   My Old Brew and Go finally gave up the Ghost after 10+ years, this one is more compact, is a bit harder to add water, but the coffee tastes the same. I use a 16 ounce Styrofoam cup in place of the Plastic Mug. To use the filter just remove the reuseable filter basket and push in the cone filter with the pleat toward the back as shown in the picture, you will have some paper exposed above the top which helps to hold it in place. Wish that B&D would re- design this Coffee Maker to use the # 2 Cone filters! Or at least add a Basket that holds them.

   I look forward to waking up and making myself a cup of coffee. Machine works very well. Surprisingly decent for the tiny price. Only thing I would improve is there is no off button so sometimes when you plug it in, it’s ready to start brewing even if you haven’t put the water and coffee in yet. You then need to unplug it to get the machine ready. That happens occasionally. But it does shut off automatically when the coffee is ready so that’s great. I bought another one to give as a gift – that’s how much I like it.

   Have had mine since 2023. I pack it when I travel in case — Heaven forbid — I need a coffee and there’s no coffee maker available. I bring my own grounds and I’m in business in no time. The 16 oz. cup is perfect — I’ve even made some for friends staying with me, they just pour some into other vessels. It does what I need it to. Quick and simple, the unit is very lightweight so it packs easily and has never felt flimsy. That said – it isn’t designed to brew ultra fancy concoctions, but it gets the job done! I find that my coffee flavor is fine especially using my own coffee.

   For a mini coffee pot its okay, the coffee splashes little spots all around the machine. Also, if you overfill the grounds to make stronger coffee, you’re going to end up cleaning the spout. It will have chunks of wet ground on it. I feel like the coffee could be hotter but its still pretty tasty, the machine is compact, and can adjust the ground per taste.

   The best coffee maker! I love the size of the sturdy carafe. The handle is comfortable for my arthritic hands. I like the feature of the different level ‘shelf’, so you can move it up and brew right into your cup, or take it out and brew right into your travel mug. My husband likes his coffee brewed straight in the reusable filter, I prefer to cut a paper filter to put in the mesh one to cut down on the fine grounds that can slip through the mesh one. It doesn’t have a hot plate, so I warm up my mug w/the cream in the micro first. Very easy to clean.

   Does the job in producing a single cup of coffee from your own coffee grounds, but some of the practical features are a downgrade from our previous single cup coffee maker that bit the dust before we purchased this one. My biggest complaint is the base of the coffee maker is too small for a standard sized ceramic coffee mug to sit flat. I don’t use the large carafe that came with it, although my husband likes that it fits his travel thermos. But standard sized ceramic mugs sit crooked and wobble because the base is sized to fit the tapered bottom of the carafe. My other complaint is the opening in the top where you pour water is somewhat narrow, which makes it difficult to pour water in without spilling. Our previous single serve coffee makers had larger openings. My husband’s chief complaint is sometimes the water seems to channel down the sides of the filter and skip some of the grounds, making a weak cup of coffee. He gets around this by brewing all of his coffee twice (pours brewed coffee back into machine and brews again using the same grounds). All in all, not major issues, but still items I was disappointed with in comparison to previous single serve coffee makers we have owned.

   This little coffee maker meets all my needs. The size is perfect, hardly taking up any counter space. It’s practically custom fit for my favorite set of coffee mugs so there’s no splatter. I like to use a small non-bleached paper basket filter that fits right into the cup when I trim the top of the filter. It brews quickly around 3 minutes and shuts itself off. There is no hot plate to deal with which I really like also. It brews a good cup of coffee.

    I am a retired nuclear designer & know quality when I see it. Black and Decker has always been my go to brand, so I bought this coffee maker to replace a Keurig that was more trouble than it was worth. The good stuff. It makes a nice cup of coffee, easy to clean & is attractive. The bad stuff. The “press to start” button has a hair trigger. Moving the unit on the bar can start it before you’re ready. I leave it unplugged until I’m ready to start. When I go to start it this becomes a handy feature tapping anywhere on that side starts the coffee maker. I’m guessing there’s no switch but two contacts & one acts as the spring. Next is the water reservoir the fill slot is so small I have to be careful not to spill the water. The bottom of the reservoir is flat not funnel shaped and some water stays on the bottom. If you bump it before filling a small amount of water goes in the hole and boils away. Then you have to wait for it to cool down. I’m not happy.

