First things first, i'm a coffee-holic. Over the last several years I have transitioned from traditional brew, to a keurig, to espresso, and have now been alternating between store-bought and home-made cold brew (originally made in bottles that I filtered through cheesecloth) Now that I have my oxo system though, I am never going back to any other coffee. To brew, all I do is mix the water and coffee like before and let it sit for a day. The next morning though, instead of a time intensive messy cheesecloth fiasco I flip the switch to start the filtration, get what I need for that morning and let the rest drip dry while i'm at work. The resulting coffee is very strong but rich with flavor and so smooth, with absolutely no grit. I use generic, bulk coffee (a $12 40 oz bag ground in store should last me weeks) This system makes cold brew coffee so easy , cheap and produces such a high quality product that I doubt I'll ever be tempted to buy fancy coffee drinks from SBucks again.

  • I absolutely Love this coffee maker..... The ability to use pods or ground coffee is awesome..... I prefer it to the Keurig!!!

My coffee maker is only 2 months old and just stopped working out of no where. I tried calling the support team call is forwarded to a voicemail. No return phone and email doesn't work. I'm very disappointed at this point

  • Edited 3-10-2025 K-cups are designed to make only 6-8 ounces of coffee. This is not enough. Fortunately, this maker has a basket filter for bulk grinds. I will need to open two pods to make one 12-ounce serving. Keep this in mind if you're considering a K-pod system unless you drink very little or weak coffee. I had previously given this one star, due to the terrible design and lack of instructions on how to open the filter pod. It is not immediately obvious, even to someone as mechanical as myself, repairing things like automobiles, televisions, washing machines, being an electronics tech for over 40 years, etc. I finally had to pry this thing open with a dental pick tool. After this, the method to open would appear to be to hold it in both hands and press your thumb up on the plastic plastic piece shown on the left side of my photo. The other thing I will alert you to when you open this coffeemaker and wonder why the K-pod holder appears to be missing is that they pack it into the water reservoir. So, these annoyances aside, how does the Horavie K1500 fare? Being retired and living alone with absolutely no friends, I finally realized that I'll likely never be making coffee for anyone other than myself and I typically brew 12 ounces at a time. The compact footprint of the K1500 takes very little real estate from my very small counters. The fact that I can just brew straight into my thermal cup means no carafe to clean or pour from. The K-pods mean I don't need to bend a cone filter's edges, grind coffee beans, or measure in grounds. These may seem like trivial things, but once you retire, you start thinking about ways to reduce the little daily chores. At least, I have. This is why I've "Smartitized" the house, automating practically everything: lights, fans, heaters, stereo, television, etc. Aside from opening the filter pod, this K1500 is easy to deploy. The first thing is just to add 12 ounces of water to it, place a cup in the stand, an push the button on top. I like the fact they put it on top instead of on the side of the base. Very convenient. Empty the first "brewed" water and grab a K-pod. I'm assuming this is the primary reason people buy this coffeemaker. This is my first experience with K-pod makers. I would never buy the overpriced Keurig units, especially aftwr discovering they actually put cameras in some of them to try and prevent consumers from using other than Keurig coffee pods. What a jerk move. By the way, if you own one of these, just save the foil tops from Keurig pods and tape them to the top of your other brand pods. This K1500 does indeed brew a 12-oz cup in under 2 minutes. There is, of course, no hot plate, so I advise using an insulated cup. The blue one in my photo has a capacity of 16 ounces and works well. I also bought it on coffeemakers.us.com. The unit turns itself off. I add my sugar before brewing, so I need only to stir and snap on the lid. The temperature of the coffee is slightly on the lower side. The best coffee is brewed between 190 and 205 degrees Fahrenheit. This maker does not come close to reaching these temperatures. I measured the stream with a laser thermometer and found it to be around 160-165 degree at its hottest. This should be adequate for most people. The first coffee pods I purchased are Mel's Drive-In Diner Blend. I will not review them until I've tasted them more, but the initial opinion is okay.

  • This Nostalgia product (coffee maker) was all I’d hoped it would be. Matches my Kitchen Aid aqua counter top mixer perfectly !

Coffee snob here. Used the SCA website and CR for research. Settled on this one. Very happy with the automatic bloom cycle - no bitterness. The reports about the thermal carafe are true - coffee stays hot for hours. After 2 years of struggling with a Zwilling machine within its fiddly knob and multiple settings to get it started, the one-touch Start is so nice. As is the swing-out brew basket and the removable water tank. If I had one nit pick, it would be that the shape of the carafe requires holding it at a steep angle to get it to pour a 5-cup brew. And yes, a backlit display is needed. Would buy again.

This makes the best pour over coffee. Perfect cup every time. I just wish it had a lid to retain heat better, but for the price point I just pop a small plate on the top.

UPDATE: see attached photos. Same amount of water in tank, same amount of coffee in basket, same recommended filters.... DO NOT BUY First of all, it's odd that many of these reviews are for a different model than the one I am reviewing, which comes from the link in my purchase. I am reviewing this item: BLACK+DECKER 12-Cup Programmable Coffee Maker, DCM100B, Duralife Carafe, Easy-View Water Window, Removable Filter Basket This is the second coffeemaker of this exact model I have purchased. I guess I should have tried a different model the second time. I like the unit very much for looks and performance and price. One problem only: I brew 6 cups of water and 6 scoops of coffee grounds. And sometimes I get coffee grounds either splashed up on the internal interface or indeed in the brewed coffee itself. I even purchased the Disposable Paper Filters for BLACK+DECKER 12 Cup Coffee Makers recommended. It's as if the coffeemaker wants to make 12 cups and keeps forcing water even after the water is gone. Other than that, I enjoy the coffeemaker, I like the dependable auto brew, it's very easy to use and looks good on my countertop

The filter on this was horrible. My drink was “fuzzy” because the coffee seeped through the filter (even with coarse ground coffee like recommended). I also would have expected real glass for $30, not cheap plastic. I included two pictures so you can see all the coffee floating in my drink. I also already purchased a replacement cold brew coffee maker and the filters are completely different. You can see how this one (the bottom in the photo) could let coffee grounds to seep through.

  • Omg!! How flipping cute!!! I love it! I brewed a cup of water just to see how long it would take and it’s fast! Totally perfect for me! More colors options would be good but the mint is great! Fun!

This is probably a great coffee machine. But the conditions I receive it are shameful, this was for a gift and God forbid I handle something in these conditions. Awful handling by the shipper.

  • Well, I had a West Bend Percolator for years until the heating element finally brewed its last pot and it was by far 100 times the coffee pot this disaster was for me. I needed a percolator fast because I was going on vacation and read the reviews and it seemed like a good purchase. Oh no it was not...lol First thing was that one of the screws was missing from coffee pot itself (on left side of plug insert) where you insert plug into coffee pot. So when you went to unplug it after use and to rinse pot, half the receptacle on the coffee pot was about to come off. Second, I NEVER, EVER had grounds in my coffee when I used my West Bend percolator. I mean I used the same beans, same grind setting on my Cuisinart coffee bean grinder, same filter basket filter, and every single time I had grounds in the coffee, not a ton, but definitely noticeable. That takes you to the picture of the filter basket, it has slits on the side near the upper part of the basket and that's the culprit of the grounds in the coffee. My West Bend filter basket had none on the side of the filter basket. I do not have experience with any other percolators out there on the market and to be fair there may be others out there that are equal or even better than West Bend. I can tell you one thing, I was extremely disappointed with not only the quality of this product (poor quality control missing one of two screws, c'mon now you have to do better), but also the extremely poor functionality of this product. Again, do not waste your time or money on this one, definitely not worth it.
