We have been searching for the perfect dual brew coffee maker and THIS is it! We have purchased and returned a few recently after the last dual brew (keurig) just quit working after 15 months! Several things that were just what we needed and this model has: the water reservoir holds enough water that you don't have to fill it every other use or even EVERY use (for k cups). We also like that the reservoir is on the side so we don't have to drag the maker out to refill in the back. The pod brew and carafe brew are in the same spot! This means the maker takes up less space. Most importantly, it makes a great cup! You have many size options as well as choices like classic, rich, and over ice so you get just what you want! We love it!
You can make a variety of beverages in this set up! I currently have cold brew coffee going. Nice glass jar with measurements and a pourable lid. My wide mouth Ball jar lids fit on this too. While this does not come with any instructions there are plenty to be found in a quick interweb search. It comes down to personal preference. You can start with 1 cup of water to 1/4 cup medium to coarse coffee grounds. Don't use hot water, it's called COLD brew. You'll need to dilute it with water and or creamer once it's finished brewing, 10-24 hours. Leave it out while it's brewing and then refrigerate and use within a several days! Enjoy!
The first question I wanted the answer to: Is the coffee better? Yes it is. This machine makes drip coffee as good as any I have had. Is it worth three times more money than a regular coffee brewer? I guess that depends on how much you care about coffee. If you’re like me and you grind your beans right before brewing, this coffee maker will allow you to make pour-over quality gourmet tasting coffee automatically. The ease and convenience of automatic drip coffee with the flavor and body of pour-over coffee is worth the price of entry to me, provided this machine lasts a few years. Why this machine brews better coffee is probably down to its ability to get the water to a high enough temperature. Most drip coffee makers get the water hot enough to make a good cup of coffee, but this thing goes the few extra degrees higher in brewing, and that seems to make all the difference in extracting optimal flavor from the beans. Braun is calling this “ExactBrew” (“calculating the precise water flow, temperature, and speed…”) which may sound like spurious nonsense, but it really, honestly, does make a better pot of coffee. And it does it fast. Aside from ExactBrew, there are other nice features here. The brew selector allows you to make coffee light, medium, or strong. The “light” setting is nonsense, just drink tea. The medium setting is perfect for hot coffee, and the bold/strong setting is great for iced coffee. Turn on the iced coffee setting and the hot plate stays cold. And there’s a setting that bypassing the coffee filter and gives you hot, filtered water. There’s also a dial that allows you to select the amount of coffee you’re brewing. This tells the brew computer how to affect the temperature and flow of water to extract the best flavor based on how much coffee you’re making. This is called the MultiServe dial. This feature will allow you to brew single cups large and small, travel mugs, or a pot. If you use a K-cup machine to brew single cups of coffee-like beverage, you can now toss it. This machine makes a credible single cup of coffee fast. It takes proportionately more coffee to brew a cup than a pot, but it’s still more affordable than buying disposable pods, and the beverage you get is much, much closer to good coffee instead of the swill you get from a Keurig. Oh, and you aren’t filling a landfill somewhere with plastic cups. To me, this one ability – to replace my single serve machine – changes everything. The build quality to me seems excellent, as one would expect from Braun. Everything is tight and polished and beautiful. The illuminated display is very high-end and professional looking. The engineering is also exceptional. For instance, if you engage the brew stop (so you can remove the pot in the middle of brewing), it will actually halt the brewing, so you can take your time. Most coffee makers, if you pull out the pot in the middle, you have about 40 seconds to get it back in place before the filter overflows. Similarly, there’s a sensor that detects when the lid to the filter basket is open, and it will tell you on the display, and pause the brewing. This prevents issues where you forget to close the top, causing the hot water to spurt out onto the counter. There are a lot of thoughtful little touches like this that take this coffee maker to the next level. The engineers at Braun seem to have included everything one would want, but managed to avoid excessive pointless novelties or silly useless features. For me, the only downside is the height of the machine. It comes in slightly over 15” tall. Call it 15 ¼”. My cupboards are 15” high, so I can’t slide the machine under them. But my house is 150 years old; this may not be a problem in your house, as long as your counters are about 15 ½” or more from the cupboards. So, is it worth $150-$200 for this machine? It depends. If you’re particular about your coffee, this will make pour-over quality gourmet coffee with less mess and hassle. If you would like to brew small amounts, like a single mug, as well as large pots, in the same machine, this will do it, and save you the counter space of two separate machines. This is the first drip machine I’ve owned that could really brew a single cup of delicious coffee, and that is a big deal to me. But if you just want to make a pot of coffee and don’t really care if it’s just good coffee instead of excellent coffee, any $40 drip coffee maker can brew a good pot. I’m not wealthy, but I relish my morning coffee and, though I did receive this one from coffeemakers.us.com Vine for free, I would not regret it in any way if I had paid full price for it. It’s easily the best drip coffee maker I’ve had in my long life. A total win for me.
