I love the color and the overall size. My cup arrived cracked and there is usually a quarter teaspoon of water behind it after using. I asked Elite Gourmet for a replacement cup and have heard nothing.
It does a fantastic job. The equipment it self is very compact and easy to use however the second week I got it the letters on the top with instructions of “remove” lock” also the warning message is washing off.
This coffee maker looks great in person and has some design features that really seem well-thought out. For instance, the front fill feature means you can keep most of the coffee maker under the cupboards, even when filling, which turns out to be mighty convenient. Ditto for the swing-out basket, which makes access really easy. And again, the fill level indicator is visible from a wide range of angles, even almost head-on. Very nice! And when you remove the lid on the steel carafe, you're treated to a very wide opening that you can fit your whole hand and a sponge into. With my current coffee maker, a Kitchen Aid, I had to buy a special brush to get into the carafe for cleaning. This one has the best thermal carafe I've ever used. The thoughtful design continues on to the settings buttons/screen, which are very easy to use and interpret. I especially love that there's a timer showing how long ago the coffee was brewed. Seems simple but I have never seen it before and I love having that information. The screen is bright and legible, and the sensible brew options (Normal / Bold / Small Pot) are much appreciated. Then, there are a couple of unfortunate things in the design. First is the water filter. It's this strange little pod that you have to snap into a wand, and then there's a second piece that you have to snap onto the handle of the wand to make it longer. It appears this is because the filter was taken from some other, shallower device. Rather than redesign and retool, they just did this weird mickey mouse adapter thing. When you manage to guide the filter pod into the little hole deep in the machine, the handle falls off. In 30 days when it comes time to change the filter, I'm not sure how I'm going to get the old one out. Anyway, the design here needs rethinking. The other issue is the LCD screen has some ugly light bleed along the bottom, which I hope you can see in the close up picture I uploaded. This is purely a cosmetic issue and will only bother the most fastidious among us, but it might perhaps speak to the overall quality of construction and/or the quality of components. In my mind, this is a trivial thing, but others may be more irritated about it. One more thing: Compared to my current coffee maker, this one makes more commotion when brewing, with all the snorting and gurgling it emits. I don't sleep in the kitchen and don't really mind it. It may sound like, due to these complaints, I don't like this coffee maker. But actually, I really do like it quite a bit. I'm only pointing out the negatives to be fair and honest, but on the whole, I'm delighted with it so far. I forgot to mention it's fast, and the coffee stays warm for hours. After about 45 minutes to an hour, the coffee starts to taste sour (as it will in any thermal carafe) so I only brew what I need. I feel like with coffee your options are: Use a warmer, and after a while your coffee will taste burned and bitter; use a thermal carafe and your coffee will end up sour and less than hot. But I use a thermal carafe because it does keep the coffee tasty longer than a burner will, just not forever. The solution is to brew an amount that will be used in a reasonable period of time, and them brew more if necessary. As I mentioned, my current coffee maker is a Kitchen Aid with thermal carafe which I have had for about 13 years. It's annoying that this thing keeps going, and going, because I want to replace it with a coffee maker that has more thoughtful design and features like this Hamilton Beach. But will this Hamilton Beach last for a decade and a half? We're about to find out. I like it more than the Kitchen Aid, so I'm packing that away and going with the Hamilton Beach. If it dies prematurely (I think about 5 years is ok for a coffee maker in this day and age), I will talk about it in an update to this review, and I will bring the Kitchen Aid back out for another 13 years of service.
This french press coffee maker is great. I was very surprised at how easy it is to make a great cup of coffee. The 12oz size is perfect for my one cup a day, and there is no need for paper filters. This french press is very easy to clean, and seems to be very durable.
I’m in love 😍 I hope it last 🤭. Great coffee as a Cuban girl that importan for us a good cafecito 🤭
Awful experience. Coffee machine was not even inside the original box and not even bubble paper or anything and coffee grind inside the machine and the water container was dirty and disgusting. Some coffee pods were all dented and not usable. Very very disappointed with the product.
I just opened this coffee maker to find it used and damaged. The lid is scratched, the carafe is dented and clearly has coffee residue inside, the manual has coffee/water damage, the water tank has water residue in it as well. I am requesting a refund.
Soooo... IVE HAD MY HAMILTON COFFEE MAKER FOR OVER 10 years!!! It has never had any issues IVE NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES!!!! As an avid coffee/tea drinker and coffee/tea lover, the taste and temperature of my coffee/tea always turns out right!!! All the functions still continue to work. THE AUTO PROGRAM (the convenience!!!!) The auto pause(REALLY) the AUTO ON/OFF 😩 I was curious to see if my coffee maker had reduced in price for a friend and WOW TO MY SURPRISE it actually went up in price. I’m not surprised, because the longetivity of this coffee maker should be the epitome of all coffee makers HAMILTON BEACH IS AND ALWAYS WILL BE THE BEST!!!! My money was well spent!!!
