**UPDATE** I did my last test which was no paper filter, room temp steeping and very course ground coffee made for Cold Brew (Brizzy sold here on coffeemakers.us.com). Again, it did not drain after the first two cups (See video and pictures). This is just wasting money and coffee, which isn't cheap. There is definitely a flaw in the design. The grounds just collect over the screen and prevent any water from getting out. I really wanted to like this cold brewer. The first batch I made was great and it worked fine. The second and third batches (same coffee) not so well. After 10 hours of trying to drain the coffee, I had to stand over the maker with a spoon and keep swirling the sludge so it would drip. Finally got about 2 cups worth. The 3rd time same thing. See pictures of the sludge that forms on the screen between it and the paper filter. Oxo was trying to blame me for making it improperly. It's not brain surgery. I tried 2nd time steeping in fridge and 3rd time back on counter. Both times it also started leaking underneath. About 1/2 cup worth. I don't understand the good reviews. The first batch did taste good. The search continues.
If you are using this for the first time do a dry run with it or even toast some oatmeal with it before you do the more costly coffee beans. I got the one with the thermostat and timer. You can set the max temp and rotation time. The machine will continue to spin till the temp cools off, this is so that the beans don't get roasted too much or burn beyond redemption. This is an important feature that I like. This means I can start this machine up outside in the cold weather months and go to sleep and when I wake up it will have roasted to perfection and cooled to perfection. Keep in mind that once roasted the beans have to be cooled off so if you un plug the machine you must take the beans out and put them under a fan. This machine does it for you without a fan if you adjust the temp and rotation timer. As for easy to clean, they could have designed the rotor to come off to clean so I gave it a 4 star, other than that it is a 5 star product. 3rd generation coffee grower (sort of)
We have been looking for a decent pour over system for awhile now. Obviously once you start doing pour overs, it’s difficult to go back to standard drip coffee but we found that we missed being able to make a pot of coffee, err, multiple cups for one person/ one cup for multiple people. We tried the sleek multi cup system on the right but the filter was very poor quality and had some serious drain issues, even with coarse grinds so our favorite system for over a year was the single cup, rubber pour over that you also see. THAT IS until we got the Bodum! PROS: - mesh filter which means no more stocking paper filters and you get that “dirty”, earthy coffee flavor - filter drains very well so no clogging issues - double wall glass so it stays fairly warm but it’s not a thermos so, not for longer that you’d expect - large bottom means lots of coffee - cork neck makes handling easy - the aesthetics are obviously top notch CON: - we could probably use an even larger filter and container -it’s fragile, but it’s hard to say that’s a negative given it’s a glass coffee system.... A great buy!!
It works but it’s nothing to write home about. I’ve noticed coffee grainsat the bottom of my coffee cup so don’t take the last little sip. It comes with a scoop and travel mug which is a nice bonus.
While the brewing time is, I would say, slightly above average and the coffee is hot, the small single serve water reservoir with it's ill fitting lid, turned out to be too much of a hassle for me. Broke down a bought a Keurig (on sale). Wish I'd done that to begin with.
So this might be my favorite thing in 2018. I absolutely love it and it's saving me money. I didn't get the recipe book, but it's irrelevant since I'm super simple. Lol. I did, however, appreciate the email from the company once it arrived.
First of all, I like this coffee pot because it doesn't contain any microplastics. It's all stainless steel. It's nice and small, four cups. Unlike drip coffee pots, it heats up quickly and it keeps the coffee really hot. There's no evaporation so the coffee doesn't get distasteful. It's easy to clean being all stainless steel. I used drip coffee pots for years until plastic became a concern. This is a great little coffee pot.
Do not buy! I bought this from coffeemakers.us.com in April 2020, didn’t last 1 year. In Feb 2021 received E01 error which the manual indicates you must call Braun. They said the entire coffee pot needs replaced, had to provide proof of purchase and image of error. They denied my claim because I bought from coffeemakers.us.com and coffeemakers.us.com used a third party. Ridiculous. What does it matter...it was brand new and their warranty says it’ll be replaced. Unwilling to honor. $80 piece of crap.
As an avid pourover fan, I've long wanted a way to precisely automate the process to get a consistent cup. Having the ability to use the exact recipes from the roaster is a big deal. The ability to adjust the recipes and dial in gives you full control of the process, but without the variance that hand pouring causes. The grinder alone is worth the price, especially with the variable RPM. Scale is easy to use. Plumbing in allows you to have a large reservoir of treated water. App is evolving and works well during the brew. Auto-mode is a killer added feature that let's you use three recipes directly via the machine without needing the app. Amazing tech and a big step forward for getting a great cup of coffee at home.
The plastic basket that holds the filter is difficult to get into it’s right place. If you don’t take great care to get it to click into place then in the morning the coffee maker will be a mess and a bunch of coffee will be trapped in the filter. Might just be me or maybe there’s some trick I don’t know about but it’s very frustrating that it happens a lot. Also as others have mentioned it is difficult to pour the water from the carafe into the reservoir. Would not recommend this coffee machine to someone at this price point.
This tower is wonderful! It take some trial and error to get your brew perfect, but it is well worth it when you do! The glass is very thin, but seems durable.
i like how they design this cold coffee maker. also it is very easy to use and easy to vlean. the taste is great. i highly recommend this cold coffee machine. thank you.
UPDATE: Well, I had to lower my review by one star. The third time I used it, the retaining clip snapped off and broke one of the tines that holds the potafilter to the handle while I was tamping out the grinds. Bummer... but then again it was only $30, but I still expect a product to last a while even when it's inexpensive Original Review: Wanted an espresso maker for work as I like to make latte's and coffee is not going to cut it. So I found the least expensive espresso maker on coffeemakers.us.com, it had good reviews so for $30 I figured I'd give it a go. Well, it has turned out to be a nice little machine. One "down side" is that the heating element does take time to warm up... you will not hear the fast boil of most machines, in fact, you don't hear anything at all. It just sits there and after about 4 minutes the espresso starts to run out of the portafilter into the carafe. So if you are jonesing for a quick hit, better invest in a faster machine. But if like me, you don't mind a 5 minute pause in your day this is probably a great deal. Good for an office, dorm room, apartment, etc.
This coffee maker was great, until it wasn’t. I bought this as gift for my father and he loved it. It made the coffee hot, quick and the fact that it didn’t take up much room in the kitchen was a huge plus. 5 months into using it though, it barely works. We have to run it 2-3 times in order to get decent coffee out of it. Pretty disappointing to say the least. I am going to contact them today to see if they are willing to replace it or refund me. I will update as soon as I get a response.
Look at these pictures. I ordered a brand new coffee maker and this is what showed up. Even came with free coffee lol. Disgusting and disappointing.
