Had a weekend to try this out when I was housesitting for a friend; I couldn't believe the results. I'm normally someone who's into a more quality drink like a french press or similar, or maybe the occasional hot latte from Starbucks- I'll do drip coffee in a pinch but the quality this machine produces is aces, comparable to going out to the coffee shop. Yes, it's world's better than a Keurig. I personally decided on the matte black version. My go-to drink with this guy is mainly a double espresso pod with some frothed oat milk. Some here have mentioned the 7.7oz coffee pods taste kinda meh (just black, straight up); I think they're decent enough but again I got this with the extra Aeroccino 3 to make those extra creamy drinks. The crema results from the pods are super awesome too, one of the main reasons to get this unit in my opinion. Otherwise if you want straight black coffee I'd stick with drip/pourover/french press if you're mega picky and want to save some money (after all the package I bought was the unit + Aeroccino 3 for ~$200 including tax). I don't have much negative to say other than it took a minute to get the machine to perform an initial "clean" where it basically pumps hot water out a few times. Easy "get started" guide has simple instructions: plug the unit in, turn it on, fill up the water tower, and press the top button three times- I tried this step maybe 3-4 times and it didn't work until the 5th time, not sure why. Additionally, I also wished the AC plugs for the unit + frother were right-angled: they are heavy duty but they stick out a lot coming straight out of the wall. Like many others I don't have a lot of counter space in terms of depth. Otherwise we'll see how easy it is to descale this thing as I've heard a small % of folks had some issues. All in all I'm happy as I'm probably looking at under ~$1.80 a drink for my morning cups, which beats $5.00+ at Starbucks every morning. That and it probably takes 4-5 min to brew and cleanup. There's a reason this VertuoPlus has high praise, and I myself am a fan.
This is so cute, I love the trendy retro vibe and color of this espresso ☕️ machine... It’s so compact , it’s great for apartments and small living spaces.. it’s very easy to use and even comes with a quick guide , in case you don’t want to read the whole instruction booklet .. It makes a decent cup of espresso ☕️ and has a steam wand for lattes and cappuccinos.. it works great and is fast to provide that beverage, the only drawback is the LOUD noise it makes when working, this would wake up the whole house... if you are trying to be quiet, this will not happen.. I have had many espresso makers from $30-$1300 machines and this is definitely the loudest I have ever had.. it vibrates the whole counter .. It’s easy to use - remember to remove the plug on the water tank before using and cycle it a few times before making the first cup .. easy to clean , the scoop functions as the tamper as well , it also has a 2 shot adapter.. so , if you don’t mind the noise, it’s a functional espresso machine ..
Classic coffee brewing device; keep in mind chemex filters are kinda hard to come by now but you can use V60s instead (see image)
I bought this coffee maker for less than a week when the glass container cracked while brewing coffee. Definitely never buying anything from this company ever again.
What a great coffee maker! The design, although unconventional as compared to the typical "premium" department store coffee maker, is very well thought out, of high quality, and is solid as a rock. This is the best coffee maker I've ever owned. Pros: - Beautifully designed and executed metal housing with striking "industrial" look. - Copper heating coils instead of the typical cast aluminum is an outstanding feature! - Solid on/off switch. - Small countertop footprint (however, it is quite tall - see details below) - Modular design. If something does happen to break, new parts can easily be replaced. - Very solid construction, so I doubt anything will ever break or need replacement. - Brews coffee faster than any other I have ever seen or owned! - 15 cups from cold start to finish in less than 8 minutes. - Brew time averages just a few seconds over 7 minutes for me. Several caveats: - The appliance is quite tall. Certainly not a negative, but keep in mind the height. It barely fits underneath our cabinets, which are 45 cm (17.75") with about 6 mm (0.25") clearance. Pic #2. - You ALWAYS have to remember to move the water dispenser arm over the basket after readying the coffee maker. I haven't missed this yet, but I can see how it would be easy to