I was amazed how quickly this coffee pot heated up, and started brewing! I love a HOT cup of coffee, and wasn't happy with the temperature of the coffee, with my old one. This coffee pot fits perfectly on my counter under my top cabinets, and it slides out easily for me to open the top lid to put the coffee and water into it. I love that it has a reusable cone coffee filter in it, so I don't have to pay for filters and mess with them. I just pull this filter out, empty it into the trash, and then rinse it out quickly! Another positive for me, is that you really CAN remove the pot mid-brew to pour a cup without it dripping! It has a 30-second pause, for you to pour a cup and then put the pot back under it again. I have had SEVERAL machines in the past claim that you can do this, but just about every single one still dripped & sizzled & made a mess for me to clean up. I honestly was in disbelief when I tried it out (which I have a photo of me doing it btw lol) and not one single drop came out!! The only negative at all, and it isn't a big deal to me, is that you can tell whoever wrote the manual that comes with it, has English as a second language. It wasn't written well, gramatically. Overall, this pot get a 5 star rating from me and i would recommend it to anyone!!
Directions aren’t great but it isn’t hard to figure out how to get it up & running. First batch of coffee tasted pretty good but to be effective and enjoy the cold brew, you have to take the time to prepare and plan ahead. It took a few tries to get the ratio correct for the strength of coffee I like. I will definitely continue to use this machine and I’m sure I’ll perfect the process with a little more practice. Of note, the ISI professional NO2 chargers from coffeemakers.us.com worked great.
I ordered this to replace my Keurig which stopped working. The Pros: I love the look of it, it comes with both an insert to use K-cups and ground coffee, it has an adjustable base so there are less splash marks on the counter, it holds 40 oz of water so you only need to refill water every 4 cups, its simple and easy to use. The biggest con is that it takes almost 4 minutes to brew a single cup of coffee! The coffee is hot and tastes great, however, it takes quite a bit of time as I believe it is heating up the water each cup. Also, the K-cup insert is removable and very easy to clean, which is not the case with a Keurig. If you don't mind waiting for your cup of coffee, this is the machine for you!
Pros: Easy to understand Instructions. Easy to set up and use. Well designed components. Plastic components are well molded and have an aesthetic and consistent finish. Coffee brewing delivers great taste. Con: The LCD screen has NO back lighting. That is my only complaint! It is difficult to read the screen if the kitchen lighting is directly above the counter top.Thankfully once the machine is set up, it is no longer needed for my usage style. I saw some reviewers complain that the water reservoir is difficult to fill. I find that to be untrue. In my case, I do not use the pot to fill the reservoir, I use a iced tea pitcher, which is only 5" in diameter, so basically, tall & skinny. In the photo you will see I have the coffeemaker sitting in a common cafeteria tray. It makes it easy to turn the entire coffemaker to the side so that the reservoir is easy to access. It also is a anti mess feature for those inevitable "duh days" where I may do something dumb like brew 12 cups while there is still some coffee in the pot. The tray can capture a lot of overflow. I also saw some reviews that the grinder was loud, but it seems half as loud as my stand alone Mr Coffee Burr Grinder. I brewed coffee at 4:30 this morning and when my wife got up for work I asked if she heard it and she said no. I always had to take my Mr Coffee grinder in through the laundry room and into the powder room to grind, if I forgot to do it the night before. It is probably the best coffemaker I have owned so far and at age 64, I have owned many appliances. Let me say, I was an engineer, so I constantly evaluate every product I use for how well it is designed and there are very few I really respect. If it had a back lit screen, I would have definitely given it five stars.
I had seen an idea to make cold brew on Pinterest using a mason jar and adding coffee grounds then leaving it for 12 -24 hours, then you have to use a cheese cloth to get the grounds out, I did that a few times than thought there must be something easier , I found this and it works amazingly. I highly recommend it.
Bought because i had another item from this brand that i loved however this one started leaking the 2nd time i used it.
I didn’t chance to brew a pot of coffee with this machine because I knew as soon as I unboxed it I want going to keep it due to the color. I’m writing this review to save others the trouble of looking forward to the color “Ivory” as seen in the ad. Yes, it says ivory not white but the photos led me to think it was going to be white not cream, almost beige in color. Also, the water shower head is very small, making me think this coffee maker wouldn’t be able to evenly cover the coffee grounds. My photos show the ivory coffee maker next to my white toaster as well as the difference between the ad and real life.