    The unit I received appears to be defective and might be a potential fire hazard if left unattended. The unit starts running the brew cycle automatically without pressing the start button after it is initially plugged in, so you have to make sure you add water and coffee and have a mug in place before plugging it in. Another major problem is that after it runs a brew cycle and turns off, the unit turns itself back on automatically after a while and starts running another brew cycle. This requires the unit to be unplugged after each use.

    It is a small coffee maker and good fit for a person usage. And it is very easy to clean and light weight. It saved the space! However, it is not tall enough for different type of cups. Original cup was not good for hot drink and cause heavy plastic smell in the drink, so I don’t use it after tried three times. I finally decided to keep it since I searched many items even two to three times expensive of this one, boiler part is still make in plastic. Hmmm…… is there a one which is not made of plastic?

    This little gem is well worth the money! It makes a perfect cup of coffee. I see some people complained that the grounds went all over. Well, I seen some of the photos, and it looks to me like they put way too much coffee grounds in. If you want strong coffee, then go out and buy strong coffee. Don’t blame the coffee make because you put way too much coffee grounds in. I put two rounded teaspoon fulls of medium strength coffee, and it makes a perfect cup of coffee. I choose to put medium strength coffee, because I like it a bit strong. But I give this five stars!

    Not that I am a coffee expert but this small coffee maker works great for me and it is a plus that a 20oz yeti style tumbler fits in it nicely. The one downfall is the supplied insulated cup, it is not well insulated. But I figured that was going to be the case. I also did decide to use 1-4 cup paper filters in it rather that the supplied reusable screen filter, as I am too lazy to clean the filter daily.

    Replacing my older Black & Decker coffee maker because the glass pot broke , and it’s the same price to replace the entire unit . Arrived today , it does not keep the coffee hot ! There’s no hot plate on the base that stays hot to keep the coffee warm ! I can’t believe it . Totally disappointed . Returning .

    This coffee maker is easy to use. It brews nice hot coffee with a good flavor. But there’s a couple things I don’t like- the ‘on’ switch is too easy to push accidentally if you bump into it and if you do accidentally push the button you have to unplug it, you can’t just simply turn it off! & I think that is a safety hazard! and my second issue is that a regular, general average size coffee cup does Not sit flat in the maker while the coffee is brewing! that little drip tray area is very uneven and does not hold several size coffee cups – the only coffee cup that actually sits evenly flat is the travel mug that it came with and I don’t like that one because the lid doesn’t stay on.. so I have to adjust and actually prop up my coffee cups while they’re Brewing just so they can sit in there evenly. Kind of hard to see in the picture but that coffee cup does not sit evenly in there and that is a very basic average everyday coffee cup size.. it’s good coffee maker but some issues need to be fixed before I’d recommend this product.

    Originally purchased for travel then began daily use. 16 oz bottled water ideal for filling, makes two 8oz servings. Removable filter basket permits residual grinds to transfer into the mug which is undesirable, remedied with use of paper filters, pictured. No more residue and improved flavor.     My previous coffee maker died after many years. Companies redesign products for marketing purposes and rarely for improvement. I have no doubt that this machine won’t last as long as the other. It makes coffee the way it’s supposed to, very convenient if you just want a large mugfull in about 5 minutes. I prefer paper filters because they work better, leaving no grounds in the cup. Unlike the cone shaped earlier model, this model is designed solely for their own round one. I don’t like the way the top never closes.