forget. - I bought several packs of the Technivorm 15 cup filters and found them to be marginally adequate. These are the flat bottom filters and the ones I received had the bottom formed slightly too large, which caused the filters to crease, then collapse during the brew cycle, causing grounds to spill into the carafe. - Some buyers have complained that the carafe leaks. Mine did, too, but I found that when I filled the water reservoir up to the line (and not a fraction over), the leakage problem was eliminated. - No automatic brew capabilities (not a dealbreaker for me; see more below). - The filter basket lid lower surface (inside the filter housing) retains A LOT of water after a brew cycle. Just keep this in mind when removing after a brew cycle as quite a bit of water will spill off the underside of the cover. Pic # 3. Hacks: - With the collapsing coffee filter problem noted above, I decided to find a way to use regular (and far less expensive) 8 - 12 cup flat bottom filters. I purchased a stainless-steel reusable coffee filter (YEOSEN B07SF4Y6D9) and drop that inside the brewer filter basket. This "adapter" will allow you to use the 8 - 12 cup flat bottom filters using the same amount of coffee grounds to brew a 15-cup carafe. Pic # 4. - Some have complained about the unit not having an auto-brew or auto-off feature. The instruction booklet actually does state that the unit will switch off after 90 minutes. Oooof...even still, that's quite a long time to leave the unit on after a brew cycle. What I did was use a plug-in smart outlet or smart plug that is managed by an app and allows for wi-fi control of any device plugged into the outlet. The app allows me to set up on/off schedules, which I set to have my coffee maker to come on daily at 3:00 am for an 8-minute duration, then switch off automatically. I just plug the coffee maker into the smart outlet, then make sure I set it up each night and easy-peasey. Recommendations to Technivorm: - Please redesign the coffee filter housing lid. (See Pic # 3). A simple stippling pattern or chines arranged in a radial pattern and molded into the bottom surface of the lid will help control and drain water that otherwise collects on the underside of the lid during the brew cycle. - Please do some quality control to check your Technivorm brand 15 cup flat bottom filters to address the filter collapse issue I experienced above. It's easy for me to diagnose when placing a filter in the basket and the filter bottom outer diameter is formed slightly larger than the basket inner diameter. This causes creasing in the filter bottom to side radius and subsequent collapsing of the filter wall once saturated in liquid during the brew cycle. - Please consider adding an optional drop-in filter basket adapter (like I mention above) to allow for use of smaller 8 -12 cup filters - and even an adapter to allow for use of cone shaped filters, too! - Considering the price point of this coffee maker, for it not to have any type of automatic or scheduled brewing capabilities seems lacking. This was certainly not a dealbreaker for me as I was able to engineer a solution, but you may want to consider this option for future models. Overall, and without hesitation, I HIGHLY recommend this coffee maker!!!
Delivery for this came faster than originally ordered! I ordered "Red", received "Ruhbarb", which is perfect as that color is closer to the other appliances in my Kitchen. This Kurig is going to look great on the counterops, after I get some stuff moved!
I had a Keurig that I purchased five years ago and used it daily and loved it. When it finally broke I decided to go with the new top of the line Keurig and went with the K575. After only a week the water reservoir cracked. Now if that was the only issues I would deal with it because my old one had the same issue and never hindered it. But the coffee come out cold every time no matter how long the unit has been on. I thought I was the only one with this issue but after taking to TWO people that I purchased the same unit for as Christmas gifts from Costco they told me of the same issues. Stay away from this model until they figure out the bugs.
Fill right from you faucet. Two hour auto turn off. Be sure to order a basket style permenant filter with your coffeemaker. It is difficult to wash the filter holder with the glass pot every day because it is hard to remove the machine. Using the basket filter with your paper filter will give you a smooth flavorful cup of coffee with no acid taste. Mr Coffee machines have been the best performers for me. Good price!
This was broken on arrival.
