My morning coffee ritual for decades has revolved around a series of moka pots. A few years ago I got an expensive espresso machine from a big and well known brand that I had for all of 5 days, returned because I would wake up to the contents of the water tank having emptied all over the counter and floor. I went back to my reliable moka pot. Subsequent study of commentary from users had me wary of any brand. I got this one because the features are comparable to the most expensive and best known brands. It arrived well packaged with clear and concise instructions. 4 button controls are intuitive. Power; single shot espresso; user controlled espresso shot; and steam wand control. water reservoir is ample for days and days of use. One feature I really liked is the coffee basket retaining spring. NEVER NEVER NEVER will you accidentally discard the single/double basket when pounding the used grounds into a receptacle to discard! IT IS THERE TO STAY, until you want to swap sizes. Acessories are well designed well made and well finished. Machine is very well made, modern design makes it a lovely addition to beautify any countertop.
As my bf has said over the past week you "you and that coffee pot are having a love affair", and it's true. Over the past week I have experienced nothing but Java bliss. I have owned several coffee makers, including several brands, and styles (pot vs k cup). This makes the best coffee I have ever had at home. My bf has the big version of the ninja coffee maker and after drinking coffee at his house I just couldn't stomach the cup my kuerig made anymore. I'm starting to ramble so I'll get to the point lol Pros: ● I love all the options, 6oz to 24 oz. Basket or k cup. I personally love to use the basket, 3 Tbsp of ground coffee on the "rich" style for 18 oz. It's perfect. ● Im a black coffee drinker, I didn't think I'd use the frother much, I mainly got it so my bf can use it when he likes but I'm finding it equally amazing. It just adds a touch of luxury to your cup and feels really special to have cold foam over your coffee at home on Saturday morning while sitting around in your pj's. Cue "petite fleur" - Jill Barber ● I LOVE how big the water reservoir is, I'm checking it all the time cause I can't believe that it's still got water in it. It's no nice. ● THE STORAGE!!!! 😍 I am so grateful they designed storage in this unit. No more random tablespoon laying around designated for coffee ground, or little parts and pieces just cuttering up the drawer or cabinet. There's a little drawer in the maker that the extra attachments, and plunger are stored in. (yes theres a plunger for maintenance- they really thought of everything) it also has a cleaning button which I love the idea of but have not used it yet. ● it's sleek. It looks good on the counter and for the price and what it does, it's worth every penny. I am the happiest customer. Cons: ● Size: I wish that the coffee maker was a little wider and less long. It sticks out into the counter more than I'd like but with everything she ticks, I'll take it, happily. It fit under the cabinets fine but when I use it I have to pull it out a bit so the lid can open all the way cause she's a little tall. I also have a small apartment kitchen. So someone with more counter space or modern cabinetry I'm sure wouldn't have a problem. ● You may be so in love with this coffee maker, you'll be telling everyone you know about it, how great it is, and that they need one in their life, which may result in being razzed a bit. Conclusion: life is too short to make coffee at home you wouldn't be happy purchasing from an establishment. Get the frigging coffee maker.
This is how it would look like after washing in dishwasher for several months.
Love the color and size of this single cup coffee maker. I also liked that there were 2 inserts for either coffee grounds (mesh lining) and one to hold single serve coffee pods. There is a cord hole in the back to store the plug when not in use, and a water tank in the back that holds up to 12oz. Here's what I didn't like-the main power button located at the front of the machine is both for power and for brewing, so you must hit that button to turn it on and again to brew which shuts it off again if you press too long. Second, there is no selection of cup size, so whatever you put into that tank is what is going to come out. I prefer to have the option of what size cup I'd like to brew, especially since the cup holder on this is so small. I initially filled the tank and used a mug, not realizing there was no way to stop when it was full. Lastly, the amount of steam this produces when brewing is significant enough to get condensation everywhere. My cup of coffee was fine, and overall this is a functional device that is cute and compact. For those reasons, I gave it 3 stars.
I replaced my capresso with this model. Hoping this lasts for a while. As a basic model it works fine. One issue I have is that the on/off switch is on the side and one can forget to shut it off if the machine is sitting at the back of the counter. I have had the coffee blacken due to it.
You can spend the money on a Keurig but I will take this beast any day. I love the side removable water container it makes it so easy to access in the tight space I keep mine. The choice of 3 cup sizes is nice and convenient for the perfect cup of coffee every time. I have the filters on automatic order which is amazing and so easy. The coffee on the other hand I stopped auto ordering because I shop around for good deals. I have been using this machine for a month or so and haven’t found anything to complain about.
Makes coffee well but within a couple months a single cell of the display went out and now several are no longer working. It replaced a 10 year old machine and it's display was working great still so must be down to the quality of parts smeg uses. Anyone know where I can find a replacement display?
Got my money’s worth.
Approximately 2 weeks ago, this black+decker coffee machine has been put into use. By the end of each use, once the handle is retracted from the machine is when the coffee leaks. As each night goes by, making roughly 8 cups is when I highlighted the burn and later on rust that’s been imprinted.
