I know this is mid-range in cost, but I expect more. Starting with what I see as design flaws. It is very hard tell if there is coffee already made in the carafe. (see photos). The water reservoir is in the rear of the coffeemaker which makes it difficult to be able to empty a full carafe of water into the reservoir for drip coffee. To add water for espresso or k-cup serving the water reservoir is in the back of the machine so you must pull it out from the wall to access the reservoir. There is no way to turn the machine off once coffee is made and the carafe is emptied. Not until it reaches its full warming cycle and then it automatically shuts off. This seems like it could cause carafes to burn or scorch as they are left on warming plate empty. The temperature of the coffee is not very hot, and cools down far too fast (cools down to barely lukewarm after a few sips) which says it wasnt very hot to start. Finally the motor on the espresso part of coffeemaker is unbelievably loud when making espresso. (listen to video) I kept it for a week and tried to like it or get used to it, but it only frustrates me. So I am now back to the drawing board to find a decent coffee/k-cup/espresso maker :-( Right now to have a coffeemaker that combines drip coffee, espresso and k-cups it appears that there are only two choices on the market at this time, this one and the Ninja.
Not sure why this cup was made with such a narrow cone top. Neither filter fits properly so I use my ceramic filter holder over a mug most mornings for convenience. Very disappointed chemex doesn't have an affordable option. I had the bigger chemex but my toddler likes to help make coffee and I can't see breaking another one (or barring her from helping)
There are no instructions that came with mine. 60 plus years of drinking coffee in a variety of coffee makers, I know how to use this, and it works pretty good. On our electric stove, it takes about 10 - 12 minutes for a full 8 cups to complete. The cool thing about a percolator design, it heats the water to the perfect brewing temp of 205°F. You can tell when it is done when the glass dome shows the water becoming darker. As soon as you see the tint start, give it about 2 more minutes. Lower the heat if it is perking to violently. Turn off the heat and allow it to stop perking. Then serve. Be careful, this makes nice HOT coffee. I want to note the spring. Be careful NOT to lose this spring. The percolator will allow coffee grounds to get into the coffee without the spring. I found that I could push the spring down onto the tube stop enough that the spring stop hold the spring firmly, reducing the chance of losing it. All in all this is a very good, well made percolator coffee maker. Makes really good coffee. Perfect in the morning. Well worth a full 5 stars!
Well my 5 year old Keurig died this morning about 8:30. No coffee. I knew I had my eye on the Elite because it has a hot function and a strong button. I use one of them at work. So I jumped on coffeemakers.us.com to buy the Elite as a replacement. 3 hours later it's hooked up and I have a cup of coffee. Good and hot even though I put cold 1/2 and 1/2 in it. Great coffee machine. Delivery from coffeemakers.us.com was amazing. And I'm sipping my morning cup. Woo hoo.
This steamer works well the first few months but it would overheat(error 8). We would have to unplug it so it would cool down. It is unusable now due to circuit board is damage & no power. Product last less than 6 months. I contacted Seller but they say we need to get someone to fix it and will compensate after repairs. The problem is they don’t have an authorized repair center. No company will have parts and there is no manual for repair or name of company on machine. i doubt they will reimburse for repairs when a technician will charge by the hour and definitely will need time to repair when there is no manual. This will probably cost same amount as the steamer!!
Very misleading. A cup is a unit of measurement equal to 8 ounces. I couldn’t believe how tiny the carafe was and thought there was no way that’s “5 cups”. It’s 3 cups of water which reduces to even less coffee… about two servings of coffee for a standard American sized mug. The find print is on the box. I don’t know anyone who considers 5 ounces to be a cup. I chose Black & Decker because of the reliable name after have expensive espresso machines that break and are too expensive to fix. Let’s hope it brews better than the company measures.
This damn thing- it doesn't always poke holes through the k-cup, which creates a mess. It CONSTANTLY wants to be "cleaned' with no warning. You're in the middle of making a cup of coffee and it will stop and say "clean". Won't reset and the "clean" takes 75 minutes. Stick with the Keurig.
