The teapot is excellent. It looks nice, has a comfortable handle and heats quickly. I like the gooseneck spout. It makes it easy to fill the coffee press. Generally, I really like Bodum products, especially their dual walled, glass coffee cups. There is nothing functionally wrong with this coffee press but what was annoying for me what that there was no indication on the top where the open spout is. I used a Sharpie to line up the opening when I want to pour the coffee. I would have thought that would be a no-brainer to emboss an arrow in the metal lid.

If you love great coffee, buy this machine. When I say great coffee, I mean the kind of coffee you would expect and get from your favorite local coffee roaster/café or quality coffee shop (think Starbucks or Peet's, NOT the tasteless brown water that Dunkin' Donuts sells). I've wanted a Moccamaster since I first saw one and tasted the coffee it makes while a college student, way back in the 1980s. Owning one at the time was impractical and unattainable, so I moved on. Over the intervening thirty years, I've always lingered enviously over the store displays whenever I encountered them, but never made the plunge—the machine was just too expensive. That being said, I've owned the best coffee makers from Braun, Krups, Kitchen Aid, and Breville, all of which made decent coffee. In fact, the Breville made great coffee, although its cost was dangerously close the the Technivorm's. That machine was the no-longer-available Breville BKC600XL Gourmet Single-Cup Coffee Brewer—the only Keurig system coffee maker the brewed hot enough for decent extraction. That machine lasted eight years, but finally shorted out due to perforation of the boiler element because of it's aluminum construction. WHAT DID I CONSIDER? I researched and considered buying two machines other than the Moccamaster: one from Breville, the Breville BDC650BSS Grind Control, Silver, and one from Behmor: Behmor Connected Temperature Control Coffee Maker. Both of these machines should make very good coffee, but I ultimately decided on the Moccamaster for several reasons, which I'll explain below. If the Moccamaster were't so much better, or not available, I think either of these machines would be a good option, but note that they're still expensive, so the choice was easy. WHY DID I CHOOSE THE TECHNIVORM MOCCAMASTER? 1. Copper Heating Element—Almost all consumer coffee makers have aluminum heating elements. They will eventually corrode and short-circuit the machine. When this happens, cut the cord off and THROW IT AWAY. This assumes it's been plugged into a GFCI outlet. If it isn't, it will keep working despite the short. You're not only out of compliance with the local electrical code no matter where you live in the United States, but you're playing Russian roulette with your life. A copper element will heat virtually instantaneously, and it will last many years. Copper heating coils are customarily found in better espresso machines, and this quality feature sets the Moccamaster apart from the rest of the field. 2. Replaceable Parts—The Moccamaster has a modular construction which makes most parts user-replaceable. Other parts, such as the copper boiler, switches, etc., will be replaced quickly and at minimal cost by Technivorm's US service facility after the warranty expires. The warranty is five years. 3. Proper Brewing Temperature and Extraction Time—Good coffee require HOT, but not boiling, water. Most coffee makers just don't heat the water enough. The copper element in a Moccamaster heats the water to 196–205º, and has optimal flow-through for the best extraction. This results in coffee that is rich but not overpowering, with a "thick" body and smooth mouthfeel, and no sediment or separation. 4. Optimal Hotplate Temperature and Duration—Coffee should be kept at
  • I was gifted my Fellow Stagg Pour Over [XF] for Christmas. While removing it from its box, the first thing I noticed was that it felt like it would be easy to accidentally drop it. Maybe it's my old hands that are very smooth, but it made me uneasy holding it. It didn't take long before I thought of a fix. I took the silicone sleeve off a travel cup that I don't use and it fits perfectly on the carafe! Now I can handle it with the confidence that it's not going to slip away and break! I love the coffee it brews - better than the cone method I've been using for years.

I purchased this coffee machine because the previous one I had always gave the coffee a burnt flavor. This one does not. It is affordable, lasts long (I've had one at work for the longest time), and is easy to program. It has a clock, an on button, a button to adjust the strength of the coffee, and a button to program for the time you set it at.

  • I am a coffee snob. I was tired of the long pour over coffee process that I've done every morning for years so I looked into coffee makers. Let me tell you, this is the best purchase I've made all year. I love the taste of the coffee. The cold brew option is what prompted me to buy the machine. It does take between 10 and 15 mins, but the fact that it brews as such a low temperature and barely melts the ice is totally worth the wait. I read reviews that the water reservoir leaks for some people, I've never experienced that problem and I brew coffee twice a day. The machine is easy to clean and I love the reusable filter. The milk frothy is also easy to use and powerful. I've recommended this coffee maker to all my friends and family. If you love fast, great tasting coffee you need this coffee maker!

  • I love this coffee pot. Very easy to use and clean. The coffee is very flavorful. Perfect piece for my kitchen.

