   This is a solid coffee maker, yet not the best model. Mr. Coffee makers have always been dependable and long lasting while making a tasty, simple pot of coffee. There are several pros and cons to this coffee maker, let’s start with the cons. Cons: The cord is WAY too short!! I don’t think I have EVER had such a short cord on any small kitchen appliance! This definitely makes placement an issue. The basket receives no favors by being a swing out vs just lifting the entire top of the maker, not just the water reservoir. I believe I understand what they were trying to do, yet removing and replacing the basket comes with a learning curve. Another downside to the swing out style is you have to be VERY careful once you have placed your filter and chosen ground into the maker. If you aren’t careful, the filter will not be even and then you wake to find grounds floating in your coffee pot. The delay and on/off button sharing one button can be a bit confusing. As can the red to turn on/brew now, while the delay is green(which we all know means go). My husband, who I bought this for to replace our old Hamilton Beach(I am a Keurig fanatic), didn’t care for the shared buttons and hitting it so many times to turn off the maker. Pros: It is an attractive coffee maker, it’s odd shape is pretty pleasing and it doesn’t look large and imposing on the counter. It looks a bit classic and is very appealing. The coffee pot itself is also shaped nicely. Once you have the buttons down, delay brew is awesome and reliable. Our older pot was a slower brewer and my husband quite likes the faster brew(if he wakes early) and the coffee loses no taste or quality. The entire coffee maker and pot are very easy to clean, and this is actually where the swing out basket is a pro. By being able to remove the entire basket, you don’t have to take extra steps to clean the basket housing and the maker stays cleaner. The water reservoir is easy to fill from any angle with the numbers on the right side being very bright and easy to read. Overall, this is a nice, affordable and dependable coffee maker once you learn it’s little quirks. I would definitely recommend but would be sure to share the lessons we’ve learned.

   We make one pot/day in our house. What we have found over the last couple of years is that that coffee makers today have essentially become disposable items. Our previous coffee maker that cost ~$50 worked fine, had more bells/whistles, but would clog and slow drip about every ~3-4 months. We would do the vinegar run, it would work well for ~100 days, then clog back up again. For that reason, we decided to toss the “foofy one”, go with a more simplified version of a coffee maker, spend ~$30 and just buy a new one if/when we get frustrated. Fortunately, this one has been great and has not clogged once in the 2 months that we’ve been using it. Pros: – Has not clogged yet (large water flow openings throughout) – Very easy to understand how it works – Easy access to all parts – Makes coffee quickly – Stopper design is simple and works well when you pull the coffee pot out mid-brew – Inexpensive – Large opening when you’re ready to pour water into the machine – Transparent gauge so you can easily read how much water, if any, is already in the machine Cons: – No bells/whistles (could be a pro too!) – Does not feel very “substantial” I have added a few photos for your reference/review.

   Great Coffee Maker! I love my Mr. Coffee Programmable coffee maker! I have yet to wake up to a bad cup of coffee! I set it up at night, and wake up to the fresh smell of coffee. It’s nice, because I dont have to wake up, set it up, then wait for my coffee to brew. It’s extremely easy to program and set up. As you can see by the pictures, I drain different coffees at different times. All I have to do is put the filter in, then the coffee, and set it up to brew at a certain time. D warmer stays on for quite a while, so you can get a fresh cup of hot coffee anytime. It is worthy to note however that the coffee pot will shut it self off if there is no liquid in the carafe. That makes it nice, because you don’t have to worry about burnt coffee in the bottom of your coffee pot the next time you have to use it. In my opinion, it’s one of the best coffee makers I have used. It’s so easy to use! I’m not a techie, so I appreciate something simple. It brews great coffee. You can use filters, or if you prefer, you can used filter packets that have the coffee already sealed in a filter. It’s easy to wash. The carafe is sturdy, so it can be washed in the dishwasher. I use a clean rag to clean the rest. I highly recommend this coffee maker! It’s a great kitchen appliance for the price!

   I bought this over the holidays when the price was discounted to $9.99 and it gets used every day. I like that the display is on the bottom. I have enough things in my kitchen with a clock (stove, microwave, etc.), I don’t really need another appliance to tell me the time — but I do occasionally use the programmable feature, so the clock is necessary. Having the water gauge on the side is a bonus. I can brew a decent tasting full pot of coffee in under 10 minutes. HOWEVER… Could this have been designed/made better? Probably. Getting the basket on/off for cleaning by lining up little plastic nubs is a phenomenal pain. I specifically wanted to be able to pull the carafe out mid-brew to pour myself a cup. This has never worked. AT ALL. There is nothing to stop the drip.

