   I took the cheap route and I’m paying for it daily. Where do we start. The filter typically folds in when brewing and I’ve thrown away about 5 pots now that were basically water becuase the filter covered coffee. Pouring water into the intake is slow and messy. Pouring the coffee when it’s done is even worse. If you pour the pot just regularly it spills all over the side and you need a towel to clean up the mess . You have to hold it at this weird awkward angle and pour extremely slow. Basically about 20-30 seconds. Pay a few dollars more and avoid this coffee maker . I’d return if I didn’t use it.

   Easy to use but the filter area shifts every time I try to grab the coffee pot, so drippage occurs. If it sits for more than 30 minutes the coffee begins to taste like plastic.

    I gave this unit a 5 star rating due to:

    Please note this is a very basic coffeemaker. No frills, It is less expensive than other models and thus made with a lighter weight to it. The glass pot fits very tightly in the unit and can make it difficult to pull the pot out to pour a cup. I have almost pulled the entire unit off the coffee bar.

    The filter basket holds a normal round filter but due to the basket shape, it is often difficult to be sure the grounds stay in the filter if you are brewing 12 cups. Also pulling the filter out of the basket after brewing is a bit of a challenge because the grounds are nearly to the top of it after brewing.

    The front fill and the size of the unit are both pluses. Unit is very compact since the tank is in the rear instead of the side of the unit.

    Although this drip coffee maker takes up minimal space on your countertop, it can brew 12 cups of coffee. It is well-designed and made of high-quality materials. The brew basket can be removed very easily but lifting it and putting it in the dishwasher to clean it up every day. There is no timer or programmer so make sure you turn it off after you’re done brewing your coffee. If you forget it, it won’t turn off automatically. This is something that you need to consider. I recommend this coffee maker for its price to anyone looking for a simple compact coffee maker.

    TL:DR? This is an okay coffee maker, but it kind of needs to be babysat whilst brewing your coffee/water/tea to avoid any mishaps. The Compact: This came well packaged inside it’s box and is a very compact and sleek model. It has water fill lines on both the carafe (both sides) and brewer body. The carafe’s glass is crystal clear and pour spout is designed to eliminate/avoid dribbles. The lid easily pops open, but does not lock closed. Water must be poured slowly into the intake on the top to fill the water storage. Pouring too fast will cause it to overflow and spill. The filter tray pulls from the front then swings right and (when fully opened) can easily be removed by lifting up. Make sure not to remove the rubber stopper from its bottom. The carafe and lid and the removable filter tray are all dishwasher safe (top rack only). A single button will start the brewing and it can be programmed to brew automatically at any time of day. The cord is short and will require space near an outlet. This features a timer that will keep track (on schedule) of the time of day in AM and PM segments. The Boil & Brew: I’m new to coffee makers. I’ve had electric kettles before and dealt with instant coffee (for when I was fixing for myself), so this was a new exploration for me. You really do have to pour slowly which can make your arm a little tired (10 cups is a lot of water trickling in), but a little exercise never hurt anyone did it? Work for that cup of joy, right? Just kidding. Point is, it has a water “meter” on the side of the brewer and you can stop the brew at any point that strikes your fancy, so it’s possible to just make a few cups and keep some water in the tank (though sanitary reasons may feel differently). The instructions say that the coffee maker will shut off automatically after two (2) hours of finishing the brew, but I kind of ran into a problem with that. It doesn’t stop trying to make coffee. Even when the water tank is depleted it keeps trying to brew air which has resulted in a fine white mist wafting out of the back of the machine and a grinding noise inside. Naturally, I shut if off. I don’t know if this mist was simply steam and the grind was it settling down, but it was disturbing enough (and terrifying enough) to make me never do that again. As such, programming it seems a little counterproductive. Sure, I can fill it at night and it’ll start automatically in the morning, but then I have to tear running and screaming into the kitchen to make sure the tank doesn’t get completely dry…I guess in a sense it’s the perfect alarm. Smell coffee? Run. Hey, look, I’m out of bed. Fancy that. But still, in all seriousness, this doesn’t seem like it works well. After that “mist” (mysterious intimidating smoke thing) comes out, it smells like hot plastic…really, hot plastic. However, for a regular brew whilst you are toasting bagels in the kitchen and frying eggs, it’s not so bad. It brews well. Gives you that hot liquid you doth require. Works for making just water for tea drinkers and hot chocolate chuggers. I like that it keeps the time, but I’m less inclined to leave it in all day long. Fire hazards and all. +Pros: +Large capacity and compact design +Brews in about 5 to 20 minutes (depending on how many cups you’re doing) +Nice carafe (clearly marked and well made) +Programmable +Easy to start/turn on and off +Keeps the time and settings (even after being unplugged) +Some parts are dishwasher safe (carafe and lid, filter tray) -Cons: -Didn’t automatically shut off (started to become a fire hazard; got really hot when water tank reached zero) -Instructions aren’t fully clear on operation (may take some tinkering) -Carafe lid doesn’t lock in place (and may open when pouring) -More like a 10 cup capacity than 12 (as many others have stated) Overall, it’s okay, but definitely not grand. I don’t think I’ll be using the programming setting in the morning because of the “mist” problem, but it’s nice when I’m close by and working in the kitchen. The programmable part was the seller for me, so for me to not feel comfortable using it makes me not satisfied or willing to recommend it. However, it may work just dandy for you (I could have one that’s an oopsie). 3 out of 5 stars. Use cautiously.

