I'm kind of torn about writing this. I used it as a French press only a few times, then it became my cold brew pitcher. It worked very well for both, and I'm glad I own it. But, I don't clean it often. Every now and then, after enough coffee drips down the outside, I give it a go. I'm pretty careful handling it, since it is glass, and I've never had a problem...till the last time. It broke as I was putting the handle back over the rim, and did a little damage to me. Pictures are attached. Like I said, I'm pretty careful when I take it apart, and I've done it many times. This could have been a lot worse on my fingers than it was. One cut that still bleeds if unbandaged after 4 days, and two little nicks. Again, it could have been much worse. So, while it's a nice unit...if you're a "clean freak"...this is not the one for you. You will hurt yourself.
This is so much easier to program than my name brand coffee maker. It also has more features. You can set the hot plate temperature to 3 levels and can put it on keep warm for up to 4 hours. Now I may not want to keep coffee hot for 4 hours, but hot water for tea I might. Still it’s an option. And with being able to lower the hot plate temperature some might want to keep it hot for 4 hours. I like that it has 14 cups instead of the normal to and sometimes 12 cups.. it has a clean function and a programmable option to set for a specific time of day to come on. It comes with a reusable coffee filter, which is great, because I didn’t have any it just so happened. Has a glass craft , which I like, I can see it brewing. The top of the coffee maker has a big lid to open and I could easily pour water into it. It also has a bold brew, not sure yet about that feature. It made coffee very quickly and cleaned up very nicely. Very pleased with the purchase.
I don't know that there's much to dislike about this iced coffee maker. For this process, I used 30 grams of fresh ground coffee, 150 g of ice, and 500 ml of hot water. The Hario cone filters the coffee quickly - much more quickly than you might expect. The coffee cools quickly as it is filtered directly onto the ice. The big difference between what the instructions ask for you to do and what I actually do in practice is that I don't add more ice to the coffee carafe after the coffee is brewed. The glass is a little thin and I'm quite worried of cracking it when I drop ice into it. Instead, I pour extra ice into a pint glass and pour the coffee into there. It's largely the same result. As you can see in my pictures the set comes with filters, a measuring cup, the plastic ice insert, a Hario cone, and a large glass carafe. We've been using this for both hot and cold coffee and it's been wonderful for both. My usual rhythms are to use a ceramic pourover. This cone seemingly works faster than the other pourovers I've used. Another nice feature about this particular cone is the silicone sleeve around the top. It makes removing the cone relatively harmless when you're trying to remove the other elements from the glass carafe. The taste is a better iced coffee than ive gotten out of my local coffee shop (and I use their beans). This might have to do with the fact that I can control the ice to coffee ratio. As with any pourover or other involved coffee making experience, I highly recommend also using a scale to measure out a precise amount of coffee. The included measuring spoon is okay, but it's not going to be as accurate of a ratio (if these sorts of things matter to you).
Machine was delivered in a damaged box with Expired capsules by more than a year. Haven’t used it obviously since I have to order capsules now.
As soon as it was delivered I immediately used it. The coffee was so smooth, bold, rich, and flavorful!!! Reminded me so much of being home. Even the expensive Keurig we own can’t compare to this!!!
UPDATE: Well, I had to lower my review by one star. The third time I used it, the retaining clip snapped off and broke one of the tines that holds the potafilter to the handle while I was tamping out the grinds. Bummer... but then again it was only $30, but I still expect a product to last a while even when it's inexpensive Original Review: Wanted an espresso maker for work as I like to make latte's and coffee is not going to cut it. So I found the least expensive espresso maker on coffeemakers.us.com, it had good reviews so for $30 I figured I'd give it a go. Well, it has turned out to be a nice little machine. One "down side" is that the heating element does take time to warm up... you will not hear the fast boil of most machines, in fact, you don't hear anything at all. It just sits there and after about 4 minutes the espresso starts to run out of the portafilter into the carafe. So if you are jonesing for a quick hit, better invest in a faster machine. But if like me, you don't mind a 5 minute pause in your day this is probably a great deal. Good for an office, dorm room, apartment, etc.
Have to clean the needle after about three maybe four uses. Pressure error, makes you start over and you’ve wasted a coffee pod. I even make sure that a used pod is removed immediately as to make sure the grounds don’t dry in needle. If it weren’t for the issue with the needle, I would love it. Update September 2, 2019. Purchased this last year on 21st September and have continuously had this issue. No longer recommend and will be utilizing my Square Trade to get this resolved. I bought two different models as gifts for others and they have NOT had any issues.
The temperature of the coffee is always spot on! Love the timer and the ability to choose the strength of my coffee. Very easy to clean! Wonderful product for the money!!! I highly recommend this product!!
