   I received an Instant Multi-Function Coffee Maker for Christmas. I just followed the instructions to set it up, but after five attempts, I still have yet to get it to work. When using a Nespresso pod, the machine merely bent the pod and dispensed hot water. So I tried using Keuring branded K-Cups, but the machine basically “exploded” the k-cups on both attempts. I literally had wet coffee grinds EVERYWHERE! I don’t see any other reviews mentioning such issues. Did I receive a defective machine? I’m sending it back to coffeemakers.us.com! So disappointing!!!!

   Very easy to use, loved it at first. But after the first week or so, the top hinge started cracking, and it became obvious a wire was poking through, but not an issue because it still worked. Fast forward a few months, it’s gotten much worse and is now affecting how it brews- the lid can’t open all the way, so old pods can’t eject/new pods aren’t always recognized (just hot water comes out). This machine isn’t even 6 months old- I’ve reached out for support at the company website so I will update when I hear back. Looking at other reviews I see others have had the same problem, so this isn’t a one-off defect.

   The product has worked amazing so far. I followed all the set up instructions and as other people mentioned there was a loud noise at first but I think that was the machine getting water in the hoses for the first time because it has not done it since. The K-Cup side and the nespresso side have worked great and right out of the box we put this machine up to the test we made lattes, hot coco, coffee and espresso martinis all in the first day. The water tank is a convenient capacity so you don’t need to fill it up every few cups. While running both the coffee and espresso side the machine is also quiet. I do notice that when you first select a function the machine takes about 10 seconds to start up but I think this is the machine warming up because if you immediately make another cup it doesn’t delay it. This is a great compromise for couples who like different types of coffee and don’t want to have two separate machines on the counter.

   Summary: Great concept, but makes watery Nespresso expresso with thin crema and doesn’t fit beneath my kitchen upper cabinets. I’m returning it for these reasons without trying its Keurig side. A standard Nespresso expresso capsule has sufficient grounds for 1.35 fl oz of water. This machine’s smallest Nespresso button is 2 fl oz and cannot be configured for less (confirmed by Instant’s customer support). The expresso from my favorite Starbucks Blonde Expresso capsules tastes diluted. My Nespresso CitiZ’s expresso button, by comparison, defaults to the standard 1.35 fl oz and is configurable for other amounts. This machine is 20″ tall with the top opened to load capsules. I have only 18″ from kitchen counter to upper cabinet edge, so it must be placed rather far from the wall or somewhere without upper cabinets. Here that is within 2″ of the sink (which interferes with dish washing) or on the island (obtrusive).

   If you’re like me, and want both a nespresso and k-cup mixed into one for your morning coffee, of by themselves, this machine is for you! Love that it can do both pod styles, along with a refillable one, and it’s about the same size as a keurig. I can put them both in and then brew one after the other. It also has a little drawer to store the used nespresso pods. For the nespresso pods, it takes probably 45 seconds after you’ve pressed the size button for it to start pouring, and for the the k-cups about 10 seconds. The noise it makes isn’t that bad, and I actually found it to be a little quieter than my DeLonghi nespresso machine. Water tank is nice and big and easy to fill up. Highly recommend this machine, and even more so if you can find it on a warehouse deal. I got mine for $138 saying it didn’t have a box and had some minor cosmetic defects. When it arrived it did come in a box that had been opened, but when I took out the machine it had never been unwrapped and had all the original tape holding the loose parts together, so I really lucked out and thank whoever sent this one to me. Makes me appreciate this machine even more!

   I bought two of these, one for myself and one for my son. Both pots splash so much when the coffee is being brewed that it on the front of my coffee bar/cabinet. Very disappointed in that. Other than that, it’s a great pot, with several options and sizes. It takes both K-cups and original Nespresso coffee pods, with a bold button to use on both. It also has several size options on both. I like the pot so much that I took and empty cardboard cylinder and made a splash sleeve to use around the cup when brewing coffee. I would have given it five stars had it not been for the splashing. The only thing that would prevent it would be to use a mug that is so tall that it takes up the space between the cup and spout….ugh

But it’s now suddenly cracked (from the heat, I guess) and I can only assume it’s going to start to have other issues soon due to the cracks. It’s such a bummer because we really have loved it but I would expect something we paid almost $200 for to last more than 18 months. I’m so disappointed and won’t be buying this again.

