  • The coffee maker arrived in perfect condition as it is well-protected. I opened the box and put all parts that I could in the dishwasher and ran them for a cycle and dried. Then I read the manual and followed the directions on descaling. It's not a premium unit, so build quality is in line with what I would expect in this range. I set the time, which can only be done when the unit is not ON (brewing). Programmability is simple. Other than that, it's a programmable, but simple coffee maker. It looks good with the other stainless steel appliances...so it has that going for it also. The permanent filter is awesome for me. I just hope it's easy to keep clean. I like it...and I don't play around with my coffee in the morning, which is why I had to do a test run the night before I switched:)

  • Love this machine! It's quick, easy to clean, quiet, and froth comes out thick like soap suds! I've used a variety of creams and milk to test it. I found With Dairy milk; you will get the thickest foam. With Almond milk, Oat milk, or any creamers; you will get foam but not as thick as with the dairy. With heavy cream; it absolutely did nothing at all. It thickened the cream, but did not froth it. Drink still came out delicious though! Hope these tips help!

  • The cafe arrived in great condition, except the leather strap must be dry rotted. Simply removing the strap to clean the cafe, there were pieces of leather all over the counter. What a mess…

So sad this leaked as other reviewers said. I was hoping we'd get lucky! I should have put down a towel underneath it in my fridge the first night of brewing. The coffee was really so good done this way! But the spigot was just not designed or made well. We tried working with KitchenAid to fix the issue without having to return the whole thing but their suggestions did not help stop the spigot from leaking. We used it for a couple of batches before giving up on it and deciding to return. Ended up going with a filter you can put into a mason jar. It definitely doesn't brew as well as this KitchenAid can but it won't leak all over our fridge. We had to take everything out and it even leaked into the bottom freezer x.x it was no fun to clean up. So...sadly, it won't work for us. We would have gladly shelled out extra for a spigot that wouldn't fail 😪

I don't understand while this type of coffee maker is so hard to find that you have to shut off manually I like them a lot, worked great, most have timers on them to shut down coffee maker, then you end up with cold coffee I like to have several cup during the morning, doesn't overheat coffee like some do great tasting coffee for several hours

Keep it in my office for when I need that extra cup of coffee.

