First off let me get the biggest issue out in the open because this was what I was most upset about- THIS DID NOT COME WITH THE GOLDTONE REUSABLE FILTER. In fact, not only did it not come with it AS ADVERTISED ON THE PRODUCT PAGE, but the booklet clearly states that not all models come with the reusable filter. I felt completely misled by this. We are trying to be more conscious of the impact we have on the environment, and I was really excited that this was supposed to have a reusable coffee filter, but it did not. Now that that’s out of the way, let me get to the rest of the facts. This coffee maker can brew up 12 cups. It is very sleek and stylish in design and is attractive for a coffee machine. It comes with a water filter and a measuring spoon. Brews the coffee quietly and quickly. After the coffee is brewed, it will tell you if it is fresh or how long since it was brewed (in 30 minute intervals) then automatically shuts off after 4 hours. It also automatically stops dripping coffee if you pull the carafe out. I received this item for free, but as of today it was listed at $78.40 which I felt was a little expensive for a slightly elevated basic coffee machine. Now had it come with the reusable filter as it was advertised, I would find the price point more palatable. But just by glancing at the other reviews I see that I am not the only one who was missing this key piece.
This iced coffee maker does a good job. It would be a better design if the handle was connected to the jar instead of the lid though. Definitely don't use the handle if the filter is still in otherwise it will fall. We drink probably too much coffee so will be getting the bigger one next.
I'm super happy with the awesome customer service the owner provides. (Thanks Gilana!) And let me tell you, I'm totally in love with this pour-over coffee maker set. Its simplicity and elegance? Chef's kiss! Perfect when you're brewing for 2 or 3 people. Couldn't recommend it enough! Blessings for your business!
I like the water reservoir, so I only have to refill it every couple of days. It is fast. The coffee is hot enough; but because I add creamer that cools it down a bit, I pop it in the microwave for an addition 30 seconds to bring it back up to temperature. It has 2 choices 8 oz cup or 14 oz; The 14 oz is perfect for me and works with my larger mugs, leaving just enough room for my creamer. My large mug holds a full 16 ozs, with a bit of room left over. (No more paper filters or throwing out leftover coffee from a big pot!) Update: Have owned it a little over a year and it leaks all over my counter and it continues to leak after the coffee is brewed (I have to put a spare cup under it to catch the coffee that keeps dripping) Hamilton Beach said they would give me a 15% off coupon to buy another one - NO THANKS, I can’t afford to buy a new coffee maker every year.
This is similar to the Primula Coffee Brew Buddy Single Cup Coffee Maker, Red which is just a mesh "net" with a red rim which I only use for brewing loose leaf tea. This pour over coffee dripper is the same concept except that it has more moving parts and the coffee brews slower in this vessel. Also, there is no part that sits in the water like the mesh brew buddy so it is strictly a coffee brewing vessel. There is a cone strainer into which the coffee grinds are placed. I use 2 tablespoons of espresso grind so that the water seeps through slowly. The cone fits into the glass cone that has a flat holder base with handle which sits easily on any cup that does not have any protruding decorations on the handle. Apparently, the holder and glass cone can come apart but I was not able to separate them and I felt I would break the glass if I did. Therefore, based on my use, I see only 2 easily movable pieces--the strainer and the glass cone with attached holder. It makes a great cup of coffee. My only dislike is that the coffee grinds plaster the wall of the strainer like mud. Cleaning this was like scraping mud off a screen. I used my fingers to remove most of the grinds and then rinsed out the rest of the grinds and washed both items in soap and water by hand. I definitely love the results; as I would be hard pressed to discern the difference between a cup of coffee brewed with an electric drip brewer and one brewed with this device. I do feel this is expensive at the current price of $24.95 but it works when only one cup of coffee is wanted or when there's no electricity for a drip machine. It's made in China, is apparently dishwasher safe (I personally would not use a dishwasher with this), and it is not suitable for a microwave. It's also BPA free as per the attached pamphlet. I attached one picture of the coffee grind covered cone as it's brewing into my cup. I also attached a picture of the finished cup of coffee. The white film you see on the top of the cup is actually the steam rising from the hot cup of coffee. I gave this 4 stars because of the cleaning mess and high price. Otherwise this seems like a quality product.
