  • I liked the design of this and thought it was a bonus that it had a water filter in the bottom of the tank. However, the design is such that the water is not forced to flow through the filter, but instead much of the water from the tank can pass through the slots in the filter basket and under the actual filter. I called HB Customer Support and waited for 40 minutes to get an agent. She said that it is supposed to work this way and that the water passing near the filter will have the chlorine taste taken out. I've gotta say this would surprise me. But even if that were true, the holder that you snap the basket into is so loose that the filter assembly just floats to the top. The CS person at HB told me that I am not doing it right, I have to turn until it is snug. So I told her no matter how much I turn it, at no position does it hold - she said "I have one in front of me and that is how it works". I told her mine does not hold, but apparently that did not compute. So I would rate HB's customer service as poor! Having said all the above, I think I may keep it because with the grounds basket and the bold setting on 8 ounces, it produced a fine cup of coffee. I like the design and the ease of removing all of the components to keep it clean. So I guess I will just go to filling the tank from my filtered fridge water, which I was hoping to avoid.

  • We bought three of this item for our family and friends. However, the fact that the goods were quite light in weight and poorly constructed was instantly apparent to us. Then we saw rust and scrapes. We contrasted it with our long-standing Secura French Press. This item weighs around 200g less than Secura, and the thinness of the material is apparent. We made the decision to return everything and substitute Secura French presses. Although the Secura is more expensive, we are aware that they provide long-lasting satisfaction.

  • A good size, comes with a bottle brush & seems very durable/thick. The top of the jar seems ideal & to lock great to avoid any leaks.

I love coffee so much that I roast it at home but due to some changing circumstances, I just don't always have time to make a pour-over and I thought this coffee maker would give me good consistent results. I used to use a grind and brew that made ok coffee by Cuisinart but it lasted a solid 7 years of intermittent use. It was becoming buggy so time to replace it. I was not wrong. This coffee maker makes great coffee. Consistently. Huge props to Bonavita too for standing behind their products! If you are taking the time to read these reviews, you know this is a great coffee maker. Gold cup and all that stuff is legitimate. Bonavita has been around for a long time, and it is a well known brand in coffee circles. So why only 3 stars? The coffee carafe is awful. If you want to pour without the lid, it will spill. Fine, I will screw on the lid. The worst part, however, was that after less than 6 months, the internal seal started leaking into the vacuum cavity. I filled out the warranty form on the Bonavita website, received a response within a week, and a new thermal carafe shortly after. Awesome! Right around the same time, the coffee maker stopped its cycle half-way. It would complete it after I restarted it. I read some of the reviews stating the same before buying it but quickly dismissed them thinking it was user error. I thought everyone that was complaining about the coffee maker stopping half way were experiencing this issue because they were not descaling. Descale, descale, descale. Got it. When I started experiencing the same issue, I started worrying because I descale religiously. Another warranty form fill, another quick response, and a replacement unit shortly after. Great! What isn't great is that I don't know how long this will last and getting a new coffee maker through a warranty form seems like this is not what I was hoping it is. I took the coffee maker apart and didn't see anything too worrisome with the exception of one thing. Although I'm not a huge fan of the plastic at the bottom of the heating element, that's not it. I didn't see any rust or anything leading to believe there was a leak somewhere either. What is worrisome is that the control board was overheating in some areas. I can only guess that the temperature might have fried the relay. Nothing else looks "bad" per se. I am hoping this is just a QC issue and won't have to fill out another warranty form.

  • I love this little French press. I love that it’s glass and very light and compact. I use it to brew chai every morning. It’s so amazing! I love freshly brew chai and this little French press makes it really easy. I just add my looseleaf chai And hot water and let it steep and then hot milk. It bruised the perfect cup. I love you can use this for more than coffee.

  • This is what happened the very first time I used it. And no, it's not user error, it's this shoddy product. Do not buy

I am a huge lover of coffee, but my husband doesn’t drink & so having a giant coffee pot isn’t the most practical. I love having the small pot, so I can make myself a single cup of coffee at a time. This is my first time getting a coffee pot from black+decker & so far I have absolutely no complaints about it

    It’s a good buy

  • This is a decent and basic coffee maker for the no-frills type of brewer. It performs well, takes less than ten minutes to brew 12 cups, and is simple enough to clean. I did find there is some inconsistency with the interior water line gauge and the coffee pot's markings which does bug me and I wish they matched. For example, if you fill to the interior water line gauge for 12 cups and brew, the end result will be about 1/5th inch above the 12 cup line on the carafe. It isn't the end of the world, but I have never had this problem before with any other coffee maker. I also don't like that the 12 cup line inside the coffee maker rests just under the air holes on the back of the unit, so any jostling when completely full (or overfilling) could result in a mess. It is important to note there is no see-through window on the side of the unit with water gauge lines to help you know how much water to put in, and you can only see it from the back center of the unit inside. The cord is extremely short on this coffee maker. I forgot to measure it, but I believe it is at most 2 feet. Make sure that wherever you want to have this coffee maker has close access to an outlet. Upon arrival, this unit does need to be cleaned out. The manual says there will be a smell to the unit and it might emit smoke upon the first few brews. The smell is very disgusting and reminded me of durian, and was extremely off-putting. I chose to add vinegar to help remove the smell faster, but it does make me question just why it would smell so bad in the first place.

  • Braun is a great company with a reputation for making excellent products, so I was excited to try this. I love coffee, and I typically drink 3 cups (large mugs) a day. I was pretty overwhelmed by this machine, if I'm being honest, and it is definitely, absolutely for the type of person who wants ALL the bells and whistles. It's nice, for sure, but I'm still not entirely sure how to use it. It really just depends on what you want in a coffee maker - if you want to make a cup of coffee at a precise strength and temperature, then this is the machine for you. Just keep the manual handy.

I wanted this machine to work but it was a total disaster

  • I absolutely love my new espresso machine. We had bought a cheaper one (sowtech, for $60 ish) and it was horrible. Returned that one and decided to invest a little more..and voila! I get to make matcha 🍵 lattes and cappuccinos at home. Super easy to use and very fast too! Highly recommend.

  • I was sent a used machine. Disappointed and will return

  • So my coffee machine broke down this past Saturday and I’ve been struggling with instant and reheated coffee that most people don’t mind but for me just doesn’t cut it, so while I’m waiting for my new model ninja coffee maker to come in I figured I’d try something that would be more efficient and not ever really have problems with for any reason, that’s when I stumbled upon this gem! Tried it as soon as I got home from work this evening with my deathwish coffee and needless to say I’m hooked! Bought this with the intention of being my backup system but honestly think my ninja might end up being a backup system instead! Absolutely in love with pourover system and will recommend it to any and everyone, my mind was opened to a whole new world today! Thank you Asobu for the amazing product, you have changed my outlook on coffee and coffee systems forever!