I’ve gotten a lot of compliments on how fancy and cool this looks. We’ve got a whole coffee bar with shelves, teas, a kettle, grinder, various coffee containers and bags, etc… and this looks wonderful in the middle of all these materials. Style alone isn’t enough, but thankfully this is functional as well. I enjoy how versatile the frame is. I’ve used this with a metal cone filter I’ve had for some time, and I can switch out the carafe with ease. I can simply place my mug underneath when I brew a single cup, but there’s not quite enough space to place my thermoses or other carafes underneath. The glass cone is also a bit small; it’s just barely big enough to brew 20oz to fill up my go-to thermos. I’m considering getting a larger plastic V60-like cone to replace the glass one included in this set, but there aren’t a ton of those that would fit in this frame.
It's small and compact. And brews great. The only think I don't like is the filter. It comes with a reusable filter but the coffee goes through it fast . You end up with a weak cup of coffee. What I done to fix the problem is I poke a hole in a cup cake paper and it fit perfectly inside the reusable filter. The coffee brews longer for a better tasting cup of coffee. It will be expensive to use baking cups for filters so I'm looking for some small filters that will work. Update. What works great is I regular coffee filter sandwich between the basket and the reusable filter
I purchased this to replace my original Cuisinart K-cup machine, which started leaking after 10 years - so this review is a comparison between the two. Some things have been downgraded, and some things have been improved. The original machine was much sturdier. The lever on this new machine that you lift up to insert the k-cup is plastic, and is like a flap that you pull up on that then pulls the rest of the lid open. It feels like it could easily snap off, compared to the one on the old unit that was made of a heavy duty metal. In addition, the finish is like a silver mirror color, and it picks up every fingerprint that touches it. It seems like a bad design choice for the most frequently touched part of the machine. Also, the lid for the water reservoir does not sit flush with the rest of the top. It’s a minor annoyance, but something I notice and attribute to Cuisinart having cheaped out on certain things, compared to the original model. Finally, when selecting a cup size for brewing, the sizes are arranged left (smallest) to right (largest)...and the buttons to change sizes are below them - for a smaller cup you press the down arrow, and for a larger cup the up arrow. Oddly, the up arrow is on the left and the down arrow on the right. So they are to go up a size (right on the displayed sizes) you have to press the button on the left. The old unit had the button to scroll left on the actual left side, and the button to scroll right on the right. This new design is backwards and doesn’t make sense. If that was confusing, see the picture of the buttons and display I’m including. Despite those things, I’m still happy overall with it, mostly because there is no more waiting for the unit to heat up! As soon as you turn the power on, it’s ready to brew. It also takes up less space on the counter, which is nice. I do wish they wouldn’t have replaced the metal with plastic though. It does not seem like this new one will as long as my original.
I am extremely happy with this new addition to my kitchen counter! This coffee maker is amazing!!! Super easy to use, assemble, clean and maintain; the design and layout is very dynamic and the coffee is delicious!!! It's not an espresso but coffee maker, so even tho you can make a loaded single shot, it doesnt make the thin layer of foam that's so classical of a well made espresso. The capuccinos are great, and the frother warms the milk at the perfect temperature and with great foam. 10/10!!!
This pour over dripper is simple to use and fills the room with rich coffee aroma. It brews evenly and is perfect for everyday use. One downside is that it doesn’t fit well on wide-mouthed mugs. Still, it’s a great tool for anyone who enjoys manual coffee.
This is the second Keurig that we have purchased. Love the flexibility of making, coffee, tea or hot chocolate. Had problems with our keurig cups, but the company replaced them. Love the color.
This is a very nice item. It’s convenient, easy to use. The color is as the picture. The tips of making ice coffee is cool. Can’t wait I have a friend who is a ice coffee liver and i gifted this to her. Maybe I can update my review when she uses it.
