Great quality jar and cold brew filter. Some don’t reach the bottom of the jar but this one does ensuring all the grounds get used which is great. It comes with a cleaning brush which is very helpful for getting to the bottom of both the filter and the jar. The flip top lid closes fine but doesn’t really “seal” so I wouldn’t shake the jar or anything but that’s okay, usually you don’t need to. The pink color is very pretty too!
So this is my 4th coffee maker in the span of 2 years. Im slightly clumsy and manage to crack 2 glass coffee pots. After the second I splurged on a coffee maker that didn't have a pot. After a couple months it started acting funny in the form of turning on by itself, making multiple been noises, and then not brewing at all. I found this coffee pot on sale and to say the least I am very impressed. It has a cleaning function with very clear instructions on cleaning. It has a clock to set future brew. And my favorite part is that it doesn't have a hot plate. I hate hot plates. They always get burnt coffee and burn the coffee. The coffee is brewed hot and kept hot from the thermal insulation. I brewed coffee at 10am this morning. I left and forgot to dump the pot. It is now 8:20 pm and I just dumped out coffee that was hot enough I could of put sugar in and drank it still. So very very please and hopefully it stands the rest of time.
I don't want to return it because it still works but just to let you know I'm not happy with the lid that why I only gave it a three on easy to use. Otherwise everything else works and coffee was great.
I waited near the front door for this item. Unfortunately the package was "lost" in transit so coffeemakers.us.com sent out a replacement. That means I waited 9 days for this to come. Now it is here and I am IN LOVE with it. Beautiful! Easy to use! I live alone....no visitors....self-employed....so I used to hold a sieve lined with a coffee filter and a scoop of grounds over a cup to make each individual cup of coffee. I don't want a big unit that is hard to clean cluttering up my counter. You just pour 14 oz of water into the reservoir, put a heaping tblsp of coffee grounds into the permanent easy to clean filter, turn it on....wait for it to stop dripping, turn it off and unplug it. I am super thrilled I found this. I have been promoting it on facebook all day. Perfect if you are at work, too.
We bought this coffee pot two years ago. Its always worked fairly well. Nothing too fancy. I've noticed occasionally that it would leak at the bottom but wasn't sure where it was coming from and never thought it was too much of a big deal. Until today, I noticed a leak again and when I went to clean it up the was was rust colored. I lifted it up and realized that the whole bottom has rusted. I don't know if this will cause issues with brewing, quality of coffee, or a health or fire hazard. I just wished I had taken the leak more seriously at the beginning to maybe have gotten a refund or a replacement.
This machine is a great bean grinder that you can run water through. HOWEVER, IF YOU WANT A HOT CUP OF COFFEE, save your money and buy a bean grinder for $18 and a kettle. This coffee maker has a DESIGN FLAW because it has a faulty internal heating element and no base/carafe warmer. Any buyer should have a reasonable expectation that the coffee machine they are purchasing heats the water that then makes the coffee. This coffee maker does not. See manual photos where Breville repeatedly writes, "Pre-heat the carafe or cup for best results. A pre-heated carafe or cup will help maintain the coffee's optimal temperature and help keep coffee hotter for longer." You are reading correctly. The temperature of the coffee is dependent upon the temperature of the water YOU PUT into 1) the carafe (or cup) to warm it up and 2) the temperature of the water YOU PUT into the coffee maker's water tank. You quickly discover that this completely defeats the "programmable" feature, the expensive feature you are paying for, and all hope of coffee that isn't lukewarm. To be clear, there is a light on the easy-to-read LED screen that reads, "Pre-Heating," but the water has never risen above 138 F (far below the 'optimal brewing temperature of 194-203 F" listed on Breville's own "Tips and Techniques" package insert). Moreover, there is no way to access this pre-heating element to adjust it upward. Moreover, the stand or drip tray is a piece of plastic: NO heating or warming element here either. Once again, your coffee temp is limited to the temperature of the water you put in. Let's talk about the carafe; it is unusually heavy while still not holding any temperature. It cannot be "warmed" once the coffee has brewed, and it requires a funnel (not included) to pour all of the water out of the blunt-angle carafe lip into the very narrow 'flip-top' lid leading to the water tank. The adjustable burr grinder and strength dial are amazing and the reason I was sold on the machine. However, these features are useless because the machine is only capable of putting out lukewarm coffee even AFTER you spend the suggested "30 seconds" warming up the carafe or cup and then filling the water tank. After working with this new machine for over a month because I was convinced the water temperature issue was my fault (so I am past all return options). I finally called customer service to complain about the lukewarm coffee that this machine consistently makes. The Breville agent told me, "The machine specs do not list any heating element," and it was my fault for not deducing this before I bought the coffee maker.
Either the model has very tiny hands, or they are using misleading photos.
Brews great coffee when it works. Unfortunately, we started getting "Sorry, brew interrupted" after a month of use. I performed all of the troubleshooting, needle maintenance, etc., to no avail. Worked with tech support and had to repeat all troubleshooting steps, but the problem persisted. They sent me a replacement and recommended that we only use bottled water (even though I have a whole-home carbon filter and use the included in-tank filter). Replacement unit arrived and worked great for about three weeks. Now the problem is back. I don't want to spend the time with tech support again, but it looks like I have no choice. This is very disappointing.
Absolutely my favorite coffee maker. Good flavor, fresh ground beans, amazing frother on side. I now have one amazing cup of coffee every morning.