Keurig K-Supreme Plus SMART Coffee Maker was damaged right out of the box with a line of dead pixels down the screen. Normally I would just return a defective item, but this time there was a support option. I followed the coffeemakers.us.com support representatives instructions on a possible solution to the problem, but that didn't fix the screen. Supports next step was to contact Keurig on how to handle the damaged item and I'm currently waiting to hear back from them.
Easy to use and broke down easily. Poor quality as poor customer service.
Having had French presses before, this one looked nice. My old one disappeared... I got the Black 34oz... So, it's plastic on the outside, but glass on the inside. If you know about these, then they are usually not encased in plastic. Nothing big about that, a nice design feature. Love the French Presses, this on is big too.. This is the Tea press for us. Simple to use, put you dry ingredients first, then pour over the hot water, replace the lid with the press, wait for it to steep for however long you want it to, then press it down... Voila... Easy clean up... No issues as of yet... Currently priced at $21.99 for the 34oz I have and $17.99 for the 20oz. Recommended!
Product arrived in original manufacturer box with no signs of damage. After running the first batch of water through to clean the unit, noticed that the handle was unstable. The carafe was broken where the handle connects. There was no glass in the carafe or around the maker. Look in the box and there was no glass in there either. So it appears to have been shipped that way. Contacted Black & Decker via chat as suggested, and they tried to pawn me off to another department (call ### between 9-5 M-F). Returning the unit to coffeemakers.us.com, and purchasing another brand
This coffee maker makes great coffee! Like others have said, the carafe does not keep the coffee hot very long because the lid is thin and has no insulation. I always prewarm the carafe then decant it into a Zojirushi stainless carafe to keep warm. Another issue with the hanging basket is that the open carafe of coffee will cool off during the brew cycle. I solved this by drilling a hole into a large Ball jar lid and dropping it into the opening. It works great!. I know I shouldn’t have to add this but the coffee is so good, it’s worth it. Bonavita should think to add a lid if they stay with this design.
First time I bought this I bought the cork one….. SKIP, I can’t say it enough skip the cork get the not as pretty on your future self will thank you. Also while it’s a permanent filter get #2 filter it makes cleaning up a lot easier. I’m all about environmentally friendly but time is also something I value and put my biodegradable filters into my plants win win imo. Highly encourage also having a washable trivet under the pour over so the glass doesn’t break. Now I’m ngl and claim to be a tea expert heck most of the time I will say it’s vile and swill but my boyfriend drinks it so I like to make it for him. In using this daily I have learned even more, so I started to test it against other products. The mini Bodum, the oxo pour over and the m something I found in the grocery store. Oxo is the pour the amount of water walk away and forget it. The big Bodum one is a bit hard to pour and not make a mess and takes some serious time to pour think and make sure you get the right flavor. The mini has a better filter but isn’t huge at most I get one cup of tea out of it but dam is it cute! Overall if I had to do this all over again for daily single cup get the oxo, for cheap the m one works but be prepared to spend time pouring to make a good cup it has a peep hole to watch your progress, big Bodum for multiple people or a lot of coffee, and the small Bodum takes up a quarter of the space so if that’s an issue I recommend that. For now back to testing tea vs coffee on these to see what happens. P.s. all dishwasher safe in theory so that’s not the biggest factor minus the cork or no cork collar.