If you do not have space like me this coffee maker was a great price and take very little space. And it works great.
We like Hamilton Beach Coffee Makers and have had a few over the years. But we hadn't had a One Press until now - we love it! It is so convenient. Our large Yeti and Starbucks tumblers fit in the dispenser with plenty of room. The programming is very easy to use and similar to our other Hamilton Beach models. It has a removable water reservoir and then a 12 cup internal brew pot. The new model has a clean, streamlined look to it, looks great on our countertop. The One Press dispenser functionality is a game changer - A Brewed Pot of Coffee with no more carafe or carafe drips mess!
Arriving late and broken
I love this machine. I especially love the design; it looks different. The only reason I don’t give it 5 stars is because it has two issues that can be annoying at times. First the machine drips after using it (so you have to leave your cup on the tray and wait) or your constantly washing the drip tray. Second I use the Nescafé pods. After making my coffee the pod gets stuck and it’s not so easy to remove and you have to pay attention to the rubber gasket that constantly falls out with the pod. I actually threw it away once because it stay connected to the pod itself and I didn’t notice. So when I made the next cup of coffee it was a disaster. You need that gasket in place to make your coffee. Maybe the manufacturer will upgrade this machine and make it greater in the future.
How would you like to clean this up before coffee! Horrible mess
I love it. I use it all day long
Coming from the much older Keurig this is a really nice upgrade in quality and performance. Love the Brew ID and also being able to make custom settings. Very nice looking unit thats much smaller than previous yet works 10x better with more features. Very happy with purchase and would definitely recommend.
(This machine is Stainless on the outside, but black plastic on the inside unfortunately.) Everything has gotten so expensive, I have been finding ways to reduce our expenses. With this coffee maker, we only need to use half the ground coffee our old machine used, and with the Bold option, we actually get MORE flavor than before. we also love the option of stealing a cup while the coffee is brewing, but dont expect that cup to be very hot if you steal it too early in the process. The coffee is hotter when the brewing cycle completes, at which time it chimes Complete. This machine makes truly delicious coffee if you allow for its quirks, but if you overfill the cone with coffee grounds, its just one big mess. This is my second machine of this model….so, my advice, Get rid of the reusable filter. It does not hold enough ground coffee to brew anything other than a cup of water. We Use a large Bunn paper filter. It holds a lot of coffee. Leave about an inch of space or more from the top to keep the brew cycle from overflowing. If you like a good strong brew, always select the Bold option and dont make more than 8 cups at a time. We tried a pot without Bold on, and it was just water. no flavor. The programmable feature is so easy to use, I didnt even need the instructions.. Set the clock. Then program the time you would like the coffee to be ready. It is a wonderful feature. And the best thing about this fantastic carafe is that the coffee stays fresh and hot for hours if you leave the carafe in the machine. The carafe is well built. You dont even have to turn the lid to pour a cup, but I pour the first cup over the sink. Its drippy if you pour soon after brewing. And we love being able to steal a cup mid-brew. We always rinse the lid, carafe and black cone after use, to keep them clear of grounds. It is a lot of work, and I will not buy another one when this one dies…too much mess and maintenance. Important Note: We used Seattles Best in our old coffee maker for four years. But it had no flavor in this machine. Then I remembered we always have to change coffees when we change coffee makers. The best coffee We have found so far for this machine is Starbucks medium or blonde roasts. Target almost always seems to have coffee on sale. We found Starbucks on sale there and stocked up. More than once a week we use a clean moist cloth to wipe out the cone base. It tends to collect grounds, especially if the filter is too full. Special Note: Soon after we bought this machine, my husband awoke one morning, and while still half asleep, stole a cup of coffee while it was brewing. In his groggy state, he neglected to return the pot to the machine, so hot coffee ran down the white cabinet, over the white drawers, down the white baseboard of our freshly painted, just completed kitchen. The entire front of all of it is now stained brown from coffee. 😵💫
As u can see from picture my Wacaco portfolio continues to grow. Great design mostly overall. I use Wacaco products for backcountry canoe trips. Drink hole- this falls short. It’s size and placement can mean your first sips are a mouth burner…tilt…tilt… woooossshhh comes the hot drink all the sudden… I’ve only brewed a couple cups as of now; takes about 5 minutes…slow filtering Overall very happy with this and all my Wacaco items…will get many happy starts to my day with these Expensive…it is expensive.
Love ❤ this little machine it makes the best coffee ☕ 😋 I ever had and I had a bunch of Keurig machines and non of them really made best coffee ☕ except when they first came out 15yrs ago 😀 which this machine reminded me and this one is better then the one I used to have also now I have more room under my kitchen cabinets try this machine you can't beat the price and it takes every kcup and own coffee grinds which comes with 3 different inserts for kcups , ground coffee and tea 🍵 awesome 👌 will buy again and the price is right ✅
I’m sure they’re great, but What I really dislike is ordering something and getting a used/ returned one.
