This is my second Capresso. The first was a 4 cup, and I loved it. The second is a twelve cup, and I really love this one too...except for one major problem that plagued both, almost from day one. You can see from the photos just how terrible the hot plate on the 12 cup looks. Yes, it is almost two years old. BUT, this began about two weeks into it's use. I've had to sand it several times to keep the rust to a minimum, and of course the carafe scrapes every time you remove it or put it back, and the bottom is almost impossible to clean due to the rust rubbing off. And as I said, the first 4 cup did exactly the same thing, almost from its day 1. Love the maker, but this looks terrible sitting on the counter, and is very annoying to use.
This coffee maker looks great and brews good coffee. Setup and use is easy, and it will keep coffee hot for 2 hours on the warming plate. It can also do scheduled auto brewing, and you can remove the pot in the middle of brewing to pour coffee and it will automatically stop dripping. The glass the pot is made from seems a bit thin to me, but the last time I used a real coffee maker like this (not a Keurig) was well over 10 years ago, so that might just be due to modern materials and how they are made these days. I also like that it has a built in filter, so I don’t need to buy/use disposable paper ones. For a quick cup of coffee I still use my Keurig, but it’s really nice to be able to use this machine and make a full pot of coffee for company, or on off days, and just refill my mug as desired. My only complaint is that I haven’t found a way to make the warming plate stay on more than 2 hours, and I would sometimes prefer that it stay hot longer than that. But that is a small gripe, and overall it’s been a great machine so far.
First off, this is a cute little French press. I love the pop of bubblegum pink! It is beautifully made from a quality well-known company, Bodum. It came with directions that are clear and the coffee making process is surprisingly straightforward. I admit I have never used a French press, but I wanted to move away from disposable capsules. So with some trepidation, I assembled everything and read the directions twice. Frankly, it felt a little like my first day in Chemistry class years ago, but the coffee making process was easier than I expected. Because the lid on this French press does not lock, as I was lightly pressing the plunger after the 4-5 minutes of steeping, I also pressed on the lid with my other hand to keep the lid in place. It all went flawlessly. The resulting coffee came out without grounds and had a very enjoyable aroma and taste. I'm sure with repeat use this will become second nature. Be aware, this coffee maker makes up to 8 SERVINGS, and one serving is considered 4 OUNCES. Bear this in mind when you are measuring the coffee grounds. Initially I didn't use quite enough coffee. Of course, the coffee/water ratio can be adjusted to individual taste. Clean up was easy, just unscrew the filter assembly and I chose to hand wash everything. This is not instant coffee, but it is not overly time consuming or complicated and it is better tasting and environmentally friendly. Because I didn't know what to expect, I did use preground coarse coffee designed for a French press coffee maker. If I learn that this is for me I will likely invest in a grinder. But for now, I will enjoy the experience and the coffee. I recommend this product. Care Instructions: Unscrew the filter assembly and clean the plunger unit after each use. Only the filter, glass, plastic and chrome parts are dishwasher safe. There are some safety instructions which I encourage you to read which include: Not for stove top use. Keep away from children while using. Do not allow children to use this coffee maker. Do not plunge with force. Turn lid to close spout when using. Use only coarse ground coffee. Thanks for reading :)
The first one I purchased was missing the espresso handle so I returned it and requested a new one to be exchanged. The second one was filthy! It was covered in dust, stains, and had obviously been used a lot!
Currently using it to hold my tinctures so I can put them easily into smaller containers. I like that I can put the herbs in the strainer, then remove them once the tincture is complete. Super easy to clean and good quality.
I am very fussy about coffee pots. Do much research before buying one. Love this one. Attractive and durable build, hot coffee, fast brewing, good hot plate, stays on and warm a long time, easy to use, lightweight, and sturdy. Can’t ask for more than that.
I've had a Mr. Coffee coffee pot for over 30 years. Probably cost $10. It looks like i bought it a week ago. I've kept it...just in case. The Breville's life - not so much. This was a gift; and I know they paid approx $300. After about a year the hot plate began to brown and the black finish began to scrape off....??? As if the coating that should be heat resistant started to dissolve. Now, I'm afraid this thing is going to catch on fire because the hot plate has a bounce to it now and it looks like it is going to cave in. I contacted Breville support and they want $125 for them to look at it, repair it, or if they need to, replace the unit. This coffee pot makes great coffee and it brews very quickly. Super terrible disappointment. Not only with the quality, but also the lack of care their support desk displayed when I explained the issue. They were professional. They did a lot of typing while i was on the call, and low and behold they were doing the paperwork for me to return the coffeepot for repairs. That's great, right? If I handed them $125. This is a $300 coffee pot. $300!!!!! You would think they would have this dangerous design flaw as a red flag. I've seen this same issue with other reviews. They know about it. So instead of taking a risk and having my house go up in flames, I'll be using the 4-cup Mr. Coffee until Breville contacts me and wants to do the right thing. I hope they do. Do not disappoint yourself. This design flaw is not good.
Lovely muted color. Simple buttons that are, theoretically, easy to use. However, the writing on the buttons is white and very hard to see. So until you have the rhythm of where the buttons are, it takes a minute to figure out which one is brew. Coffee is a reasonable temperature. Relatively quick brew. No complaints to speak of.
Bought this about a year ago and it’s still working great. Make sure to get the correct N2 canisters and clean out the nozzle between uses.
Desipointed in this purchase.
Arrived in damaged box. Appliance works well. Makes good coffee Major design flaw- Cannot pour all of the water from carafe- must be twisted and tilted at odd angle to empty completely and it is impossible to do under a normal upper cabinet.
This makes the perfect cup of coffee. It does come out hot but it's definitely iced once it's done. A lot more useful than my regular coffee pot. I can make one cup at a time!!! Wish I gotten this sooner!! It's even easier to clean after each use as well.
We’ve had ours since Jan 2023 (so over 2 years as of this review). I finally decided to spread the love on here as I’m sipping my perfect coffee as usual this morning. We had gotten into pour over but struggled with keeping it warm if we wanted more than one cup (or if one person got up and made it first) It was also too time consuming on days when we were in a rush to get out the door. I’d been reading about the Moccamaster for a while & we finally decided to invest in one. Zero regrets. You really can’t beat the flavor of coffee brewed this way. We chose the stainless steel carafe over the glass one because you can seal the top and it stays warm for hours without any burnt taste from sitting on a heating element. One of us will get up, make coffee, seal the top. The other person will get up an hour later & still have fresh tasting, hot, pour over coffee. Some ppl have complained about the plastic elements seeming cheap. They are thinner, not because they’re poorly made but because they’re not made using BPA plastic. That’s a very, very good thing and I hope they never change it. I clean it on schedule using the powdered products they recommend (after about 100 brews it’s time to run a cleaning cycle) We plan to have this coffee maker well into our old age so we take care of it. We’ve even taken it in our camper so we don’t have to miss our perfect coffee when we’re on hiking/camping trips, and when we can’t bring it on other trips, we miss our perfect morning coffee. It’s hard to beat.
Works Great! Love it!
I’m a lover of all things Ninja! This was a total bust! I used the K-Cup and selected 18oz. It didn’t even fill my 8oz cup. I’ve tried other amounts and same situation. ALSO there were grounds in my coffee. It’s happened SEVERAL times, with both coffee grounds and k-cup. Super disappointed. I wanted to love this, but the inconsistency of measurements/oz and coffee grounds in my coffee every time was a solid NO! Shipped this sucker back!
