   Now that I work from home, “The Scoop” is a quick and easy solution for my morning coffee needs. Over the years, I used the pour-over, French press, and drip methods, usually with Chemex in the mix, always searching for an inexpensive cup of coffee without sacrificing the taste. The Scoop does not take up a lot of counter space and I set it up at night for the next morning when I hit the Bold button; no folding paper filters; no pre-filled Kcup; I adjust the intensity of the final product with a little practice. I use spring water in the tank and eliminate most of the tiresome cleanup. My only suggestion is that the HB booklet should provide clearer steps for avoiding the occasional leak. Initially, I poured too much water into the tank. I learned “less is more”. This unit is worth the price as it quickly pays for itself.

   I bought a used, very good or good model. I cleaned my current pot and put it away. I open the box and it’s missing the 2 pieces that you put the coffee IN… so unusable! So disappointed. So I ordered a brand new one… I pray this works as well as most reviews say it does. I drink coffee all day.. and I end up wasting lots of it! I hope it works well and holds up.. will save me $ as I do throw coffee away. I hate nuked coffee! I did save over $20 by purchasing a used model. Too bad it was missing the most essential parts! Edit: ordered a brand new one. Received yesterday. First thoughts: Very small footprint, looks nice. Easy to use. Love the water tank. Immediate cons: drips .. a lot. Even if you leave the cup under. I think the set up of 2 sieve’s is the issue. I bought #1 filters and they are too big. Not sure if they would work if I cut them smaller. I have large mugs and the flip down is nice. Some of them barely fit. I do wish there was more than 8 and 14 Oz. A 4 would be great. For my mugs, 8 is too small and 14 is too large! I am having a bit of trouble getting the amount of coffee correct. I tried more coffee with the 8 oz; put on bold and it doesn’t do much. Wasn’t tasting as good as a regular coffee pot. I drank most of my 8 oz this morning and put another 8oz in again. I don’t see where the bold button does much. The buttons are nice and clicky. I grind my own beans so I’ve just taken a spoon and placed the coffee in the pod. Spilled a bit. Might need to take the pod out to fill. Rinsing the 2 pods is fine… I’m hoping there are replacements. I do think this machine is nice. I drink lots of coffee and as one person; sometimes I dump some of the coffee. This machine saves on my coffee. For the few flaws; such as the dripping; it’s still nice and well made! I would say wiping up the dripping – some water; some coffee .. is annoying. So I find myself constantly wiping it down. I still recommend it! The water tank is a definite plus. There is another one on coffeemakers.us.com that also takes pods. Well in that case- just get a Keurig. I don’t like those so I didn’t want a glorified one of those! This is the one to get- grounds only! So it’s a bit high maintenance but not enough to take away from the overall convenience… and in my case; savings. It makes a cup relatively fast! I did try the 14 oz with my Rammstein metal cup.. perfect! Update: returning. The dripping is crazy- it’s almost like a leak. The bottom filter holder holds water. The grounds stick in the top holder; so constantly rinsing it out. 2 -3 cups in morning; lots of cleaning in between because the filter parts are wet. The bottom of my cup looks gritty. I’m not overfilling the holder. Constant cleaning of the plates.. I keep wondering where all the water is coming from. Not overfilling the tank either. The idea is great; execution- not at all. Sad because I like the idea of it; just a constant mess to clean the thing due to leaks!

   LOVE this no-pod coffee maker. I don’t have a kitchen island; just a small counter with a 17″ clearance under the cabinets. Both the water reservoir lid and the basket lid can open without moving the maker forward. It heats quickly and the cup is ready within a minute. 12/27/22 – I’m revising my review only to make a notation regarding Hamilton Beach Customer Service….There isn’t any!! I am in need of another “scoop” for this maker and I have opened several requests via their website; no one replies. I’ve even tried different referenced phone numbers…nothing. So sadly, with this little coffee maker, if you don’t have the ‘scoop’ you can’t even use a reusable coffee pod.