   Dont buy refurbished, November I bought first unit it arrived with broken reservoir possibly due to improperly packaged. It was returned to coffeemakers.us.com. After two weeks 2nd unit arrived and doesn’t cycle water as if it were plugged. Very bad refurbishing department needs better quality control.

   From a functional perspective having the convenience to be able to use both K-cups and the original Nespresso caps is very nice. However, certain Nespresso capsules did not play nicely and would stick or not function effectively leaving behind a mess to clean up. Fortunately I learned early which brand were the main offenders and adjusted my purchasing accordingly. The big downside with this model is the lack of durability and as experienced by other users the case began to crack after a year of use. See images. As such I cannot recommend this model until improvements are made to eliminate this defect.

    This was great until… It exploded and caused a giant mess. Luckily no one was around too close when it exploded. We only used the machine for about 3 and 1/2 weeks before it happened and shortly after this explosion we started to notice water leaking from underneath the machine. I assume from the water reserve? Other than that it’s compatible with both K cup and Nespresso/espresso pods.

    Have had no issues until this morning. There was so much pressure built up in the reusable coffee pod while brewing my cup o Joe this morning it exploded open spray hot water and grounds all over me and the kitchen. I thought maybe I didn’t have the pod in right, so I cleaned it up and tried again with the same conclusion. The espresso side works fine.

    The hinge action on this is pretty aggressive. To the point where using this twice a day for less than a year, the plastic around the hinge broke. The machine still works, but this is pretty ugly and disappointing. The first machine we received was obviously used, so we returned that one for this. Would not recommend because of these issues. It is however the only k-cup / nespresso I have found.

    [UPDATED AT BOTTOM – 09/01/2022 & 10/19/2024] Seriously. Most purchases are either okay, indifferent, or just plain bad. Rarely do you make one that you find yourself REALLY happy over. This has been one of those rare purchases for me. My prior Keurig Duo broke down after only a couple of years of service, but long enough to discover that I didn’t have much use for the pot brewing function. Still, I prefer to follow the Alton Brown rule of only one unitasker in the kitchen, so I chose this little beauty after doing some research into the unnecessary complexity of espresso brewing and deciding upon the Nespresso system for such a function. I was also swayed by the brand name, as I have an Instant Pot and have found it to be of reasonably good quality over time. I have not yet had this item long enough to determine longevity, so this review does not include that, at this time. I am pleased to note that the items functions are spot on with the information given and it works well with all tests I performed on both sets of functions. The K-cup side is pretty much par for the course with the exception of the addition of the ‘bold’ button. This seems to slow the brewing function slightly to allow for better flavor transfer from the coffee in the pod, but not enough to noticeably affect performance time. It does, however, have a positive impact on one of my favorite flavored coffee pods that always tasted way too strong at the lowest setting, but too weak at the next setting. The bold setting seems to take the flavor intensity back an ounce to make it just right at the larger setting. As for the Nespresso side, I must admit to having no prior experience with any other Nespresso based device, so it is definitely novel for me… and, oddly, kinda fun in its operation. The capsule storage tray is accurately described as handling up to 10 empty capsules… NOT 11. The tolerances are too tight. Disposal is very quick and easy, though. To the point that I kind of wish the K-cup side worked the same way. It is this function that I have become rather enamored of and have discovered that I can easily make a mean latte at home that rivals any coffee house with this. About the only real concern that I have found is with the opening of the top for loading in K-cups & capsules is rather rough and using a second hand to stabilize the machine when opening the top is advisable. I don’t know if this is a problem, or not, as I have no reference for comparison, but it does not seem to have any other impact upon function. It’s just… worrisome. I will update after a business quarter or two. ***UPDATE – 09/01/2022*** *sigh* Another great product marred by cheap materials. The bad news: the top of the unit, where the hinge is, has developed breaks in the plastic from normal use. I can not see, without tearing the unit apart (no), if it is a real hinge problem, or simply a fascia issue. The former is a bigger concern than the latter, of course. But, even if only a fascia issue, it’s utterly unacceptable within the first year of use. The good news: So far, this does not seem to affect actual operations of the unit, so still pretty happy – (engages ominous voice) so far…. I will update again (you can’t stop me! – ha ha!). ***UPDATE 10/19/2024*** The lost star remains lost for the aforementioned reasons BUT no further loss of stars to report. The unit lost some more fascia plastic at the hinged area, but still continues to perform per specifications. I admit to being a bit lax on the cleaning and maintenance, though I have done some standard maintenance and cleaning. The use of the unit has been in a family group of about 5 with multiple cups of both sides of the unit being brewed daily. This remains a ‘Would Buy Again’.

