The finish started wearing off after 2 washes.
I thought by shelling out considerably more for a what I thought was a quality brand that I would get a unit that lasted. I bought this in October in 2016. The heat plate showed signs of starting to deteriorate after about a year but then rapidly declined after that where now it has rusted pretty badly. We had the same problem with a couple of cheaper brands and had to replace every 2-3 years. We took extra care to dry the pot off after use too. Funny thing is my mother in law has a very old drip coffee maker with a shiny heat plate that has lasted >25 years. So these manufacturers know how to do this right but just choose not to. They make the product last as long as the warranty period. One of these manufacturers should put a stake in the ground, design it right, say they have done it (finally) and they will sell a lot of units. We will not buy another Cuisinart until they have solved this problem.....
Update... Recived a new one and it works and perfect. If you like cold coffee this is the perfect way to make a ready to ude concentrate! Sadly I wanted this to be a slam dunk. As you can see by the photo Houston we have a problem. The spout dripped on to the bottom of my fridge so I put it in a tray hoping it would not continue. Well as you can see 12hrs later almost all of my expensive Hawaiian coffee gone. I am getting a new one sent and will update my stars and review when we receive it.
I ordered the 8 cup because I wanted ability to program it so it turns on in the morning by itself. The display is very, very tiny, but if you're someone that doesn't care about a clock and just wants to be able to program a small coffee maker, this coffee maker is for you. It's small, convenient, and does exactly what I need it to do. The plastic on top feels a bit flimsy, but it closes securely. It brews a full pitcher in about 5-10 minutes and the coffee strength depends on how much coffee you put into the convenient reuseable filter that comes with it. All in all, very pleased with this coffee maker.
I’m sure the product is fine what I don’t like is the PACKAGING!!! Are you kidding. No box 📦 to cover it up thanks 🙏🏽 god for my wonderful neighbors because it’s more than clear what I ordered. 😡😡😡😡🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Side by side comparison of the old version (right) and the new one (left). Do they make the same coffee? Yes. Does it taste the same? Yes. But little changes make this version inferior to the old one, which my husband says I've had since at least we met (in 2006). First, you'll note that the clock is no longer a bright red LED but a lesser digital version. I don't need to see it in the middle of the night, but even up close to program for the next day, the red is much easier to read. Next, the water holder. The design of the version prior separated the water from the grounds and there was no way the water could drip into them before you started brewing. In this new version, the space to put the water is narrower, and you could accidently pour water over the grounds before you want to and drip into the carafe. Finally, the basket is not easy to line up. The last version had a little notch so you knew it was secure and could only be in one position. This basket has smaller handles on opposite sides, and as earlier reviews mentioned, it can be hard to seal the top. I haven't tried the delay and brew feature beacause I drink all 20 oz. in one morning, and I don't think the water window is any added value. So my coffee tastes the same but the experience is not as user-friendly. We had to replace it because the bottom of the unit was leaking after 15 years and it was not worth fixing. But the replacement is not as good a product.
Love the color, works good, just used it for the 1st time today (4/6/25) and it went smoothly. Gave it 4 stars cause my tumbler came with a crack in it, luckily my coffee didn't leak into the inside of my tumbler & hopefully I dont have no issues with this crack in the future. It's easy to clean and use 👍🏿
I ordered 2x 20 ounces French press. Took them in a really bad condition ( damaged )and quality is pretty low. I issued a refund and upgrade to more quality brand.
Maybe it works. Maybe it doesn’t. I’ll never know. My unit delivered without the washer required to hold the spring-mounted “Pause” actuator in place. Given the actuator is designed to make positive contact with the lid of the carafe during the brewing process, I am reluctant to run the unit without it. I attempted to call the customer service number on the KAFFE website, but after about half a dozen rings I only got an eardrum piercing squeal (I attempted this twice). The only other way to make contact is via e-mail, which requires you to also supply your name and phone number, so I opted to not go that route. As such, I cannot recommend this 5 cup coffee maker from Kaffe.
I have many coffee makers but I always fall back to the regular non-fancy coffee maker during the work week. After having my black and decker version and size of this coffee maker for 3 years of heavy use...the button fell off. I bought this coffee maker as a replacement and it's exactly as listed. This coffee maker is made out of good material, the coffee arm that's seen when opening the coffee maker is in standard pour over placement to actually give a stronger more rich final product compared to the black and decker. Pot size is 25oz which is plenty for most. Coffee comes out nice and hot. No fancy timers or clocks, a simple led lit power switch, add water and coffee and your good.. With good care this should last over 8 years. This so works with wifi smart switches that can make this somewhat automated with smartphone software and daily scheduling, the coffee maker isn't smart but would turn on and off via phone with a smart plug (sometimes that's not the case).
This personal-sized pour-over set is gorgeous. I have tons of coffee-making gear. But I never owned a pour-over until now. This one is just the size to make yourself a single cup of coffee. And if you have all the fancy double-walled glass cups it fits right in! It seems pretty delicate but I have hand-washed it and clunked it in the sink it might be sturdier than it seems. It makes a great cup of java and the process is very soothing and relaxing to get your morning started or to end your day. No judgments!
This keeps my coffee hot, but it’s too small, not as stated.
After realizing that i was throwing away so much coffee every day from my 12 cup. (And now the only one drinking coffee at home during the week). I wanted to downgrade my coffee maker size to a 4 cup. This little 5 cup guy brews great coffee. Simple and quick. I do not have problems with the caraffe spilling ... but I pour slowly to avoid that.
First one developed a small crack at the end of the spout. The crack got bigger then one day I noticed a chunk of glass missing. By this time it was well past the return date but I figured maybe I hit it on the sink or something so I ordered another one. This one didn't even make it a month before I noticed a small chip missing at the tip of the spout. I was being extra-careful handling this one to make sure I didn't cause any damage. I included a photo with the chip highlighted. It's small, but last time it started as a small defect I ignored then ended up with a square chunk of glass missing from the spout. I kinda wonder where that little chip of glass went... hopefully I didn't end up pouring it into my coffee and drinking it. Not bothering to return because I already tossed the box, etc. I bought a new pour over coffee maker from a different vendor. Made sure it was not from 'Unbreakable' this time around. I would not buy any product from this vendor again. Because of the possibility I could end up drinking a piece of glass I consider them unsafe.
First off, I ordered the "green" version because it was like, $2 less. To my delight, green is actually a lovely shade of teal! It's so easy to make my essential morning coffee. I set water to boil, add a few scoops of coffee grounds to the filter, take my now boiling water off the stove, walk away while I wrestle my 5 year old, come back, pour a little water on my coffee grounds (it's called blooming?!), play turn or two of words with friends, then pour the rest of the water into the filter. Once it's done dripping, I pour it into my mug, add a drop of maple syrup (yum!) and start my day! Best coffee ever. Oh! And easy to clean. I run water through the filter holding the filter upside down. This prevents the tiny grounds from getting stuck anywhere. When the caraffe has cooled, I give it a rinse. Air dry. Thank you Phil for such an awesome product! I'm in love. With the Coffee Gator I mean. Although I'm sure you're a great guy.