   It’s a basic coffee maker. Not much more to that! After a year of having a 5 cup maker my husband and I decided to go back to a real coffee maker. One that makes enough for both of us to have a couple cups without constantly making a new pot. It’s easy to clean and work. The coffee comes out great and if you like a little more coffee grounds than the next person, there isn’t any issue with overflow so far. We’ve had it over a month and it’s working great. Don’t bother with fancy coffee makers. What makes good coffee isn’t really the pot but the quality of your grounds and the water you use.

   Easy to use and clean. Brew basket can be easily removed for quick cleanup’s. It strangely does not come with a reusable filter cup, but works fine with the disposable filter in the brew basket. No issues with spills or burns per other reviews. But everyone’s different and maybe some products were faulty.

   I bought this coffee maker way back in December of 2015. 3 1/2 years later, with literally well over 1,000 pots of coffee made, it still performs as well as the day I took it out of the box. I love the programmable timer and automatic two hour shut off feature also. I set it up the night before, and when my alarm goes off at 5:30AM, I wake up to a nice hot pot of Folger’s coffee! I would give it 10 stars if I could!!!

    coffeemakers.us.com should review this coffee pot for health safety standards. You can get 1st-degree or 2nd-degree burns dealing with this very cheap pile of junk. You can’t take out the hot grounds. Sever design flaws. An 8-year-old boy in less than 1 minute can figure out `how to fix this flaw. You can’t take the grounds container off its hinges to empty the grounds, you can’t take the grounds out because there is no basket in the coffee grounds container. You have no protection in removing the hot coffee grounds. I got burnt. Now, look at the mess every time you remove the coffee grounds. Since you can’t take off the container that holds the grounds by the hinges or by a coffee filter basket the hot coffee grounds will fall on your counter every time you make a stupid pot of coffee.

    Product box arrived with a big hole. I inspected the contents and it looked as though nothing was broken but I didn’t test it out. I am shipping this to my deployed husband for his unit. They won’t care about the box so long as the product works but it doesn’t look good when it’s delivered with a big hole. Otherwise, we have a Mr. Coffee at home and enjoy it very much. That’s why it was given 4 stars. We were impressed with the Mr. Coffee in a Hawaii hotel room and got one for ourselves.

    Love it. It was easy to set up the clock and the delay timer. The only thing I wish was that I had bought the washable filter at the same time. Now I have to wait a couple days for it to come. The place where you put filters, doesn’t come out. It was a little messy getting the used paper filter out. Elsewise, is exactly what I wanted.

    Update: In less than 2 years the bottom is completely rusted out and no longer keeping the coffee hot. I was really good about keeping it dry too, this seems to be the thing with coffee makers now. My friend has one from the 70’s and the warming plate is pristine and they definitely don’t take care of it like I coddle mine. Previously: It’s an auto-drip, what can one really expect? My problem with this particular model is I am afraid of the potential fire hazard. The warming plate is not sufficiently sealed to the frame and sinks in a bit creating a noticeable space. I am posting two pictures because I received two of these coffee makers with the same issue. The first coffee maker I received I returned, because it was unevenly sunk, it was noticeable immediately upon opening and did not seem right. The second coffee maker I received as a replacement is sunk the entire way around but I’m keeping it because I freaking need a coffee maker and this shouldn’t be so hard! Hopefully from the pictures you can make out that weird silver/white around the edge of the warming plate. This space concerns me because it is small enough that I have no idea how I could keep that little space clean, but it is large enough that dust, crumbs, grinds, etc., will collect in that space right on top of the warming plate. It already caught a hold of the paper towel I was wiping it down with and I had to pick it out. My fingernail fit all the way back there so it’s at least a quarter of an inch deep while only being millimeters high. I also don’t think the space is supposed to be there since the first one I got was only partially sunk and the rest seemed sufficiently closed/sealed. If I only got the second one I might have thought it was poor design. I mean I knew I was getting a cheap coffee maker but I’ve never been afraid of the potential fire hazard in one of these things. If I don’t keep the warming plate bone dry is water going to get into the base? Next time I will buy one of these in an actual store, and it may be sooner than expected unfortunately. Only time and use will tell how nervous this defect makes me, for now my eyebrows will remain raised.

