This coffee/tea maker looks so chic, I love the color. Machine is light weight and can hold 10 cups. I don't see where I can set 12 cup coffee in the settings. It works great and quiet. The filter is easy to remove and wash. The glass is a bit thinner than expected. Overall, the function is standard but I do like the look. 5 stars!!
There are a few things about this coffeemaker we love! Size and option for water tank back or side, auto option sets up nice, of course pod and pot great feature but the stainless steel carafe and it’s 5 hour warm feature is FABULOUS! I’m not a fan of hot plates on coffeemakers. They get nasty looking and coffee gets that burnt taste! With this carafe coffee just stays hot! One thing that could be improved is there is no way to check if carafe empty before brewing so have to be sure to empty carafe. I watched a YouTube on set up and still overflowed it on one of our first few days using! Still rated a 5 star!
My trusty old thermal carafe pot lid finally broke completely (no replacement lid is available) so it was time to break out this Black & Decker model that I purchased more than a year ago in preparation for the fateful day. The unit came well-packaged & was a breeze to set up. The controls are simple & intuitive & it exudes the classic "Manly Guy" black & silver that I like. I prefer carafe style coffee makers as they don't continually cook your coffee with a warmer tray until it becomes a brackish pool of unsavory, spoon-melting, gruel. This is a 12-cup carafe which is difficult to find. Most carafes are only 8-10 cups. This was what drew my attention to this unit. It's a coffee maker so there isn't a whole lot to say about it other than it gets the job done in style & fills my belly with the yummy go-juice I crave each morning. It works well & keeps the coffee hot for several hours. It uses standard paper filters & the filter tray is removable & top-rack dishwasher safe. The carafe is very nice. Double-walled with a well-functioning pour button (my old carafe pour button was useless & I resorted to removing the lid to pour a cup), & it really is no-drip! Excellent job there, B&D! Extra Features: The display provides a post-brew timer that displays in 1 minute increments how long since the brew cycle completed up to 120 minutes. There are also settings for 1-4 cups, and a 3-step brew strength setting. The stronger you make it the longer it takes to brew a pot (at max it takes nearly 17 minutes to brew a pot). Settings are retained between cycles. There is also a "Clean" indicator & an Auto-clean cycle. Every 60 pots an indicator will illuminate on the display alerting you it is time to clean your coffeemaker. Using 3 cups of white vinegar & water, you press & hold the AUTO button for 5 seconds to engage the 60-minute Auto-Clean cycle. I have two small caveats with the unit: The first is the display is not illuminated. On the box the display appears to be back-lit with white illumination. Mine it not. Not sure if I have a bad display or the box photo is inaccurate? I would prefer to the display to be illuminated (LED please). Second caveat is, while it brews an awesome pot of coffee, it is the slowest coffee maker I have ever owned. Most coffeemakers I have owned take about 10 minutes to brew 12 cups. This one takes nearly 15 minutes (normal mode) to complete the task. Not a deal breaker as I will just set the auto-start for 5 minutes sooner, but if you are looking for a fast coffeemaker this isn't your best choice. These two issues aside, I am very happy with the coffeemaker & will order another to have a spare on hand (I'm like that). I am giving it only 4 stars due to the slow brew speed. EDIT: Having used this for the past week I must conclude that Black & Decker is on to something with the slower brewing speed. This coffeemaker produces the best & most consistently delicious coffee of any coffeemaker I have ever owned! No more hit or miss as with my previous brewing systems. Raising rating to 5 Stars!
I loved this when I got it a year ago and it's actually worked great. I've used it every day usually with the timer set so my coffee brews right before I wake up and it's been wonderful! Unfortunately after a few months althr plastic around the heat plate cracked. But I loved it so I kept using it. Then it cracked some more but still brews so I've kept using it. Then last week the whole heat plate has gone loose, one side sinking down which makes the pot not hit the release on the maker. I've had it almost exactly one year. At the time I bought it was like 100 bucks, so I thought it would hold up better than it has. It still makes coffee for what it's worth, but the bottom is busted and probably not safe/fire hazard to use. So I'll have to replace 😞 Updating to two stars from one simply because of the customer service. I contacted the manufacturer and they were really helpful in getting me a replacement free of charge. They made the process simple and we're very prompt. They did this despite my warranty even being expired. I hope the replacement lasts a while.