  • For me, the most essential aspect of a coffeemaker is whether it makes good coffee. This coffeemaker passes that requirement. It has some very nice features and also some that are annoying. For testing purposes, I used Starbucks’s Pike Place Whole Bean and Starbucks’s Pike Place ground coffees. I find this to be a very flavorful and satisfying roast. In addition to making good coffee, this machine looks quite lovely on the kitchen counter. Its dimensions permit it to have a small footprint, which is essential as we have limited counter space. The filter container is easy to access and is easily removed for cleaning. The steel surfaces are easy to clean. The carafe warmer plate automatically powers off at the two-hour mark, lessening the likelihood of scorching any remaining coffee contained in the carafe. The machine includes an integrated bean grinder to choose fine, medium, and coarse grind options. The freshly ground coffee is deposited into the filter bin, and the brewing process automatically begins following the completion of the grinding process. When preparing for brewing, one sets the number of cups of coffee being brewed so that the grinder can prepare the proper amount of ground coffee. The grinder has settings that allow three different strengths of coffee to be prepared. Setting the machine for a stronger brew causes it to grind more coffee. The coffeemaker provides the option of using ground rather than whole-bean coffee. I found the resulting coffee from both whole bean and ground to be delicious, although I prefer the flavor of the freshly ground whole bean coffee. The coffeemaker will produce up to ten cups of coffee. The glass carafe is well-made and fits perfectly into the machine. The coffeemaker is designed so that the carafe can be removed before the end of the brewing process to pour a cup of coffee. That's a feature that I won’t be using, as the coffee never tastes as good as it does if I wait for the brewing process to complete fully. Included are four Melitta paper filters. They do an excellent job of filtering the coffee, not allowing any sediment to pass, and not adding any paper flavor. I will continue to use this brand of filters. For me, there are some aspects to this machine that I find annoying. Our overhead cabinets are 19 inches above the countertop surface. This creates a limited space between the top of the coffeemaker and the bottom of the cabinet. Because access to the water and coffee bean reservoirs are located on top of the coffeemaker, the limited space requires me to pull the machine out from under the cabinet each time I wish to make coffee. If you have higher cabinets, this might not be an issue for you. But for me, it’s a pain. Another annoyance is that when using the coffee grinder, I must tap or jiggle the coffeemaker for the beans to feed into the grinder properly. Otherwise, the beans will not fall, with the result being that the coffee is weak. The slope of the coffee bean reservoir is just not steep enough for the coffee beans to feed consistently into the grinder. This brings me to my final annoyance. While the coffeemaker includes a timer feature that allows me to set the coffeemaker to brew at a particular time, such as before I get up each morning, the grinder issue requires me to use ground coffee when using this feature. Otherwise, the coffee is too weak to enjoy. I did not deduct any stars because of having to move the coffeemaker from under the cabinet each time I wish to make coffee because that’s not a fault of the coffeemaker. But I did remove two stars due to the grinder issues. If the grinder would feed adequately, this would be a five-star item. **UPDATE 3-24-24** After making numerous pots of coffee, the grinder function now works as it should. Coffee beans now feed correctly into the grinder. I can now use the timer function and have a pot of coffee ready to enjoy when I get up each morning. As a result I’ve changed my original rating from 3-stars to 5-stars. I ordered a replacement carafe to have available should the original be broken. The only source I’ve found for this carafe is wabilogic.com. Wabilogic is the official partner for Melitta and carries replacement items not found on the Melitta website. ***Update 07-17-24*** This machine failed after four-months of light use. I used this machine to make two pots of coffee daily. The grinder still works, but the machine will not pump water to the coffee basket. This is not a hard water situation, as I use a water softener. Prior to failure, the water was pumping through the machine at the same rate as it had with the first pot of coffee I made. This is very disappointing for a coffee maker that costs as much as this machine’s price point. **Updated 9-28-24** Customer Service replaced this unit under warranty. This merited a ratings adjustment from 1-star to 4-stars. This would be a 5-star product had it not failed so quickly. **Updated 10-06-24** The replacement coffeemaker failed two-weeks after receipt. It had the same problem as the first one - it quit pumping water. This is a great coffeemaker when it works. However, the consistent failures I have experienced makes it impossible to recommend this coffeemaker.

I was initially very excited to get my Frieling French press! I’ve heard great things about this brand online and have seen it for sale at boutique home good shops. However, mine arrived in disappointing condition. There’s a scratch on top of the lid and the enamel has chips and uneven coverage around the rim of the lid and kettle. This is absolutely not acceptable for this price point. Being a high reputed German brand, I thought they’d have higher production standards. I’d say get the regular stainless steel finish and not the enamel one. I’m afraid that if my press is already in this state, the peeling will continue to get worse with wash and wear. Insofar as performance, this has a very nice heft to it and throughly presses out grounds. The metal screens fit quite snuggly and there is a squeaky sound when it’s being pressed. A bit more “sound effect” than my usual ceramic press, but I don’t mind that, it’s because the contact around the jug is secure. I do like the size and esthetic design of this press. There’s also no dripping/dribbling from the lip after you pour. The white color I chose looks more “bone” or “off-white” in person. I took a photo with it next to my white kitchen cabinets to show. If the enamel damages on my press where not present, this would be an easy 5 stars.

