I put a 4 for flavor because I haven’t tried it yet but it SMELLS GOOOOD! It was super easy to use and after cleaning it three times there was still a few tiny pieces of ground coffee. But not bad. Could just be the OCD part of me but I really like it. I thought the brew time would be hours, didn’t realize it speeds up that process so even better! Definitely like how sturdy it is and how well the instructions are. I’m very much a visual learner. Got this to save money from Starbucks 😭😂
works great. best coffee maker I've ever got so far. Thanks Bunn.
It was time for me to get a new coffee maker. I was specifically looking for a smaller carafe that didn't brew too many cups. I came across this one. It didn't have too many bells and whistles, only what I need. I have played around with the fast drip vs slow drip options, and the flavor of the coffee is good on all drip settings. The style of the coffee maker also very nice, it matches my personality and vibe. Overall, unique retro looking and works great!
This is so beautiful looking on my counter, and produces TOP notch cold brew. I thought I liked cold brew before, but now I'm obsessed and the whole process of making the cold brew is also pretty therapeutic. I love the whole process! However, the top bowl came with a slight "crack" on the top rim. Not really a problem just a little disappointing!
We've been using our Moccamaster now for about a month, and absolutely love it. Purchased this one because it was recommended by America's Test Kitchen - who we have lots of respect for due to the rigor they put into their review process. This brewer makes the smoothest and richest taking cup of coffee you could want. There's several YouTube video's on this model if you want to explore more.) But keep in mind that you'll need to have a good burr grinder to get the grind just right. For that I'd recommend the Krups GX5000 Professional Electric Coffee Burr Grinder, which lets you control the grind setting to wherever you like it best. Total costs, as of this writing, for this version of the Moccamaster (KBGT), plus the Krups GX5000 Professional Electric Coffee Burr Grinder (with grind size and cup selection) is about $375. If you don't currently own either item you may be asking yourself "Is this worth it?". To help answer that here's some math you may find helpful. My local Starbuck's charges $2.25 for a 16 oz. Grande. If I buy a pound of whole bean coffee from them, I can make a 16 oz Grande at home (and put it in my thermal travel mug) for $1.17. ($14.95 for 1 lb. of beans; it takes 1.25 oz. weight of ground beans to make a 16 oz. cup of coffee = 12.8 16 oz. Grandes per pound of coffee). That's a savings of $1.08 per cup, or a whopping 48% below their retail price. (Prices could be even higher/savings greater depending on where you live; $2.95 in NYC?). Drinking 1 cup per day you'll break even on the $375 investment in about a year (346 days), or faster if you drink more than 1 retail cup per day. In addition to eventually saving money, and drinking the variety of coffee you personally enjoy the most, your coffee will taste even better, you'll avoid the lines at Starbuck's (or wherever) and save money to boot. Not to mention that when you entertain discriminating guests you'll be able to provide them with a delicious cup of coffee, even if they're coffee snobs. Update: We've been using this coffee brewer for 5 months, and it is making great coffee. The one complaint I have is the discoloration that has occurred on the basket cap, apparently caused by the hot steam rising from the grounds during brewing. Wondering if the coloring ended up in our coffee? Given the price point on this brewer believe a better quality basket cover isn't too much to ask.