It’s a tiny little warmer. The description says 600 ml which is 20 oz, that’s why I bought it. It just barely holds 12 oz and that’s with it filled to the rim about to run over. For comparison, I have it sitting in between 3 oz and 9 oz cups. A positive side, it does heat up pretty quick, that is the only reason I’m not sending it back. You can buy a 5 cup coffee maker for the price of this.
Easy setup the only thing I had to change an order was the different k-cups. Not that bad Keurig is different from the Ninja. Along with the paper filters. All in I will get everything I need an have a great cup of coffee. Thank you Allan
I was in envy of my friend's very fancy espresso coffee maker but not willing to pay the $1500 price. This Ninja coffee maker fit both my wants and price. It has so many nice options: Multiple size options for brewing amounts from a cup to a travel mug to a full carafe and it offers 3 different brew levels - classic, rich and espresso. I love how easy it is to remove the water tank for filling plus it has the fill levels marked on the tank. You don't need to fill the tank to the exact line as it automatically uses just the amount of water needed for the cup / carafe size selected. The grounds holder swings out for easy reach and removal for cleaning. The foam maker arm pulls out from the side and is out of the way when not in use. It also easily unscrews for cleaning. Another nice feature is the measurer that snaps into a spot on the side and is so accessible when measuring out grounds for your brew. BUT for this issue, it would have been 5 stars - a sticker came on the foamer arm panel and would not come off without leaving a sticky residue on the panel. In trying to remove the adhesive, the finish came off the arm panel. It just really bothers me to see that damaged finish on the arm. Sort of ruins the perfect coffee maker appearance but of course, the coffee is still really good.
Very disappointed in the filter. I tried it once. The bottom of the filter screws off in order to make it easier to clean, but I couldn't get it back on and then noticed it sliced both my thumbs and I was bleeding. It was incredibly difficult to get the bottom correctly back on and now my thumbs were throbbing. I gave up on the filter and just use the pitcher for filter packs and it is good quality. The stopper lid is great.
t's not a new one. The bottom was open before I got it. You can tell this from the reset tag. I paid the stainless steel one with extra lid but got only the cheap plastic one with NO extra lid.
I have both a Hario V60 and a Chemex knockoff that I use to brew my coffee at home. I am far from a coffee connoisseur…I use the pour over method because I prefer filtered coffee versus french press, and drink it just rarely enough that I can’t justify a machine taking up counter space. But neither of my two current devices travels all that well in my very tiny camper, let alone in a suitcase. Enter the JavaFlex. I wanted a more portable option that took the same filters as the other two, and this suits that purpose well. The silicone is fairly thick compared to many other silicone items I’ve owned, and stands up well to being filled with coffee grounds and hot water. Unlike many silicone products, there was no smell on arrival. Paired with the V60 filters, I had no issues producing a perfectly decent cup of coffee. And as pictured, when folded down it’s both narrower (no handle) and less than half as tall as the V60. It squishes nicely into any cabinet or suitcase. My only complaint is I’d like it to fold even flatter, but as I suspect that would affect the sturdiness of the cone, I’ll live with the two inch folded height. Because of its flexibility and smaller size, the JavaFlex is a terrific option for camping, vanlife, or anyone who just wants a good cup of coffee during hotel or AirBnB stays. This is an excellent travel coffee maker that I’m happy to have bought.
The simple facts: So, I purchased this Braun BrewSense drip coffee maker in September of 2021. I’ve used it nearly every single day since then, sometimes more than once a day. I brew ground medium strength coffee in it. The great: It’s been my favorite coffee maker I’ve ever purchased. It brews delicious coffee (for my palate, I fill the water to 12, and use 11 scoops of coffee to get my “just right” flavor), it brews at average speed, and keeps it at perfect temp. The top lid opens widely for easy loading of water into the reservoir, and the reusable filter basket has held up over the years and is easy to clean. The recent not so great: Today after brewing a full sized pot as usual to start my day, I went about cleaning and noticed a strong burning odor coming from my kitchen. Upon investigation, the unit was smoking/smoldering, producing cackling sounds I’ve never heard before, and displayed an error code saying “E02”. I immediately turned off the unit, removed the carafe from the hot plate, and unplugged the unit. It continued to smoke for a few minutes and the cackling sound persisted as well. I moved the unit outside to my porch to be safe in case of it producing flames. Currently: I’ve submitted a warranty request to Braun/their parent company who oversees these things (DēLonghi) since their warranty covers 3 years from the date of purchase, luckily placing me within eligible warranty timeframe. When I looked in the manual for what the E02 code means, it only states to contact them “for repair”. My assumption is that it is due to an electrical fault that can result in a fire that can lead to death. I’m glad I caught it quickly and will be eager to read Braun’s response to remedy it. It’s a great coffee maker that I’ve never had issues with until today, so my hope is that it will get repaired or replaced and I can continue enjoying the product’s coffee making magic again soon. :) I will update when things have been addressed and hopefully remedied.
