Yay! No breakable glass carafe!
This is a great product but it came with one issue. Photo shows product image with small red circle in area where there was extra ceramic material. I found a long thin metal tool in my toolbox (like a file or punch) and was able to knock it off. It was approximately the size of a grain of sand but potentially sharp and not rounded. I would not want a piece like that to come off accidentally and get swallowed by anyone.
I've only had the Kohipress Portable French Press for 3 days but I've managed to use it everyday. I needed a portable coffee maker to take with me to prepare just in case coffee wasn't provided at a location. It fits perfectly in my bag. I had ground coffee in a separate ziplock but I guess I could have easily left it at the bottom of the french press. I wasn't sure if adding sugar or creamers would affect the press (after pushing the pump down) but it didn't. I initially thought the amount of coffee in the top container (what you end up drinking) wasn't enough but to my surprise it was more than enough. It has found a home on my desk at work where I can brew coffee while sending emails.
I lost my stainless steel filter, Can someone help me get a new one?
I get it. This ceramic pour over cone is sturdy. Easy to clean. If you grind your coffee correctly, it will deliver a clean, consistent and tasty brew. I think the color is pleasant and calming, especially in the early morning. I'm just not sure I understand why I mistakenly thought it was larger than it is. You can see one of my filters sticking up out of it in the photo. There's plenty of room to make a good cup of coffee. I'm just a two-cup kind of guy. One for me. One for my wife. Also, I'm partial to having more than one hole for the dripping process. This one has one rather large hole at the bottom. You need a pointy filter. I've got flat-bottom filters. So I have invested in some pointy tipped filters. I really am a fan of the ceramic cone though. It keeps the coffee warmer as it drips. So I think eventually I will figure a way to add more grams of ground coffee for two cups. I've got a small carafe that would fit this cone. I may check back into this review and boost it to five stars.
I'd give it -3 starts. Was very excited to use it, i didn't want a kcup only maker... Item came in used, had water leaking from the inside, the outside of the box was dry it was just re packaged... I want my money back and the 3 year warranty i bought for it
I bought this because one, I love the look of it. 2, I wanted something for just making one cup of coffee. This did the trick. I actually mainly make coffee right into a mug with it now. I didn't like how small the filters that came with it were, so I bought the Chemex 3 cup filters and those work great. The first pic is with the Chemex filter, and the second is with the filters that came with the maker. Again, love the looks and it makes it so easy to make just one cup of coffee. :D
I was looking for a basic old school coffee pot and chose this one after much research. I love it! I am a former barista who both loves drinking and making coffee. This means I also have just about every method for brewing coffee at home. Drip coffee isn’t my favorite method of brewing coffee, at least not if I’m going for the best flavor and brew. However, I drink a few cups each morning and I got tired of the time consuming rituals of some brew methods. I decided to get a coffee pot so that I could have a full pot of coffee without too much fuss. The taste from this pot is good, never burnt. I like the simplicity of the operation of it, while also having a programmable option. If you are looking for a dependable coffee pot that makes good coffee and reminds you of coffee brewing in the morning when you were a kid, then this is the best me for you. I love it.
I've been searching for a mini french press for a while now. When I saw this little cutie on Vine, I thought "worth a try". With my numerous travels, and hospital stays, I have become aversed to ill prepared coffees and teas. For me, tea cures all and coffee keeps me out of the psych ward. I've invested in a portable electric kettle, and now this little french press. This is definitely easy to travel and pack, but it should have come with an extra filter or 2. I haven't put it too the test yet. If it doesn't work out well, you will definitely see an update here.
Cuisinart CPO -800. Before ordering this machine I did a lot of research and I wanted an affordable coffee maker SCCA Certify. Since I got it, I’ve done couple of tests. The results are not what I was expecting from a machine accredited. I feel like the coffee is not been heated right, it taste watery. Design wise, is a good looking device. Doesn’t take much space, like the carafe. But, most importantly the coffee does not taste great. Starbuck is not the greatest, but their light roast coffee actually taste better than what this machine is making at the moment. I will continue testing, and If I can’t get it to where I want my coffee it will be replaced. I know, if you want the greatest out there the Moccamaster is the way to go.
I love coffee so much that I roast it at home but due to some changing circumstances, I just don't always have time to make a pour-over and I thought this coffee maker would give me good consistent results. I used to use a grind and brew that made ok coffee by Cuisinart but it lasted a solid 7 years of intermittent use. It was becoming buggy so time to replace it. I was not wrong. This coffee maker makes great coffee. Consistently. Huge props to Bonavita too for standing behind their products! If you are taking the time to read these reviews, you know this is a great coffee maker. Gold cup and all that stuff is legitimate. Bonavita has been around for a long time, and it is a well known brand in coffee circles. So why only 3 stars? The coffee carafe is awful. If you want to pour without the lid, it will spill. Fine, I will screw on the lid. The worst part, however, was that after less than 6 months, the internal seal started leaking into the vacuum cavity. I filled out the warranty form on the Bonavita website, received a response within a week, and a new thermal carafe shortly after. Awesome! Right around the same time, the coffee maker stopped its cycle half-way. It would complete it after I restarted it. I read some of the reviews stating the same before buying it but quickly dismissed them thinking it was user error. I thought everyone that was complaining about the coffee maker stopping half way were experiencing this issue because they were not descaling. Descale, descale, descale. Got it. When I started experiencing the same issue, I started worrying because I descale religiously. Another warranty form fill, another quick response, and a replacement unit shortly after. Great! What isn't great is that I don't know how long this will last and getting a new coffee maker through a warranty form seems like this is not what I was hoping it is. I took the coffee maker apart and didn't see anything too worrisome with the exception of one thing. Although I'm not a huge fan of the plastic at the bottom of the heating element, that's not it. I didn't see any rust or anything leading to believe there was a leak somewhere either. What is worrisome is that the control board was overheating in some areas. I can only guess that the temperature might have fried the relay. Nothing else looks "bad" per se. I am hoping this is just a QC issue and won't have to fill out another warranty form.
I've had this for a few years. After a few months, it's been flaking like this. What a waste of money. And has this paint been getting in my coffee. Check out the other reviews. Avoid this product completely.
This coffee maker makes fine coffee. I bought it in a china town in San Francisco
What a beautiful press! It reminds me of The Great Gatsby. I am in love! And it is such a classy rose gold!
I was really starting to like this product. However after about a month of use the inner "strainer" where the coffee sits became moldy. I attempted to clean the product by soaking and scrubbing but cannot seem to get the mold out. Very disappointing because other than this the product is great! I looked but it doesn't seem that the company offers just a replacement of this part!
