I received a defective machine even though I ordered and paid for a new machine. I have been going back and forth with Delonghi customer service for two weeks. They offered a replacement which I have not received. Then they emailed me they would send me a label to return the machine so they can fix it. I called the customer service again to explain that I bought a new machine and want a perfect model. They agreed again and yet I have received nothing. I am calling a final time today before returning this as my coffee grounds are not grinding in fine form and the coffee is very weak.
The home I live in was originally built for someone with disabilities so the top cabinets are just a little bit lower than a standard. Because of this I have to pull my coffee maker out to make my coffee. I still have to do that but this but this appliance tray is perfect. The wheels roll incredibly smooth and thanks to paying attention to the measurements of my coffee maker. It’s a perfect fit.
The last cup of coffee from our previous press was a mouthful of grounds. Double screen filter on the Coletti keeps grounds in the pot far better than our GSI press. You can see my empty cup in the pic, this was the last cup from the pot, which is usually the one with the most grounds, and there is little residue with the Coletti. I tested the Temps after having the coffee sit for a little over an hour in a 64 degree house. Coffee started out at 185. One hour later coffee was 138. We left about 2 cups in the press for 4 hours and it was just tepid, so I don't think the 4 hour claim is correct, but our coffee usually doesn't sit around that long anyway. The outsides and top of the press do get warm, warmer than our Cotopaxi insulated bottle, so there is heat transference, and therefore loss of heat. Press is very sturdy and comes with a nice bag. The extra capacity is great when out with friends, nothing worse than serving your friends ALL your coffee, then having to wait 10 more minutes to get your own cup. Our only dislike is that the filters are not removable. We find there are often some grounds that get stuck between the bottom metal and the lower mesh screen, it seems difficult to get 100% of the grounds out of this "trap". Update - after several weeks of using the press, it is developing several small holes where the pour spout meets the inner wall (see last pic). We first noticed a slight whistle from the pot when we poured in hot water, but couldn't find the source. Then I noticed when pouring, there were small bubbles arising from one of forming holes. This is the biggest one and its currently no bigger than a pin hole. But I suspect the plunger is causing some wear at this point and those holes are going to get bigger and more appear to be on their way. Ultimately water and grounds are going to get in there between the 2 layers and they won't want to come out. This will lead to the untimely death of the press :( Quite disappointed as it was doing such a good job.
I was going to replace the screen filter for my coffee press. One replacement filter was going to cost $15. No way was I spending that much for 1 screen filter when I know I could buy a new press for about the same amount. I saw the Bonjour coffee press was anywhere between $39-$49 for the same cup size. I came across this one for $23.99, with all these little perks of 2 small glass coffee cups, 2 replacement screens, the cleaning brush, measuring spoon/stirrer, and the battery operated milk frothing whisk. Not to mention that the glass carafe has the measuring lines on the side so you can make exactly the amount of coffee you want. Not many French coffee press carafes have the liquid measures on the side. I really am liking this set. It was well worth the $23.99 price. I am updating this for a possible consumer safety concern I e-mailed the company about and submitted photos. There are fine wires on the filter screens that were sticking out that can potentially break off and be ingested causing a perforated esophagus, stomach or bowel that can lead to serious injury of even death. I am a Nurse and I filed a report with the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Buyers, please please check all the filter screens for any fine lose wire or wires sticking out, I had to cut several that I found on them so they wouldn't break off and be ingested. Upon notifying the company I had a reply back within 24 hours. They were kind and courteous , thanked me for alerting them of the issue and sent me the plan of correction they are making with the manufacturer so no consumer is injured. They took my concern and photos I sent very seriously. They had me send to them my order number and contact information so that they could send me a free replacement. Again, within 24 hours I was sent the tracking information that it was and will be arriving in 2 days on 3/4/2020. The company knocked it out of the ball park with customer service. 5 star customer service rating for them.