Why 3 stars? I opened my box and the products was exactly like the pictures you see... all dirty, water actually in the water chamber of the machine and the base obviously used and cushioned feet uneven. I did buy a used one in November 2022 a new model and it lasted until October 2023, handle broke off. I decided to buy a more sturdy handled one new, but got this. I did not send it back. I was able to clean everything and my expressos are great. I love the size and it travels well when I visit others. I need my expresso!!! LOL
I got the 44oz version. I was sad to see that it did NOT come with the spoon pictured. :-( It is heavy gauge, double walled, vacuum sealed, very well made. The lid is the same heavy, double wall, vacuum sealed. They fit together well too. I don't foresee any physical construction issues with this ... ever. The plunger fits very snugly. I like that because it will do a better job of managing the coffee grounds. If you look at the one picture I uploaded you will see that the plunger is done differently than cheaper french presses. This plunger has the mesh wrapped slightly on the outside of the curled wire. This way the mesh, instead of the curled wire, is what is grabbing the coffee grounds. The metal plate of the plunger is also a thicker gauge. I doubt I will ever see it bend or get out of whack. I get the feeling that this french press will last several lifetimes.
This little cute compact coffee maker is awesome. It brews quickly and get nice and hot. I will be buying another one.
We Ordered our first Tea pitcher in December of 2023 and it did exactly what we needed it to. My husband can brew tea and then ice it and keep it in the fridge. This past december 2024 - this tea pitcher handle broke. I actually think it was because i dropped it in the sink and then it broke. The handle is plastic. It also had a poor design in that when you held the handle your hand would touch the hot glass because there was not enough space between the handle and the glass. So we ordered our second tea pitcher this past January 3, 2025. My husband was excited that they had upgraded the handle and fixed the issue with your hand hitting the hot glass. this was short lived as on January 18th my husband poured hot water in the pitcher to brew his tea and the glass pitcher cracked and then broke. The whole bottom of the pitcher broke. This was unfortunate but I thought well maybe we got a bad one. The problems is that the manufacturer email and phone number do not work - so i cannot get ahold of anyone to reimburse or replace this pitcher. I am kinda bummed out that we have purchased two of them and had a problem with both of them and there is no way to contact anyone to help with a replacement. - this was money down the drain. I suggest you try a different one.
I have the larger version of this French Press and have used it for many years without issue. Using a French Press is one part science, one part cooking and three parts magic/luck. Once you figure out your settings you are in coffee nirvana land. Since I rarely have the need for 33 ounces of the nectar of the gods I decided to get the three person version. Delivery was as promised and even with the delivery person dropping the box in the driveway the product was received unscathed. It was exactly as described. This is a small French Press. The directions specify not to fill beyond one inch from the top which is where the top part of the upper metal band is, a good visual reference. I measured out 12 ounces to see how much this version of French Press really holds. Twelve ounces comes right to the top of the metal band, about one inch from the top. Ahh, but there is a rub here as Archimedes discovered during his bath. If you put 3 scoops of coffee into the device you can't possibly fit twelve ounces of water due to that whole displacement thing. Three scoops was too strong for me so I used two. I boiled a pot of water in the Ovente electric kettle. Letting it sit until it came off the boil I measured out 12 ounces and poured it into the Bodum. Mixing the grounds gently with a plastic spoon I then put the top on and let it sit for 4 minutes. Then I began the final step of the extraction process. Slowly and gently I pressed my palm into the firm roundness of the plunger. The slightest resistance noted, I pushed on, gently. Finally I reached the limit when I could push no more. I noted the creamy liquid forming on the top of the coffee. I rotated the lid and poured the hot, steaming beverage into the measuring cup. Ten ounces. I'm ok with that. No grounds or sediment was noted. I used Cape May Roasters coarse ground Lighthouse blend. Delicious. See photo. Regular coffee cup, Keurig and bag of coffee in picture for size reference. Note: I found that if you let it steep too long the coffee will begin to taste bitter, like re-heated, four hour on the burner coffee. Pay attention when you are steeping the grounds. Cleanup was simple. I used a plastic spoon to clean the grounds out and rinsed what was left into the disposal. Cleaning the grounds from the filter was simple. Definitely worth the purchase if you are looking for a one cup coffee maker.
Very disappointed! I got this 2 days ago, and the glass carafe already cracked by the handle. I bought it to replace an older model that we had for years. The glass seems to be lighter weight. It's not like we were handling it roughly, it just broke while being washed.
Picture worth a thousand words some days are better than others but a 10cup pot this threw me over the edge. Everyday I have to disassemble and clean this thing. I will go back to grinding my own beans with a standard pot.
