Damage box, very unprofessional Packaging, Unhappy customer still sitting in box.dont like the coffee maker did not meet expectations very cheap plastic.
This is my 4th purchase of this coffee maker over the past 30 years. It is easy to use and I especially appreciate that the thermal carafe keeps my wonderful morning coffee hot and that it never ends up burned because it doesn't sit on a hot plate all morning - I make my coffee at 7 a.m. and it is still a great temp three+ hours later! On gym days, I program it so that my coffee is made right before I get home and all I have to do is pour and enjoy after a heard workout! A special bonus is that it looks great on my counter top.
I used Merit coffee beans, followed the directions in the cold brew box & it was perfect!! Definitely worth the money. Relatively easy to clean. I really like the thermos at the bottom as well.
This French press is a basic device, with moderate quality construction. It is not the most solid, but it works decently well to brew a quick cup of joe. The beaker is removable as well as the lid, so I can just throw it in the dishwasher. The lid has a bit of wiggle, but the filter is relatively well fitting. The multilayer mesh screens out most of the grounds for a smooth drink, leaving only very minor residue that can filter through the mesh. I let the grounds soak in hot water for a couple minutes before plunging for a stronger brew.
I bought this for the water capacity and the brew time….it’s been a great purchase so far.
Brews great coffee, easy to use & clean. However, the coffee feature: stop flow when you pour- not 💯-stil drips after you remove the pot for that 1st cup 😔
Overall, this is a very nice press. All of the components are quality, and I love the finishes. However, I noticed the handle starting to loosen after a few uses. Based the design, I could tell that the screw had started to loosen inside the handle. I’m an engineer :)...so, I vibrated the handle all the way off the screw, popped off the cover and removed the screw. I have just applied red (semi-permanent) thread locker to the screw/handle interface and am letting it set up overnight. This should solve the problem! We’ll see how the rest of it holds up.
Likes: makes great coffee quickly and is easy to clean. Dislikes: came with some factory "schmutz" on it in places and the handle is slightly misaligned. For the price, the dislikes are not a deal breaker for me. I enjoy making coffe with this thing and the coffee that comes out of it is delicious and quite satisfying. QC could be better but it's still a perfectly functional french press coffee maker. Buy it for the low price if a few possible cosmetic imperfections won't bother you.
I have a plastic iced coffee pitcher with filter and that I’ve been using for a while but wanted to upgrade to a glass one (and to serve as a back-up for when I was cold brewing more coffee). This looked nice and sturdy but when I was hand washing it with warm water and soft brush, I discovered the glass is thin and of poor quality because it got a hole. Luckily, I didn’t injure myself. It’s a bummer.
I researched coffeemakers until I couldn’t stand it anymore. I finally settled on this Cuisinart and I think it was a good choice overall. The coffee is good flavored (no plastic taste) and the temperature of the coffee is very hot. I like being able to change the carafe temperature setting. We keep it on medium, since we find the high setting is way too hot and we have to wait too long for the coffee to cool to a drinkable temperature. With other coffee makers we have had a problem with the carafe spout dripping coffee all over the counter while pouring the coffee. This Cuisinart does not do that. That was a welcome change. Also, after the brewing cycle on our previous machines, when we would open the top of the coffeemaker to remove the filter with grounds, water would pour down the back of the machine and keep dripping for awhile onto the counter. This Cuisinart drips down the back a little when you first open the top, but not a lot, and it doesn’t keep on dripping. One wipe-up and we’re good. We like the 5-beep signal that the brewing cycle is done. Also, it beeps twice when the 2 hour keep-warm cycle ends. That’s a nice feature. I read many reviews that said there was a problem with a lot of machines having the hot plate rust or flake. We haven’t been using our machine long enough to experience that, but having read those reviews, we’ve made sure to always dry the bottom of the carafe before placing it back on the hot plate. I’ve also read some negative reviews about the design of the black plastic rim around the top of the carafe, saying it holds water or coffee and doesn’t allow for a complete clean out. I find that is true of our machine as well, and I don’t like that design at all. It is tough to pour the last little bit of coffee or water out of the carafe, and liquid does get trapped inside the rim. I noticed this when I washed the carafe this morning with soap and water, rinsed it and then dried it completely. I saw that water continued to drip down the inside which had to have been coming from inside the rim. I’m a little concerned about bacteria forming inside there from leftover coffee, because there’s no way to clean that out completely. Also I’ve attached a picture that shows the inner side of the handle against the glass holds water that has gotten in there, as well as water trapped under the metal band that goes around the lower part of the outside of the carafe. That metal band seems to serve no purpose other than decoration and advertisement, as it says the word Cuisinart on it. Since the inside of the handle is on the outside of the glass, that trapped water is not contaminating or causing a problem with the coffee, so I guess I won’t worry about that one too much, but it is still a design flaw that Cuisinart should correct. The main reason being that I saw a few drops seep out of the bottom of the handle, which could possibly contribute to the rusting issue of the hot plate, since I thought the carafe was totally dry before putting it back on the hot plate, not realizing it would drip afterwards. The design of the top of the carafe is my biggest complaint about this machine. A carafe is such a simple item, it should never have water trapped anywhere in it. My last machine had a very simple flip up lid with no plastic rim around the top of the carafe. Never had a problem with it, except for the spout dripping. That could’ve been solved with molding the glass spout a little bigger. I think Cuisinart should re-design their carafe to eliminate that black plastic rim. Otherwise, we are pretty satisfied with the unit. Time will tell how long it keeps working compared to previous ones we’ve used.
Near the end of the brew time, the front pops open and coffee spills out all over countertop. There so many other coffeemakers you can choose from. Hamilton Beach hasn’t nailed this design. ALSO, the pad the thermal carafe sits on heats up to over 200F! What’s that all about?
This is a great cold brew pitcher except for one thing. The pour spout has no cover (it's just a wide open slot in the plastic lid) so your coffee, tea, or other liquid is in the open air in your fridge and can absorb other odors, etc. I love that this is glass. I love how it looks, how it's easy to grip, and how it's easy to clean. I don't love that fridge air or any air can come and go as it pleases in and out of the pitcher. I'm sure some people don't care about this and for that, I'm giving this four stars. For me personally, I would lean more towards three stars because an open lid just seems like sloppy design oversight. Other cons: The glass is relatively thin and could break easily if dropped without the rubber bottom (which is removable for washing). The seals aren't super thick and will wear out over time and are also susceptible to not seating correctly over time. The plastic lid pieces are somewhat cheap and don't screw that securely. But as a basic pitcher, this works.
I love this coffee stand If it's perfectly with my frother and tea kettle. Perfect for morning cup of coffee for school. It bruise a little slow so I started when I first get up and it's ready by the time leave. I was happy that it came with a cup Nice size. No clear instruction on how much coffee grinds you need So it took a couple times to figure out the proper amount
I ordered a black one and got a white one!?!?
The taste of the coffee is very good. The coffee stays reasonably hot for several hours., but I would not buy this maker again. It is difficult to fill the reservoir without making a mess. At times it does not pour neatly. The resting plate has rusted badly. At this time I’m planning to buy a different coffee maker.
