Is it just me or do others have issues with a company selling a product that gets daily handling with thin glass that is guaranteed to break? I babied it and actually got a year out of it. Never would put in the dishwasher. It's not cheap either and filters are costly although that is not the point. Must be something about Borosilicate glass that I don't know? Come on Chemex, don't want to believe it breaking is part of your business model but wondering. Anyway I won't buy again. Too bad as I like its purity and coffee results. Fool me once....
The item worked perfectly for the first four months, but unfortunately, it has stopped functioning properly. Typically, a light is displayed when the machine is plugged in, but as shown in the attached picture, the light is no longer on. Given that the product malfunctioned after only a few months of use, I believe this issue is not due to any fault of our own. I would appreciate it the company would review this situation and consider providing a replacement for the defective item.
SO easy to use. I use it everyday and I love it!!
Took the product out the the box, washed it by hand, allowed it to dry and discovered water between the double glass assembly. This defect is not cosmetically pleasing and could potentially harbor pathogens due to stagnant water from washing the vessel over time. Suggest that changes be made with manufacture to ensure quality of production.
Although in the title it says USA 120V, but the unit I received is actually 250V, very disappointing and will return
It’s a compact, stylish, and budget-friendly espresso machine, this model delivers exceptional value for the money. Performance-wise, the machine heats up quickly and delivers consistent results. The built-in frother is a pleasant bonus, allowing me to craft lattes and cappuccinos effortlessly. Cleaning and maintenance are straightforward, adding to the overall convenience.
I was really excited to receive this product as I thought it would change the way I drink coffee. The first time I used it, it came out of the box already assembled. I didn't take it apart, but I did wash it before using. I read the instructions booklet as well as watched video tutorials on how it's supposed to be done. The first time, it was a success. I let it steep for about 24 hours and then had it slowly drip into the glass beaker. I disassembled the pieces and cleaned them by hand. A few days later I reassembled them, I confirmed with the instructions that the two lines are supposed to align when you assemble it back together. I made sure they aligned perfectly, even though it still felt a tad bit loose. It seemed like it could have been screwed a bit more on, but I thought the instructions knew best. I filled up the base with the coarse coffee grounds and set it in my fridge to steep. I opened my fridge a few hours later and found that coffee water had been leaking out of the device ever since I set it in there and there were pools of coffee water all over my fridge. I had set the product on the top shelf so it dripped down onto everything in the fridge so not only did I have to wash all the food in my fridge, I had to figure out how to remove all the shelves so I could wash those clean too. It was a nightmare. And yet, the coffee I was able to still salvage was pretty good, so I thought I would try this again. This time, I was skeptical. I put the product in a large bowl so that if it did leak, it would be caught in the bowl. I carefully assembled all the pieces together again, making sure I placed the filter in just right and that the lines lined up. And sure enough, it leaked. Luckily though, this time the mess was contained inside the bowl. I've tried the process again a few times after that, at times screwing it just a tad bit tighter even though the lines didn't match up, thinking that would be my problem. No such luck, it has leaked every single time. While it does make delicious coffee, this doesn't seem worth it to me.
I was excited about this but when I opened it up the first time, smelly old water leaked out and then a used coffee capsule fell out. This is disgusting. Very annoyed because I wanted to take this on an upcoming trip. I have already processed a return and will update when I receive a (hopefully) new product, as ordered.
I wanted a single serve coffee maker for I am the only one in my house that drinks coffee. I originally ordered the Hamilton beach one cup coffee maker ($42 ). I ended up returning that bc though it "looked nice" it retained water and only brewed 1/2 of the water I put in. I decided to order something less fancy and trusted(also half the price) so I ordered this. Though it may not be specifically a "one cup maker" I can add the amount of water I want to brew and make it that way. It heats up and brews just as fast as a one cup maker and I have no mechanical issues with it. It even has a timer so it will start brewing for me in the am all on its own, that's pretty wonderful! Its small, simple and it works! I should have got this one in the first place! It didn't come with a coffee scooper just the basket the filter goes in. (I've seen people ask about a scooper). I would highly recommend this little guy :)
Small footprint. Beautiful design. Superior materials. Easy to set up. Easy to use. Delicious pour over coffee without all that pouring. I followed the manufacturers water to coffee ratio recommendation. I used the same 55g of coffee grinds I used in my 12C automatic coffee maker but ground in a burr grinder a little finer for pour over coffee. I used 32 oz of water instead of 48 oz. The coffee produced was not stronger yet tasted a lot better. I love dark roast black coffee. I’m happy. Worth the money for me. We won’t be wasting coffee anymore.
Super sturdy but still elegant & stylish. Looks great on counter and table.
I waited a full 9 months out of college to buy the “right” coffee machine. It needed to be versatile, and make high quality brews at guilt-free low cost per cup. The good news is I found it, but on the other hand, I’ve become something of a coffee snob ever since. In minutes I can make the same quality pour-over of a nice cafe cup with just a few button presses. Even with Starbucks beans and xBloom filters, a cup of coffee comes out to under 50 cents, making this a worthwhile investment. Overall I’m very impressed and will update the review should anything change.
