I have been having fun with my Chemex. I was using a Keurig and it was fast, but not the best coffee I’ve ever tried. I decided I wanted to find out more about coffee, and was interested in what I read about the Chemex. There is definitely a learning curve in using this. I would suggest looking at the videos available about how to use the Chemex. There is also an app that I use to help time my pour it is called KoHi. You can customize the size of cup you are brewing. I have been keeping a little journal and rating how I like the coffee. I have gotten it down to 283 grams of brewed coffee, 17 grams coffee beans. I use an encore bur grinder (I love it) and grind at #25. At least for this bag of coffee- the last bag I needed 26 grind. I have also figured out I like medium roast coffee. I also went to the library and got numerous books about coffee. I am finding the history of coffee fascinating. If you need a good book about coffee check out “craft Coffee “ by Jessica Easto. I bought this book, it is a good reference book. I have gotten the time it takes to make the coffee down to about 10 minutes. It’s worth it to me. So have fun if you buy this.

Mr coffee has its reputation. This one s easy to use and clean, fast brewing. Design has a flaw. The coffee holder is easy to detach for cleaning, but not so easy to reinsert. The hot plate rust very quickly. The previous 12 cup maker lasted almost 10years. I expect to use this one for 2-3years at most.

  • this French press is the worst purchase I have ever made on coffeemakers.us.com. The double filter does not do its job. My coffee taste like filled with a coffee powder. I had to use a paper filter (the picture - paper towel) to make my coffee drinkable as much as I could, still is very GROSS.

IMPORTANT…. Update: see below, dated 4/24 & 5/24. I really wanted to like this being a percolator user for decades. I order a used 'like new' one, but it arrived more broken than 'like new' so I returned to get another new one. It does the job and makes a nice, hot, flavorful cup of coffee. It is easy to clean, although you end up cleaning it earlier than you think (see below). My problems with may just be my personal issues, idk. 1. There is no light. I knew this. But it sure would be nice to have especially when brewing process stops and then later when you glance from across the room and ask yourself, 'Did I unplug that thing?' 2. Getting the top off is not easy and hence I am afraid, in the not too distant future, the black knob will snap off. That's how hard it is to remove. There is no screw, it is welded on, so if it breaks, there is not solution other than to somehow buy another whole top, or pry it open with a tool. Neither solution is great. 3. Because the inner part of the spout is so close to the top , you really do have to remove all baskets before you start pouring. Otherwise you will be refiltering/brewing some of your coffee. The baskets are hot, drippy and before having a first cup of coffee I find myself swearing a lot early in the morning. Plus, being slightly OCD, I then find myself cleaning the whole drip system before I even pour myself a cup of coffee. Maddening! These issues could just be me being a cantankerous old man who wants an easy cup of morning jo. It does make a nice hot cup of your favorite flavorful coffee. I will use this until it breaks, but still looking for my go to percolator. UPDATE 4/24 6 months in pot was working ok until we went to plug it in and the wire attached to pot sparked. Luckily my wife was not holding the pot anywhere near that area. Smell of burning rubber, a dark burn mark on my counter and a very frightened wife. The cord had just snapped in one section exposing a bare wire. (See pic) We have a coffee bar and are careful with our coffee pots. This was not user neglect or us ‘slicing’ the cord by mistake. We don’t prepare food by coffee bar. Wrote to Faber customer service but have yet to hear from them adding to disappointment. This is very dangerous . Someone could have been shocked, the counter could have had permanent damage or if left on counter in ‘keep warm’ mode, who knows what could have happened! Very scary. And no response from CS is a big red flag! Avoid!!! Final Update 5/24: After not hearing from Farberware CS i purchases a compatible cord. It was a better cord since the wires were one piece and was actually molded into the plug. All worked well for about 3 weeks until the percolator stopped working altogether. There was a burning smell and then it stopped functioning. Between the original cord being downright dangerous, customer service being terrible, and now the product not working at all after a mere 8 months. I double down on my DO NOT BUY! AVOID AT YOUR OWN PERIL!

  • What an efficient way to have my favorite cold brew. I love the inside filter. The screen is very efficient to not allow any grounds to get in the liquid. The handle is sturdy and the covered spout is perfect. If you love cold brew you need this

This is a great little programmable coffee maker, perfect for singles or anyone else who just wants to brew one cup at a time. Be sure you understand when purchasing, this doesn't brew 4 mugs of coffee. Coffeemakers use 5 ounces as the measure of "cups" so it doesn't even brew 4 standard measuring cups of coffee. This is fine and exactly what I wanted, but I felt that some buyers online (It's different in a store where you can easily see how tiny the item is) might be expecting a brewer that makes enough for several people at a time. This handy little brewer will make one BIG "venti" size mug of coffee, or two smaller cups. I'm attaching a picture next to a Keurig machine, for size comparison. Years ago I switched from a programmable coffeemaker to the Keurig because I like my coffee fresh and felt like it was such a waste to make a pot of coffee only to throw most of it out. But I always felt the coffee for Keurig was expensive and the pods wasteful, and I missed having my coffee fresh and ready when I got up in the morning. This inexpensive little device has solved all of those problems! You set it up the night before, set the brew time, and presto!, an excellent cup of hot, freshly brewed coffee is there when you get out of bed! I only gave it 4 stars because it doesn't feel very sturdy, and I don't know how long it will last, but it is so useful and inexpensive I plan to buy another to replace it when the time comes!