As advertised, the Technivorm makes great coffee. But, it's a disaster for fit and function. For a $300 coffee maker, I'd expect more effort to be put into the way the thing actually works in the real world. I've had a number of coffee makers, and this design is absolutely terrible. I noticed early on that, if it wasn't set up just right, it would spew coffee and grounds everywhere. After this had happened enough times, I finally gave up and bought the Oxo 9 cup to replace it. The problem may be specific to the "Auto Adjust Brew Basket". That basket, in combination with the carafe button that theoretically stops the brew cycle, and the amazingly poor 'footplate' design really conspired to make for nervous mornings brewing coffee. First: The button that is supposed to stop the brew cycle when the carafe is removed got stuck often based on - wait for it - Having coffee on it!!! Yep - the button was easily jammed when a little bit of coffee got on it, and would stay retracted. I had to use tools to coax the button back out, and even then, it was stuck much of the time. Second: The 'footplate' is far from intuitive for install - the worst part of the design. And if it is installed just the least bit wrong (but of course looks correct), the carafe is mis-aligned. If you turn your back on it while brewing, it'll flood you with coffee and grounds. This happened a bunch of times, resulting in groggy mornings cleaning up walls, floors, and counters. Finally - it may seem like a great idea to Technivorm, but the fact that the thing has so many pieces that you need to remove and replace just to make coffee seems poor to me: - Top to the reservoir - Top to the basket - The basket itself (better put it in right!) - The carafe. If this is combination isn't precisely re-assembled (with a lot of margin for error in the sloppy design), then it means disaster. If you're determined to get a Technivorm, don't get the "Auto Adjust Brew Basket" model - you'll regret it
We needed to replace our French press since the carafe broke on our old one! This is sturdy & well constructed. We love it. The coloring is beautiful I love the design. It’s very easy to see the coffee in it (our old one was less visible).
I made a stand for pour over and wanted a stylish cone. This is perfect and works exceptionally.
I was excited to find a bag to facilitate my coffee snobbery! (Most people do not carry their coffeemakers with them when they travel, but I am assuming that if you are reading this, you do too. Hello!) I carry a Nespresso type machine, not a Keurig, and therefore the fit isn't exact. I have to lay the machine on its side for a good fit, but while being carried it is actually correctly aligned. I will have to take the machine out of the bag to brew, but I would have done that anyway so that isn’t an issue for me. The mini is just right for my needs. I measured before I chose that size, and the measurements seem accurate. The carrier is nicely padded, and has sections for pods, napkins, etc., too. In a couple of weeks, I have a short road trip planned to a hotel that I know doesn't have drinkable in-room coffee available. I am now ridiculously excited that my machine will be carried through the lobby with the dignity it deserves.
yay.. 1st to review! :) I wanted a 40 fluid ounce pour-over coffee maker similar to the Chemex 8-cup to use in combination with a Bonavita BV1800 8-Cup Coffee Maker with Glass Carafe. The reason I didn't opt for the Chemex is its height. The Bonavita model I chose includes a warming plate, which takes up additional space. The distance between its warming plate (on bottom) and the shower head (on top) is 9 inches, which doesn't take into consideration that the center of the warming plate (where the glass carafe sits) is slightly recessed. The manufacture's product page for the Chemex 8-cup lists its height as 9 1/8", whereas the height of this item is listed to be 9". Some user reviews suggest that the Chemex 8-cup can fit if the shower head is lifted slightly, but I wanted a pour-over glass carafe that can fit easily without requiring any intervention. I purchased this item in that hope, and it works perfectly. There's just enough clearance that the glass can slide onto the Bonavita's warming plate, and when it rests in the center recess there's a nice gap between its top and the shower head. If handled with care, the glass never comes into contact with the shower head. As for this item itself.. pros: * Real/branded "DURAN" borosilicate glass from Germany. This is like if it said "PYREX", but the quality of glass that "pyrex" no longer produces for household cookware; now they only sell this type of glass for scientific laboratory equipment (glass beakers, etc). * The silicone holders are perfect. Attractive and functional. They work very well and are easily removed, as they're held in place by two buttons. * The capacity (40 oz) is exactly the same as the carafe that it replaces. * The shape makes it easy to clean (with a wand brush). Other comparable products tend to be rounded (as though made of mouth blown glass), which results in areas that are more difficult to reach to clean. cons: * none comments: * I do wish the glass were just a tad bit thicker. It isn't so thin that I would feel at all fearful that it's likely to break as the result of normal usage. It's a very good compromise between price and quality. Nevertheless, I would have gladly paid a bit more for a heavier weight product. Of course, my use case is unusual and prevented me from buying the Chemex. * I just brewed my first 8-cup pot of coffee using this combo: Bonavita BV1800 + Cafe Brew PO108 + the reusable filter that came with the PO108. I measured 8 grams of coffee per cup.. 64 grams in total. The end result was very good. * I have a much better quality (Osaka "To-ji") reusable filter arriving tomorrow. From everything I've read on the topic, the filter can make a huge difference in the quality of the resulting coffee. Chemex makes a exceptional paper filter, and this Osaka reusable filter is reviewed as being an excellent substitute. I'm looking forward to doing a taste-test comparison.
