I was looking for a new french press to replace the Bodum press because we lost the handle and didn't want to spend the money for a new Bodum when I still had most of the parts. I found this particular french press because is was a lightning deal on coffeemakers.us.com Day. I got it for a great price and it turned out to work great! I am very pleased with this french press and waited several weeks so I could really test it out before reviewing. So, my first thought when I received this french press is that I have to unscrew the handle from the glass carafe to clean it. I didn't think I would like that I can't easily pull out the carafe from the handle, but now I know I won't lose the handle and the glass will most likely not drop out of my hands when wet. Plus, I do have the option to unscrew the handle from the carafe. A french press is never easy to clean, but it makes wonderful coffee. I only have suggestion the company could improve on. The metal pieces could be of sturdier quality and I wished the screen's center hole had some reinforcement around it as it looks like it could tear with use. However, they did provide extra screens, which impressed me when I opened the box! I have not used the accessories that came with the french press, but I thought it was a nice touch for those who are getting a french press for the first time. I almost wish the accessories were left out so that the money for the product would go towards the metal quality of the press. The plunger is very smooth and easier than Bodum's plunger. I like the look of this french press and it has nice clean lines for a modern kitchen. I would definitely recommend it.
Love how small and simple this is to use. Brews very quickly, easy to clean.
As an avid coffee drinker, I always try to find new ways to brew, drip and extract coffee. Over the years, I have become better at finding tastier beans, refining the process behind grinding and brewing. Not only is this french press have excellent quality glass, the build of the french press is of quality. The only cons that I have found is the fraying of the filter discs, which need to be replaced ever so often. It really depends on the frequency of use, but when the wire mesh starts to fray, it can be difficult to effectively clean and reuse the press. So don't be cheap like me and try to hold out. Once the mesh starts to fray, replace it and don't cut yourself!
Ran a first cup of just water fine, then when I put a coffee pod in it all I got were drips until I just turned it off (video and picture 1). Researching online suggested cleaning the lower needle (though a brand new machine shouldn't need that). After that I ran hot chocolate through it fine, but when I tried actual coffee the next day it was completely full of grounds (picture 2). Before the pic I had already cleaned up everything I could that was floating at the top, in hopes that it was just that. Then I scooped up just some liquid, not touching the sides of the cup, and still saw all of those grounds in it. I didn't have my camera on me when I dumped it, but there was so much more at the bottom of the cup. I've bought this model before (in-store) and had no issues, and I'm hoping to get a replacement after my return goes through if it's still on sale.
I love this coffee maker. The thermos keeps the coffee hot for hours so no more burning coffee in a glass carafe. The extra one cup attachment I have yet to try so cannot comment. The 10 cup tank is perfect for me and my family. It also is programmable. So I can wake up to the smell of my favorite blend. And, it is slim so it takes up less counter space. LOVE. LOVE. LOVE I give it a 10.
I love the functionality but now my mesh strainer is coming apart.
So far so good. I use it to strain loose tea leaves and it works great. Only reason why it is not a 5 star product for me is because the glass feels so fragile. I handle it with care because one bump it’ll probably shatter.
Please see the pictures for the temperature of the brewed coffee. The 12 cup brewed at 183° and the four cup at 181° far below optimum temperature for brewing great coffee. To put water and coffee into the pot you must slide it forward because the water well isn’t removable and the lid on top of the pot is too tall for opening under the cupboard. The scoop for coffee is a small little thing. If you want to make 12 cups you’ve got to count out 12 scoops. This could have been remedied by adding a bigger scoop on the other end of the little scoop. Incidentally, that little scoop could easily measure coffee for a mug or travel mug but those aren’t marked on the carafe. Not for us...we sent it back. My apologies for the sidewise photos. They are not sidewise on my phone but load that way into the review.
We have had this machine for a couple of years now. It keeps producing great hot coffee with every brew and still looks brand new. It takes 15 minutes to brew a 12 cup pot and should be cleaned with vinegar and water on a monthly basis. We have forgotten and clean it once every three months and it still makes coffee that tastes amazing. This machine has a preprogrammed timer to wake up to coffee if you choose. It is about a 3 out of 10 noise level and makes the whole house smell good enough to get everyone out of bed!