    We are seniors on a limited budget and thought this front loading coffee maker was just what we needed to make it easier to pour the water in… or so we thought! It worked for the first couple months, then one morning my husband went to get a cup of coffee after normal brew time, but it wasn’t ready. Instead it was making a loud boiling noise and steam was pouring out. He thought that’s weird. So he went to pull the coffee maker out of the cubby and the plastic was so hot he burned two fingers! Yes, he got blisters! We have contacted the company and they asked for more information, so my husband opened the top and took a video. Katrena replied back, thank you, and your warranty is void because it has been disassembled. I have all the emails, this is a horrible way to treat seniors. Trying to help them figure out what is wrong with their product. They ask for more information just to void the warranty!!! Do NOT buy their products.

    Coffee pot is okay for the price but drips with every pour no matter how you do it. It brews properly and quickly and was easy to program. It does let you get a cup before its finished , which is nice. There is not a light behind the time display so it’s hard to see. Perfectly average drippy Coffee maker!

    Contacted Hamilton Beach regarding the broken coffee maker, and after explaining the situation HB honored the 1-year warranty and replaced the coffee maker with a new one of a different model (since the broken one was out of stock) of equal value! 🙂 Bought this coffee maker on June 3rd. Was working great when it worked, then today (August 15) I attempted to brew 2 cups of coffee, but it quit halfway through! The clock still works, the red light lights up, but nothing else happens. Tried to unplug it, wait several minuted, and plug it again, but still won’t brew. Unfortunately the coffeemakers.us.com ‘Return window’ closed on Jul 5. Still can be used as a door stopper (see photo).

    I like the compact size and the FrontFill water reservoir. But, there are a couple serious design problems. The designers did not add “feet” to the coffee maker so it very easily slides on a counter top. It requires two hands to serve coffee. One to hold the coffeemaker steady and one to remove the carafe and pour the coffee. With other coffee makers I hold my cup in one hand and remove the carafe with the other. The other design problem is the carafe lid. It seems to cause frequent dripping when pouring. So, to get a cup of coffee I need to… 1. place a paper towel on the counter. 2. place my cup on the paper towel. 3. hold the coffee maker firmly with one hand. 4. remove the carafe and pour the coffee with my other hand. 5. still holding the coffee maker firmly, replace the carafe. 6. dispose of the paper towel and clean any additional dripped coffee. This procedure becomes very inconvenient when repeated many, many times.

Note, the basket swings out to the right, so you have to have a good amount of space to the right of it to get the basket out…makes it a little annoying to have to completely move the maker over to get the basket out.

    Esta cafetera me decepcionó un poco, tenía una de la misma marca que duró muchos años con un desempeño excelente, sin embargo, decidí cambiarla y elegí la misma marca. A esta nueva hay que ponerle mas cantidad de café para que quede de buen sabor, si no, sólo pinta el agua, haciendo menos de las 12 tazas se soluciona un poco, pero no me gustó. Por el precio, estuvo bien, pero la tendré que cambiar muy pronto.