I purchased this Keurig as "Used Like New" for a discounted price to replace the same model I had (the display on ours went bad). There are a couple of things I noticed right away. First, the handle isn't nearly as nice as my old one. This one is plastic while my old one is metal. Also, the buttons aren't easy to press. They seem like they are already halfway down and so I'm wondering how long they will even work. Another thing is that the cup brew sizes are much larger than my old one and it continues to drip for a while after you make a cup of coffee. Also, my old one had a light that would shine up through the water tank when it was on. This one doesn't have that. It seems flimsy to me compared to the old one. It's too late for me to return it and now I'd have to contact Keurig which is honestly going to be such a painful process. Lesson learned that "Used like New" isn't really "like new," despite it being packaged up perfect as if it was never used. And I'll be honest, I don't really think it had been used; it didn't come filled with water or anything. It appeared to be brand new. So while it may be "like new" it certainly isn't functioning that way. Seems to be "new with defects." And perhaps "New" is also more cheaply made than mine from a few years ago. Buyer beware.
The size is perfect for a single cup of coffee, which is what I needed. The filter works great. Coffe comes out perfect.
I’m a huge coffee snob and previous barista. The machine is very simple, if you follow the instructions and clean it religiously, it will last you. I’ve had mine for 2 years now; through a massive cross country trip, on top of canyons after a hike or floating on a paddle board with daily use and pumps and works just as great as the first pull. Clean your machine folks and you shouldn’t have the issues you’re describing on certain reviews.
As per the photo, this coffee maker is much smaller than my current one. Pros: Small, compact size. Simple controls. There is just an on-off switch. Easy to clean up after a coffee brewing session. Very easy to operate. No compromise in the coffee quality. Cons: The water reservoir is awkward to pour into. This is a simple, easy to operate, attractive coffee maker. Nothing more.
This is easily one of the best cold brew makers I’ve used. The flavor is great and the coffee does not turn out watery. I also like how it’s portable so I can take it to class or work with me. It comes with a filter cleaner that makes it easy to clean out. Highly recommend!
UPDATE May 20, 2024: Approaching 3-months and still no replacement lid as promised by the manufacturer (Spectrum Home Appliances). They tell me a new lid is backordered since March 5, 2024. with no ETA. I suggested they buy a coffee pot from coffeemakers.us.com, which they'd get in 2-days, and send me the lid since it is now conveniently passed the return window. Customer Service is a joke - sure they return emails but with no satisfaction and no making it right. They offered to send me a new coffee pot if I cut the cord and ship it to them. So, I have to do the work and drive to the post office and pay for shipping and who knows how long it would take to get a new coffee pot. If they have an entire unit in stock - take out the lid and send it! Or would they order it from coffeemakers.us.com and send me the lid if I send them the cord? I already sent pictures. They should just refund me at this point. Upon opening the packaging, the center part of the carafe lid (plunger and spring) was not secured and a clear rubber washer that secures the plunger to the lid was inside the bottom of the carafe. I attached the washer to the underside of the lid to secure the plunger but the washer seemed too loose. This "plunger" as I call it, is under the filter and pressed down while brewing - the coffee flows through it, into the carafe. It stays down while the carafe is in place to keep the coffee hot, I imagine. When you remove the carafe from the plate, the plunger lifts up slightly so you can pour the coffee. Upon removing the lid for cleaning after the 2nd pot of coffee, the plunger and spring popped out and the clear washer went down the drain. What a dumb design flaw. I asked the company for a replacement lid because I don't trust replacing just the washer. We'll see if they respond at all. I'm surprised Black & Decker sells something like this when I could have gone to the Dollar Store and purchased a perfectly functional drip coffee pot for a fraction of the price. Also, the clock does not have a backlight so if you want to know the time you need to be right in front of the machine. When the brewing starts, the clock disappears and it starts a countdown to when it will automatically shut-off. The carafe lid is difficult to turn to remove. I was switching from a percolator to a drip coffee pot and took my time researching a good drip coffee pot since I only purchase one once every dozen years. I trusted Black & Decker to have a superior product. The coffee tastes great but the machine has multiple flaws. If I don't get a swift response from Black & Decker about replacing the lid, I will return this item. Returning an item really irritates me - the customer - because I'd have to drive quite a distance to a UPS Store during store hours, which means I'd likely need to take time off of work or go there on my lunch break. I'm so disappointed. UPDATE: It has been about six weeks and I'm still waiting for a replacement lid from the manufacturer, who tells me it is backordered with no ETA. Every day I dislike this coffee pot more and more. Instead of returning it I decided to hold the lid pieces together while brewing and pouring and just wait for the new lid to arrive. That was a mistake. It takes about 21 minutes to brew 10-cups of coffee. Yes, you can set a timer so it brews automatically but then you can't pre-heat the carafe as recommended. It should be filled with very hot water before you brew to warm the carafe and keep the coffee hot. What a pain. When the coffee is brewed, the clock disappears and the timer starts (120 minutes) - that is the countdown for the machine to automatically shut off. It may as well shut off as soon as the coffee is brewed because the plate the carafe sits on does not heat up, so why are we counting? The coffee isn't as hot as the old percolator so even the first cup is ...meh hot. You can just as well take that carafe and sit it on a table. I've considered submerging the carafe in a pot of hot water to keep the coffee hot or brew smaller batches. Unless you have the time to soak the carafe in a steaming hot bath before brewing and then wait for the full brew to finish and you have enough people to drink it all before it loses any more heat, then by all means, by this machine. Just make sure you're careful not to loosen the rubber washer on the lid.