  • Update 5/2020: still love it! We run filtered water through it and haven't had to clean it in almost 5 years. If the pot sits on the burner for a long time, the coffee will scorch. Solved that problem by putting a folded piece of foil under the pot. Don't fold too many times, and leave the pot directly on the burner for a while before inserting the foil, otherwise the coffee might not achieve piping-hot status. Invest in the stainless filter basket for the best results. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT! Yes, it's big. Yes, it takes up a lot of counter space. Yes, it delivers piping hot, delicious coffee - and keeps it piping hot - in just a few minutes. It's taken a bit of reconditioning - I can't start the brew cycle without the pot in place (don't try it unless you want to clean up a big mess) like I could with my old drip coffee maker. Another error was trying to get a cup of hot water for tea without using the filter basket (I haven't upgraded to the stainless basket, so my plastic basket is coffee flavored). It's possible, but I had to hold the cup right beneath the hot water spray, otherwise its "fan" pattern overshoots the top of the cup and, yep, another big mess. Can't really add much that hasn't already been said. If you have room for it, go for it.

  • This is for the Krups 5-cup coffee maker. The bad: Cheap plastic. Will probably not last. Hard closing cover with tiny little plastic latches (see photos above). Counter gets very hot when it is on. I leave it on for hours and the counter is super hot underneath The Good: One simple on/off switch. No auto-off. Great for people who want the pot on all day. More Bad: Pouring the coffee sometimes leaves drips off the spout—see video. Pour carefully and slowly and do it over the sink or counter. Definitely not at the table when the carafe is full. The filter gets stained easily and seems very thin fabric—not metal. First photo of the filter is after one pot of coffee and after soaking in bleach water for 5 min. Second photo of the filter is after 3 days of daily use and daily washing. The fabric filter is already stretching and about to tear. Verdict: I would not recommend this model. Counter Verdict: It is a good size and a low price. Get it if you are on a real budget and don’t care about replacing the thing you just bought with another thing shortly after buying it (i.e. you hate someone so you give this as a gift, or you like throwing away money because you have to keep buying this thing over and over again since it won’t last long. I had more videos to post but coffeemakers.us.com only allows one short video. Ugh. I may have to post on YouTube so you can really see how bad it is. Although, tbh, I am using it since…ooopsies…no return on items that you have used….so I will have to buy another coffee maker to replace the one I just bought and I’m not ready to do that just yet….so I use it, it drips, it doesn’t taste great, but it tastes better than the one that it replaces.

  • My favorite purchase of the year so far. Usually I'm not a fan of making one cup of coffee at a time, I find it tedious and annoying. For this, I am totally willing to make the sacrifice. This little machine has changed the quality of coffee considerably. You can use either K Pods or the reusable filter for ground coffee (There's storage for whichever one you're not currently using on the bottom right side in a pull out drawer). On top on the black screen are all your options (rich, speciality, pour over ice, etc) and then you can choose size (8, 10, 12, 14, 16 oz, etc). On the let side there's a frother that swings out. On the right side, there's a scoop that you can store right there and tells you right on it how many scoops to use depending on how many OZs of coffee you're making (I've found it to be accurate so far). In the back is where the water goes. You can remove the tank to clean and fill it and it is marked ( 12oz, 24oz, etc.) There are options on how to clean different parts of the coffee machine as well as how to declog it but I haven't had it long and haven't had to do this yet except an initial clean. My favorite thing to do has been to make iced coffee with this. Maybe it's just me because my old Black and Decker was awful and we'd had it for way too many years, but the "pour over ice" setting makes the best iced coffee. I don't know what it is. I just throw some ice in a mug, scoop my coffee into the filter, hit the button, pick the size and push brew and its wonderful every time. I also do enjoy frothing my creamer, though it's nothing fancy, it gives it a little something extra. I've been nothing but happy with this coffee maker. And the color is lovely!! Best one I've ever owned.

  • I noticed signs of wear after the first use. I think some parts of it are not healthy Not safe.

  • Purchased this coffee pot 3 months ago. Husband uses it once in the morning and once in the evening. The heating element completely stopped working!! Does not make coffee or heat up. You can see the light is on and the coffee pot is filled with water. So it should be brewing coffee now. NOPE completely NOT working at all as you see! Never in my life have I purchased a coffee pot that lasted only 3 months. Save your money do not purchase this brand coffee pot.

  • Easy to use and easy to clean. Tastes great and refreshing. Just follow the instructions after that you can experiment different things. The quality of the parts are great. It is not insulated by the way.