‘If it ain’t Dutch it’s not much’. I have heard about this Moccasmaster and the rave reviews. well let me tell you it’s true. They have it down to a science. They have been making this coffee maker in Holland for 56 years. Trust me the Dutch know their Coffee. Right out of the box you can tell it’s well made. After a quick assembly of a few parts you are on you way. Made a full pot of a medium Roast Following the guide. It’s cool that the topper with the tube does not allow air in the thermo pot when filling so the coffee does not oxidize. When done replace with the the stopper and the coffee stayed steaming hot for over 4 hours and was still warm after 8. The coffee was outstanding. It was an Italian roast made here in Seattle. Clean up was easy. I will update this in a few weeks to see how we are Rolling. As a side note we were using the kierig cups to make coffee for the past few years and were lulled into thinking it was good coffee.....Also the environmental pollution from all those empty pods to the landfill was not good either. So it looks like a Win, Win, Win Update: 1 1/2 years and it has not skipped a beat. Still a great cup of coffee but to continue to get this you should clean the pot and the coffee maker every 4-6 months with Urnex Cafiza and Dezcal. Available on coffeemakers.us.com. You can watch a video on YouTube. It’s easy. There is though one caveat. When we go out it’s hard to beat the coffee we make at home. It actually saves us money from going to Starbucks so I guess we can add value to the list of great things buying this can do. LOL
I have gone through two and if it gets knocked over from a standing position it will break. The first time it happened I reached out to Coffee Gator and they simply said sorry so despite that awful customer service I bought another. Shame on me. I will never buy this product again. Do yourself a favor and get a better glass carafe. UPDATE: Customer service from the owner Phil was spectacular. He reached out after reading my review and was so thoughtful/generous that I added a star. Just be weary that you need to be careful with the carafe. The canister for storing beans is great and the mesh filter is as good as you can get without having to constantly buy paper filters.
Es una buena cafetera, los materiales se sienten de buena calidad, llego en perfecto estado. No la he probado porque es un regalo, pero la primera impresión fue muy buena
This dome shower head is a game changer. It has four lines that extend from the center. It looks like a plus sign +. Water comes out at one point along each line. It drips from the inner edge of the four lines if you're on BOLD (as close to the center as you can get), and the outer edge of each line on CLASSIC (resulting in four drip dots along the far edge of each line away from the center). Zojirushi's Zutto coffee machine has drip points in a similar setup (plus one that is dead center), but they can't be adjusted. Some people rave about the flavor of the Zutto - I loved it - but they also complain that the coffee may be "over extracted" because if you make a full pot with max grounds, the grounds have a crater in the middle. I was hopeful this machine might be as flavorful as the Zutto, but adjustable so you can avoid a crater and spread out the shower head if you use more grounds. The machine sort of confirms this. The instructions say "BOLD is recommended for brewing 1-3 cups of coffee" (bold shrinks the shower head drip area to hit the less amount of grounds). My first two brews, each just 12 oz, have been wonderful! Similar flavor to the Zutto in my opinion. I'm very happy. Although I wish there was a drip dead center too. I've used #2 filters so far since it doesn't come with #4, and they fit ok for now. Btw I opened the lid to try to measure temperature (which it says not to do) and I got like 180 to 195 ish, but that might be my thermometer. I wonder if by the time the 200F water hits the dome, then when it drips down it's cooled by a few degrees. I don't subscribe to the 200 degree requirement anyway. I've heard world championship coffee is sometimes brewed at like 170. I think this coffee is good because it's brewed slow and the water hits the beans. I think the cheaper "classic" version of this machine is pretty much a wonderful option and it has the main adjustment for smaller 1-3 cup brews (adjusting the shower head to BOLD) in my opinion. One thing I like about the programmable version is when your coffee is finished, instead of showing the current time, the screen starts at 0 and shows the time elapsed since brewing. Btw time is always military time - I don't think you can change that according to the manual. And the "brew" button has like a braille bump to it and takes a little extra push to register, so I hope that button's reliable.
I make cold brew in this every other day. Great taste and super easy. Also comes with the metal filter not pictured. This is a complete batch of cold brew.
