   Very disappointed. Machine looked substantial and fit well in the space I have for a coffee maker. Machine will NOT work with all brands of K-cups. Label on the machine and on the box indicates it does, but the troubleshooting directions says if your K-cup explodes to try a different brand of K-cup. I don’t want a “different” brand. I tried 3 K-cups and they all exploded. I tried a SF brand and it worked. I prefer to use a machine that works with any K-cup…or at least the one I prefer

   Firstly, I could never get this coffee maker to use premade pods without making a mess so I just used the attachment for coffee grounds. Then that attachment broke so I started using my own pods filled with coffee grounds. Still cannot use the regular pods. Just after having it a year, it started not emptying all the water from the reservoir or it over heated the water and it evaporated because I’m not getting a full cup of coffee. Would not buy this brand again.

   I like that my Contigo thermos mug fits under this coffee maker with room to spare. It makes a great mug of coffee. I’ve used it every day since I purchased it a month ago. I like that the coffee filter has a lid to keep grounds contained! So far I’m very happy with it.

   I bought this coffeemaker after reading dozens of reviews. This one was highly rated, despite being reasonably priced. I should have known: sometimes cheap costs too much. I got this for my daughter for Mother’s Day, and it worked well for about 3 weeks. Then when she tried to brew a cup, the coffee exploded all over the counter. She cleaned it out, made sure the tube wasn’t clogged. It worked for another 2 weeks, then today she had another coffee explosion. I’m sorry, but if an appliance isn’t reliable, it’s useless. Unfortunately for us, the window for return closed 2 days before the first incident, so word to the wise: send it back as soon as it fails; don’t assume it was a one-time thing.

   Received coffee pot on Aug 3rd. Have used it exactly (5) days at (2) cups max a day. Today, Aug 11, the pot stopped working. I would push the button and the light would just blink. I googled and checked reviews and found, “Hold brew button 3 seconds”, didn’t work in my case. “Unplug 30 sec then plug in, hold brew button for 3 sec.” Did not work in my case. “Clean upper and lower needles with a paperclip and water.” Did not work in my case. “Tap the bobber in the reservoir so it can sense the water.” Took apart cover and everything I could inside the reservoir, found no bobber or anything of the sort, so obviously did not work in my case. What I ultimately discovered was the two buttons circled in the terrible photo attached were stuck (top) and lopsided (bottom). I pushed and released the top button a good few times, followed by gently pulling the bottom button in an upward manner freeing it from its stuck position. I tested a cup, pushed the button, works as it should. Immediately brewed another cup and worked as it should. Will keep an eye on this and update as necessary. Hope this helps somebody who needs a cup of coffee while sitting in their cubicle and is at a loss as I was.

I like my Maxwell House coffee grounds. The machine is much simpler to use and especially to clean than the other most popular brand that all my friends have. This machine is quiet and efficient.     La cafetera es muy eficiente, le he sacado mucho provecho al filtro para cafe de grano, pero he tenido problemas para conseguir capsulas K-cup que son las únicas que le quedan, por acá en México. La mayoría de las capsulas disponibles en el mercado son Dolce gusto o sistema Nespresso. Ninguna le queda obviamente.     There’s some serious photoshopping done in that picture with the coffee mug, because I had to remove everything to get my coffee cup in under. Then there was the whole no reservoir deal I didn’t pay attention to. You put in the amount of water per cup you want to brew. It’s only me and that is unacceptably inconvenient! So the actual brewing process… the bold brew button works! That’s the only positive. It’s not even a pretty red. But, moving on, put the coffee pod in and the lid tries to pop up halfway thru – had to hold it down till brewing finished, only to find grounds from the k-cup were literally everywhere throughout the appliance as well as in my coffee! Second cup I used a Green Mountain pod – the lid stayed down this time, which was surprising considering the pod got crushed! I’m not even waiting to get my refund for this to order a different coffee maker! Extremely disappointed! 🙁

    I bought this coffee maker just over a month ago. I only use it on weekends when I am at home and have to the time to have a nice cup of coffee. The instructions at the front start to rub off for the Regular Brew. This is bad because I can count the number of times I use this coffee maker and I don’t even clean there. I only wipe where the coffee spills with a damp cloth if necessary. I am disappointed in this coffee maker from Hamilton Beach.

    This coffee maker is great for single cups of coffee has regular brew bowl brew easy to fill easy to clean. You can put as much water in as you want for the coffee to come out however, many ounces use it every morning very durable great price for the value, just put your water in the amount you want put your cake cup in and press regular or bold and it starts right up !

    We have been brewing our coffee for several years with the black Hamilton Beach FlexBrew in the picture. It still works perfectly! I saw the red one in the Web site, and my wife loves RED appliances. So we now have two! I use ground coffee, and wife likes caramel pods. The old brewer made excellent coffee both ways, and was easy to use and keep clean. The new? Same results, plus it has a setting for bold brew. It really works! I use a bit less coffee grounds, and the flavor is wonderful. The old black brewer has been cleaned and is there standing by. Wife likes the red, so much that we now have a red Hamilton Beach can opener too.