My wife and I are unabashed coffee snobs. We've drank almost nothing but French Press coffee for the past fifteen years. It was only a couple of years ago that I tried cold brew coffee and I really liked it (the Stok store brand). Still, we marched on with our French Pressing and recently also started doing Espresso. This popped up on an item available for review and I couldn't resist. We're a few brews in now and my wife and I are both really enjoying the coffee we're able to make with it. I'd say if you like the Stok brand (sorry I just haven't tried other brands so I can't really compare) you'll like what you're able to make with this cold brewer. The container is a nice thick glass and the top is just wide enough for me to get my fat hand down into for a good cleaning. The top screws on and off and has a handy . . . err, bump stop? feature when you're one screw rotation up that will keep the top locked in place while you pour. The filter is easy enough to clean. One silly annoyance was that it doesn't come with brewing instructions, just a QR code that takes you to their website and the instructions. C'mon guys, just print out some instructions and throw them in the box. Basically for full strength you put 1.25 cups into the filter, fill the container almost to the top (to allow displacement from the filter and coffee), screw the lid on and shake it up for 30 seconds. Brew for 12-24 hours, shaking a couple of times during the process. One serious annoyance, as another reviewer mentioned for some reason the filter is unreasonably hard to get the thread started when screwing it onto the lid. It takes me several careful tries before being able to screw it on without it being cross-threaded.
We ordered this coffee maker back in August of 2021 and have used it nearly every day since. It is programmed to grind and brew at 7:30 AM and a full 12-cup pot of freshly brewed hot coffee is ready for me by the time I have to walk upstairs and begin my workday at 8:00 AM. Some days multiple pots are made depending on who happens to be home that day. There is a warming plate keeping the coffee hot, which automatically turns off after 120 minutes. if there’s still a decent amount of coffee left in the pot, I’ll sometimes turn the grinder option off and turn the machine back on, which resets the 120 minute timer. The biggest, and really only downside I can say about this coffee maker is that after over two years of heavy use, the screen in the filter basket has developed small tears. Over time, this has gradually allowed more and more coffee grounds to escape the filter basket and find their way into the pot. Trying to find a replacement filter for this has proven to be next to impossible. After searching all over the internet and checking with Black & Decker, this part always appears to be on back order. This is the reason why I did not give this product a 5-star review. We will continue using this machine until the time comes when amount of escaped coffee grounds becomes enough of an inconvenience and calls for action, which the only option at this point would be to purchase this machine all over again or going with an alternative. I may very well be looking into the latter just to avoid this issue of having to replace the filter basket in the future. That all being said, this unit has never once given us an issue other reviewers have mentioned about it only brewing a cup’s worth of coffee from a completely filled reservoir. Not even once has anything like that ever happened with ours.
The color is so cute and no complaints on functionality. Gets plenty hot. The only thing I would add is automatic shut off =)
I absolutely love it! My husband does not want me making any coffee any other way! For over has officially become the way we make coffee in our house! The price was great, and the flavor is amazing! I love the forever filter and that it is super easy to clean! Definitely would buy it or gift it for anybody who is a coffee lover!
Works great at first. Filter only lasted 2 months. Seam on inside split open and grounds get stuck between the 2 layers. I was gentle with washing when I noticed seam was not flat when I received item.
Bought this a few months ago after the Bunn we had for over a decade finally called it quits. Love the design but it is practically useless. It leaks EVERY time we brew a pot. It's also impossible to get a strong brew. I have to use twice as much coffee as I used to just to get a decent cup.