    I wanted a maker that uses grounds. I’m not a fan of the Keurig type maker. I feel like there isn’t much flavor. I love this! It is compact and perfect for a small space. It makes really hot coffee. I am learning how much coffee grounds to use as it was a little strong. I do use a 1-4 cup filter for easier cleanup. I just stick it in on top of the filter it comes with. I’m not a fan of the cup it came with, but it is nice for doing plain water for a cup of hot chocolate. I saw some complaints about splatter if you use a shorter cup. It’s not bad. Have a napkin handy if your cup is short. It automatically shuts off when done. There are a few drops after, so just put that napkin down if you want your beverage right away. Very happy with this product.

    Works well. However does not have a drip tray where you put your cup. So after brewing your coffee and you remove your cup it will drip. Hard to notice because the coffee maker is black. So if you forget to wipe it up, next time you go to make coffee it will get all over the bottom of your cup.

    Overthinkers and over researchers: This review is for you. I spent weeks researching single serve coffee makers about 15 months ago. Why? Because that’s what I do. If you’re on the fence, PLEASE read this and just order it. It’s worth it, spend the research time thinking about something else. Background: I’m no coffee snob. Too lazy and apathetic for a French press; I usually throw some Folgers in a goodwill or hand-me-down coffee maker and move on with my life. If you truly care about all the intricacies that coffee enthusiasts are passionate about, this probably isn’t the machine for you. I moved into an apartment with not a ton of counter space, and as a single (yet very eligible) bachelor, I wanted something easy and cheap that got the job done. I started mainly looked at coffee makers that were k cup compatible, but ultimately decided against it as the cost per cup is much higher with the k cups, and they take up more storage space in my cupboards. Plus, I like being able to control how much coffee grounds I use. I went with this one for a few reasons: 1) Small footprint 2) Brews more than most pod coffeemakers (16oz vs usually 12oz) 3) Came with a mug 4) Got one used here on coffeemakers.us.com on sale for $18 I’ve been using it almost daily for about 15 months now, and it shows no signs of slowing down. Just throw water in it, put some grounds in (I use a leftover protein powder scoop that is the perfect size), and hit the switch. I have tried the Italian coffee brand coffee pads that are great if you prefer, and are cheaper than K cups. I timed brewing it with a full ~16oz mug for this review. Just under 2 minutes and 45 seconds until it shut itself off and I had a cup of piping hot coffee. I think it’ll drip a few seconds afterwards, idk. I don’t pay enough attention. Tip: to clean the grounds from the filter easily, I take both the filter and the plastic holder underneath it out together, dump the grounds down the garbage disposal, and cover the drain hole with my finger while filling and dumping out water to rinse out the ground remnants. Every so often, I throw the entire coffee maker in the dishwasher to clean it. I was concerned that none of my mugs would fit. Turns out all of them did except one bulky plastic mug. If it’s under ~7 inches tall, it’ll fit just fine. I have a sunwill 20oz mug from here that fits perfectly, and an Ozark trail mug from Walmart that fits great as well. One or two of my mugs have very wide bases that sit a little tilted because of the size of the bottom of the coffee maker, but it does not spill or hold any less liquid as a result and is still stable. I’ll throw in a pic with all the mugs I have that are compatible for reference. I recently thought about replacing this and revisiting the thought of buying a machine compatible with k-cups. After researching this (again), I have decided once again to stick with the B&D. It’s small, isn’t full of stupid features I won’t use, and is not noteworthy in any way — just dump grounds/water in, wait a few minutes, and move on with your day without even thinking about it. How it should be. I wish I could write more about it, but I’m out of stuff to say. It’s easy, it works great, and that’s it. Buy it. It’s a great value and does what it needs to do without any extra fuss. Take the extra money you saved and buy yourself a case of beer. You deserve it.

    I purchased this to bring on a trip so that I wouldn’t have to use the hotel coffee pot. The pros: I saved money & had fresh coffee each morning. The cons: The coffee wasn’t as strong, cleanup of the filter was not as easy (recommend purchasing cloth pods instead), the included cup is cheap and doesn’t keep coffee warm. As the picture shows, my box was pretty torn up. Thank goodness it didn’t affect the product and it wasn’t a gift. So, eh?