  • Since this is a pricey item (at least to me), this warrants a thorough review. While I love espressos, lattes, and cappuccinos from the famous coffee house chain, my experience making them at home is limited. My spouse bought me an espresso machine about 20 years ago which I ended up giving away because it just didn’t work out – it was difficult to use, the instructions were vague, it was hard to assemble and worst of all, hard to clean. That was a long time ago so I thought I’d try again with a new model. A lot has changed over the years! For context, a quick google search of home espresso machines puts the features and pricing all over the map, so you must decide for yourself which features are worth paying for and I’ll try to cover all the high points of this model. Sur La Table is a trusted brand in my household; I have purchased their kitchen items and never been disappointed with their quality or functionality so I had high hopes that I would like this machine. And I do. This espresso maker has many nice bells and whistles for the money- here’s a run-down of the noteworthy features with some pics and a couple videos: • Great instruction manual – this is a must-have for a machine like this. Very thorough instructions (see pics) on assembling, using, and cleaning. • Everything you need is included – a small and large filter, the measuring scoop/tamper with a storage area in the back of the machine (pic included) so you don’t lose the parts. All you need to supply is the coffee - Excellent! • Easy to put together – everything’s labeled well in the manual and makes sense. 😊 • Easy to disassemble and clean – very important to me. No one wants to spend more time cleaning an appliance than using it. ☹ • Large water and milk frother reservoir. You can remove the water reservoir or just open the lid and add water – nice. That’s better than my newer model pod coffee maker that doesn’t have a hinged lid reservoir. • It has a cup warming area – I haven’t used it yet because I keep forgetting but it’s a nice touch! • Digital touchscreen is upscale and easy to read. • The amount of brewed espresso is adjustable - there’s easy instructions to follow to adjust it to your preferred amount and it’s easy to restore factory defaults. • The milk frother is outstanding – much better than the little hand-held ones. It created a wonderful, long-lasting foam from 2% milk. Some observations: • Some side notes on the milk frother: It states you can store the unit’s milk reservoir immediately after use in the fridge for next time. But it also states the cleaning function of the milk frothing system must be used at least once after each use to prevent blockage. Not sure how you can store the milk and still clean the frothing system but I just flush it out and clean it when finished to avoid any bacterial growth. When you make a latte or cappuccino, you don’t get to select (at least I couldn’t find the option but I may be missing something) to add the milk at the end of the brewing cycle, it adds it first. There’s a note on manually controlling the amount of frothed milk – add what you think you will use for your cappuccino or latte (at least to the minimum line) but you can press the small Latte button for more than three seconds to add frothed milk and then press the button again once you have the desired amount. I’ll have to use this a few more times to see if that works to add the steamed milk/froth after using the espresso option. I’m also not sure about the froth control knob – the instructions direct you to turn it to the max position so I haven’t adjusted it to see what it would do when not in the max position. • I didn’t see an option to adjust the water temp. While the brew is hot, I prefer to be able to set the temp as I like my coffee extra hot but it’s not a deal breaker here but worth noting. I’m no barista (as you can probably tell from these videos 😊) but this machine makes it really easy to make impressive espresso beverages at home, even if you don’t use it daily. For me, this is the perfect alternative when I don’t want to leave the house on a cold, snowy morning to get my espresso fix or when I have company. This will get a lot of use around the holidays. Well done, Sur La Table!

  • Poorly made and designed . Plastic dome broke within two months. The seller told me it would be January before I could get a replacement turns out they wanted to send me a whole unit, but I needed to send them $20 and a picture of my old unit with the cord cut!

I have been using pod coffee makers for many years. Good coffee, but expensive, and instantaneous coffee making had me building a six cup a day habit. $22 for a bulk carton of pods, a 2 week supply, was costly and not great for my blood pressure. I purchased the Mr. Coffee Programmable Coffee Maker to make coffee a more deliberate task, and to reduce cost. It takes approx 5 minutes to brew coffee with the Mr. Coffee unit. So, I start coffee while cooking breakfast. The $22 box of pods has been replaced with an $8 - $10 bag of good ground coffee. Consumption has been reduced to 2 cups a day, about what one carafe holds. The $22 box of pods lasted two weeks, the $10 bag last for a month. The flavor and strength of coffee is excellent. The permanent filter slows water flow through the coffee for a more uniform brew, and keep grounds out of a cup. The charcoal filter works well for removing suspended particles from well water. I plan on trying paper filters, in place of the permanent metal and charcoal filters, to see how they effect taste. Paper filters do a better job of removing lipids from brewed coffee, oils that can elevate LDL cholesterol. I like it. Edit: reduced one star, because I have been unable to locate replacement 2" charcoal water filters. Universal fit Mr. Coffee filters are twice the size and do not work. Also unable to get assistance on this issue though company's customer service.

  • Good value for the price. Easy to use. Makes a great cup of coffee. Love the espresso side

    Love it!

  • I make coffee in this at the beginning of every week and it is enough for both my boyfriend and I but the nozzle broke off after 4 months and it’s very sad we love it and now we can’t use it.

  • I have always gone coffee machines that would last only 3 to 5 years. My coffee machine finally broke on me so I wanted something I could take with me. This high borosilicate heat resistant glass coffee maker is just what I needed. My husband and I go on camping trips and stay in hostels that don’t have a way of making MY/our coffee/ hot teas so this is perfect for us. It’s easy to use just make your hot water and pour. Five star and a must buy. Love it!!

  • I recently dealt with a power outage for several days due to a hurricane. I had 3 different types of coffee pots on my counter, and not one was usable! Instant coffee? Yuck! I was reminded of a French Coffee Press by a friend, and immediately ordered one. I love the look of this one with the copper colored metal. Not sure how long the copper will stay pretty but it looks good now. I do not have a coffee grinder, and did not order coffee beans so I tried it out with ground coffee that I had in my pantry. It was amazing. I'm not sure the reason that others struggled with too many grounds in their cup. The coffee I used was actually pretty finely ground, and it didn't have that problem at all. If you're following the process well, it should work like a charm, and you will have a amazing cup of coffee for your efforts. The price is also pretty reasonable. Very pleased with my purchase!

  • Liked: Easy to empty grounds, fill level window, great automatic options & countertop size. Didn’t like: how it pours/if you don’t lift the lid, it’ll dribble all over the place.
