Currently awaiting a warranty claim for this unit. I noticed the grounds were not saturated evenly and the flavor of the coffee was not as good as when I first got the unit, after about 1 month of having it. I noticed water only coming from 2-4 spouts, I ran 2 packets of descaler through the unit with no improvement. Bonavita was quick to reply to my email and I processed the warranty, currently waiting for my new unit. The unit worked well prior to this malfunction, great flavor and easy to use. I will be purchasing the larger glass carafe from Bonavita when it is available again, not a fan of the metal thermal carafe due to design.
First and foremost, I highly recommend a Chemex and love the product and coffee it produces. However, I would suggest buying directly from Chemex, or locally so you know what you are getting. I received a broken 8 cup classic with handle and promptly ordered a replacement. The first one and the second are vastly different. The first one was a gift, so I am not sure who fulfilled the order, but the second one came from Barista Labs (which is an authorized seller, per the Chemex web site). However, the second Chemex felt much cheaper than the first one I received. Here are the difference: First unit had an 'X' molded into the bottom, the second unit had a 'Chemex' stamp. First unit was much heavier than the second (even broken and missing the top portion it weighed more than the second unit (see photos) 574 grams vs 500 gram. First unit had a seem running from the spout to the handle, the second unit appears seemless. Looking at photos on the chemex web site, they all show a seem. Overall the first unit seemed to be better made than the second, even though it was broken (who knows what happened in transit). The second unit seems very light and fragile. Not sure if I should just send it back or test my luck with it. I have used it and it makes a great cup just like other chemex I have used. I am not sure if this is an issue with Chemex, or I got a counterfit one? I will check locally to see if I find any difference.
It’s just a nice coffee maker. Chances are you are reading this because you already prefer a thermal carafe because you hate the taste of burnt coffee with a hot plate. We have had this machine for a couple of months because we were at wits end with our Mr Coffee, which would frequently overflow. Nothing like waking up to a coffee maker that has overflowed all over your counters and into your kitchen drawers. We have only had this happen once with this coffee maker but it was because I forgot to put the carafe in. Total user error. I was pleasantly surprised at how EVERYTHING disassembles easily with this coffee maker for easy and effective cleaning. And it just feels sturdy - none of the parts are flimsy. Which is good because this is not a cheap drip coffee maker. It does take a while to brew (~15 minutes) and I wish it had a fresh timer like my cheap Mr Coffee did (timer to tell you how old the coffee is) but we purchased a cheap kitchen timer and have it near the maker. It is a little larger than we envisioned so be sure you have enough counter space. And you’ll also want to be sure you have enough space to give it room to breathe as it produces a lot of steam (you don’t want to have it under cabinets when it is brewing). We actually have it sitting on an old cutting board so it’s easier to slide under the cabinet when not in use. All in all, if you’re looking for a solid machine that is super easy to clean and makes good coffee - get this.
I ran across many conflicting resources on whether this model came with a baratza burr grinder and none of the other reviews mention it. I took the plunge and purchased on 12/4/24 and happy to say my unit came with the upgraded baratza burr grinder. I think I would have returned the unit if it didn't as they say "the grinder is more important than the machine". Very satisfied with the unit and pulling great shots from day one with minimal adjustments.
Some people are receiving products that work, I'm certain. But there's a quality control issue and units are being shipped that leak. (I'm not the only one that has experienced this. If you buy this, save the packaging and test it out immediately to determine if you got a dud. The photograph provided shows how much coffee leaks after several hours. I dump the coffee back in to brewing container about 3 times per brew... it's not the kind of hassle I signed on for. I've tested it multiple times and it has leaked every time. As far as I can tell, there's nothing particularly special about this product. You let coffee soak in a plastic container and then drain out the coffee into the beaker. You aren't paying for anything particularly convenient or innovative. So I wouldn't get too excited just because this was reviewed well on a popular site...
Stunning piece for a coffee lover like my boyfriend. A little big for a small apartment space.