   (See photo) The water spout is just a single hole that squirts out hot water at such a force that it blows right through the center of the coffee beans rather than spray across the whole cup. This means that to get a decent 8oz cup of coffee you need to fill the little cup completely full with grounds and select the “bold” setting. There is no way to get a decent 14oz cup of coffee out of this. I was really disappointed as I had high hopes for this machine given it’s other features were well thought through.

   I like this. If I were to say what’s best, I’d say the overall speed. It’s pretty fast for a smaller machine. It’s easy to set up, but I had a problem getting it to brew the first time. When I put the reservoir tank in, it just blinked. So after I read the manual I thought it had something to do with not detecting water. It turned out to be the filter seated wrong. After that, it’s been a nice little brewer. The basket for coffee is sold as the scoop as well, but no way I’m dipping a wet scoop in coffee. Also it tends to get fingerprints on it. All that aside, if you want a quick, small footprinted brewer that isn’t loud then this is the ticket!

   I like this coffee maker a lot. Simple, easy to clean, easy to operate. Makes great coffee. You may notice there’s a light on in all my photos. That light stays on all the time. It never turns off. It’s there to remind you the last brew that was made. And it reminds you whether or not that information is relevant to your current coffee needs. For example, at 8’o’clock in the morning. I do not need to be reminded of the fact that I had 8oz of decaf last night. The value of the information conveyed by the lights decreases significantly over time. After an arbitrary amount of time, it just wastes electricity. That’s why I can’t give it 5 stars. This coffee maker comes with a one (1) year warranty in the US. When that year is up, those LEDs are getting de-soldered.

    Switched from years of using Keurig brand coffee makers. It’s slim and doesn’t take up much counter space. I liked that this model had a water reservoir. We like strong coffee and it gives us the strong flavor we want. I feel like it’s saving us money since the basket is reusable and we don’t have to buy filters or anything. I haven’t actually compared the money savings buying bagged coffee vs.buying K-Cups. Cons: I wish the drip tray was actually a tray with some depth. It’s basically a flat surface to out your cup.

    I like the water reservoir, so I only have to refill it every couple of days. It is fast. The coffee is hot enough; but because I add creamer that cools it down a bit, I pop it in the microwave for an addition 30 seconds to bring it back up to temperature. It has 2 choices 8 oz cup or 14 oz; The 14 oz is perfect for me and works with my larger mugs, leaving just enough room for my creamer. My large mug holds a full 16 ozs, with a bit of room left over. (No more paper filters or throwing out leftover coffee from a big pot!) Update: Have owned it a little over a year and it leaks all over my counter and it continues to leak after the coffee is brewed (I have to put a spare cup under it to catch the coffee that keeps dripping) Hamilton Beach said they would give me a 15% off coupon to buy another one – NO THANKS, I can’t afford to buy a new coffee maker every year.

    Bad enough I purchased one of these garbage coffee makers I also purchased one for a friend. This is the mess I clean up pretty much on a regular basis. IT LEAKS ALL OVER!!!! It also brews 14 oz cup when you choose 8 oz!!! This coffee maker is all around just a P.O.S. And they DO NOT MAKE REPLACEMENT FILTERS FOR THIS COFFEE MAKER either, Once the filter is used up and you need a new one. Just go ahead and throw your coffee maker out, because there are no replacement filters, but don’t worry, throwing it out is the best favor you can do yourself. IM TIRED OF CLEANING THIS CRAP EVERYDAY! Save yourself a headache and find a different one to purchase. And remember, you get what you pay for!

    I like the fold down shelf that raises up my coffee cup and prevents splashing. The Scoop filter is easy to clean and no paper waste. Coffee is hot. The Bold feature gives great extraction. I would have liked a 10 oz button (there is and 8oz and 14oz). So I just fill the water reservoir with 10oz of water, use the 14oz setting and press the brew button. Fills my cup perfectly.

