It’s compact and heats pretty quickly. Makes an ok cup of coffee. Bummer is how long it drips afterwards and the fact that it has no serviceable catch basin that most Keurigs have. Leaves a mess.
This is a COLD BREW MAKER, y'all. Even though the description says it can handle high temps up to 220°F, it's really only intended for COLD liquid only. If you are boiling hot water and then chilling it in this, you are defeating the entire purpose of the cold brew maker. Coffee or tea goes in the filter, you pour cold water over top, steep for 12-24+ hours depending on how strong you like it, remove filter, add water to fill and VOILA!! I have used this thing numerous times already. The glass and lid are sturdy as hell and I don't know how you are managing to shatter it. Also super easy to clean. 10/10
Flimsy pot. Broke after 2 months. Very disappointed.
One year update: well, this Keurig is about done. I have hard water, but I have cleaned the machine every couple of months; regardless, either the water or some mechanical failure has ruined this machine. It no longer makes good coffee. It frequently will make 1 cup of coffee even when the selection is 6 or 8. And the coffee is barely warm, never hot. I considered contacting Keurig but they will probably offer me a discount on another overpriced Keurig, so I am going to punt this unit into the trash and get something more reliable. It was good while it lasted. Original review A few years ago I bought one of the K-cup machines but since I brew 6 cups as often as one, it meant having two coffee makers on hand. Then I came across this machine. It is very well engineered and designed. It has a really good water tank and detaches for filling so no more awkward pouring water into a narrow opening. The water tank can be moved to either side or the back; brilliant! Really helps you fit the machine into your kitchen space. It brews a pot from 6 cups to 12 cups and it tastes great. No boiling plate, the pot is insulated and keeps the coffee hot for plenty of time without altering the flavor. It makes a K-cup that can be adjusted for 6-12 oz. The filter basket and tray are easy to remove and clean. It has an option to brew the coffee a little stronger and an automatic timer. This is really all the way around the best solution for coffee. If there are any shortcomings, I will update this review but so far I don't see any. Again, so impressed with the design of this machine, I would love to shake the hands of the design team.
This product makes good coffee (I use the ground coffee filter incl.) have yet to use the K-cup one. Love it! on a downside wish only that the reservoir for the water held more water at one time. other than pour water EACH time you use it!
The design and manufacture of these Chemex 10 cup carafes is substandard and of inferior quality. I purchased two of the 10 cup Chemex carafes; The first on June 17, 2016 and the second on September 15, 2016. They both initially cracked on the upper spout portion of the carafe and then completely broke off that portion of the glass. The first carafe life span was three months and the second carafe life span was four months. The initial cracks and subsequent breakage of these carafes is not from "accidents" but from the utilization of inferior glass and poor manufacturing. I did not write a product review after the first carafe cracked and broke off because I was not certain of the cause. Now I am certain that the breakage was/is not due to rough handling or "accidents". This is a poor product made from inferior material and with inferior workmanship. The inferior quality "glass" utilized in the manufacturing of these carafes can not and does not tolerate the repeated hot water contact during the daily process of brewing coffee. Eventually the poor quality glass "cracks" under the stress of repeated hot water contact. No pun intended. At this rate I will require four of these 10-cup Chemex carafes every year at a total price $180.00 just to make my daily morning coffee!
This makes approx 12 oz of coffee when filled to the 14 oz brim. You lose about 1-2 oz of coffee when done brewing because the remaining water gets trapped under the filter chamber (see pic). The last 2 oz contains the filtered silt so you don't want to drink it anyway (but if you don't care, you can pull out the plunger and pour the remaining out). There is a minuscule amount of silt present in my cup when I pour out all the coffee I easily can (minus the water under the filter chamber) from the press. I grind my coffee with a commandante c40, and while I personally don't mind the silt, this is just gonna happen if you grind your beans at home. If you use preground store-bought coffee, I doubt silt will be as much of an issue though. The American press makes a smooth, full bodied cup. You can also use it a french press by just putting coffee directly in the press, pour hot water in, and plunge the filter chamber directly over the grounds. I do this sometimes when I'm lazy and don't want to baby the coffee or sit there pressing for two minutes. I like the heat retention of the plastic and double walls. The construction is top notch and the press is a lot heavier than I expected. I do wish they come out with a bigger press one day because 12 oz is an awkward size and kinda annoying when you are making coffee for more than one person.
