I bought this over the holidays when the price was discounted to $9.99 and it gets used every day. I like that the display is on the bottom. I have enough things in my kitchen with a clock (stove, microwave, etc.), I don't really need another appliance to tell me the time -- but I do occasionally use the programmable feature, so the clock is necessary. Having the water gauge on the side is a bonus. I can brew a decent tasting full pot of coffee in under 10 minutes. HOWEVER... Could this have been designed/made better? Probably. Getting the basket on/off for cleaning by lining up little plastic nubs is a phenomenal pain. I specifically wanted to be able to pull the carafe out mid-brew to pour myself a cup. This has never worked. AT ALL. There is nothing to stop the drip.
I was making coffee yesterday morning, poured hot water over the coffee and filter, then turned around to let the coffee brew. I heard a "SNAP" sound and instantly knew what had happened: the heat caused the pourover to crack. Now I may not be a manufacturer of ceramic products, but it would seem to me that if you make something specifically for use with hot water, it should hold up to hot water without cracking from the heat. And I'm not an idiot: I have always warmed up the pourover with hot water from the sink so it's not a sudden cold-to-hot transition — shoot, it's not even a "room temperature-to-hot" transition! And still it broke on me five weeks after it was purchased. I've only been using it about three times a week, too. I guess I should have shelled out for the stoneware version made by the more expensive brand — I guess I learned my lesson!
I use mason or other vintage canning jars for nearly everything, so am always on the lookout for ways to make them more efficient. This pitcher works very well for my kitchen needs. Leftover sauces, coffee, puree soups and more can be easily poured out of the container without having to remove a cover, spoon out what's inside and have another item to clean up afterward. Another bonus is that it's clear, so I can easily see what's left to use up when I open the fridge door. I am very happy with the product quality.
I loooove this beautiful coffeemaker. My favorite color is turquoise (which changed a couple years AFTER my husband painted the kitchen orange, my prior favorite color😆). Thankfully the two colors complement each other, but I digress. Anyhoo, I can’t find a ton of turquoise kitchen items, but thankfully aqua is an acceptable second best and that’s a really popular color for the kitchen. So I added this in and so far it’s run just as it should and I LOOOOOVE that it has a timer so I can set it up ahead for when I stumble into the kitchen all bleary-eyed after being up too late yet again the night before. So yes, if the color makes your heart happy, snag this and run with it! You won’t regret it!
The Bialetti cold coffee brewer is a great hassle-free way to get near perfect cold brew coffee in your home, one that matches the premium brand brews sold in stores. If you've had a cold brew coffee before then you know how different it is and if you haven't - Think of it as Cold Coffee's cooler cousin. Unlike hot brewed coffee which uses heat to extract coffee , the cold brew method uses time & patience to extract it at room temperature over a 18-24 Hour period . The resulting coffee concentrate has a very different taste profile - Its sweet and does not taste bitter and also very 'smooth' than regular coffee. You'll need little to no sugar with it and goes equally well with cold coffee or hot milk DESIGN & BUILD - Cold Coffee brewers are designed mainly to take out the hassle out of a process which otherwise accomplish with stuff you already have in the kitchen and this brewer excels at that - The main jar of the brewer is made of dishwasher safe glass with an airtight cap (very important to get a max. strength concentrate) - The basket filter to hold the coarse coffee grounds is large and more importantly wide .. much wider than the ones you find in a Takeya or Hario Brewer. This allows the coffee grounds to be loosely packed and float more freely enabling better coffee extraction - The filter basket features a steel mesh to hold in the coffee grounds which works well in holding them back , although depending on the type of grounds or grinder you use , it will not hold fine coffee dust and additional filtration may be necessary - It produces coffee concentrate which is good for about 12-14 cups of coffee MY PERSONAL RECIPE Coffee is art and you'll find a lot of variations in the different methods of making a cold brew and after a lot of experimentation and wasted coffee grounds - Here is the one that I think that produces little drops of heaven: - For example, the included manual says that you can let the coffee brew for 12-18 hours either at room temperature or in the refrigerator. However I feel that brewing at room temperature (not more than ~75F though) for a FULL 24 hours works best. Just leave it on the kitchen stand - Another thing that the instructions say is that open the lid and agitate the mixture by rotating the filter basket a few times every 4 hours. Well, DONT ! This is a sealed system that should not be opened until you ready to drink coffee (after about 24 hours). By opening the lid you are letting all that gaseous aroma out which would have otherwise infused with the concentrate . I just shake the whole sealed jar instead - You can absolutely use your favorite fine ground coffee but it makes filtration necessary (most of the coffee that makes through the steel mesh will settle down after 24 hours though) - At the end you get beautiful , full of aroma and smooth tasting coffee concentrate . - For hot coffee use a 1 : 1 ratio of water and coffee concentrate and for cold coffee use 1 : 2 ratio of water and concentrate. Dilute as required to your personal preference - Just keep in mind that cold coffee brewing uses a lot of coffee grounds - you get less coffee concentrate per pound of ground coffee than you would with hot brewing. But the difference in taste makes it worthwhile... FINAL THOUGHTS Overall the Bialetti cold coffee brewing system gives you near perfect cold brew coffee which compares better than a Takeya or Hario brewer and I feel only the OXO brewer beats its when it comes to cold brewing , but that's a tad bit more expensive than the Bialetti. Hard to go wrong with it.
this percolator makes the best coffee I’ve had in a long time! the taste is clean and flavorful and fresh. the keep warm feature keeps it HOT, not just warm. and pouring it from a graceful spout is so elegant compared to a carafe! no tubes to clog up either. as for grounds settling in the bottom, not a problem, even with regular ground coffee.
