I'm still on the fence about this coffee maker. It does look nice and makes good hot coffee using the pods. It didn't work as well using ground coffee. I will have to continue to work with it to get the measurements right. I like that it has a 10 oz size so I can take larger cups of coffee to work. It also works well with teabags and loose tea. Overall it works I was just a little disappointed trying to make ground coffee. Otherwise, I don't have any other complaints.
I purchased my Bodum 8 Cup Coffee press in January of 2003 (was only $ 19.99 back then...smile...)and it is still going strong. By far, the best cup of coffee that you can make at home sans an espresso machine. Actually...it rivals my very expensive Saeco espresso machine...by getting all of the oils from the coffee bean you are getting a full bodied cup of coffee, the way it was meant (yes...I know all about non-filtered coffee's health concerns...) to be. Of course, for the best possible outcome, you would grind your fresh coffee beans right before making your cup of "Joe"... I like "Starbucks" "French and Italian Roast"; "Newhall Coffee Roasting Company" in Valencia, CA's "Sumatra Mandheling - Grade 1"; and Polly's Gourmet Coffee" in Belmont Shore, CA's "Colombian Supremo". Both Newhall Roasting Company and Polly's roast their own beans with Polly's roasting their coffee beans onsite. There is nothing like getting a warm bag of coffee beans right out of the roaster! If you aren't local, no problem...Newhall and Polly's both deliver. But back to my review. I believe the reason that my Coffee Press has served me well for so many years is because I take care of it. When I stir the coffee beans after filling with boiling water, I use a chop stick to stir the brew. I carefully hand wash and am very careful when hand drying. That's it! BTW...I wrap a kitchen towel around the press which seems to keep the coffee warmer for a tad longer. I know...I'll invent an insulated blanket and become rich!...smile...Enjoy! Update 12/02/2012: I was asked if I knew where my Coffee Press was manufactured. I didn't know when asked, but recently found the box and the answer is "Portugal". Again, I made my purchases in 2003, Product No: 1928 US.
Coffee pot cracked first time I brewed with it and made a mess and I stained white countertops
It does it's job pretty good. I don't care for the stacking of plastic parts and pieces every morning. It's like a bad game of Jenga. I use it primarily with a mesh filter just because I like the full bodiedness of the coffee. If you use a mesh filter, you have to close the filter basket off to allow all the grinds to soak. It's easy to forget about that and walk away. The basket has an overflow chute on it to allow water to flow out of the basket and into the pot. I think the older versions do not have that feature because I read many reviews where people were walking away and coming back to find coffee and grounds everywhere. Another thing I don't care for is that the basket does not sit flush on a countertop. It spins around like a dreidel top. Honestly, this coffeemaker was way to expensive for what you get...
I have had mine for about 10 years! And it's still going strong. I have to admit that I didn't use it much when I first got it. For about the last 4 years we have used it a lot. I'm pretty sure it wasn't 256 Dollars! There is no way it's that expensive!
I love the lever dispenser, simplicity, easy clean. Fits under cabinets. Looks attractive. No noise.
I have always used a 12 cup traditional coffee brewer, so I felt like I upgraded when I bought a single cup style. Turns out, I’m not a single cup gal. So, I gave this one a try and I’m glad I did. I LOVE the cold brew and over ice functions for an afternoon treat, and the classic or rich styles for the mornings. It has a delay brew function, which I was missing with the single cup brewer I had chosen. This one looks nice in our kitchen. It’s definitely an upgrade to the old traditional coffee pot I had. I love the drip stop function so I can pour while it’s still brewing. It’s a 12 cup capacity, but I can brew various sizes easily. I feel it’s a good value for the multi functions it has, and good quality but only time will tell on that. You can choose to use #4 cone filters, or just the built in filter, but I always use a paper filter so it is an easier cleanup. Also, fine grounds will end up in your cup without the paper filter. Due to reading some reviews about a weird taste, I washed the parts extra well before using and I don’t taste anything other than my coffee. My single cup version had a built in milk frother, so I’m missing that on this guy. But it is an option on a different model when you click to order. At this time, i recommend this Ninja product Edit to original review: if you put the recommended scoops of coffee grounds in for a full carafe, the water going through the grounds causes them to overflow and there will be coffee grounds coming out around the edge and into your coffee. So, you have to go with less coffee grounds. I’m still trying to work this out since I rarely need a full carafe of coffee. I usually just brew enough for myself, but we had company for breakfast and it made a mess to add the recommended coffee grounds for the full carafe. I’m disappointed! Another edit: i absolutely do not recommend this anymore. After it overflowed coffee grounds again, I started a return and replaced it with a Keurig Duo. I’m so disappointed that Ninja’s product has this flaw. Also, it splatters coffee on the tile backsplash each time I brew. I do not like that! They need to work on this design! You should be able to brew without splatter, and you should be able to brew as recommended without coffee grounds overflowing!
This is an interesting coffee maker, fun to watch. But it is difficult to clean, especially if you are missing the brush that is supposed to be included. (see pictures) Unfortunately Bodum customer service denies that the brush should be included, even though it is listed and pictured in the instruction booklet. If you email Bodum about it you will get a terse and unhelpful reply. Also, the filter is on a chain that clips directly onto the glass tube that connects the two parts of the maker. The filter must be removed to clean the pot. I expect that the bottom of the tube will chip or crack with daily use, rendering the pot useless. I would not purchase again.
This coffee maker is small and space saver, this will be perfect for camper or for small apartment with limited space. It fits the standard size coffee pod, and it also came with reusable filter for ground coffee. The cup holder base accommodates standard size cup. It brews coffee good, it takes awhile to heat up the water and turns off after brewing.
Poor slow from carafe. Burner/Warmer Keeps coffee hot all day. Love the reusable filter.
I don’t normal write reviews but l’m pretty upset with how my package came. I picked it up and I could hear the glass pieces inside. I was super excited for this order and disappointed by how my package was treated for a pretty expensive coffee maker.
Excellent product. Easy to clean. Great value.
This thing is tiny! When I read description that is is 5 cups , i thought half of your normal 12 cup carafe. So I got it and cried when I opened the package. And this was 35$!!!! Their product description and pictures are total misrepresentation. There is no way this is 5 cups!!!! Maybe in a doll land! What cups are they going by?? These are not 8oz cups like your normal carafe. This carafe is not even 4 inches tall!!! Don't know what to do.
Remove paper first! Then brew. The coffee is sensational … comparable to my countertop Nespresso Vertuoline matchine. Don’t make my mistake, though, and watch a few YouTube’s before making coffee … there’s a piece of paper in there that you REMOVE before your first try. If you don’t, you’ll be tossing out your first precious cup and using the enclosed brush to remove the soggy paper from the capsule grill in the cap. :)
Enamorada d mi cafetera😍😍☀️
