This review is for the Cuisinart DGB-450 Series Coffee make / grinder. Waking up to wonderful, freshly ground and brewed coffee was amazing! But we bought two of this model, one after the other, after being assured by Cuisinart that the extremely loud grinder, that wakes us up at the other end of the house, was not the norm. But I think it may be the norm for all grinders. The other thing that was the same was that the instruction book says: "Your coffeemaker is preset for medium, the optimal grind for this type of brewing process". But this grinder seemed to grind very fine, producing a sludge throughout the machine that is difficult to remove (see photo). I would think that would reduce the life of the coffee maker. Returned the first and second machine for those reasons. We did love the stainless steel pot that kept the coffee hot (but not bitter) for several hours!

Incredible flavor when you you use the right ratio of grounds to water. Beautiful display piece too. I love the clean lines and simple perfection of this vessel. Use this method when you are making several cups to be served at the same time. Otherwise, the coffee will cool fairly quickly.

Great pour over coffee maker at a reasonable price. Highly recommend.

Although this is adorable I'm glad it's just for me in my office. Clearly this is a return and was used. It's sticky, with coffee stains and some other kind of mess on the cord. I am unsure if I will be returning or not. I haven't tried it yet. Gross, but it's really cute. I just wish I got a NEW ONE that I paid for.

This is an update to my review. Weeks after I posted the review below, customer service contacted me and were very apologetic with my experience with the product. They offered to either send me a new carafe or one of their other products, or provide a full refund. While my point still stands that the glass carafe isn't durable, the fact that they're willing to go so far as to make up for my bad experience puts a smile on my face. They didn't have to, but they did. And that makes all the difference. The metal filter works decently well and is easy to clean. The carafe on the other hand...small opening that even a short guy with small has trouble scrubbing. Then, there's the durability of the carafe. The bottom of the carafe is extremely thin, so thin that it completely shattered when I bumped it lightly against the sink! You can see that I didn't bump it hard, as there's still parts of the bottom still intact, and the main body of the carafe isn't cracked or shattered. I didn't realize how thin the bottom was until I picked up a large chunk with a pair of chopsticks. I guess I can consider myself lucky that I had never walked it over to the table, where the glass would have gotten everywhere. Overall, works as advertised, but I won't be buying another one. $28 gone in the lightest of bumps.

  • I used this product very carefully according to the manufacturers directions and after my fifth use the top of the machine came apart !!!

  • So far, so good! I had a keurig prior to getting this one that brews “shots” and has the frother and it’s a game changer. I didn’t want more than one machine on my countertop so I needed something that could both brew coffee and make my lattes. After lots of research and this one going on sale, I decided to try it out and see how I liked it as opposed to other machines. So far it’s great and super easy to use if you’re used to using a keurig already! The frother is great, but I’ve only tested it with whole milk so far. Overall, super happy with my purchase!

  • In the beginning all sees to e great with this. It came with all the parts you need, its programmable, and it has an auto shut off. All good right. Nope The first thing that was weird was wen measuring out the coffee and water based on the numbers on the carafe and water tank my coffee always came out either too strong or to watery. So i used a graduated mason jar ad realized the numbers on the carafe don’t match up to Ounces, Cups, or milliliter/Liters. I mean the I have no clue why the numbers are even there. They don’t correspond with anything. So i start using my mason jar and getting the mixtures of coffee and water right then things started breaking. Also i have to double filter with coffees or I get grounds in the carafe. The first thing to break was the coffee scoop that came with it it broke at the bend where the handle turns into the scoop. Then when taking the filter holder out the stopper broke off and flew across the room because of the spring. So now the stopper that prevents drips when the carafe is out is broken. So now the anti-drip feature is gone. This is the worst product I’ve ever gotten from coffeemakers.us.com Basics and normally their stuff is great.

I do like the space saving design; but, everything else about it is mediocre compared to the BUNN it replaced. Even the coffee doesn’t get/stay as hot. I’ll be trying the auto start for the first time, (it’s set for the morning). Hopefully, that goes well. The only suggestion I have for improving is the filter holder. Ooo, and maybe add a battery backup in case the electricity goes out due to storms/outages. A big plus is that it uses the same filter holder and coffee pot as my old BUNN, so, I have them packed away now in case of future replacements is needed.

The alcohol burner works well with pre-heated water. I recommend being careful with the hook on the filter spring lock because the spring is strong and just pulling it down and letting it go seems to have caused problems for another reviewer. It makes good coffee if the beans are good. Any defects in the beans also show up. The top bowl shouldn't be forced into the bottom bowl, just seat it gently when the water starts boiling in the lower bowl. As others have noted, the cups size is closer to demitasse than standard US coffee cups, and the three cup measure makes a nice large mug. If people want to keep the coffee hot, use a thermos. A dilute Clorox solution will remove any soot that alcohol might leave (I was using a local drugstore 95% probably denatured ethyl alcohol bought in Nicaragua where I live.

  • Pros: -So many great settings that pay off. Single serve, mid-brew pour (so you don’t have to wait for the whole pot to brew), delayed brew, and more. -Sometimes steel carafes can have a metallic flavor but I didn’t notice any problem. -Easy to clean the water retainer, machine, and the pot. Overall, I didn’t notice any problems and would definitely recommend this.

Best French Pressed Coffee Pot I have Ever Owned. JL

  • I discovered nitro brew coffee not that long ago and immediately knew that it was something I wanted to have more often than I wanted to spend $6 on ONE cup of coffee. This little machine is excellent at creating a simple, yet decadent cup of cold brew coffee! It’s frothy, rich and takes the piercing bitter taste of cold coffee to a similar level of a hot cuppa!