The unit I received appears to be defective and might be a potential fire hazard if left unattended. The unit starts running the brew cycle automatically without pressing the start button after it is initially plugged in, so you have to make sure you add water and coffee and have a mug in place before plugging it in. Another major problem is that after it runs a brew cycle and turns off, the unit turns itself back on automatically after a while and starts running another brew cycle. This requires the unit to be unplugged after each use.
Purchased this mini Keurig for my office & the machine didn't last one month. Out of the blue, it completely stopped working & the machine would no longer brew a simple cup of coffee. When I would try & brew a cup of coffee, only about 1/4 of the water I actually put in the reservoir would come out. I tried to return it, but it was past the return period online. I tried to put a claim in with the warranty company (Square Trade...or something along those lines) & they referred me to Keurig itself. I emailed Keurig & I've never heard back. This was the biggest waste of money! Don't buy! To make it even worse, the water reservoir area began to rust on the inside.
I was hesitant about this press when I saw reviews about it cracking. I made sure to “preheat” it as per the directions. Which makes sense. Common sense will tell you to not pour boiling hot water in a glass carafe. I only heat my water to 185-190• anyway. It made a perfect cup of coffee. It was easy to operate and easy to clean. The value for the money is great and it looks cute as hell on my countertop ❤️👍🏻
I have had this coffee maker for two years. It has made coffee no problem. But then you start to notice that the amount of water you placed in the machine starts getting lower in your cup. Now I am at the point that even though I put in a full mug of water I only get 1/3 back in coffee. I am the only person in the house that uses it. So since it stopped working before the warranty ended I called the company Sensio who makes the product. They told me what I needed to do and I sent them an email with photos, and my receipt along with my new address. I got an email on October 17th which was 13 weeks ago. I still have received my refund check so I just emailed them again. If you call customer service as I have done I end up on hold for 20 minutes which is unacceptable. And this is a Canadian company. Go figure. Based on this I would definitely not recommend this product. Or perhaps none of their products. If I could give it less then one star I would.
Update (new issue): So I've had this coffeemaker for less than two years now, and lately it's been presenting a new issue - somehow, when beans run through the burr grinder, some of the grounds are somehow getting past the filter basket and ending up on top of the carafe, perfectly dry. It's bizarre. I can't figure it out. Dropping another star because it's yet another hassle, having to dust off the top of carafe before messily pouring a cup (see below). This is a fantastic coffeemaker that's held back from perfection by one glaring flaw (and a few minor ones). It's a beautiful machine, though a bit large. Large enough that it's probably best without a cabinet over it, so you can access the pour chamber without having to pull the machine out every day. (I have mine near the sink so I can fill with the faucet hose.) It grinds beans quite well, though control over the grind is limited to three "strength" settings. I'm trusting that it's truly self-cleaning, because you can't access the grinder mechanism at all. I had the old blade-style Grind & Brew, and that was a nightmare to keep clean. It's pretty easy to program, though I haven't had much success trying to get it to run on its own correctly when using ground coffee (it always wants to grind, even with Grind Off). Coffee temperature is good, and the stainless carafe keeps it hot for about an hour or so (and no burning). The big, nearly unforgivable flaw is that carafe though. It spills when pouring. And not just a little... a lot. Like, enough to whereI have to pour my cups over the sink, and have to wipe down the carafe before I put it back in the brewer. It's a complete mess of a design, but the coffee's good and it's way easier to maintain than the old model, so four stars.
Replaced first one. Now second one is doing it. Won’t brew correctly. Leaves water in tank.
I got this for my fiancé for Christmas and he says this isn’t the best gift he’s gotten so far! Has the option of using coffee grounds, k-cups, using it as a drip, or just making a quick cup of coffee!