    Well I bought this because I thought the idea of switching between K Cups for the kid’s hot cocoa and the reusable basket for my coffee grounds would be a huge advantage over the old Scoop coffee maker I had before. The Good: It’s pretty simple to use once you do it a couple of times. The flavor of my coffee was great, and the temperature is very very hot. It also doesn’t take a long time to brew single or 14 ounce servings. The side has a window so you can see how much water is in the machine. The Bad: It’s not terribly convenient to clean afterward. The hinge on the coffee grounds basket doesn’t seem to want to stay closed until it is sitting squarely in the coffee maker and the cover is latched down. Being at an angle, I have to wonder if the grounds aren’t settling over the Max line once it is set in the machine, and won’t stay closed. It’s also pretty bulky for what it is. Single serve coffee makers can be smaller. The Ugly: As of the morning of this review, the coffee maker blew open under pressure, sending darn near boiling hot water and coffee grounds everywhere. See picture. A few expletives were said, and I spent the next 15 minutes cleaning it all up. I think the latch failed because it didn’t seem to want to latch down securely afterward. Note: I had filled the coffee basket to just below the Max line, and put in 14 ounces of water, right at the fill line. This was only my 6-7th time using the unit. I was able to brew another cup after cleanup, but I don’t trust this thing not to explode on me at 5:30 am when I’m trying to get out the door to go to work. So I returned it at Kohl’s, drove to Walmart, and bought a new Scoop for $37. Overall, this would be a good coffee maker, worthy of at least 4 stars if not for the faulty latch mechanism and clumsy filter basket. However, considering how badly this would have ended had I been standing right in front of the coffee maker when it blew out, I have to give it less than 3 stars. While it is a clever design, I do not recommend this to anyone due to the faulty latch potential creating a safety hazard. Do yourself a favor and either get a Keurig for your K Cups, or buy a Hamilton Beach Scoop for your single serve grounds.

    With a lot of use, this coffee maker may make less than a full cup. Here’s the solution I found. First, follow manufacturer’s instructions to clean nozzles and descale. If the machine still makes less than a full cup, remove the one screw that holds the reservoir plastic screen (image one). Clean the round bubble screen (as shown in image two) with a Q-Tip or something soft to clear the screen of coffee residue. Rinse and repeat until the screen looks clean and unclogged. You should now get back as much liquid as you put in the reservoir.

    Bought this in March, worked fine but a bit slow. Last week started getting a few grounds in coffee, I thought perhaps I hadn’t cleaned it well enough, after cleaning all parts I got even more grounds and almost all the grounds from the k cup were in the coffee cup. After checking again discovered the piercing needle was making such large holes it was emptying the grounds into the cup along with the water and started spurting a mess from the under top closure, and only half a cup. So back to another brand. Don’t waste your time and money.

    We just got it today and after its first use were satidfied so far. Do not fill over the 14oz. Mark or the first few ozs will be just water before the coffe starts to come out. We have only used the brew basket so far as we have a big container of coffe grounds. I got this because we dont have time to finish a whole pot of coffe due to our work but we can enjoy a hot cup when we have time to swing by the house I will update after a few weeks of using.

    We bought one that was a refurbished unit on June 12 of 2024 and July 10, 2024. The brew light had quit working. The normal cycle had stopped running any unit leaks only way it will run is if you use strong cycle and it still does not have a running light except for every once in a while, so you can hardly tell when coffee maker is working purchasing one that was refurbished in my opinion was a mistake. I do love having a Hamilton Beach flex brew coffee maker, but purchasing one refurbished is not the best idea I believe purchasing a new one would be better. That is why I only gave this review 2 1/2 to 3 stars.

    This just came in March, ’23, & I’ve used this 9 times. I usually use kcups but have also tried ground coffee as well. Ground coffee filter has a max line of 1.5 tbspns of coffee, but you can Stretch to almost 2 tbspns. The water fill line on the side is not compatible with the measuring cup of water oz I add; I’ll add 6-8 oz bottled water, & side panel says 4-5 oz. I don’t get good tasting coffee with the regular brew button, even with 6 oz water for 8 oz k cup. The “max brew” (brew bold) button is not much better for coffee flavor. I’ve tried different amounts of water, but I cannot get that perfect coffee taste. I cleaned it after 4th use per HB protocol with 3/4 cup white vinegar & 1/4 cup water & rinsed with clear bottled water twice after, & still can’t get a good cup of coffee. Plus it’s a bit big for my counter. So off to Donation site it goes, & I’m going back to Keurig, & just know I must replace it after year or so as needed.

    This is the opposite of those super skinny coffee makers the same width as your cup, that tip over if you look at them wrong and are difficult to fill without spilling all over the place. Big, sturdy, easy to fill, and looks good too. Very easy to clean – both needle parts come out with no tools. Bottom stand can be removed for tall cups. Includes permanent filter if you like to use your own grounds. My only complaint (why I took off one star) is that the label has started to rub off the “BREW REG” button after only about a half dozen uses – see photo. No biggy, purely cosmetic and still works fine. More reliable than the last 2 Keurig brand machines we had with big water tanks on the side/back. If those Keurig machines even come close to running dry they suck in air and stop working till you take it apart and purge the air from the hoses – a real pain! Not a problem with a machine like that that was actually designed to handle running dry every time!

    I gave this unit three mornings to show me that it wasn’t a colossal waste of money, and all it did was prove to me that it was a colossal waste of money. Our Keurig died on us way too early, as did the previous three Keurigs that we’ve owned. I refused to pay $100 for another one and decided to go the lesser expensive route. This is what I got (see pictures). Perhaps the worst part of it is that we already got rid of the box, so we can’t even return it. $60 down the drain along with a lot of coffee grounds that I had to clean up.