Only two mornings with my new percolator, but so far so great. There really is something better or different about percolated coffee!! I liked my Hamilton Beach drip-style coffee maker. It lasted about 5 years and then suddenly died. Time to try something new. With the West Bend percolator, I lost programmable. I didn't do my homework: Are there programmable percolators? The West Bend coffee tastes great. Made a proper cup off the bat. I happen to like store-ground Starbucks brand though I'm not as keen on the coffee they serve. WB recommends coarsely-ground coffee, and I noticed my Starbucks coffee had been ground on the fine side. (I'll ask for coarse next time.) The percolator worked well nonetheless. The parts inside the percolator — stem, basket, screen — are tinny but OK. The stainless steel lid is substantial and snug — and needs to be. The AC cord is way too short. West Bend acknowledges this in the manual, saying a short cord helps prevent safety problem for kids. I'll go along with that, but it made me appreciate my vacuum's 20-foot cord all the more. Coffee takes about 10 minutes, and there's lots of steam as the machine plugs away. As a railroad fan into steam locomotives, I like this feature. I had to point the spout away from my cabinets. The single light comes on when the coffee is ready and stays on while the coffee is being kept at a good hot temperature. Maybe some people will see this as a drawback: It has no timer or switch to turn off the appliance. You plug it in to start it and unplug to stop it. Yes, that's strange. I chalk it up to keeping the cost down Cleans easily, but it requires more cleanup compared to my old Hamilton Beach (or any Mr. Coffee type drip machine), which leaves the cleaning schedule up to you. (Never) As I said, it's only been two days, and so far I'm very pleased with the coffee from this West Bend percolator.
Portable, efficient, easy to clean, loved by birds.
As I sit in front of my laptop on a rainy February day I am enjoying my delicious daily extra large latte-100% guilt free thanks to this little coffee maker. Walking aimlessly around my local Walmart early one morning back in December of 2020, I spotted this exact model on sale for $28 and I snatched one...definitely an impulse buy. And here is why: Part of my daily ritual is a latte-a definitely luxury in my household and when I added up how much I was spending daily for my coffee it came to about $2,000.00 per year. While I like supporting my local coffee shops I hated that there were other things I could put that money to good use! This is why I bought this little coffee maker and for $28 bucks it was worth it! (BTW-I may have been a marking mistake on the side of Walmart-I never saw that coffee maker for $28 bucks again) Anyway-Here is the breakdown: I buy Pilon or Bustelo espresso coffee and bulk up when it goes on sale. As of 2/22 it was selling for about $6 at Walmart. Not sexy or trendy but it is the best coffee I have ever made. The coffee maker is solid and sturdy. Read the instructions so you don't burn yourself like I did the first time I used it. PACK down the grounds good-this is key. This is an espresso maker not a regular coffee maker so don't overfill with water. I use filtered water to try to extend the life of the coffee maker. One scoop for regular strength, 2 for a strong days work and three for a rocket launch. It brews in about 2 minutes. The Frother: It sucks. I tried using it a couple of times but it was pretty lame...but hey, I didn't expect a $2,000 espresso machine. I came to coffeemakers.us.com and bought me a $14 brother. Another excellent buy. Here is how I make my amazing latte every morning: get the espresso going like I mentioned above. While the espresso is brewing, I take my huge coffee cup, put in about 3-4 tablespoons of half n half and heat in the microwave for 30 seconds. I take the hot cream and use the frother for about 30-60 seconds...it will froth as much as you want-I take my Swirve sweetener, add a couple of teaspoons in, pour in my espresso and gently stir. And that is it. This is honestly some of the best coffee I have had...even better than my local coffee shop (Sorry I still love you guys!) The Money: I spent about $2k per year on coffee. $42 spent on equipment (I'll give it a useful life of 3 years), Pilon is about $6 at Walmart and that lasts me one month, sweetner and cream another $10 per month. All of this adds up to $.57 cents per latte. Much better than the $5-$6 I was spending each day AND the money and calories I saved whenever the smell of fresh croissants overtook me! Overall, this is an excellent espresso maker for the money...It will save you time, gas and money by making your own at home!
I got this for Christmas, and it was broken inside the box. Really bummed.
