This ceramic pour over coffee maker works exactly as you'd expect. Filter in, grounds in, and pour. It's reasonably well-made, and affordably priced. My only issue with the design is that as you're pouring water from a kettle, the only way to know you're not going to overflow your mug with coffee is by lifting the pour-over and peeking into the mug. While this was an issue the for my first few mugs of coffee, I noticed it became easier to judge the liquid content as I made more cups of coffee. Overall, it's a solid minimalist little pour-over coffee maker.
Still have issues how to open the lid. Have not been able to use since I bought it. Please help
I Loved the size of this coffee maker but after less than two weeks of use it started blowing up coffee pods and quit brewing after making 2 ozs. It has a very flimsy brewing mechanism. Not a good choice.
I’ve wanted this coffee machine for sometime, however at the time I had a bunn coffee machine. This coffee machine doesn’t brew quite as fast as the bunn, but, it’s sturdy and brews delicious coffee in 7 min., (yes I timed it). I also am really in love with the design.
I got this pitcher hoping to experiment with cold brew at home. While this is a really great pitcher, it has a fundamental flaw: You can’t brew less than a whole pitcher. If you use more than a 1:4 ratio for coffee:water, only half the grinds will be submerged due to the taper of the mesh filter. Because of this, you can’t really adjust the strength or ratio effectively. If the diameter of the mesh strainer was bigger, you could submerge more grinds with less water. Ultimately I like this pitcher but I’m doing to use a cheese cloth instead of the mesh strainer included.
Negatives: It seems as though it's been used. Scuffs and scratches on the coffee maker and noticeable dust in and outside. I would return it but my old Hamilton beach coffee maker broke a week ago and I've been running to dunkin every morning for coffee. . . It's getting old. I'd rather not go another week waiting for a replacement. So I guess I'm keeping it. Also seems to have a slight leak when brewing the coffee. This is my 4th Hamilton Beach coffee maker the average life span seems to be about 2-3 years. Possitives: It is a nice compact size for a machine that does both coffee and espresso drinks. The bold option makes a nice strong cup of coffee. I also love that the one piece folds up when it not in use. I saw complaints about the milk not throfting but mine seems to work fine.
After using the Keurig elite for the past five years we wanted a change. One thing I could never do with our old Keurig was make a good latte. I am thrilled with this new Keurig. It makes the perfect shot to milk ratio with the pre-measured lines I can’t mess it up. I also love the fact that not only does it steam our milk but it froths the top perfectly at the same time. I can now make a cappuccino or latte every morning without having to run to the coffee bar down the street. It’s much cheaper this way more convenient and surprisingly taste just as good if not better. One thing I would change is the temperature of the finished coffee. It doesn’t seem to be as hot as the Keurig elite was. We probably made 200+ lattes and it still works perfectly and we’re very happy with it. By the way it makes a normal cup of coffee just as good.
I’m glad I didn’t have a regular coffee cup under the single cup 12 oz stream as you can clearly see it dispenses almost 16oz two cups worth of liquid
This works very well, very happy with it. Espresso time.LOL
Had it for about a month, and it leaks in at least 3 ways. First, and as many others have commented, the filter basket can clog (due to ground coffee being either too plentiful or ground too fine), so I've adjusted for that. (See photo showing how close the coffee in the filter rises toward the edge of the basket.) This remedy needs refining, more or less coffee to one's taste, so a user should monitor the flow until they get consistent results.) Secondly, this particular machine left a puddle of clean water around the thermal carafe base (see photo), so I removed the 4 screws on the bottom of the machine's base and could see remnants of dripping water inside the tower. Couldn't detect the exact problem but I did notice that the metal cover over the float was dislodged a bit. Reconnected that, ran clean water through it and no longer got a puddle around the carafe, but did notice a trickle of clean water on the base around the tower. That, apparently, is the third type of leak. I suspect something inside might be loose. Ugh. It makes great coffee, quickly and quietly but all of the above suggests Moccamaster's quality control might be lacking. None of this leakage occurred with my previous Moccamaster and when it worked it performed flawlessly. I would be interested in any comments the company can offer about my problems. I did call them, got no help and was told coffeemakers.us.com would only honor refunds for the first 30 days. (Today is Day 31 for me - meh.) Moccamaster's warranty is 5 years if I cannot find a fix, but I'm sure I will. For what I paid, I am profoundly disappointed.
When I pulled it out of the box it was very dirty looking, like it had been used. Also noticed some scratches as well. Not worth $70 in my opinion.
I bought this coffeemaker after reading dozens of reviews. This one was highly rated, despite being reasonably priced. I should have known: sometimes cheap costs too much. I got this for my daughter for Mother's Day, and it worked well for about 3 weeks. Then when she tried to brew a cup, the coffee exploded all over the counter. She cleaned it out, made sure the tube wasn't clogged. It worked for another 2 weeks, then today she had another coffee explosion. I'm sorry, but if an appliance isn't reliable, it's useless. Unfortunately for us, the window for return closed 2 days before the first incident, so word to the wise: send it back as soon as it fails; don't assume it was a one-time thing.
The outer shell is plastic so it's pretty lightweight for for big it is. The filter is nice and snug and easy to move. I tested it by making a little 12oz cup of tea and you can see in the picture just how much volume this carafe can handle. It filtered a beautiful sediment free cup for me. I really like it and would recommend!
Would be pretty great, but the handle spot welds broke free from the body at the top where the lid is attached after just a couple months. It's still 'usable' but it's really dicey and prone to a huge accident with boiling hot coffee. Would like to exchange, but coffeemakers.us.com's 30 day window strikes again. Would gladly alter review rating if things could be made right