    Works great! makes an 8 or 14 oz coffee faster than my Keurig. comes out really hot and tastes great! Been wanting to switch to brewed coffee for better taste and I am really happy with this.I also got the one with the water reserve on the back which i like. It has its own metal filters so no need to buy any. i did buy some which does work if you cut a #2 down if you don’t feel like cleaning the filters it comes with. but it doesn’t take long to clean at all.no issues with this at all.

We drink multiple cups a day every day and its still good.     So hard to find a single cup maker from GROUNDs not k cups. Looks great. Easy to use. All boxes checked except great cup of coffee. Water is delivered to ground at such pressure that water drills/tunnels all the way to bottom of grounds cup, bypassing most of the coffee grounds, producing a week cup of coffee. See image. Why is this so difficult for a company specializing in coffee makers! I had original version of ”THE SCOOP” with same issue. Was hopping this version with deeper grounds cup would force water to ‘wet’ more grounds for better extraction.

    Works great! I’ve only had it several days but it’s perfect for my household. I like the holding tank for the water so I don’t have to fill it when I’m half asleep in the morning. I like its quick brewing time and flavorful robust coffee. I’ve been using screen filters for years and think they are great, yes there is a little sediment in the bottom of the cup but I don’t drink it the small grinds fall to the bottom. Cleanup is a breeze just tap the scoop in trash and a quick rinse under faucet and ready for next time. Very easy and not sure why so many complaints about this. Mine does not drip after the cycle if I wait a little but I put a cup in place under the dispenser to catch any lingering drips this is a common complaint but I see no worries with this. The design and looks is much better in person than the image on the ad. Seems well built and is so much better than the keurig style machine. I can make a strong cuppa or a light cuppa tall or small too. I have no complaints I just hope it is built to last, it’s the best coffee machine I’ve ever owned!

    This is my second purchase now of The Scoop. First one was their older model I had for several years with no mechanical problems. Only issue I had was my favorite mug didn’t fit right in this machine and it was a little messy. If your mug is over 7 1/2 inches it won’t fit. Mine is slightly over 🙄 otherwise I loved the machine! Easy to use and clean. Newer model improved greatly! They fixed the messy problem and it brews now with pressure instead of just being a dripper so the coffee brews stronger. Still can’t use my favorite mug but oh well! Still much cheaper than having one of those pod required coffee machines and now finally with the same brew quality! I definitely recommend this machine! My only complaints are it still doesn’t fit my favorite mug and why doesn’t the refill tank hold enough water to brew 3 full mugs, it’s 2 ounces shy lol?

    I absolutely LoVe 💗 this Hamilton Beach Single Serve Coffee ☕️ Maker. My sister and I did extensive research on the Keurig, Mr. Coffee, Mixpresso, Cuisinart, Krups and of course Hamilton Beach. This is my favorite single serve coffee maker by far. 1.) The coffee is super HOT. 2.) It has a refillable scoop/brew basket for my favorite coffee (Equal Exchange) and it’s super easy to clean. 3.) It was a perfect choice for me since I like a 14oz. cup of coffee and worked with my favorite mug. 4.) It has a removable water reservoir. 5.) It has a sleek, narrow design. I previously bought a Keurig K-Mini for the first time and was not impressed with this Keurig model for a few reasons: (Returned It) 1.) I could only use 1/2 of the coffee I normally use to make a 14oz. cup of coffee, meaning I would have to fill 2 pods (bought a stainless steel reusable metal filter). 2.) The coffee was NOT hot. 3.) The unit is cheaply made. Hope this helps everyone. ☕️

    This is a great solution for me with one caveat- the cup sizes. The smaller 8 ounce choice does not come close to filling my smallest coffee mug, while the 14 ounce choice fills my largest cups to the brim. I like to buy my own beans and I have a grinder that I like, so this is a great way to make a single cup with freshly ground beans- much quicker and easier to clean up than a french press or drip coffee, and faster. I do not use the included strainer to scoop the coffee, but instead grind one cup worth of beans at a time and pour them into the strainer. So no problem with a second cup when the strainer is wet. I really like this, but would love it if there were more realistic cup sizes or more choices in cup sizes.
