It seems okay for the money but definitely cheaply made. I barely brushed the pot into my metal sink and the glass shattered. I wish I’d spent more on a little better quality.

  • For the price it’s a decent French press. The design seems to lack some ergonomics. However, it is also an interesting handle and matches stainless appliances. If you can see in the picture, there’s white plastic on the interior of the lid. The plunger seems sturdy enough. Also came with an extra screen.

  • I really wanted to like this coffee maker. My husband is the only one in our household that drinks coffee, and I’m always on the hunt to find the perfect small coffee maker with an “attached” grinder, need to say is hard thing to accomplish! This is perfect size and it grinds the coffee beans 🫘 but when is time to “decanter” coffee starts pouring everywhere! Behind the coffee machine, on the front on the sides everywhere! Everyday I need to clean the coffee maker and everyday it gets nasty at soon my husband makes his morning coffee. Do not bother trying it, whiting days of being open this starting to happen. Now I’m in the search for another coffee maker!

    Maravilloso es muy hermoso

  • When I moved to Oakland five years ago and didn't drink coffee, I thought all these coffee snobs were just giant douches. I mean, it's *just* a cup of coffee. Well, I popped out another kid and coffee is now my morning life blood. Bay Area culture seeps into your taste buds and elevates your palate to whole new levels, thus creating more douchery for which I now ironicly carry a badge. I currently own your standard auto drip coffee maker from my cheaper-than-Foldgers days, one of those Italian stove stop espresso makers, and I've broken not one but TWO Bodum french presses. Oh yes, and I have equipment for pour overs (DCHE: +3EXP). OH WAIT! And I own an Aeropress (my badge now flashes neon lights in a hypnotic, swirling pattern - a beacon of absolute coffee douchitude). I need two cups of coffee to be a decent human being, and when you're trying to get three kids out the door, fussing with the Aeropress is no bueno - especially if your partner wants a cup of coffee too. Enter the need for a french press. Except we have three kids and I'm hella clumsy so that hasn't worked out so well for us. Act II: The Coffee Gator gracefully waltzes onto the stage I call "my counter". I ordered it because it won't shatter, isn't shiny and prone to fingerprints, plus it promises to keep my coffee warmer by 32 minutes. I really didn't order it expecting a better cup of coffee than my standard french press but OMFG - it delivers. For real, even the hubs agrees that this morning we ended up with the best cup of coffee ever tasted in this house. I can't follow the directions to a tee every time (scrap foam after 4 min then let it set a few more minutes - uh, not when you've got three kids who leave the house at different times and you need to put a bra on before the landlord comes over to fix your bathtub at 9am). So if you do not follow the directions perfectly, you'll still get a great strong AF cup of joe in the morning that will make other people think you're a little too enthusiastic about ...everything... but if you can actually follow the directions (like, on a leisurely Saturday morning), your palate will be enchanted with the smooth deliciousness that is the product of Coffee Gator. Also, I have no idea what the point of the little glass jar is - it looks like it could handle at most 4 T. of coffee and seems better suited to store your marijuana (that is, if you live in California, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, or any other state with legal weed). But, hey - who am I look a gift stash jar in the bottle?

  • Update. I have now had this coffee brewer for almost 7 years and it is awesome. We drink a lot of coffee in my home, maybe 2-3 pots a day (my wife and I both take a thermos to work). I haven’t had to replace any parts on this brewer. It’s very heavy duty. I highly recommend this brewer if you drink a lot of coffee and you don’t want to wait 20 minutes for a pot to brew. Also, if you can’t stand the taste of plastic, this is a great option because nearly every part is made of metal. All the parts are replaceable so it should last forever. ————————————————— Original review October 2018. I was gifted this coffee brewer which was purchased from a local restaurant supplies store. Other than the plastic funnel, the brewer seems high quality and heavy duty. I replaced the plastic funnel with a stainless steel one...which wasn’t really necessary but a nice upgrade none the less. The brewer is larger than the typical consumer-grade coffee brewer, but still small enough to tuck underneath my cabinets. If you keep it plugged in all the time, it keeps the tank of water hot and therefore uses electricity even when not brewing. However, because it always has a hot tank of water ready to go, it brews a pot of coffee wicked fast. Overall...so far so good.

  • Third time using this, and I love it!! It’s easy to use and makes my cold brew so creamy. It makes the experience of drinking cold brew much more enjoyable, gourmet, and fun! This is an item that keeps on giving and saves me trips to my local coffee spot. Love that I can go without cream or sugar but still tastes so smooth and the nitrogen makes it surprisingly sweet. It makes for such a refreshing bevy. Definitely recommend this product!!