This BKSP1 (black stainless appearance) 14-cup coffeemaker replaced a 12+ year old Cuisinart 12-cup unit we used until it finally quit working. Great coffeemaker and it produced great coffee. My research to replace the old unit settled on the BKSP1 model and coffeemakers.us.com delivered straight-a-way. I got it all cleansed out, programmed and set up for begin brewing at 4:45 the next morning. It brewed a great pot of coffee and all worked wonderfully ... EXCEPT that the clock on the BKSP1 was running FAST. It had "gained" almost an hour since I had set it up the day before. Thus the coffee was actually brewed at ~3:45AM. I reset the clock and kept watching it as I would walk by the coffeemaker and noted that it was gaining time or running FAST. I went through this for several days and finally sent a message to coffeemakers.us.com C.S. and they immediately replaced with another BKSP1 and I returned the original unit. I went through the setup process with the #2 BKSP1 and was hopeful that the clock would keep proper time ... however it did not. The clock on the #2 BKSP1 also ran FAST. The coffeemaker worked just fine in all regards ... save for the clock running FAST. So, I reached out to Cuisinart/Conair C.S. with this "fast clock" issue and they replaced the #2 BKSP1 with the #3 BKSP1. I did all the setup with #3 and lo & behold ... the clock on the #3 BKSP1 also runs FAST. All other elements work just fine, brews great coffee, but the clock just has a mind of it's own. So (you can guess what is next), I reached out to Cuisinart/Conair C.S. (again) with the fast clock issue noted in graf above. A ticket was established and I was shipped a #4 BKSP1 to replace the #3 unit. Can you see where this is going? The #4 BKSP1 unit was set up and put into service and the clock on #4 also runs FAST. So ... it appears that there is something common going on with the BKSP1 model units. This time I called Cuisinart/Conair C.S. (I had been establishing all other tickets via the inter-web and e-mail). The lady with C.S. was simply excellent and she noted my BKSP1 ticket history and said she would have another unit shipped out straight-a-way. She asked if I still wanted the same BKSP1 model or would I want to get the SP1 model (SP1 is the brushed stainless appearance). I figured what the heck ... I would get the SP1 this time. In a couple days I received the #5 SP1, got it all set up and ready to brew coffee the next morning at 4:45. I would glance at the clock on the #5 SP1 as I walked by the unit and the clock was ACCURATE. I was again hopeful that the clock would hold and keep proper time. At 4:45AM the brew cycle started and it actually was at 4:45AM. The clock held it's accuracy for one day at that point. It has now been 3-days and the clock on the #5 SP1 is "spot on". So (there is the 'so' word again) I noted on the boxes the coffeemakers were shipped in had the countries of manufacture stamped on them. The BKSP1 units were all manufactured in China. The SP1 unit was manufactured in Indonesia. AHA - I said. There is a manufacturing plant issue going on. I did an extensive observation letter to Cuisinart/Conair about my situation and thoughts of what is going on. BTW - In addition the BKSP1 units all dripped extensive moisture droplets down the back side of the unit when the top lid was opened to removed the coffee grounds. This had me wondering if there was a leak as there was water all over the counter under the BKSP1 units. Turns out the drip lip on the upper back of the BKSP1 appears to be 'flat' without adequate slope to have the water droplets flow back into the reservoir. Also the drip lip is not as deep as what I noticed on the SP1 units. I also observed (on both the BKSP1 and SP1 models) that there is a lot of moisture condensation that collects on the upper front panel where the control buttons are located. To me this could affect the electronics that I'm guessing is located near or behind this panel. Ergo couple items of note for Cuisinart/Conair: 1) Production molds for the BKSP1 and SP1 are NOT the same between the China and Indonesia manufacturing plants. Thus the drip lip issue noted above. 2) The chips/electronics being used in the China plant for the BKSP1 are defective and can't keep proper time. All-in-all ... The Cuisinart 14-cup coffeemaker is an excellent product and works very well and produces great coffee. Save for the units (in my case) that are manufactured in China where the chips/electronics they are using just don't work. Adding to that the manufacturing mold difference that slightly changes the size of the drip lip on the upper back. I would suggest getting the the SP1 model and keep your fingers crossed that it is also manufactured in Indonesia as opposed to China. At least until such time as changes are made in the manufacturing facility in China to correct the noted issues. Cheers, Nolan K.
I was excited to find this percolator since I was looking for a coffee making option without the coffee being in contact with plastic or aluminum. I grind my own coffee beans and have to be sure to not grind it courser than when using a drip coffee maker, but the flavor is very good when using good quality coffee. The fact that it doesn’t have a light to tell you when it’s done percolating is a non-issue because unless a person is hearing impaired you can easily hear when it’s done. My biggest concern with this percolator, and it’s a great concern, is that the lid that covers the ground coffee has an oval opening that is EXTREMELY sharp and jagged, and it sliced my thumb right open while I was cleaning it the first week of use. It was a decently deep cut that hurt for a week. I’m attaching photos, and the one shows my thumb after it had already healed for days. This is just unacceptable and a liability for the manufacturer.
Easy to use, good for make coffee in cup and go. Need little bit more coffee add than just in cup with hot water
Purchase one for my wife and I in 2016 and for my daughter and son-in-law in 2018 . Both are doing well . Coffee maker has performed excellently for 8 years now still gives a good hot fresh cup of coffee. Make sure you replace the filter and suggested.
It arrived in good shape. A 8-12 cup flat bottom basket filter fits nicely. No marks or dents and each piece fits well into each other. Update: After making a pot I was seriously disappointed. The water runs through so fast that the finished product is super weak. I mean light brown coffee weak! I'm returning this. I was hoping it would work out but even my wife, who likes weak coffee said it looked like dirty water and could barely taste the coffee. My advice, buy a used American made one on a market place site.
I gave it four stars because there were small rips or tears in the mesh. I also realized in the instructions it says to keep at room temperature for 24 hrs but on coffeemakers.us.com it says keep refrigerated for the 24 hrs.