The good news - the machine makes delicious coffee. Expensive but delicious. The good news stops there! My machine ruined two spots on my wood counter / table top. I assumed the first time it was my fault in that maybe I did not seat the water tank properly. Self support online had suggested testing the tank on a by placing it on a dry paper towel. I did this after the first leak and counter damage and the tank seemed fine. So I thought I was good to go and it was a one time incident. A few weeks - no problem. But again on a prolonged few day absense the machine slowly leaked again and ruined a second spot on the counter. NOW - everyone can be reasonable and assume defects happen now and then on any product. So I called the support number expecting to receive a remedy and maybe even a kind "I am sorry it destroyed your wood table top." Instead I was "greeted" with someone telling me they would help only if I went online and created a Nespresso account. So maybe this is "legal" and fine to tell someone they have to create a separate account just to have a faulty product dealt with properly. Even if this is - it is bogus and rude! Nespresso you are charging a premium price for what should be a premium machine and experience. Instead you have shipped a defective product that damages people property and then you have the audacity to hide behind an account membership rather than dealing with the problem. Insane! Untenable and frankly piss poor. You have turned someone that could have been a life long lover of Nespresso products and an advocate into an impassioned detractor. Get it together. You can and should to better!
I went back and forth on buying this for a long time because my kitchen is mint and this machine said Oasis. So I was scared the green and blue would clash, but it looks fantastic! I also bought this used and it was in perfect condition!!
No sé porque los malos comentarios. Mi cafetera funciona muy bien a parte de que es muy bonita! Es perfecta para espacios pequeños. I don't know why the bad reviews. My coffee maker works great. Very cute, perfect for small spaces.
Not pleased with the seller, apparently one Clark Chen of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, CEO of Desung US (annual estimated gross revenue about $33k). When I unboxed the carafe I found that the handle was chipped (see photos--black cardboard used for contrast). It had been smoothed out (someone used emery cloth) so it didn't cut me, but the structural integrity of the glass handle is compromised, AND it was supposed to be NEW. I emailed [email protected] last month requesting a new carafe, but I have not heard from them. Indeed, when I unboxed the product, it looked like this may have been a returned item that they quickly "fixed", put back in the box and shipped (perhaps a sign that the company is financially distressed). I did NOT order a refurbished unit. I don't expect them to stand behind their product and cannot recommend them. All that being said, this unit makes fairly good coffee, though not as good as my brother's Keurig. Essential oils account for much of coffee's taste; I think those oils get filtered out by the cloth filter in the siphoning process. This leaves you with a cup of somewhat good-tasting, very clear coffee. Also, this unit boils the water--that's what forces the water from the carafe into the upper tank--and I have heard that boiled water doesn't necessarily make the best coffee. Coffee at the 5 CUP mark will fill about 2.5 regular coffee cups. Cleaning the carafe is difficult owing to the narrow neck. Same with the upper tank's glass stem (take care, it's fragile). The bristles on the included brush are too stiff to use for cleaning either carafe or tank. The cloth filter will have to be replaced fairly often. Also, when the water in the carafe moves into the upper unit, it leaves about 1/4 inch of water in the bottom of the carafe. Thus, when the coffee siphons back down into the carafe it is diluted to some extent. I guess I like the concept of a siphon coffee maker better than the reality. Anyway, if the company DOES get back to me, great. If they simply respond to my review calling me a kook, or denying that they repackage returned items, I can't say it wasn't expected. Still trying to decide whether to keep using it or chuck it for a Keurig. Good luck!
First I want to say that I love coffee. I love to try different coffees as well. So this machine was intriguing to me since it’s a 4n1 system. I took it out of the box and was instantly impressed with all the accessories it comes with. Has a nice instruction manual and gives easy clear cut instructions. This little machine is small but mighty. doesn’t take up much counter space which is amazing considering all that it does. The water reserve tank is smaller than I thought so will need to be refilled frequently as I drink several cups of coffee throughout the day. This little machine has the ability to make regular coffee ground coffee plus, a smaller metal cup to make espresso, then it has two other attachments for K cups as well as Nespresso cups. Holy cow! So for my family, where everyone likes something different, this machine is amazing as we can all have each individual coffee without having four different machines! I’m beyond thrilled. Easy to use. I followed the instructions and got it cleaned first thing, then I started in making espresso. I packed the grounds in tight and the amazing cup of joe that I received is as good or better than paying money for Starbucks. It’s technically small enough that I could pack it in the car during travels. I’m so impressed. I highly recommend this and would definitely make a great gift especially families that enjoy other types of coffees.