    This machine will brew acceptable coffee from a Keurig pod once it warms up but the first few cups come out decidedly not hot, and weak. Unless preheated by brewing several large cups it does not brew acceptable espresso. That’s because it barely reaches a temperature of 155F (measured with a calibrated thermometer, 3 times) for the smaller cup sizes. Even for full size cups after a lot of warm-up it is in the low 170s at most. The specs claim it brews at 190F and the company’s responses in the question/answer here claim it brews between 88C and 93C – 195F and 199F — but this is not true, as I measured and as you can see from other negative reviews here. Other problems: 1) The espresso sizes are way too large. You can’t get a proper single espresso (never mind a ristretto) from this machine — the smallest size is marked as 2oz and makes a fair bit more than that — and what idiot would actually try to make 6oz of coffee from a single Nespresso capsule? That’s just a recipe for an intolerably bitter Americano (which should be made with 3oz of espresso plus hot water). They should have calibrated the machine to 1oz / 2oz / 4oz (maybe) but definitely not 2oz / 4oz / 6oz. 2) As some other reviewers have mentioned it drips for a long time after brewing so you can’t really grab-and-go without filling up the drip tray pretty fast.

    I love this machine, nespresso pods are amazing. Coffee is ok. Better than a Keurig but not better than a Ninja (I have had all the Ninja coffee makers and the BP makes great coffee, k cup or grounds). Again love the machine but noticed I’m not getting all the ounces. 6 oz espresso with no pod, straight water is correct. 6 oz with pod is 5 oz, 6 oz pod with bold is 4 ounces. I haven’t tested the other sizes. It can take 3 tries for the machine to puncture properly to actually brew espresso. Edit* put the nespresso pod in and walk away. Just wait, don’t think about the beeps, it’s not immediate and dear lord it makes everything so so good! Now I’m still not getting the full pour but I love it!

    I’m literally copying a review from another buyer who bought theirs in Sept 2024. I had the exact same issues as their review. See my video for the horrendous noise and flashing lights. Ironically, there is coffee grounds on the needle. WE NEVER PUT A POD IN THE COFFEE MAKER!! Let’s just say that, when coffeemakers.us.com says “this item is frequently returned,” one should listen! I ignored that warning and will now be returning this coffeemaker. Our K-Elite Keurig died without warning, so I was looking for a non-Keurig replacement. This one came up in my search and we love our Instant Pot, so figured it was worth a look. I also enjoyed Nespresso on a recent vacation, so the thought of being able to brew both K cups and Nespresso capsules was attractive. We unboxed the machine and it seemed nice; well-made and sturdy, the buttons were recessed and firm. We followed the directions by washing the water reservoir and wiping down the machine. We also took out the little red plug in the water reservoir. We were ready to do the “test brew” and that’s when things went awry. I followed the directions to a T, but when I went to brew plain water, the machine made a terrible noise, and no hot water dispensed. Then, all of the buttons flashed. We turned off the machine, re-seated the water reservoir, thinking we had done something wrong, but the same thing happened when we tried again. Both times we tried to run the test brew, we also noticed a sort of “burnt” electrical smell, similar to what you smell when you first turn on your heat/furnace in the fall. That indicated to us that something is wrong with the machine; we had not done anything wrong. It never did run the test brew. So, with great disappointment, we emptied the water reservoir, re-boxed the machine (which was not easy), and will return it. Very sad we couldn’t make this work, as I was excited to brew K-cup coffee and Nespresso. We’ll be going back to Keurig.

    I have used the machine for both coffee and espresso for a few days and think it does it’s job well. My dissatisfaction comes from the plastic water tank which arrived damaged (see photo on the left) in two places including a rather sharp edge. Although coffeemakers.us.com support was adamant that they could not replace only the water tank, they were very helpful and sent me a new machine. Upon opening the second machine, I found the EXACT SAME damage (see photo on the right). Obviously a problem with materials, packaging, or both.

    So I like having the Instapot and use it daily. Both the Keurig and the Nespresso make make great cups of coffee and teas. However, it began leaking within a month of use. A little at first but now I have to keep a cloth under it or it will leak all down my countertop. Will contact the maker and see what they say.

