So, I thought this will be a regular "metal" french press. I bought a similarly priced one from target but that was glass and plastic. So I thought a metal one would be slightly better. But it turns out it is a double-layer insulated type metallic pitcher. I was impressed with the quality. I never thought you can get this quality in $20 range pricepoint. It really feels a lot premium compared to any other french press in this price range. The filter system has 2 metal mesh filters layer so the coffee turns out more clear. They also included 2 additional metal mesh filter replacements. My coffee beans were ground to the coarsest setting in Costco store grinders.
I'm SO glad I did not buy the Vertuo Pop!! The internals of this are metal, it's whisper quiet and yes, you can adjust the volume of coffee from the capsules. It's also an automatic open with just a touch, no strong arm needed. So elegant with a metal drip tray and large tank. I was not happy to see coffeemakers.us.com shipped it in retail packaging though. I wish they'd stop that.
I'd like to give it zero stars because it is unusable after owning it less than 2 years and only using it seasonably at our condo. When brewing, the brewer "nozzle" makes an enormous hole in the top of the pod. As a result, coffee grounds go everywhere: back into the nozzle, all over the "inards" and especially into the coffee. The brewer has been properly maintained, cleaned and descaled. All parts appear stable yet instead of pricking a hole into the top of the K-cup, it creates a large hole. I am looking into how to contact the seller: The Home Shopping Concierge. I've also contacted Keurig.
... and this cold brew system is no exception. My first attempt at cold-brew coffee ever and it was so simple to do. I chose the "concentrate" level and left it to brew for 24 hours after giving a nice shake. I was surprised to see that with one shake, the room-temperature water in the jar was already starting to look like coffee. (The picture I included was taken after the "shake" and had only brewed for a couple of minutes.) Since I chose the concentrate recipe, when the brew time was up I added about half a cup of the finished cold brew to a cup and filled with boiling water to have a warm cup. It tasted smooth and a little weak so I will need to play with the timing, amount of coffee, different grind, etc. This item is good quality with a heavy glass jar and a stainless basket for the ground coffee. Everything fit together well and cleaned up easily in the top rack of my dishwasher. If you like cold brew coffee, I recommend this Masontops version.
Follow up a year later- still works amazing and works as it did in the beginning. You do have to tilt it when you get to the bottom though and I do have to catch a couple of drops after I close the spigot. Still find it to be a great purchase a year later. Makes great brew 😍 Works great. Fits fine ( I was worried it would be too tall but it fits a standard fridge and you could always raise or lower a shelf if so). I use 2.5 cups of coffee grounds and fill up with water. It’s more of a concentrate at that point so I use 4-8 oz and I’ll add milk, cream, and ice to my liking for dilution. Easy to clean and makes good cold brew.
I love this french press. I've been using the Bodum Chambord for years & have 10 of them, in the various sizes (3, 4, and 8 cup). It's good looking, quite sturdy, and replacement parts are easy to find. HOWEVER ... I do have some complaints about the design. FIRST: The lid is made from 2 pieces (a chromed decorative cover over a plastic base), with a space inside for water to leak into while cleaning and create a mold problem. This does not sit well with me at all, and my initial solution was to remove the plastic retaining clip to separate the pieces every time I washed it ... which became quite cumbersome b/c the clip isn't easy to get out. I eventually replaced the plastic clip with my own system, which is much easier to remove ... and then permanently removed the chrome cover and stored it away. (See Photo for details) SECOND: The cylindrical lock-nut holding the filter assembly together is difficult to take off for cleaning when my hands are wet. My solution was to replace it with a stainless steel wing nut. (see photo for details) THIRD (not necessarily a design issue): I keep my press & all of its pieces meticulously clean, and yet after only a few days of storage, a foul odor always develops inside the carafe and on the filter assembly, to the point that I must soak it in bleach water prior to use. If I don't, I can actually taste that 'smell' in my coffee & it disgusts me. My solution to that problem was to store the lid/plunger assembly upside-down in the carafe, thus providing plenty of ventilation for the essential parts. (see photo for details) Now I'm totally pleased with the modified version of this press.
