the corresponding connector on the bottom of the pot is improved. In closing, overall, a love – hate circumstance, I am overjoyed to see the vacuum, siphon design AGAIN AVAILABLE, but I do hate that this coffee brewer is made in China….

   Great electric siphon coffee maker！ I have had fun using it and makes a fine cup of coffee.The coffee is amazing every time and you can get about 3 cups. I love how it looks and how it functions. The electronic temperature control is convenience and safety. It is very good product, and totally worth the price. I would like to recommend this coffee maker to anyone.

   I have few years experience for siphon coffee. First time to get electricity troc siphon coffee brewer. I tested this one with dark roasted ground coffee for 120s brew. Outcome is as great as alcohol stove. It comes with with some accessories- bar spoon and coffee measure spoon. Advantages are convenience and safety. Cz it is electricity and I don’t need to store alcohol stove any more,(my kid won’t get chance to touch alcohol stove). Plus, there is digital screen and both “auto 60s” modern and “manual up to 180s” modern. I don’t need to keep another timer to control brew time. Others are almost same to classical one. The coffee maker is my new toy. My tester, my wife loves flavor, and love it for the convenience. Therefore, what else I should speak? Stroooooong recommended!!!