    This make good hot coffee. Thats the only good. I use green mountain vanilla latte kcups only. Ordered in dec an with the holidays didnt get it set up till 1st week in january. I dont use the expresso kups, so no reason for me to access the pull out for the empty espresso cups. I also dont use the cup holder on the front of the slide out. Well I kept smelling sour milk. I dont leave my kcups in the machine, they go in the garbage as soon as brewed. And kcup holder gets pulled an wadhed with the drip tray constantly. So I pull out the slide out espresso pod dump bin. Luckly I pulled it slow. It was full of moldy sour latte. I was so grossed out. So i removed and scrubbed it. Put it back in. The picture of the pull out bin is from 2 cups of latte I drink a day. The other picture is the drip tray. Also after 2 cups of latte and the kcup removed immediately. It drips for ever. So I decided Im not paying this much for a machine that works this way regardless of the easier cleaning feature. So i take it apart to wash and return. There is no drip tray, no kcup holder, no pod bin and no water resivour on it. And I wipe down the nozzle daily. I lean it forward to get the water out of the hole under the water resivour. Nasty sour coffee comes pouring out of the nozzle down the front of me. Now Im pissed. So i keep tilting it back and forth and more comes out. Somewhere between the nozzle and the kcup holder coffee is building up and souring and molding. Had I not decided to return this I would never of known. Ive been drinking nasty moldy trapped coffee for 3.5 weeks, every day. And why the coffee maker smells like sour milk all the time. And probably why my allergies have flared so bad, along with my asthma. I have severe mold allergies and Im very anal about mold. Im beyond disappionted. I had hoped that switching from keurig i would have a brand that the control panels would last more then a year, which they dont in keurig. This wasnt the right brand I guess.

    When you spend this amount (~$160+) for a coffee maker, you expect it to last several years or more. In less than two years, the plastic top broke open, clearly a manufacturing defect and poor quality materials. There is an internal spring which allows the top to open up by itself when you unlatch it. Unfortunately, the internal spring was strong enough to break through the top cover of the coffee maker, which looks absolutely awful. I am not sure how much longer it will function, as the break is only getting worse. If you are considering buying this coffee maker because you assume its high price point means it is a quality product that will last, then I hate to tell you that you are better off buying a cheaper one that will actually last. For this price point, this is not acceptable and therefore gets the lowest rating of 1 star.

    I bought this 5 years ago I don’t understand what is up with the other comments. This machine works insanely well and is a workhorse Yes, you need to clean reservoir (half vinegar/half water followed by fingernail of baking soda) but that is just as easy if not way easier than keurig nespreso etc I would buy if you are looking for best price to do both k cup and nespresso – A coffee lover

    We purchased an instant pot in January. It was replaced by the manufacturer in March, and now we’re having issues again because it doesn’t brew coffee and the coffee grounds are disappearing inside the machine. Our first machine was cracked and stopped brewing both coffee and Nespresso pods. The second machine also stopped brewing coffee pods and only dispensed clear water. We contacted the manufacturer again and they sent us a brand new one for the third time. I’m now in the process of returning it through coffeemakers.us.com. It’s a terrible product, never works, and it’s a hassle to deal with every morning. Additionally, it’s very loud and leaks a lot. I would rate it 0 stars if I could.

    After being disappointed with two different Keurig models I decided to try this. Overall seems great so far. Pros: Very hot coffee, brews quickly, easy to use right out of the box, did I mention HOT. Don’t try to remove the K cup immediately after brewing like you can with a Keurig. Cons: height is too tall to fully open lid when it’s under your upper kitchen cabinets, must be pulled forward on countertop to completely open the unit; this maker is loud. I’ve attached a 22 second video to my review. Sounds like getting a root canal at the dentist.

    I use it with both Nespresso and kcup for latte. How hubby use custom grind from r coffee. It works well for our use, easy to use, no maintainace needed so far (10mo). Couple minor issues 1) smallest brew for Nespresso pod with this machine is 2oz which is still too much for espresso 2) handle to open seem really fragile while the top is on really hard, so everytime you lift it feels like the handle will get ripped off 3) stand for espresso cup is a tad small for my latte cup, though fine for espresso cup

    Well after one month of use no matter what selection you choose the hot water is only ran though the espresso side. I have reached out to their support and have no solution as of yet. It is quite frustrating considering the most of the family uses the K-cup side so we are essentially without a coffee machine now for 75% of the household.
