Just wanted to post this for those of you thinking of a non-traditional color. I was really on the fence with choosing this color simply because there were no review pics. So here it is. I think it’s very cute. No regrets ordering it. Definitely fits well with my other coffee appliances that are similar in color. Just used it for the first time and it works well. I know some reviews complain about water spurting out. I can see that happening. I think if you don’t over fill it, that will help. I bought the 17oz size because I didn’t want something that would take up too much space. Filled it with 4 tablespoons of coffee and 14oz of water and it worked perfectly. No splashing, no grinds. Just a good sized single cup of coffee. Happy with the purchase so far.
This coffeemaker works great.
This make good hot coffee. Thats the only good. I use green mountain vanilla latte kcups only. Ordered in dec an with the holidays didnt get it set up till 1st week in january. I dont use the expresso kups, so no reason for me to access the pull out for the empty espresso cups. I also dont use the cup holder on the front of the slide out. Well I kept smelling sour milk. I dont leave my kcups in the machine, they go in the garbage as soon as brewed. And kcup holder gets pulled an wadhed with the drip tray constantly. So I pull out the slide out espresso pod dump bin. Luckly I pulled it slow. It was full of moldy sour latte. I was so grossed out. So i removed and scrubbed it. Put it back in. The picture of the pull out bin is from 2 cups of latte I drink a day. The other picture is the drip tray. Also after 2 cups of latte and the kcup removed immediately. It drips for ever. So I decided Im not paying this much for a machine that works this way regardless of the easier cleaning feature. So i take it apart to wash and return. There is no drip tray, no kcup holder, no pod bin and no water resivour on it. And I wipe down the nozzle daily. I lean it forward to get the water out of the hole under the water resivour. Nasty sour coffee comes pouring out of the nozzle down the front of me. Now Im pissed. So i keep tilting it back and forth and more comes out. Somewhere between the nozzle and the kcup holder coffee is building up and souring and molding. Had I not decided to return this I would never of known. Ive been drinking nasty moldy trapped coffee for 3.5 weeks, every day. And why the coffee maker smells like sour milk all the time. And probably why my allergies have flared so bad, along with my asthma. I have severe mold allergies and Im very anal about mold. Im beyond disappionted. I had hoped that switching from keurig i would have a brand that the control panels would last more then a year, which they dont in keurig. This wasnt the right brand I guess.
I like my coffee in small batches, and I'm a coffee snob, roast my own coffee, burr grinder, etc. For such a small amount of coffee that is usually consumed as soon as brewed, I decided to go for a different carafe, and found the Coastline 4-cup glass pour over carafe on coffeemakers.us.com that works perfectly. I use a #4 paper filter that is wetted down before pushed into the metal holder, and I always use the optional bloom/ degas feature. That said, if I need the full 5-cup capacity of the stainless steel carafe, I have it. This brewer is perfect in every other way, good temperature, excellent quality. Not a bad way to go.
I ordered two items . I got one of them with broken wooden ring (plz see the pic). I need a replacement.
I purchased this updated model because the plastic on my SS-700 was fading and I thought this would look nicer and have some brewing improvements. NOOoooooooo. This new design is terrible. It splashes coffee all over the place. Here are some photos of how it splashes to coffee onto the back of the unit and onto the kitchen counter after JUST ONE USE. I could not imagine the mess after a week's worth of brewing. This means constant cleaning. In addition, the used K-Cup was dripping from the needle hole when I took it out to throw it away. The previous model SS-700 used K-Cups did not drip, probably because it makes a smaller needle hole. The 10 oz brew tastes a bit watery from the SS-10. The lid mechanism on this new design feels a bit awkward since you first lift up on a spring loaded lever, which then pulls up the lid. The K-Cup remains upright on this model. The previous model SS-700 has a nice solid feeling loading mechanism that moves the holder so the K-Cup is at an angle facing you. I like the older mechanism much better than this cheap feeling one. I like the blue LED on the previous model SS-700 that highlights the water remaining. For some reason they removed the light on this updated model. Even the charcoal filter holder has a worse design on this new model. The plastic cage holds the filter somewhat near the water intake, whereas the previous model SS-700 the filter placement is more precise relative to the water intake. This one also has a slightly smaller water reservoir, and an overall cheaper feel. There are no improvements to the LCD display or programming options. I guess that this new model SS-10 is the result of financial engineering by Cuisinart managers looking to shave costs anywhere they can. This is a missed opportunity that will hurt Cuisinart. I'm returning this junk and hooking up my wonderful classic SS-700.
This is a great cold brew set. Fits in my fridge easily and is really easy to set up and clean. The filter works well with the larger grind, very little sediment in my coffee. This seemed like it needed closer to two nights to really get good, but it is super easy to use. Cleans really well and easily. I like that it has the handle and pour spout to keep it easy to store and pour at our convenience.