Shipped on time and in good condition, set up & use is easy. Comes with a reusable basket, so I don't need filters. Cleans easy. Cons: Where the water comes out into the coffee basket gets lots of backsplash and I feel like it is always dirty (see the sprayer-looking thing in the pics). You have to pour the pot slowly because if you pour into your cup fast, it spills - I am not coordinated enough for this in the morning, so it's a pain. The stopper for the "pause" is a bit loose and leaky sometimes, and you have to wiggle the pot to get it out while it's brewing. In the end, it's a coffee pot. It's useable and fine - meh. This is not rocket science.
I had this Krups 985 for about 17 years! I cannot kill it! I accidentally broke the coffee carafe and it costed me dearly because they do not make this model any longer. One of the best simply espresso machines I ever purchased.
La cafetera llegó muy sucia por dentro, por más que tratamos de limpiarla se quedó con manchas
It took me a long time to finally find a coffee maker that didn't have any plastic parts and one that brewed a rich, flavorful cup of coffee. I used to use a Cuisinart thermal coffee maker but I'd been reading so many articles about heating food in plastic containers and utensils that I began to wonder how safe having almost boiling water sitting in a coffee filter that was made of plastic while brewing could be. I sent out lots of emails to companies that made electric drip coffee machines trying to find one made of stainless steel but most were stainless only on the outside and many of those were lined with plastic. I finally found a percolating pot Presto 02811 12-Cup Stainless Steel Coffeemaker that was all stainless and had a really nice retro look to it, but the coffee just didn't taste very good, probably because it was boiled. We have a small french press coffee maker, but I wanted to be able to make a big pot and drink it over an hour or two and with the coffee grounds sitting in the bottom, the first cups were great, but the later ones, not so much. I finally came across this Chemex Coffee Maker that is all glass except for the trim. It seemed a little simplistic but I'd run out of options, so I ordered it. When I saw that smiling coffeemakers.us.com package I could hardly wait to open it and try the pot. I'd ordered some filters as well, but they hadn't arrived yet so I used some flat bottom filters that I had lying around. It took a long time for the coffee to drip through, like about 10 minutes, because the filter bunched up on the bottom, in the neck of the coffee maker and made it drip very slowly. But the coffee was nothing short of amazing! No off flavors from a plastic filter basket or built up residue from a pot that was difficult to clean. The coffee tasted incredibly fresh and clean. And I love the way this pot looks on my counter. It reminds me of something out of the 70's, living in Berkeley. Later that day I found some Melitta cone shaped filters at the grocery store which I decided to use until the Chemex Unbleached Square Coffee Filter arrived. They worked better and it was somewhat faster, but the best filters were the Chemex square ones. The process went much faster and the nice thing is that the filters stick out well past the top so it's easy to pull them out when you're finished and discard the grounds. It's strange, the Chemex filters feel thicker, but the coffee flows through them more quickly. It's definitely worth it to get the right ones. This coffee maker says it's 10 cups but coffee makers seem to measure cups differently than I do. If I fill it to the bottom of the wood trim, that's 6 8-ounce cups. I use a big coffee mug that holds something like 10 ounces. I love that this coffee maker is so easy to clean. I have a rounded brush that works perfectly that I bought at Wal Mart. I also like that the only thing the hot water and coffee touches is glass. It takes a little longer to make coffee than just dumping water into an electric coffee maker and flipping the switch, maybe 5 to 10 minutes with the new filters, but for the flavor of the coffee it's so worth the extra time. I use Hamilton Beach 40898 Cool-Touch Cordless 8 Cup Electric Kettle to heat my water and since the pot holds more than the electric kettle (It was originally purchased for tea.) I have to heat about 1-1/2 of the electric kettle pots. I purchased this top for the pot: Chemex Glass Coffeemaker Lid which helps a bit in keeping the coffee hot and looks nice. The only drawback for me is that the coffee doesn't stay hot like in a thermal coffee maker, and when I get down to the third or forth cup I have to put it in the microwave for 30 seconds or so. I'm looking now at some type of cover for the pot to keep it warm. I posted one tongue-in-check solution under the product photos. See what you think. For me, this coffee maker is entirely worth the extra trouble because the coffee tastes so incredibly good. I wish I had discovered it sooner.
