This coffee maker is fine, and it brews quickly, which I like, but the well into which you pour the water is the dumbest design I've ever seen. It's a very small, kind of triangular opening, and when you pour water in you make a shadow over it and can't see how much water is going in. It's got a stepped series of green markers with numbers on them, but once you start pouring the water in every single "step" has a drop of water on it and you can't see it. Agghh! What a dumb design.
I still use my Keurig for the hot water but putting the coffee in the cup and using the press, amazing. Love it, can't imagine not using it.
I just got it in the mail today, and right off the bat, I can tell that the water reservoir is not designed properly. It does not sit in place firmly as you would expect, and it moves in place since it does NOT latch or lock into place like any other reservoir does. I expected better from Keurig
Item came broken
This thing is a little bigger than you may think just by looking at the pictures, so check the product description if you're looking for something small. That said, this thing works really well. My espresso machine broke a few months ago and I didn't feel like buying a costly replacement. I was surprised to find that this simple tool works nearly as well. You can easily pack it with espresso and use it as a poor-over. The filter is double-sided, and the silicon cup is sturdy enough that you can fill it to the top with water and it doesn't so much as wobble, both on the sides and with the bottom. There's a small hole in the base so that you can look through to see the drip if you're not pouring it into something see-through, or so you can put a clip on it (it comes with a little ribbon already attached for hanging). It comes apart easily and the whole thing can go through the dishwasher without any problem, and it rinses off very easily. I was impressed in that no grains got through the filter; the espresso it made was clear of any debris. Since it collapses, it's also much easier to empty of used grounds than a normal espresso wand. It's almost completely flat when you collapse it, which makes it easy to store or use during travel. Highly recommend.
I'm removing a star and adding to my previous review. The permanent filter that comes with the machine is tiny. I prefer to use a paper filter because coffee brewed without one can raise cholesterol levels. I bought Melitta 4-cup "junior" basket filters off the shelf, the only ones I could find, and I have to cut one down and smush it in. If I could easily find paper filters to fit the machine, it wouldn't be a problem. If you do use this machine with a paper filter, be warned that you still need to use the permanent filter basket too, and not just the clear plastic outer basket. I tried that and the coffee grounds backed up into the water reservoir, which was a nightmare to clean. The permanent filter basket is designed to let the coffee flow out only from the sides, and it is suspended an inch above the base of the clear plastic part. When the paper filter sat directly on the hole on the base of the clear part, the machine clogged. I've used permanent filters before, and they tend to get holes in the mesh eventually; if you can't buy a replacement basket, then the machine becomes pretty useless. So if you don't care about paper filters, this machine might do for the reasons I gave below. If you do prefer paper, then be forewarned. ORIGINAL REVIEW: The lack of reviews made me hesitate before choosing this coffee maker, but the size and price were right, and I like the white-and-black minimalistic aesthetic. Our old Cuisinart 4-cup with a steel carafe never quite made enough coffee for two, but we need a small machine for limited counter space. There aren't a ton of 5-cup options. I love that this machine is super easy to clean. The clear basket lifts out and just needs a quick rinse; tap out the grounds and do the same for the included mesh filter. As for taste, I use a dark Blackbeard's Delight low-acid roast, so the stated 172-to-176-degree brewing temperature is adequate. I'm not sure how well it would do with lighter roasts. I thought the first couple of brews were slightly underextracted so added just a touch extra coffee grounds. That yielded a nice full-bodied cup of coffee. I'll need to experiment with some other roasts to see how the machine performs. The carafe seems well designed. It pours cleanly without dripping, and the top snaps in and out with a little tab in back to keep it in place. I haven't tried to make a pour over yet, but it's nice to have that option from a drip coffee maker.
Very compact and easy to use, easy to clean, easy to pour water into for filling. Very great quality and fits underneath my cabinets well so that I can keep it on my countertop daily so that I have fresh coffee every morning. Very good value!
If you plan to give this as a gift it doesn’t come in an coffeemakers.us.com box. The original box sealed with a tape and your shipping label is on the original box. You can’t gift it with the original box. The other thing that made me disappointed is it came dirty. There is white paint on the cup and inside of the cup. And the most important part the cup cannot be inserted into the machine like it doesn’t fit in it. I thought Arzum’s quality would be good but nope ! Cheap cheap cheap! Update: I wanted to give it a try. I was impressed with the taste. There is obvious difference between the coffee that I brewed in a traditional way and the coffee that this machine prepared. I really like how soft the taste is. My star was 1 but the taste impressed me so I am giving 3 stars
Perfect size for a single person or small apartment. I love the color. It has one of those baskets that doesn’t need a filter which is also nice.
I've bought them all, this is the Superior Turkish Coffee Maker. All the other machines can overflow, but this unit never will. I thought it was using a different material on the inner pot, but the steel is wrapped. It's also the only unit I found that has a spinner inside the pot. Just the weight of the pot let's you know it's got so much more going on then all the other machines. I use to own the big expensive Okka as well, but this is even better than that model. I can repeat cooking the same pot of Turkish Coffee to my hearts content. I can determine water level. I can put in Hot Water from my Bottled Water Cooler and it never boils over, something all the other Turkish Coffee machines did. This Model is smart enough to know the temperature of what's in the pot and adjust accordingly. Worry Free, Customizable Easy to Clean 🧽 I pour it over frothed milk and make a Turkish Latte Every Morning.
Yeah, just look at the pictures. I've cleaned this thing so many times. Grounds flood my coffee constantly. I think the brewer is closing too soon before all the water drains, so it just floods itself. Grounds overflow out of the filter and into the dripper, and into my coffee from there. This thing is so irritating. Not worth the money.
Yes this unit is costly and you might be able to pull this off with a cheaper whipped cream container and n2 cartridge (not n2o). However, if you want a product that does exactly what it is supposed to then buy this. The coffee comes out just like Starbucks nitro and after 40 to 80 pints (depending on your cold Brew source) it pays for itself. Highly recommend you buy this item if you love nitro coffee and no longer want to pay 5 bucks for it at Starbucks.
LOVE this no-pod coffee maker. I don't have a kitchen island; just a small counter with a 17" clearance under the cabinets. Both the water reservoir lid and the basket lid can open without moving the maker forward. It heats quickly and the cup is ready within a minute. 12/27/22 - I'm revising my review only to make a notation regarding Hamilton Beach Customer Service....There isn't any!! I am in need of another "scoop" for this maker and I have opened several requests via their website; no one replies. I've even tried different referenced phone numbers...nothing. So sadly, with this little coffee maker, if you don't have the 'scoop' you can't even use a reusable coffee pod.
I like how it's easy to disassemble and clean. Spacious, stylish, a great conversation piece. Makes great brew too!! Works REALLY well! If not for personal use it makes a wonderful gift!
Hi guys. Love the machine but reservoir came cracked.