The mesh on this French press is good enough that I don’t have to use another filter with it. This size makes a good single cup per use for me. I found it very easy and kinda fun to clean. I soaked for 5 mins for my preferred strength with that store stuff. Next time the power goes out, I can boil water on the gas grill burner and French press my coffee. Ima be the most popular lady on the block lol. I’d def recommend this French press. What if u lose power and want a hot cup of coffee to start ur long sweaty day of unpaid yard work?! God bless u!
I cannot believe I have been drinking bad coffee from kuerig machines & regular coffee pots my whole adult life. This machine blows them away. It is delish! The way a cup of coffee should be & in the super convenient automated machine. I am taking care to maintain per the instructions so we don't end up w a gummed up machine like our last 3 kuerigs that konked out on us. I look forward to my coffee every day. This machine is easy to figure out and easy to maintain and works just the way it should. It's a little on the big side so I couldn't fit it in the nook where I have the kuerig. But I improvised & you should too! Read the manual through before getting started.
Edited to add: I contacted the manufacturer directly and they were extremely friendly & helpful. They sent me a replacement which I really appreciate.. ********* I loved it, but it is extremely lightly made and didn't hold up. I'm the only one that uses it and am very careful with handling. Not pleased some of the Tiny wires around the top had sloghed off, I'm hoping I didn't ingest them in my drinks. I'd like to get it replaced, but it's just past the return window. Not sure if it is an occasional manufacturing mistake or they are all like this. But be aware, they may not last as long as you'd think for the price. And again, I'm concerned about the dislodged tiny wire fragments.
I'm just amazed about this coffee maker, reasonable price and coffee taste good
Nice simple coffee maker I can bring to work and make a cup when I need coffee. Everything works well so far, although sometimes while sputtering at the end of a brew the wet coffee grounds can splash up to the lid of the brewing area and the instructions made me worry it might clog the piping if grounds ever got pulled into the water tank. No issues so far though after weeks of usage, and it does make a nice hot cup of coffee each time. Easy to use and lightweight. The insulated coffee mug is a fun addition and I find myself using it even when I'm not brewing coffee with the machine, to keep tea hot or travel with. The rubber stopper works very well to prevent spills and makes it nice to use for travel. My only criticism of the mug is I have to use a bottle cleaner wand to clean inside since the interior diameter is pretty tight, and my big hands can't fit down to the bottom with a sponge to clean lol.
Do not buy this!!!!! I found shards of the mesh floating in my drink. I believe this item should be recalled, and pay close attention to how jagged the mesh screen is and the small hair light short pieces breaking off into my drink. This should not be allowed to be purchased.
This is a great machine, We finally found a machine that will grind and brew all in one. The problem after a week or two of using it it started making light coffee very weak. Didn’t matter if it was a cup or craft , We tried every setting change from bold to gold, course to fine ground and endless resets and cleaning , I think we have a lemon.. GE Cafe tech line was awful and not helpful at all with solving the problem. We finally decided to send it back as defective.
This instant coffee maker came well packaged. I like the exterior box as a great image of the item as well as all the instructions on how to use it. Inside the box, you find a USB charger cable that can plug into the wall to charge the rechargeable battery on the actual coffee maker. You insert a pod. Add your water. Wait for it to heat up in the coffee wheel instantly come out of the bottom. This is going to be a perfect camping gift for my husband who loves espresso. It’s gonna work great on road trips. All I need now is to order some Nespresso pods. Easy to use good value for the money high-quality item seems to be really well made. Good size perfect for travel and having coffee for real coffee lover.