I have had this coffee maker for just about a year and it's top notch for the price. It's also certified by the SCA. Other certified coffee makers cost double or even triple. They look at things like proper water temperature, brewing time, and ability to brew within the SCA Golden Cup recommendations. Definitely a little in the weeds but, it does brew a great cup. I also love how I can brew just a standard insulated mugs worth. My wife is not a fan of hot coffee so this is a great feature for me. I had one issue with the Removable filter holder. Where the drip stop function would not actually stop the drip. Upon further inspection it appeared that I lost an o-ring or gasket that attaches the stem that moves up and down. I was still under warranty (by only a about a week or two) so, I called support hoping to just get a new o-ring/gasket. Support was great and they wound up sending me a whole new removable coffee filter holder, free under warranty. Retail for that would have been $12.95. My old filter holder was completely functioning except for that missing part. Now that my warranty is up, I figured it would most definitely be possible to lose that o-ring agian. Not wanting to spend 13$ plus shipping if it happened again, I went to my local HD hardware store. After some trial and error I can confirm that #78 O-Ring (7/16" O.D. x 1/4" I.D. x 3.32") works as a suitable replacement. It was about 3$ for a pack of 10. I tried to capture this issue in my photos. One of the pictures you can see a bit of light towards the bottom center. Then the other picture shows the above mentioned replacement o-ring installed and no light showing. Confirmed no leaks and have brewed multiple pots/mugs of coffee since installing. Outside of that one issue it has been solid through and through. A+ Product, A+ Customer service (though I wish they would have just provided a 30 cent O-ring instead of the whole holder. Just to cut down on waste). 100 % would recommend to a friend.
From the very FIRST use there were grounds in my coffee. When you pay almost $200 for something you expect it to work correctly. Will definitely be returning!!
This coffee machine is so well thought out. I love that every single little part of it is integrated within the machine. So smart. It looks amazing. It works great. I've made teas, coffees, cappuccinos, I've used cups and grounds. I prefer grounds in general. The temperature of the drink is hot. Taste is awesome. There are 4 types of drinks you can brew. You can make classic(1) or rich(2) (the machine will stop a few times for a few moments and start brewing again during the cycle making coffee taste stronger/richer), over the ice(3) or specialty(4), which brews 4 oz and its really strong like expresso. I brew specialty when I'm making cappuccino. It brews very fast too. I love the frother. It works amazing. You don't get splashes because it has cover over it. I love that its always there and I can pop it out any moment when I need it. It's very easy to clean too. Quarter of twist detaches the frother and I can wash it quickly and pop it right back in with the same quarter of the twist. I absolutely love the fact that this is not overly complicated machine. It has basic functions that I wanted that all work really well. The machine is narrow and doesn't take much space on the counter which I really appreciate. It is a little taller than I thought it would be, but I guess my top kitchen cabinets is high enough that I don't have to move the machine and can open and close the lid with no problems. The heigh of the machine allows to fill the water tank with almost 48 oz of water. Water tank is easily removable. The height of the machine also allows for different types of cups. I can put a pretty tall thermos cup and brew straight into it. The most amount you can brew at once is 24 oz. The machine recognizes which attachment you have inside, for cups or grounds. Attachments are also marked on the outside on their little handles that stick on the outside of the machine when they stored away. It's so neat and cute. It's made with love. I'm soooo enjoying it and absolutely loving it. I'm planning to buy it as a gift to my loved ones, that's how much I love it. The permanent filter is easy to clean. It makes an amazing tea too, not just coffees. Loose leaf or a bag, everything comes out amazing and hot. The lid over the filter has a hole where the water flows through and has multiple holes on the bottom of the lid, just like shower head, which allows hot water to go evenly through the coffee grounds or tea leaves. Love that. I was looking for a single cup machine, so mostly I brew 1 or 2 cups only. I never had a problems with overflowing or getting grounds in the coffee. I think people get those problems because they simply put too much coffee grounds which causes it to overflow and get grounds into coffee. The included permanent filter is not huge, so if you need to brew strong coffee for a large amount of people at once, this is probably not the best choice. But if you brew 1 or 2 cups, this is perfect. Otherwise you could also brew a few times. I don't see any problem with that because it brews amazingly fast. I do not have any dripping problems either. I brew until the brewing cycle is complete, there is blinking light indicator on top of the lid. When brewing cycle is finished machine makes the light stops blinking and machine makes 3 beeps. Not loud, but I'm able to hear them with working TV, washer and dishwasher. If you remove the cup after those 3 beeps and wipe (i usually just touch it with edge of my cup) the last drop on the spout it doesn't drip. Ever. But even if it was to drip a couple drops, there is a nice really easy to clean dripping tray, that you can place on 4 different heights or remove completely. I think this machine is worth every penny. I can't tell you enough how much I love this thing. I'm so glad I chose to buy it. I didn't even expect it would be so great. Not big or bulky, well thought out, looks very very nice, has all nessesary functions that each works amazing. It doen't look cheap at all. It's very pleasing to the eye and stylish. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants versatility, simplicity and style. I feel like I didn't say enough, didn't give it enough credit for what it is lol. Whoever was designing this thing is for sure a big people lover. I wanna give them a hug hahaha.