  • Absolutely perfect and very easy to use. My only hang-up is that it is not ideal for larger coffee cups. As you will see in the pictures, if you use a Rae Dunn mug as we do, you will have to pull the tray out and remove the chrome top. Once you have done this, you can tilt the mug and slide the tray back in. Do not make coffee without the tray being inserted, because the unit will discharge water every time and will go all over the countertop.

I've had many Mr Coffee Tea makers but this one isn't like those. It's very cheaply made and it leaks all over the place. Plus it is really hard to use and then keep up with water running out the front and the back. I'm sending mine back. I should have listen to the ratings!

This item is not a 3 cup French Press. It is barely a 1 cup. The frame for the glass canister was distorted-see the pictures. I cannot believe that I paid $42. for this. This was to be a birthday present and it was such a disappointment.

  • Love this cold brew maker. I use half the recommended amount of coffee for a batch, otherwise it brews a very strong cold brew concentrate. Not too bad to clean. Cleaning a cold brew maker is always a mess, but this one isn't too bad. Makes enough coldbrew for a week in one batch. Would recommend and buy again.

  • We are now on our second unit of this exact model, and in both instances the ring around the heating pad/element has loudly CRACKED when brewing coffee. I've been brewing coffee in a variety of coffee makers for decades, both at home and in the office, and I've never had any other brand or unit do this - only these two units of this exact model. I don't know what is up with their design or their manufacturing process or what, but it's a real shame. This maker is WAY too expensive for us to keep having to deal with this, and there is no chance we're going to give any more money to Hamilton Beach for such shoddy workmanship. The real shame is that we actually really love the versatility of this unit; we can brew up full pots for when we want to have a few cups between several of us, use their included single-serving adapter to make a single cup, or even throw in standard k-cup type pods. When it's working, it works great and looks good o our countertop. But for the price they ask to have these last no more than 6-12 months each? Sorry, just not worth it.

Box was busted and glass was scratched up, but the contents seem intact.

  • EDIT: After communication with the seller/manufacturer, They deemed that there must’ve been a quality control issue as the ring was supposed to be welded to the cylinder. They sent me a new filter unit right away. I set up and made coffee immediately upon receiving the new filter unit. I am incredibly happy with this product and highly recommend it to anyone wanting to try cold brew at home. The coffee (Black Gold) came out incredibly dense and for my taste needs to be 1 part coffee with 2 parts water. During the entire time of communicating with the seller, they sent different ideas on how to dilute the condensed coffee to taste the notes of flavors, like tasting notes in wine. That was very personalized communication and very much appreciated. The black gold straight from the decanter is smooth and delicious (I normally don’t like black coffee). However, to drink more than a taste, you should dilute it. I warm up the diluted black gold to drink it as bullet proof coffee. This changes the taste a little bit but that doesn't bother me. Have not yet tried it over ice. Definitely get yourself a Penguin, because of the high quality and beauty of the unit. The decanter is stronger glass and doesn’t feel like it will break under normal use. If anything is awry with your order, their customer service is top notch and responsive. Prior 1star review: I just got this and can’t even use it. The top metal ring absolutely refuses to stay on the filter. 1) The filter came shaped as a triangle. After much manipulating to make it round again, the ring still pops off as soon as I get it on. 2) To top it off, it is incredibly difficult to get the ring down over the mesh filter part and that part bunches up. At one point I succeeded in getting the mesh tucked under the ring only to have the ring pop back off again....UGH!!!! So frustrated. I will contact the maker to see if it is user error or bad product. I will update this review if this gets resolved.

  • Light doesn’t come on. Called customer service. Worthless effort for the time. No point in having this machine if Frother doesn’t work!! Tip: If you want the Frother to work… Each time you use the machine, unplug it, 5 seconds, plug back in. It will work for a one time use. *Yes! I called customer service and can not for the life of me understand what was being said. Keurig should do better. * Light on the button does not come on when pressed. Yes, I have waited until the machine has finished brewing, warmed up… * Yes the Frother is clean, and precisely measured for a Latte, and it’s regular milk, and I will say a flavored creamer has worked before and frothed very well. * The machine was delivered Nov 16th, today is Dec 16th. So… 30 days and all of a sudden it stops working? Keurig should do better than this. * I use bottled water in this machine. I am so very disappointed in Keurig, for putting this Limited addition on the Market Knowing it has suck terrible issues with its Frother. Shame on Keurig. Even though they reached out, stating to contact Customer Service. “ EYE ROLL” This isn’t the experience they want me to have. * Then make it right!!!