I reviewed this unit in depth check out the related videos tab for an in depth review to see if it’s right for you. This unit is perfect for a esspresso culture beginner or experienced user (I knew nothing about espresso making before this and now I couldn’t live without it!) I highly reccomend this unit! I've had the American Press for over a year now and it is by far the most unique, enjoyable, and easy way to make coffee that I've tried so far. Learning how to use it is not difficult. I personally got the hang of it on my second or third try. I'm sure you saw a few videos concerning the brewing process, and once I did it for myself it was truly fascinating once I did it for the first time. Clean-up is also crazy fast. The quality of the product is way above average (attached are pictures of the product after a year of use). All of the components are solidly built and has no flimsy-ness whatsoever. I wouldn't be surprised if this thing lasts to pass on to my future grandchildren. There is room for improvement, however. Most of the components are made of plastic, the insulated cup and the coffee pod, and I am not the biggest fan of hot water touching these things over prolonged periods. Though again, these parts are good quality plastic. If it is possible, a stainless steel cup and pod would be awesome. I also find the size to be a bummer sometimes because it only pumps out 12 fl oz. Some days I feel like a little larger cup of coffee would be great, or a family member wants a taste of great coffee too. Lastly, I think the price is a bit steep, but considering the quality and convenience, this is not a huge issue. Here are a few PRO-TIPS that I have learned from experience and others that I think would benefit someone getting this product for the first time: -If you are grinding your coffee beans, coarser is better. If it is too fine, the pump will be near impossible to push down. Too coarse though, and the coffee might come out weak. Fine-tuning the desired consistency of grind takes a little time and you may go through a few lackluster batches of coffee before getting it just perfect. -To clean-up, empty out the used coffee grinds and rinse all the components thoroughly. Then put a dab of dish soap in the pod and close everything up, fill the insulated cup with warm water, and start pumping with the soapy pod. After a few pumps and feel that the insides are cleaned sufficiently, rinse out the components and let air-dry. Voila, all ready for next morning! -Personally, I have found the suggestion of letting the coffee grinds steep in the water for too long before pushing down makes the coffee really strong and acidic. If you prefer a more forgiving and weaker cup, let the coffee steep for only 10 seconds, and then pump down. This part again takes some time to fine-tune to get the desired cup of coffee. Do not give up, you will get the hang of it!
My order arrived without the filter. Essentially this a mason jar with a water bottle top since it cant be used to brew coffee without the filter. I contacted the vendor and they shipped me the part that was missing from my cold brew kit. I have been making cold brew coffee with it for a couple weeks and it has been working great. It is very easy to use. Just fill the mesh filter with ground coffee and add water. I have been leaving the coffee overnight and removing the filter the next morning. The coffee comes out strong enough that once I remove the filter I can top up the jar with water and not end with diluted tasting cold brew. The only downside is that this uses a lot of coffee for the amount of coffee it makes when compared to brewing hot coffee. Overall I think its well worth the cost though when compared to the cost of buying pre made cold brew. If it had not been for my issues with the missing filter I would have rated this five stars.
The 64oz cold brew jar is perfect! No complaints. The Mason Jar look is so cute too! The size is perfect to sit in the fridge and not take up too much space. The filter will hold plenty of grounds for that perfect cold brew. I use 1 1/4 cup grounds for a stronger brew and it could hold more if I wanted. Easy to clean up. After brewing over night in the fridge I let the grounds sit to dry a bit in the filter then dump, brush and rinse! The rubber seal on the filter as well as the rubber seal on the lid fit snug and yet easily removable for cleaning. Once the filter is removed I add a bit of water to the jar and shake. It has never leaked. The handle is sturdy and allows for an easy pour. Honestly if you wanted to use it for something other than coffee you totally could! Just remove the filter and wah-lah! I am so happy with this purchase!
I got this to replace my previous five buck one which was the exact same model minus the plastic casing. It’s a good size, useful, easy to clean and store. The glass jar is thin and delicate, that’s why my previous one cracked and started leaking. The solid plastic case protects this one while the beverage only comes in contact with the glass. I recently learned that the press can also be used as a hot milk frother and I love that feature. It’s like making coffee shop coffee at home :)
Love the coffee pot but I ordered white and received black. We will keep the black to avoid hassle of returning.
Package arrived in manufacturer box, no additional box with padded packaging. Upon opening the box we noticed the hot plate was chipped off, with the black shards in the box. For the price, this thing should be packed a little better. Returning. Hope the next one arrives intact!
I wanted to leave a review for those who rely on them, like I do! I did so much research and searching for the perfect drip coffee maker for us. I came across this Braun and had never heard of the brand but loved the reviews! We chose the white one and this coffee maker is BEAUTIFUL in our counter and makes a fantastic cup of coffee! We love our choice. We received it within a week of ordering and it feels heavy and well made. I gave it 4 stars simply because once you’ve brewed a pot of coffee, it makes a cracking noise as the heat plate kicks in. At least that’s what we think it is .. and I think it’s only because it’s still so new. Other than that, everything works very easily and efficiently.
Convenient at a cost. Not like the Keurig that drains from k cup to cup with minimal cleanup. This drains out and around the pod then out of that holder into the main support cup of the coffee pot. From there it flows out to the cup. The pic is the mess between the 2 holders after brewing 2 cups back to back. Only way to clean the main area shown is to unplug and wash it in sink with a brush.