Metal seal inside bottom edge flakes off. I order ebay an use one 20yrs old made in America, seal on metal still good. This could be sample gold plated, plated flakes off.
First cup of coffee from new coffee maker so excited that I forgot to make a video but here’s a shot. My fancy Krupps died after many years & I was looking for an inexpensive alternative. I was lucky enough to score this machine on Prime day at a great price! I am impressed with the quality, workmanship & ease of the machine. I was surprised by all the products that Mueller offers & will definitely consider buying another Mueller product in the future.
This one cup pour over brew is one of early morning simple tasks . Small filter into the cone, coffee grounds and put this over your cup. I use electric kettle for the water and slowly pour over the grounds . I always get less of any grounds able to pass into cup and i get a clean coffee. Very Happy Enjoy .
My old Mr. coffee was on its last leg after years of use and it was the basic one with no timer. So I found this one at great price and it had a timer. It had mostly great reviews but I saw a few complaining about how you can't take off the part where you put the coffee filter and coffee so you can't clean it. Well I don't know if they didn't read directions or are not mechanically inclined, but all you have to do is just lift up on it and twist and it comes right off to clean. Easy to put back on too. See picture below I took and you can see it unattached and in my hand. As others suggested I bought a separate basket filter for a reasonable price to place in tray and I also use paper filter. I get clean, ground free coffee every time. So yes if you don't want to spend much and still have a great coffee experience, this one is for you.
This is fun & pretty. The good thing I can say is you'll have hot coffee for sure. The instructions are in Japanese, I looked up everything on YouTube. The milk froth taste like streamed evaporated milk
I purchased this in August. Was working fine until this morning. Can't get a hold of customer service. Not a happy camper.
I've owned two Cuisanart coffee makers in the past (both Grind & Brews) and this maker is just as good, if not a bit better from a cleaning perspective. Just empty the gold tone filter and wash with warm soapy water and you're done. The fact that there isn't a carafe is kind of genius. Having owned two Keurigs over the past few years, I grew tired of the K-Cups and really craved a good old-fashioned cup of coffee. You're going to get that with this machine. The design is quite beautiful and I love how it lights up your coffee as you pour into your mug. Those familiar with Cuisanart will probably like that the machine has similar features to the other models, including the five gentle beeps it makes after completing the brew cycle. It takes about 7 minutes to brew a full 12 cups. I brew about 2 cups daily and this model is perfect for that. Easy to set the night before, brews quickly, gives off a nice aroma, and clean up is minimal. Regarding commuter mugs: I use the Oxo Good Grips stainless steel mug and it fits under the machine after you remove the drip tray. If you have anything taller, it's not going to fit unless you angle the mug under the pour spout. The reviewers who complained about the electric cord being too short don't realize that you need to tug firmly when you first remove from the box. The cord is exactly the length stated in the product description. A gentle yank should do the trick. See my photo for reference. Although I do love the minimal parts and effort to clean after using, I would like to see another model like this with the Grind & Brew option. I am a big fan of that model because you don't have to use a separate device to grind the beans. But, you go into it knowing you have to clean the grinding chamber and its lid daily (hence why two less parts to clean on this model is attractive, in addition to not cleaning a carafe and lid daily). Overall this is a fantastic machine for those tired of the K-Cups, Nespresso pods, etc., but want a similar machine using "normal coffee."
This is such a beautiful French press. I love the color. It’s heavy and well made. I have been using a glass French press for the past 4 years and this one definitely keeps my coffee hot for longer. With my old French press I always had an issue with coffee grounds getting through the screen. This French press has a double sediment filter and not one ground got through it. Over all a 10/10! Great product.
The glass Shattered with coffee and burned my arm less than a month after I purchased it. Such a big disappointment!