The filter drips for a while when pulling out, I tilt it on its side for a while before removing. Because of the length of the filter it's not the easiest to clean. The spicket sometimes drips and others it doesn't not sure why. I think this is over priced for what you get. It yeilds alot of coffee at once so make sure you have 4 or more people that drink it. I used Dunkin donuts ground coffee and there is a lot of fine grounds at bottom so use a larger grind bean. If you zoom or look close at 2nd picture you can see a lighter color at bottom that's the loose grounds.
This is an updated version of the Santos that had been around for 25 or more years; a vacuum double coffee pot based on an earlier design you'd find in stainless steel. Bodum, being a fine maker of heat-resistant borosilicate glass, made a double vessel pot that was brewed on the stove. Water boils in the lower vessel, rises via steam and volume to the top vessel connected by a rubber gasket. When the heat is removed, the bottom vessel shrinks in volume and the coffee is pulled into the coffee pot and ready to serve. The filter is simply a plastic sieve that attaches to the stem delivering the coffee below via a hook and chain. There was no warming plate, so you'd either serve it all or keep on a low burner. Now the ePebo has a heating plate to boil the water and it serves as a warming plate to keep the brew hot. Pros: Attractive and dramatic. Can make coffee at table. (or, maybe--see "Con") Will make 8 cups (these are six ounce European cups. Maybe four American mugs.) Minimum 4 cups. No filter purchase needed or waste paper. Uses a reusable plastic part as the filter Clean brew with no boiled flavor. Has a warming setting so coffee can sit and keep hot for second cups. Teaches principles of physics to your kids (do they drink coffee?) Con: HOW TO PROCEED if coffee refuses to descend to the lower vessel: If you grind your own coffee too finely, the suction created by the lower vessel will stop as the fines clog the filter. Medium grind only. Fine approaching mokka machine or espresso machine will not work. It will fail to pull the coffee back into the lower vessel. If it happens anyway (for example, you, like me, use a blade grinder and not a burr grinder and have some fines in the grind) then here is the fix. Turn the pot back on and let the coffee bubble back up again to the upper vessel. Then turn it off quickly. This can unclog the filter. My set was missing the curved carafe brush. The vessels are spherical with small openings and a curved brush is needed to clean them. I contacted Bodum and they're working on this. After a week, still waiting. The stand for the upper vessel. This is a somewhat fragile part that has a glass stem and when you've brewed your coffee, it's removed to stand on the upside down lid, with the spring loaded chain-hook detached. As it's TOP-HEAVY, though the base (lid) is wide enough, the socket-style connection is feeble and prone to being knocked over. KEEP AWAY from kids, dogs, cats and clumsy elbows. If you serve at table, remove the upper chamber and the lid to the back of a kitchen counter, and honestly, I didn't use the lid (viewed as feeble for a stand) and used a pitcher as a stand instead. Doesn't make less than 6 (Euro) cups. No single brew feature. The hook will nick and chip that bottom glass stem over time if you are careless. I had a Santos pot years ago and observed this occurring. Be careful. Don't let the chain "snap" into place. Summary: This is a dramatic coffee pot andcan make good coffee. Keeps it warm, well for at least 15 minutes. Set a timer and go back to keep the heat on, or pour into a carafe. The design has some less-than-smart features such as using the lid as a stand. The brush was missing, but the maker seems willing to rectify the missing part. UPDATE: not a peep after the "we got your email automated email" on replacing missing brush. Boo.
My parents are coffee snobs and they approve this one, so much that they bought another one and took it to Costa Rica! Nice quality and good price!!
The french press hasn't really changed much since Bruno Cassol's 1935 patent -- his major innovation was the helical spring around the filter. Pretty much the only difference from one french press to the next are aesthetics. Unless someone completely screws up the filter and plunger, the taste from one to the next should be no different (which is the beauty of the french press -- everyone's works exactly the same). That being said, most Bodum french presses have a functional feature that this Bialetti made press does not: a groove on the top at the back that ensures the opening on the lid is always aligned towards the spout. See my picture. Having used a french press to make coffee for many, many years, I'm not afraid to say that from time to time I forget to make sure the lid is properly aligned before I pour my coffee. Bodum's top saves you from having to make sure you have it on right. This is a bit minor, but the Bodum beaker has a larger, better designed spout. See my picture. The Bialetti certainly looks handsome, but there are no shortage of french presses on the market, and given that they all make coffee exactly the same way, it looses points to Bodum's better functionality.
I’ve been craving a really good cold brew that I can make for myself and friends and family! It made a very smooth tasting brew that I loved! The product itself is very easy to take a part and clean! Love love love!!
Just received this product and am very disappointed. I received a used product that had coffee stain marks and scratches still on it. This was a very unsatisfactory experience and will be returning this ASAP. I would not purchase this item if I were you!
Overall, I like the Stagg XF for its design and functionality. However, the quality control is quite subpar. The black paint coating on outside wall was also painted beyond the lip margins of the inside wall of brewer. I initially doubted reviews of other about QC, until I got my product.
Never have I been so thrilled my coffee maker broke on me as I am now because I would not have ventured into this if not for that! I am over the moon with this product!!! Makes coffee or latte's perfect!!!! No more need for coffee bean and tea leaf unless I'm traveling. It's THAT good!