I purchased the K-Slim to save counter space and got rid of an older working Keurig. I gave the K-Slim the benefit of the doubt, but it failed to perform properly. FIRST THE GOOD There are no bells and whistles such as temperature control, brew strength, power on timer, etc. This is in the product description, user manual and reflected in the selling price. I don’t need or want bells and whistles. I am not a picky coffee drinker so the K-Slim should have worked for me. I will even drink gas station coffee. There is almost no waiting time for the brew to start even if refrigerated water is used. Insert a K Cup, select brew size, press the brew button and the brew will start in about ten seconds. From my personal experience Keurig has excellent consumer support where you can make a voice call and speak with a live person. For valid warranty claims a replacement is a no hassle, with free shipping included. NOW THE BAD **** ORIGINAL UNIT (single entry needle style) Purchased October 2020. I followed the user manual descale instructions exactly. When brewing coffee, the reservoir will brew three 12-ounce cups before the add water LED is displayed. This is normal. While in descale mode instructions say to keep pressing the brew button until the add water LED is illuminated. After the third 12 ounce cup of descale solution the add water LED did not come on. So, I pressed the brew button again and the power died and the unit would not power back on. Since the K-Slim does not have an internal water tank I suspect the unit overheated and a (should have) safety feature kicked in to prevent a possible fire. I googled my situation and found another person with the same issue. Maybe a software bug? **** WARRANTY REPLACEMENT #1 (single entry needle style) Replaced August 2021. No issues with the descale cycle. My issue is the amount of brew is gradually reduced to about two ounces less than the selected brew. 12oz selected=10 oz. 10 oz selected=8 oz. I confirmed the amount of water without a K Cip pod and using a measuring cup. See attached photos. To return the unit back to the correct water dispense I will have to run one or two descale cycles. I also cleaned the unit including needles per the user guide. The user guide says to descale every three months. To be fair a more frequent descaling may be required depending on water quality and amount of use. I use filtered tap water and we brew about four cups daily on average. I descale no more than every four weeks to return the unit back to the correct brew size. I had a couple of non K-Slim Keurigs in the past and did not have these issues. I used the Keurig brand descale solution and a third-party generic solution with the same results. After about ten months of use I could not get the unit to operate correctly. Keurig sent a second warranty replacement. **** WARRANTY REPLACEMENT #2 (newer “Multistream Technology” five entry needles) Replacement July 2022. It is now mid October 2022 and it has only been about three weeks since the last descale. My 12-ounce brew is only getting 10 ounces again. Time to descale again. **** FINAL THOUGHTS Keurig does make some good products, but the K-Slim is a dud. I assume I am not the only one with this K-Slim issue. I will not ask for another K-Slim warranty replacement. I am going to shop for another brewer. Maybe another model Keurig, maybe not. For the amount of money I spend on descale solution the K-Slim is not worth keeping. MY SPECULATION The K-Slim does not have an internal water tank as confirmed in the following quote from Keurig: “Unlike the other Keurig systems, the K-Slim coffee maker has no internal water tank. As a result, only the external Water Reservoir needs to be emptied prior to storing.” The K-Slim heats water using heating tubes as it is pumped from the external reservoir. I confirmed this by watching youtube videos showing the internal parts. I suspect the design of the K-Slim does not allow the descale solution to stay in the unit long enough to do its job. ******** UPDATE 10/25/2020 ******** The low output of my third warranty replacement is getting worse even with descaling. I purchased another brand coffee maker. Before recycling the K-Slim I removed the cover. I added a couple of photos to this review showing the heating tube and thermal switch (safety feature) I discussed in my original review. ******** End Of Update ************
This is a very compact EXCELLENT coffee maker that pack a punch! I was surprised at how good & strong my cup of coffee tasted - & this was with generic ground coffee. Very easy to use. Comes with a convenient ground coffee filter (which I used) as well as a K-Cup filter. To clean up I found that unplugging, putting the entire thing in the sink, and THEN removing the filter works best. Turn the tap water on to wash the filter & base. Love this Horavie Single Serve Coffee Maker!!
Replacing my office glass french press daily driver after breaking another carafe. This press is exactly the size I like just enough for one large cuppa joe. Everything about it is perfect, the size, the gray finish, the handle and I like the spout especially lol.
Came with two extra screens for free which was great! Suction is a bit hard to push down on but it’s very capable of straining the coffee without any powder/residue left behind.
Brewed 3 cups with 5ah Dewalt battery . Need to buy the adapter tho but it’s only $15 . Works perfect !This is gonna be nice when I go fishing or camping .