Machine is super cool and easy to use. The coffee flavors we’ve tried so far are amazing and the froth the machine creates on top adds a touch that makes the coffee seem smoother. The Aeroccino milk frother is something I thought of as a gimmick at first adds the fancy cafe/coffee shop topping that I didn’t know I was missing. However, upon first use, which is a cleaning cycle of water only, a very large puddle under the machine appeared. When making coffee this becomes even more apparent due to the brown color. I’ve contacted Nespresso through their store here in the hope of a remedy (really want to have a non-leaking machine). Otherwise I’ll have to reach out to coffeemakers.us.com for a refund. I will update this review with information regarding Nespresso’s customer service and “fix” or coffeemakers.us.com’s response if I need a refund after all is said and done. ***UPDATE*** Contacted Nespresso by phone after no reply to email. Support person walked me through poking a paper clip in over flow hole and filler spout. Still leaked. They said since I had bought the machine through coffeemakers.us.com I must return through there. Easy enough through coffeemakers.us.com to send back. Ordered a Virtuo Next by Breville, not as cool of a machine but no leaks so far!
I love espresso, so i can enjoy it with this nanopresso!
This brewer is fantastic! I love the change in design Keurig has made to the brewer. It takes up less counter space while not sacrificing the amount of water storage (it holds 40 ounces of water!!). It has the ability to brew 9 different beverage sizes including the ability to brew a carafe. The touch screen makes this brewer extremely user friendly and allows you to choose the strength of the beverage (love this feature!). You can only brew Keurig K-cup pods in this brewer but that is not a problem as they have more than 400 different beverage options. I do wish the Keurig came with the carafe rather than selling it separately.
UPDATE: Hubby figured out you have to push down the Filter Basket inside the coffee machine. I never had to do that with any of our previous machines so I didn’t know. Operator Error. Works fine now. We’ll see how it holds up. Our coffee machine broke & we were without one for a week. Ordered this one yesterday & just got it today. Was setting it up to rinse before brewing the first pot of coffee just like the directions suggested. The water would not drip into the Carafe unless I held it up to push in the Brew Pause on the coffee machine. I tried it twice! So frustrating! Now I’m waiting on response from Cuisinart customer service to see if there’s a quick fix before I have to send it back.
Was a bit hesitant on how this was going to work out, but after just 1 brew, I can ho honestly say I really like this unit. I was looking for a larger unit that could handle a houseful of friends for the weekend. And the fact that this can brew close to 38 ounces of concentrate was a big selling point. I like my coffee bold and strong , so a mix of 4oz concentrate and 4oz of water over ice with a splash of half and half is now my summertime go to. Great flavor. It fits great in the fridge and the spigot is a great feature. After brewing I stored in a glass quart milk bottle. If it holds up, that’ll be icing on the cake
Liked the look of the unit on my counter. It’s hard to fill the water reservoir. No matter if I use the reusable filter that came with the unit or if I use a #4 cone shaped paper filter the grounds run over into the pot. This coffee maker is a disappointment compared to my old Bunn coffee maker. Buy again? No. Recommend? Only if you want a nice looking coffee maker on your counter
The this coffeemaker is awesome!
I just opened this coffee maker to find it used and damaged. The lid is scratched, the carafe is dented and clearly has coffee residue inside, the manual has coffee/water damage, the water tank has water residue in it as well. I am requesting a refund.
I am obsessed with Starbucks Nitrobrew. I started off an iced coffee drinker and was making $1 iced coffee at our local gas station and it was ok and i could make it the way I wanted. I then graduated to Dunkin Donuts but still wasn’t great. I tried the Starbucks cold brew and was happy then they came out with Nitrobrew and it was a game changer. You can buy the cans of it for $3.39-$4 a can, I drink at least 2 a day so I was spending an insane amount of $ on coffee. My husband bought me this for my birthday along with 6 bottles of Starbucks coldbrew, the larger bottles and it’s perfect. I have tried making my own cold brew with not the best success but I’m thinking with this, I can start trying again and save even more $$$ I am in love. One of the best birthday gifts ever. I feel like people don’t know what they’re missing with nitrobrew. It’s so smooth and creamy. It cuts any bitterness out completely and it’s just amazing. I love it!! I HIGHLY recommend this.
