   Proctor-Silex Single-Serve Coffee Maker is made in China and is Intertek ETL listed for the US and Canada. It conforms to UL Standard 1082 for Household Electric Coffee Makers and Brewing-Type Appliances. This is a very efficient single serve coffee maker. It brews both K-cup pods as well as ground coffee efficiently. It comes with a K-cup holder as well as a brewing basket for grounds so no additional accessories need to be purchased. It holds 40 oz of water so there is no need to refill the reservoir between cups. There is a recommended waiting period of 2 minutes between brews. I would like the option to adjust cup size since 10 ounces is not only the default choice, it is the only choice. However, that is the only thing that I miss when comparing to the high end coffee makers. I am using this for a quick, no fuss, early morning first cup brew. The unit is attractive and has a simple but effective design that rivals the pricer pod brewers that I have used. I don’t need wifi on my coffee brewer to reorder pods or to turn the machine on or off. The simplicity of this dual method brewer is what I find appealing. It’s easy to use and easy to clean. Proctor-Silex Model 49919 Coffee Maker has everything that I really need in a single serve brewer. It works very well.

   I can honestly say I have never owned a single-serve coffee maker like this. The system is built powerfully to make the most of your grounds. The coffee comes out dark and delicious every time whereas other machines come out more clear than dark. I hope this product lasts for a while. I also love that it puts out 10 oz of coffee at a time and the reservoir is 40 oz. I only have to fill it up every other day. You cannot change the settings to have less or more coffee, so if you are not cool with 10 oz of coffee then move onto another machine or you can trick the machine by putting in 1 oz of water in the reservoir for an espresso shot, or 8 oz of water for a normal brew. My concern with this 10oz feature was the possibility of weak coffee (like other systems), however, the Proctor-Silex gets rich coffee for the full 10 oz. The one thing I did not like about the coffee maker are the promotional images. They did not show a taller coffee cup in the images, so I took a chance on it fitting all my taller mugs. I have done some of my own. Hope this helps.

   The worst coffee maker that I have ever purchased! I have only had it 3 months and it makes this god awful loud sound when brewing! It is so loud that it scares my cat and I have to turn the tv way up just to hear over the coffee maker sound! It is leaking as well. I will never purchase another Proctor Silex coffee maker again! Do not waste your money on this one! I am going back to Kuerig!!!!

   Very simple and inexpensive, but it’s gets the job done! Smi many times we find ourselves making a full pot of coffee when we just want a cup or two. This is perfect because you can either use coffee pods or your own ground coffee! It comes with the filter basket that you need to make your favorite coffee every time. Easy to use – one button “BREW”! Can’t beat that! The only part that I missed in the directions is that you have to wait two minutes before brewing a second cup. It won’t actually let you press the BREW bottom until it has cooled down for those couple minutes. Great gift to have on hand or test yourself! As you can see, this one is for me and my coffee bar!

    I bought this to replace a Keurig that just quit one day after only had it maybe two years. This happened before with Keurig. So I’m tired of that. Thought I would try a different brand, proctor silex. It’s an old fashion brand. It works great, and has many features that the Keurig didn’t have. Such as it comes with its own basket, container for loose coffee, as well as one for the k cups. Also, it holds more water than the Keurig one cup and makes a large cup of coffee. So you need to put a large size mug to avoid run over. It does take a little longer to brew but honestly it’s not that much longer. The coffee is very good, and the Brewer has a small profile on the countertop. Overall, I like it very much and I hope it will last longer than Keurig, which I think it’s overrated at this point.

    That being said, it was delivered with a gash so big in the box I don’t know how it wasn’t damaged. There was no padding on the inside either to protect it except for the top and bottom, but that’s not where it was kicked in.

    At first I really liked it.

    Now it stops midway in making a cup of coffee. You have to unplug it and let it sit for a few minutes and plug it back in. It takes the joy out of your morning and your cup of coffee.

    I wanted an inexpensive coffee maker to put in my shop so I didn’t have to run in to the house to get a cup of coffee. I like the convenience of pods so it had to be K-cup compatible. At $47 this Proctor-Silex machine seemed to fit the bill. It arrived quickly and was very well packaged. I ran two cups of water through the machine just to make sure it was nice and clean. Here are the pros and cons: Pros: 1. Price – at $47 it was the least expensive K-cup compatible machine I could find that had a decent size water reservoir. 2. Water reservoir: A generous 40 ounce reservoir. Enough for 4 cups of coffee without having to refill. 3. Dual usage – can handle K-cups or ground coffee with two adapters provided. Both work well but you do have to clean the ground coffee adapter after every use and it can let very fine grounds get in the coffee. 4. One button convenience. Very simple control. No options for amount of coffee brewed, 10 oz, that’s it. 5. Size: Relatively small, easily fits in to small spaces. 6. It’s quiet – my regular K-cup machine is loud, this one is significantly quieter. 7. Probably most importantly – it brews a good tasting cup of coffee – nice and hot. Cons: Only one – the metal grate on the spill plate has very sharp edges and pops out of place very easily. It strikes me as a cutting hazard if not careful. I’ll either grind down the sharp edges or fashion a different spill plate from some old teak wood I have in my shop. Summary: I like the simplicity of the machine. The K-cup machine I have in my office is nice but it’s expensive and has options that I never use. For a straight forward machine, this can’t be beat. If it wasn’t for the sharp edges on the spill plate, this would be a clear 5-star product. I’ve had great luck with Proctor-Silex products in the past and expect a long-life out of this machine. Recommended.

    I don’t expect this machine to last longer than 2 years – other models I’ve had (including Keurig) give up the ghost quickly. But so far I like it. The big reservoir and lid makes it easy to fill. The max water line is easy to see. I also like that I don’t have to refill it every time because of the larger reservoir. Another plus: it will fit many cups and thermal bottle sizes and it has an extra basket for ground coffee (which is lots cheaper than pods).

    And the best thing is how easy it is to clean/descale. No extra filters or expensive cleaning solutions like the big K…..it brand. Just run some diluted vinegar and rinse thoroughly. Fantastic and fast!

    I ordered coffee maker in February after my second Kerig stopped working. And it worked fine until this morning. I put my k – pod in after filling tank , pushed on button and within a few seconds it exploded. FIying grounds went all over my blouse and the floor. My right foot got a small burn. If I had been shorter it would have been my face. I am longer using the pods just the grounds.

    I ordered this to replace my Keurig which stopped working. The Pros: I love the look of it, it comes with both an insert to use K-cups and ground coffee, it has an adjustable base so there are less splash marks on the counter, it holds 40 oz of water so you only need to refill water every 4 cups, its simple and easy to use. The biggest con is that it takes almost 4 minutes to brew a single cup of coffee! The coffee is hot and tastes great, however, it takes quite a bit of time as I believe it is heating up the water each cup. Also, the K-cup insert is removable and very easy to clean, which is not the case with a Keurig. If you don’t mind waiting for your cup of coffee, this is the machine for you!