I have been roasting my own coffee beans for the last 4 years. I really preferred pour over coffee over anything until I found this Moccamaster. Does a great job and is good as my previous pour over without standing over the funnel and adding water to make a cup of coffee. The brewing temperature is spot on. In 6 to 8 minutes I have 10 cups. The brewing speed is fantastic. Yes the price tag is high but worth it considering the Warranty and quality build. I did purchase a used unit at a much lower price and was surprised that it was never used. All the packaging was undisturbed. Someone must have had buyers remorse due to the price tag. Thank you whoever returned it. If you use Maxwell House or Folgers don’t waste your money. This coffee machine is for GOOD COFFEE. The fresher the coffee the better. That is why I roast my own beans. Very simple to do with a coffee roaster. You might consider getting one and you can get green beans from online stores like Burman Coffee. Try coffee from all over the world and roast it from light to espresso. You won’t regret it with this Moccamaster.

See photo...It won't let me do any programming or anything. It's broke. I do not recommend this brand.

  • I was excited for this product when it came but as soon as I opened the box I saw broken pieces.

  • Everything that was described about this product is true. I love it. Keeps my coffee hot enough to continue drinking at a later time. I can’t say enough good things about it. Easy to clean and use

There is no short supply of options when it comes to coffeemakers, so I know that it can be difficult for any particular model to separate itself from the crowd. I cannot really say how good other comparable coffeemakers are, but I can say that this one gets the job done. I really like that it has a sleek design, it fits in well in what is otherwise a limited and crowded shelf space, and this is an important feature for me. I am not used to using the V-shaped coffee filter, but this one comes with a built-in filter so you do not need to buy additional disposable ones (will revisit this later). It is easy to set up, easy to clean, and while I do not use the programmable timing options, I appreciate that they are there. This does a good job of handling its responsibility of brewing you some coffee. The cover to the water container is removable, which I suppose allows for more angles to pour water from (though I would have preferred for the cover to be set on hinges, so it does not have to detach from the body, but in the end there are pros and cons to either design). That being said, I do have a couple complaints. For my tastes, this machine does not brew an adequately strong cup of coffee. The amount of coffee I use in my older 5-cup coffeemaker will not brew at the same strength in this model. It does have a cool feature where if you hit the little coffee bean button on the interface, it will brew the coffee stronger, but I still found the coffee a bit weak. We bought some V-shaped filters to use in addition to the built in filter as we thought the extra filter might slow down the process just enough for the brew to pick up more strength. I am not really sure if that worked to be honest... if it did, it did so nominally. Part of this is that we are still learning to get our ratios right on this machine, so I am sure we will eventually figure out the right amount, but at minimum I can say that it does require more coffee than my older model to achieve the same strength. It could be a feature of the V-shaped coffee filter design (my other model uses cup-shaped coffee filters), but I am not sure. My other complaint is that for my tastes, the coffee could be a bit hotter after brewing. That is not to say that it does not brew a hot cup of coffee, it does, its just that I am used to my previous coffeemaker that delivers it piping hot. But with this being said, I still like the coffeemaker. I think a lot of my hang ups have to do with getting to know a new model, and relearning the ratios in order to brew a cup that I enjoy. It has made good cups of coffee, its just now a matter of learning the water to coffee ground ratios needed to repeat it on a daily basis. I like having a 10-cup coffeemaker, and for larger gatherings its been a God-send. For now, we have been sticking to the 5-cup model for our personal cups, and the 10-cup model for parties, but that will change once we figure out how to make a good cup consistently. So in short, If you take the time to learn how to use the machine and get your ratios right, this is likely going to work well for you.

  • Since the lid won't stay open, you can stick the handle of the measuring spoon into the crack, and it will hold the lid up while you add water and coffee. Other than the lid problem, the coffee maker seems to work well.

  • The bag has the correct dimensions to fit a standard coffee machine, and I can use it to cover other appliances. The quality is good, and the bag is easy to use. The cover is only to be placed on top of the appliance; it does not have a bottom and cannot be carried; it is just a cover. My reason for removing one star is that the color of the print has a lot of orange, and it does not look as pretty as the advertisement.

I purchased this coffee machine because the previous one I had always gave the coffee a burnt flavor. This one does not. It is affordable, lasts long (I've had one at work for the longest time), and is easy to program. It has a clock, an on button, a button to adjust the strength of the coffee, and a button to program for the time you set it at.