So, the coffee quality is great when the filter doesn’t fold down on itself. So make sure you have the right size. And it gives hot coffee. So be careful. The size and design of the coffee pot is perfect for smaller kitchens, campers, low cabinets, etc. and it’s very easy to use. So, 2 critical flaws that caused it to lose stars. First, there’s no shut off or no way to tell when it’s finished brewing. Second and most critical. No automatic shut off, which should be standard in any electrical appliance.
I purchased this coffee in mid-March 2024 for my 80-year-old mother when she moved into my guest house so I could help take care of her. She only consumes 4-5 cups of coffee a week. This week (almost four months to the day it was purchased), water began to fill the area around the coffee pod; most of it drained through the dispenser, and the rest leaked over the side down the machine and onto the countertop. When the cycle was done, and it was supposedly "safe," she opened the lid to remove the pod, and hot water sprayed out from a hose at the back of the unit. It was a light spray, but the water was definitely hot. Fortunately, she was not hurt. Unfortunately, the return window for the product has closed. This is very disappointing.
I think my Chemex this time around was defective. My first one lasted 6 years with regular daily use. This last one made it 3 months before it broke at the seam in the spout. Very disappointing.
Small and compact. Great for travel. I like that is has a funnel and presser for the coffee grinds. The funnel serves as a magnetic basket remover to remove the coffee grinds basket after use. You can measure how much water you want for your expresso and pick the strength by the amount of water. It takes about 5 mins for water to heat up if using cold water. When it set up and ready and you turn it on and hold the button down. The light will start blinking and the blinking bar will increase as the temperature of the water increases. Once the water is hot it will beep as if it’s finished. You then have to double press the button to start brewing. It will make a noise and wait 10 seconds because it’s soaking the grinds. After the soak stage it will continue brewing until the water chamber is emptied. You can stop brewing by pressing the main button again. If you don’t want your coffee as hot just simply double press the brew butting during the heating process and it will brew at the time. To clean you just put water in the top and double press the brew button without the grinds in it. It will flush the system with water. *make sure the bottom grind compartment is tightened so no leakage happens during brewing. I haven’t had a problem with it but it is a warning in the instructions. The only thing I would change about this is that there isn’t a drip plate or way to hold it over your cup so if you are doing multiple cups the moisture can cause dripping while the water is heating up. It’s not very convenient to hold it over a cup for 5 mins as the water heats. You can easily use a napkin or rag to set it on, it’s just a little inconvenient. You have to hold the machine over you cup while it’s brewing and it doesn’t funnel to one area so make sure your cup is big enough to cover the entire circle or you may get some brewed outside your cup and onto the counter. This really is a great travel buddy for those that need there expresso shots first thing in the morning. It’s so small and compact. You’ll have to find a place for the funnel and press though because it doesn’t come with a pouch.
I was waiting very excited this French press, usually I take my time to check the reviews etc, so after that I decided to buy it. Today, nov 27th finally arrives. I didn’t notice in the first view til I started to see it inside and I notice some part of the glass was broken just behind the copper thing, that is why i couldn’t see it from outside. I just started the process to return it , but I’m feeling sad because the design was very nice for me and I wanted to drink my coffee now! 😡😓
Love this!
This unit does a good job producing a small pot of coffee within just a few minutes. At 5-cups maximum, it's not something you'll want in your kitchen for a family of coffee drinkers. But since I'm the only one in the house that drinks coffee, I like that it has a very small footprint on the counter but still produces a good couple mugs of coffee at a time. I added pictures of the small, single-cup brewer I have been using and this Hamilton-Beach is even smaller, which is great for saving counter space. The front-fill container for water is much handier than the usual rear-fill models; there is less chance of spilling water trying to fill it. The removable basket also makes cleaning up a breeze. And having the pause-and-serve on such a small, basic unit also is handy. Because there this is a very basic unit, hopefully, there is less to go wrong with it and it should last a good long time. One thing to note from a safety standpoint that I think is serious enough to cost it 1 star: there is no auto-shutoff for the warming plate. I mention that because many of us have become accustomed to these types of appliances having auto-off features that shut down something hot after an hour or two. I could see this potentially being a problem if you leave a small amount of coffee in the pot and forget to flip the power switch off. I think it's a mistake for Hamilton-Beach not to include this basic safety feature. Other than that one flaw, though, I really like the way this coffee pot looks and functions.
a great product but it Should be better packaged when shipped abroad, Apart from the damage that can be seen in the pictures the product is pretty good.