Large cracks to bottom front side to side, also along heat plate. Totally unexceptable.
I love this Coffee Maker! I’ve had two now, one of the previous model for nearly 6 years and then this newer version. There were Pros and Cons to each model as another reviewer has mentioned when giving comparisons so I won’t address those here. I want to address the EEO error code that can occur that frankly, I didn’t even know about, but my husband frequently mentioned he’d experienced. I brushed him off. Keep in mind we’ve had this machine for 2 years now and I’d NEVER experienced the EEO error code when fixing my own cup of coffee, until one morning when I was fixing a cup of coffee for my husband. I pop in his coffee pod, hit the brew button, it starts to drip and then bam I get an EEO code. I thought well darn, maybe he’s right about this EEO code and I’m going to have to replace this machine after all, but I didn’t want to because I REALLY like this unit’s features. For one reason, we drink different brands of coffee which is what makes single serve coffee makers so convenient. For another, I love the added convenience of this particular single serve for the fact that I don’t have to wait for the water to heat up like I do with other brands. You just turn it on, pop in the pod, press the brew button and it INSTANTLY starts brewing without the wait for the water to heat. HELLO, who wouldn’t love that feature?! Anyway, I digress. Back to the EEO error message that shows up ONLY when my husband’s coffee pods are used. I got to thinking about this and why it only occurred with his Starbucks pod so I decided to do a little investigating. I googled of course, but nothing worthwhile came up. Then I decide to actually cut the pods apart and VOILA, I see the difference and the likely culprit! My husband’s Starbucks pods have this extra plastic filter besides the paper filter. I’ve included photos to see the difference between our pod filters. I’ve concluded that the extra plastic filter in the Starbucks pods gets misaligned with the machine’s puncture needle and then the machine can’t dispense the coffee, thus the EEO error message. In the photos you can see what appear to be needle marks in the plastic filter where the needle missed the intended filter holes after I made a few additional attempts to get the machine to brew this pod. Again, I personally love this coffee maker, so for those of you having EEO errors, I recommend you check your pods FIRST, before you give up on this awesome machine! Why the need for the added plastic filter in the Starbucks pods is even necessary, I’ve no clue. Seems useless to me and clearly a hindrance. We are going to try the handy reusable pod that comes with this coffee maker and ground Starbucks coffee instead of the Starbucks pods.
This is beautiful. It’s heavy and solid. It weighs over 2 pounds. It would be good for camping or traveling, but I wouldn’t want to carry it in a backpack. I haven’t used it because I missed that it needs a Nespresso or Nespresso equivalent pod. I didn’t think I had to use a pod. I can’t speak to the quality of coffee, but this machine seems to be very good quality. It comes with a nice velvet bag. I think it would make a nice gift. Mine arrived fully charged.
I'm not easy to impress but this product has severely missed the mark. This is a low quality item. Currently looking for a high quality replacement as mine started retaining water internally and does not appear to come apart for further cleaning/drying. I wanted to like this, but this seems like it would mess with your health over time if it even continues to work. Would not buy again. Pros: - is rechargeable - adapters are nice - price is low so a beginner could get started Cons: - battery is limited to maybe 2 nice cups of coffee - machine internally retains water over time; no way to disassemble - the temp sensor where you load water is made of a metal that breaks down. This is located in a difficult to clean area so you may be ingesting metals with your coffee.
fast brewing coffee maker. I dont like the fact that the heating plate inside of this rusts and you end up drinking the rust and getting sick from it. I havent even had this coffee machine more than a month or so and i couldn't figure out why i was tasting rust. I opened up the lid and took it apart and saw the little heating hot plate was goopy with rust on it, around it and under it where the water flows into the coffee maker. I would advise against buying this unless you wanna be sick. Not made well due to this feature. They need to remove this feature, noone wants to drink rust, I wish I could get a refund, total waste of money and a HEALTH HAZARD!!!!! I would like my money back
This is a great little cold brew coffee maker. Perfect for home use. Comes with its own bottle. Scrub brush which is nice. The jar is solid. I was able to secure the plastic lid tightly. I like that the filter is made of metal and keeps the coffee grinds intact in the filter. This made a strong, cold coffee brew. I also like that the jar has a guide for how many cups of water You are making. This would make a great gift for somebody who likes coffee.