    Mr coffee has its reputation. This one s easy to use and clean, fast brewing. Design has a flaw. The coffee holder is easy to detach for cleaning, but not so easy to reinsert. The hot plate rust very quickly. The previous 12 cup maker lasted almost 10years. I expect to use this one for 2-3years at most.

    Terrible design. Cord comes out of the side of the coffeemaker. Clock does not light up. You have to look at it from counter level to see it. Setting clock involves using on/delay/off button. You press that same button to brew now, which is confusing since its labeled “delay”. A red light comes on when brewing now. A green light comes on for delayed brewing. Making coffee should not be this confusing. Havent had my 1st cup yet, so I havent reviewed flavor. My old Mr Coffee had the perfect design, but it started leaking water from the bottom. Needless to say, I will be changing brands the next time I buy a coffeemaker, which will probably be soon. Ugh!

    Ordered for my mom, she needed one to replace her last Mr Coffee that quit after 5+ years.The price on this model was lowest we found for a 12 cup programmable Mr Coffee brand. It arrived at scheduled time. She was worried that it came only in the Mr coffee box, but it was well packed with molded styrofoam to protect everything. Unpacked, set the clock, ran 2 cycles of water thru and then on to a perfect cup. The delay brew cycle worked fine for waking up to it already made. It is a little noisier than the last Mr Coffee and seemed the have a higher temperature on the warming plate. Still can’t beat $20.00. We will update in a few months time to review continued performance.

    For those reviews that are complaining about removing the basket, here’s how: 1. Pop up the cover for the water fill. 2. Swing out the basket. 3. Wrap your left hand around the front and side of the basket. 4. Gently push up until the top part of the hinge pops up and the bottom part releases. 5. Angle the bottom part to the left and gently pull down. Two hands help here. 6. It should be out. Go dump the grounds and reinstall. To reinstall: 1. Angle the top of the basket to the right. 2. Fit in the top part of the hinge into the top hole. 3. Straighten up the bottom part of the basket. ***Tip*** Practice the next part a few times while awake! Not at 7 AM when running out the door to work! 4. Push the bottom part of the hinge down into the bottom hole. But you didn’t get it at first? Keep trying, it will line up! Don’t push the bottom too far back or too far to the right. Patience, grasshopper! This gets much easier with daily use. 5. Swing the basket closed. 6. Go brew a cup of coffee, you earned it! Rest of review: brews coffee, the carafe doesn’t drip coffee during pouring, the clock seems accurate, and the delay brew function works once the clock is set.

    This would normally be a five star review (it turns on, it makes coffee, and shuts off before making folgers tar on the bottom of the pot) however I didn’t realize they changed the filter cup area. Instead of being the same old simple design where you left the top, this contraption swings out to the side and you have to futz with lining up these little pins to get it apart, in order to take it to your can to dump the spent filter/coffee. The real joy is that these parts are plastic, and my community college education (with a focus in partying) just knows that this will eventually fail and or break at the most in-opportune time, causing unnecessary drama and dismay for the shop guys. We alleviated this by taking a small drill and reaming it out a size bigger, thus making it pop in/out easier, but it’s still a POS if you ask me. Oh well. It’s 25 bucks. I’m just glad it doesn’t catch the shop on fire when in operation.

    Fill right from you faucet. Two hour auto turn off. Be sure to order a basket style permenant filter with your coffeemaker. It is difficult to wash the filter holder with the glass pot every day because it is hard to remove the machine. Using the basket filter with your paper filter will give you a smooth flavorful cup of coffee with no acid taste. Mr Coffee machines have been the best performers for me. Good price!

    My old Mr. coffee was on its last leg after years of use and it was the basic one with no timer. So I found this one at great price and it had a timer. It had mostly great reviews but I saw a few complaining about how you can’t take off the part where you put the coffee filter and coffee so you can’t clean it. Well I don’t know if they didn’t read directions or are not mechanically inclined, but all you have to do is just lift up on it and twist and it comes right off to clean. Easy to put back on too. See picture below I took and you can see it unattached and in my hand. As others suggested I bought a separate basket filter for a reasonable price to place in tray and I also use paper filter. I get clean, ground free coffee every time. So yes if you don’t want to spend much and still have a great coffee experience, this one is for you.

    Great coffee brewer for the office. Make sure you do a few water runs before using to get rid of the fresh plastic/machine smell. Only con is cleaning the compartment where you put the filter paper. Other than that, the coffee comes out piping hot and works like a charm.
